The review is for the office management who decided to change the amount that was paid to a higher amount because they felt that the time was not enough. I had paid the amount and signed the final bill but received a call a few days later stating that they made a mistake and did not charge for an extra half hour of time. I have nothing but great things to say about the whole team I interacted with. Kelli & Cheryl were very helpful in answering all my questions and giving me a proper quote before the move. The final price I paid only ended up being $11 more than the initial quote Kelli gave me. Even with the $11 increase, it was by far the cheapest rate I got from the six moving companies I contacted. As far as the movers, Anthony & Andreas were amazing. It took them 3 hours to pack the large furniture items for my one-bedroom apartment plus load 15 boxes I packed myself, then another 3 hours to unload and reassemble everything into a three-story home. I had 8 guys to show up and pack all my electronics , wrap all my furniture and take apart furniture. They were done within a couple hours. Hired them to help move out, store then move in. Move out was ok except movers broke a few things. Promised to document. They didn't. Instead just delivered broken items and argued with me. Few pieces of furniture were stored poorly and arrived broken. This includes a desk and bookshelf. Told it happens and they began insulting us describing items as cheap. Guys who moved us in were rude and complained the entire time. Were not careful with boxes and broke glass items. Rushed through it, didn't listen where stuff was supposed to go and rushed out. Still finding issues. No response from office. They have a lot of good reviews. Our experience was terrible. read more

The young men that showed up gave it their all and had wonderfully positive attitudes. They handled my belongings with care. They bill by the hour and these guys were no slackers. The company will initially make you feel good by giving you a quote that they will not exceed. They will not, but they will make sure enough time is wasted to get as close as possible to the quote they gave. I selected Auburn because I was told their movers are all full-time, which gave me comfort knowing that the movers would care about their company's reputation. Let me start by saying that I had only few pieces to mover out that I had covered with protective bags and everything was ready to be easily put on a dolly. We were supposed to start 9, but one of the movers came at 9:30, and the move was completed around 2:30pm. For a move like mine with only few pieces to take. it should not have lasted more than 2-3 hours, but it did not, and here is why: 30 Minutes into the move, the two movers took a smoke break that lasted at least 20 minutes, and they did not have the courtesy to even tell me that they will take break, which I was charged for. I kept waiting for them in the apartment, and only when I went outside I learned that they took a break. Every trip to the truck took at least additional 10 minutes in the truck, most of it was chatting. When it was time to go to the destination, the crew told me they will stop for a 10 minute drink break at the office on the way. That 10 minutes break lasted for 2 hours, while we were patiently waiting with no notification from the crew. We left the pick up address at 11:30, and the movers got to the destination at around 1:35. I was there before noon even though I left after after them. I took a day off from work, so I can start unpacking at home, and that delayed everything. Also, the 30 minutes drive to the destination was increased to 45 minutes, so the crew charged me for an-hour-and-a-half for it. To top it of, I emailed my concerns to the company, and I got a response a week later ignoring most of my comments and questioning the data I provided. read more

We went with Auburn Moving and Storage for our second of two moves. For the first one, we went with their competitor, Ernie's (see my review for that experience). This experience was superior because there were four people on the crew, and lots of storage space so they got every single item (versus not being able to fit everything and having a three-person crew take 14 hours to do the job, as with Ernie's.) The crew worked hard and were professional and careful. Everything was reassembled correctly. The only unpleasantness came at the end. The estimator had clearly written "Not to exceed" with the quote for the time and materials. The head of the crew said that we exceeded the budgeted material cost because they used a carpet protector. We were also 45 minutes over their estimated time. I told him that the estimator, the owner I believe, had said that the time could go a little under or over, but would not exceed that amount. I said we would pay for the extra materials, but he added the entire cost on top of the original quote, even though the original quote included almost all of them. He said he had to write it up with the extra time etc but that we could go ahead and not pay for it. It seems like there is a communication disconnect around the materials and estimating a little, and it is too bad an otherwise very good day had to end with a little bit of dickering over what the original estimate said and included. read more

The Way overpriced to begin with, was charged almost $800.00 for two movers to work for a little over an hour. The most annoying and unprofessional part was I was scheduled for between 12 and 12:30 to move my mother into a care facility. The movers were three hours late without any notice or a courtesy call to let me know they were late. So assuming they were a no show I unloaded the truck by myself, which I shouldn't have done having recently had back surgery. To top it off only one of the two who finally.showed up once I had to do their job was courteous to me the other one had an attitude or chip on their shoulder. Their professionalism really shined through when they flirted constantly with every female who worked at the facility but I could barely get a three words out of them. We hired Auburn Moving & Storage for a local move, about 20 miles to our new house in February 2017. The pros: Rob, the owner, was very thorough in his initial walk through of our house. He identified how many trucks and movers it would take for all our stuff and he was very professional. He provided us a quote on the spot after a few minutes of calculation. There was very good communication from the original estimate all the way to the day of the move. The moving team arrived on time on move day and packed up everything by lunch time. It was a long day of moving, but everything was unpacked by the end of the day. There were a few issues, but no one is perfect. Rob took great effort to make sure we were satisfied customers and that all our issues were resolved. I won't go into our specific issues that we had since they were fairly minor, but I can say that Rob make sure everything was addressed and resolved. I recommended this company to a co-worker. Just know that movers have a hard job that is very physically demanding. read more

I would not use this company again nor refer to anyone. If so I would recommend getting the maximum amount of insurance, coverage. They damaged heirlooms. If you by chance use them when you get your delivery do not sign any paperwork until you unload your stuff and inspect to your satisfaction. If you have damaged goods $.60 on the pound is vastly insufficient. And I had multiple, multiple items that they broke or damaged They say you have nine months to unpack and file your claim -but after the fact they cited that I accepted the goods as was at the time it was delivery. They are excellent in providing information and their price is way too low for the excellent service they provide. My husband and I moved from San Francisco after selling our multi unit house to their storage facility in Roseville, CA. Our life possessions were in their storage facility for 3 months. When we purchased our new home in Lincoln, CA, they moved everything from storage to Lincoln, CA. Everything went smoothly and professionally. Their office staff and moving staff were beyond superb. The company employees did not move all of my things, broke my 55 inch OLED television and offered only 60 cents a pound to replace it, missing parts to my refrigerator and freezer compartment, did not set up my bed because the movers left parts of the frame behind so that I had to set it up by myself (I am a small older female), scratched furniture, and took longer and used extra packing supplies even though I was already packed. I let it all go until I saw the damage to my television. I used this company in the past and it was not like this. I do not recommend them. read more

All the bad things you've read here about the auburn moving company are absolutely true. Avoid them at all cost. I hired them to move a very valuable family antique and some other items from Auburn to Southern California. After 2 days on the road, they called to inform me that they had seriously damaged the family antique. We were heartbroken, but mistakes happen. I sent them a quote for $700 to repair the piece, and they replied with a check for $90. Apparently, they think that I should pay the other $600 for their incompetence. Now I have to take them to court to repair the damage they caused. They also broke a freezer of mine and refused to pay for it's repair. They don't even deserve 1 Star , but that's the lowest rating available here. Whatever you do, avoid these losers. read more
