I've purchased just simple cash and carry items from this Audio Express location twice. Both times the service was adequate and fairly attentive. My first purchase was more or less right at suggested MSRP. However, the second purchase was nearly 100% over MSRP. As mentioned, the items were cash and carry and not expensive items. The prices on my second purchase seemed a little steep, so I did some checking on manufacturer suggested retail and what they charged and they were WAY WAY overpriced. The result was that I felt crummy after my most recent purchase, hence the one star. Anyway, I'll chalk it up to a not too expensive learning experience and eat the cost. But they have definitely made an Amazon or online shopper out of me. Don't always go local is my suggestion. The leveler? Reviews are "King" in this day and age, so this review will no doubt, more than offset the amount that I overspent. Happy shopping! read more

This is the thing with Audio Express. They say they have the best prices and the 1 dollar install but they are full of shit. I have a 2002 Acura TL type S and when I was about to get it all done, they tell me there is not a harness available for my car. So the clerk started to call corporate and my friend and I were waiting for almost an hour only to find out that apparently "there is no such harness for the car that I have and that I would have to get a whole new system and that would run me about 400 dollars." I told my friend that I was very very upset. So we went to best buy to check it out and low and behold there stereo systems were about half the price of that piece of shit and they also told me that a harness exists for every single car. I got it all done for about 200 dollars and everything was just fine. FUCK AUDIO EXPRESS AND THE SHARKS THAT THEY ARE. read more

BEWARE!! Unfortunately, there is no procedure for giving negative stars. I went in to get a new stereo system in my truck and had some specific requirements which I told the salesman. He advised me to get a certain stereo which would satisfy my needs. When I got the truck back and started to use it as I desired, it did nothing of what I wanted. I returned to the store and the salesman was out, so I spoke to the manager. The manager then lied to my face and told me that the features I wanted were illegal and the store was, therefore, not responsible so I could not get my money back. I was quite tempted to throw the stereo through the store window, but refrained. I considered taking them to small claims court and charging them under the Unfair Trade Practices statute, but, of course, everything was verbal so there was a lack of proof. BEWARE!!! read more

Wow the Deck I has looking at was listed at $159 installed DYI $129, good luck with that total price $260 after installation. Don't get sucked in with there adds. I purchased all new speakers for my vehicle. I made an appointment they installed the speakers but unfortunately the installer must have torn one during the install so I called and they told me to bring it in any time and they would get in taken care of immediately. I thought wow that's great customer service. They next day I called an made an appointment just Incase they were busy for he next day. I came in at the time my appointment was scheduled and the individual at the desk told me we don't make appointments we are not like a Jiffy Lube you will have to come back another time. There customer service is terrible do not waste your time with this company there are better choices in town. This is BY FAR the worst car stereo business I have come across in ABQ. Despite my family and friends' recommendations to go elsewhere (or to Mesa Radio, which I've come to love), I stupidly went to Audio Express because they could get me in faster. What a horrible mistake. In addition to being treated like a piece of meat by all the men there the moment you walk in the the door, they did the most ghetto installation of my car stereo after charging a ridiculous amount for labor and parts. When I pointed out the look (visible metal sticking out, scratched up trim, etc.), they then claimed they couldn't fix it; then my radio stopped working a week later. I kid you not. When I went elsewhere to get it fixed this week, they explained every detail of what Audio Express did wrong and the corners they cut. They also explained the cost difference of what they charge. I would have saved $90 going elsewhere. Ugh. :( Needless to say, I will never set foot in audio express again. Their constant advertising brings in business, but no one I know wants to go there; and many had their own crappy stories to share after I explained mine. read more

Terrible customer service and will never recommend this place to a friend or enemy. After a while without a radio, a fast talking salesman talked me into financing a car radio and install - no interest same as cash. I thought it was weird he made me take the product out of the store but didn't think too much into it at the time. I think because it was financed, he still got credit for it. It ended up being a ridiculous finance deal, almost $100 extra for the financing on a $300 deal. After being completely misinformed about the financing, I contacted Audio Express and they told me to contact the financed as the product is no longer theirs. I contacted the financer and had to go through a very convoluted return process because the product "left the store." This business is a real scam and I have a feeling still benefitted from this bogus transaction since the item left the store. Buyer beware! read more

Quality of install is poor. I purchased a remote start for my car and had them install it. They failed to properly wire the parking lights. I took it back to get fixed the next day, but they wanted me to wait a week for the next available apointment and insisted it was not their error. NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN. read more

