I bought Au Bon Broth in person from the Mad Beet with no issues in August 2018. I'm no broth connoisseur but it was tasty and exactly what I expected. I checked out the nutrition facts on the back of the bag and was impressed that there were 7g of protein per 4 oz. serving, and only 14 calories. But wait, I learned in my college nutrition class that protein always has 4 calories per gram. Is Au Bon Broth magical, physics-defying foodstuff? Honestly the extra 14 calories aren't going to make a difference in my or hopefully anyone else's diet, but out of curiosity I emailed the company at the email listed on their website to inquire if their nutrition facts were accurate. No reply to my 8/30/18 email, and I forgot about it until the fall, when I followed up with another email 10/12/18 to say I was still curious. Jack got back to me and said he couldn't answer my question but would pass it on to the product development team. No reply. I asked 2/5/19 if he'd heard anything. No reply. The 14 calories per serving seem ridiculous to quibble over, but it bothers me that it *doesn't* bother them that their nutrition facts are impossible and that a simple follow-up email was too difficult operationally. read more

I am a bone broth connoisseur (if I do say so myself), so I was a little skeptical that anyone but me could make a perfect bone broth. I was pleasantly shocked to try Au Bon Broth: rich, creamy, savory with subtle notes of garlic, herbs, vegetables and perfectly roasted bones. I drank almost 3 cups in one sitting which left me satiated for hours, but it would also make an amazing base for your own soup, stew, risotto...anything! I've long known that bone broth is the most potent superfood available for healthy digestion, skin, bones and so much more, but the stuff you buy in the store is just glorified water and making it at home is challenging for most people, especially because high-quality grass fed and organic bones aren't readily available in all areas. This stuff tastes absolutely amazing. Worlds better than any of the watered down mixtures u might find at Whole Foods, etc. It comes in a 24oz frozen bag from Mad Beets on Garnet. At $25 a pop you are looking at three $8+ cups of 8oz broth!! So I really try to savior it each time lol. The easiest way to prepare it is to cut open the bag and place the frozen block in a heating pan.... set to LOW temp on ur burner and let it dethaw for 20-30mins. I refrigerate the leftover and reheat and serve within 2-3 days. read more

I wanted to get bone broth and I already had regret when I purchased the product since it was very expensive.   But I decided to give the frozen bone broth a try since I've heard good things about this type of supplement.   However, after my wife and I tried some of the product, she felt naseaus and didn't like the taste.    So, I wanted to take advantage of the "60 day MONEY BACK guarantee".  The guarantee indicates that "100% Money-Back Guarantee is only good on frozen bone broth products; not bone broth capsules".  However, when I talked to customer service and he indicated that the return policy is only available for capsules.  I was confused given what I read in the website and the same the return policy also indicates how to ship the product back, including adding.." 15+ lbs of dry ice to the package."  I can't imagine that is necessary for capsules. Also, the customer service rep also inquired to why my wife was naseaus and if it's possible that something else could have been the cause.  I told him that I can't speak to what specifically caused the symptoms, but I know there appears to be a cause and effect when injesting the product and would rather not test it out further with this product. All in all, if you like bone broth,  please look at several different sellers before making a decision.  This product is very expensive and you better be VERY sure that this specific product has significant benefits above all other competitors to justify the price.   For myself, it is NOT a better product, and I would not recommend this company and its products to anyone. read more

1. There are a few reviews on here that are incorrect. This place is NOT closed down and the phone number DOES work. It's confusing because it's not Au Bon Bone Broth, it's the Mad Beet and they carry Au Bon Bone Broth. You won't see a sign for Au Bon anywhere. I got there, didn't see it and called the number to find out what was going on. A guy answered and was very helpful and nice. I would highly suggest the owner make this more clear on Yelp/Google or put a sign up at the Mad Beet. 2. I tried the pure broth and added some spices to it before I drank it and it was great! I will definitely buy again. I thought it was a bit pricey ($25/2lbs), but it tasted better than all of the brands Whole Foods sells and is less expensive than Bonafide (popular brand that Whole Foods sells). read more

Unfortunately starting late 2016, Au Bon has greatly enlarged it's business with more locations but it's quality control has gone down the tubes. The premium broth no longer tastes great and it's still expensive, AND what is SO ANNOYING is the online purchasing process AUTOMATICALLY signs you up for their monthly subscription. Really bad business practices, which is so disappointing because it once was a really wonderful experience all-around. 100% do not recommend. I no longer purchase from them at all. read more

I purchased two bags of Au Bon Broth Bone Broth at the Mad Beet in San Diego, which is Au Bon's official retail location. Got home and started thawing a bag under hot water, which is the recommended method of thawing. Came back after a few minutes to discover that most of the broth had leaked out through a hole in the bottom of the pouch. I went back to the Mad Beet to exchange my bag, and they refused to exchange it. Guy at the counter even called his boss. They said there was nothing they could do, that Au Bon basically just uses their freezer. They said I would need to call Au Bon. So I stood outside the store for 10 minutes on hold, hoping somebody would have the authority to tell the Mad Beet to just exchange my defective bag for a good one, but nobody ever answered. I even left the call going for my 25 minute drive home through traffic, still nobody answered. I messaged them on Facebook, they saw it immediately, and have not bothered to respond in the 3 days that have passed. Defective product that the company won't stand behind, and absolutely terrible customer service. read more

I just had some of this bone broth last Sunday. It's really flavorful, I could taste the strength of the bones they put in there. I'm European and we make a so called "meat soup" with lots of bones cooked in it. When I was so sick 2 weeks ago, and nothing helped me to get better (I don't take medicines), I made some "meat soup" for myself. 3-4 hours later I started to feel better the first time in days. the bone broth with "everything" in it is very salty. It says that it has organic chicken bullion it it and you can taste that. You would never know that it has beef or turkey in it as it only tastes like salty chicken. I am going to try the other one that just has the bones it it. I was expecting a better broth. read more