We went in and spent almost 400 dollars on a car stereo in which they told us that they can install on Sunday. We made an appt at noon and was told by the GM that we would be the first in line and the installation would be done in an hour. When we got there no GM in site , just a very rude employee telling us we would have to wait 4 or more hours to have this done. Had we known this prior we would have made different arrangements. Then the employee gets even more rude when we bring up the fact that his GM told us that we would be first in line .."my GM is not here. I'm running the show bro!" Exact words! Needless to say we got a full refund because of the non professionalism and rudeness of this one guy. We will NOT be going there anymore and be spending our money elsewhere. read more

I thought Audio Express on San Mateo near Menaul would be a good place to get a new stereo, speakers and a sub for my car. After almost 5 hours, the salesman took me out to see it and asked if he could show it off to some other customers that were interested in the same system. The bass did not hit at all and it sounded like a stock stereo without a sub-woofer. Finally the people were not impressed, got in their car and drove off. I on the other hand was very disappointed. Finally they figured out that the installer did not connect the wire for the bass volume control knob under the dash. I was now feeling better as I drove away with a good sounding stereo. After I stopped someplace to eat and went back to my car, upon start up I realized that all the settings had gone back to default. The installer didn't connect to constant power. It was too late to take it back that day so I had to wait until after the weekend. Now during this time, I had to drive at night and discovered that all of my center console lights were now inoperable. When I was able to get the car in for them to look at it, I was later called and told, "We have the console opened up and wanted to absolve ourselves of any wrong doing, can you come and look at it". What kind of business do you run when the first thing you have to say to a customer is we want to absolve ourselves. Funny how the lights were working BEFORE the install. So now I am going to have the car dealership look at the wiring this installer messed with. I wish I would have waited to talk to my son before going to Audio Express. He later told me he had a similar experience when the installer did a half-assed job installing his system and it was mounted crooked. Later he and an electronics friend of his, ended up taking it out and re-doing it themselves with all the same hardware. The installer was just lazy. The home of the $1 install, I would say, is too expensive for that level of incompetency. If you are thinking of going here, I would suggest you try a better place with competent installers that care and believe in craftsmanship because you won't be finding it here. read more

I was really skeptical of taking my truck back to Audio Express after the nightmare that I experienced at the Santa Fe Audio Express. Devin and his crew did everything right. I was in and out in a timely manner. His shop at 1105 San Mateo N.E. was completely clean with all of the Demo units working so that I could hear the various stereo. His team was neat fast and professional I was completely satisfied with the installation at no cost to me. I picked up my car, which is a Subaru with a built engine(turbo from an STI, etc. etc...very fast car), and when I stopped to get gas I saw that my front bumper was hanging off on one side. I took my car back and asked about it, and they said "oh, looks like you knocked into something." so I mentioned it to a friend. He said that he knows some of the guys who work there, and that they basically run a joy ride business. I believe it too, after I read some other reviews with 19 extra miles on the odometer after they go their car back. I won't ever go here again, and I would suggest you do the same. If you do choose to to go with these dishonest business"men", I suggest you write your mileage on the paper you fill out. I asked to see the tapes, and "they don't save them that long." We went to get a car stereo with aux cord for my daughters 2004 Jeep. We were talked into Bluetooth by the sales person who used the "iPhone 7 Scare" that it would not have headphone jack for aux cord. We fell for it and spent $75 more than we needed to. (I found out the iPhone 7 will have adapter for lightening bolt for headphone jack.) I felt we were hustled and I will not go back. Also we asked to get the old stereo back and they did not put it in the car and we had to make an extra trip to go back and get it. This place is more concerned about the sale than the customer. I took my Buick Park Avenue in for a simple car stereo replacement after my GM CD player quit. They replaced the stereo and I went home, which is 30 miles out of town. The next day my car was completely dead and the battery completely drained. I could not take it back to them so I called my local mechanic, got the car jumped and into his shop. He diagnosed the electrical problem and removed the 2 fuses (under the back seat) that went to the car audio so I could at least drive the car until I could take it into town. This cost $75.00. I went back to Audio Express, they had their techs look at it and told me it was a faulty fuse box. They replaced the 2 fuses so their stereo worked and sent me home - another 60 mile round trip. The next morning, the car was dead again, the battery completely drained. I got another jump start, went back to my mechanic. My mechanic checked it again, traced the dead short right back to the new radio/cd player. I put a charger on the car, drove back into Albuquerque. After a lot of denial on the part of the manager, after blaming the age of my car, the fuse box again and my mechanic, they had their senior tech check it out. they discovered that my factory installed pre-amp was blown, creating a dead short. Imagine that! Of course, their techs did not short out the pre-amp during the initial installation! At first they wanted to keep the car overnight. I explained I was a disabled senior and could not walk 30 miles home. There is no bus and 30 miles is an expensive taxi ride. They refused to take me home. Then they decided to remove the blown pre-amp and rewire my speakers directly into their radio-cd player and charge me $175.00 for this! I told them to remove the 2 fuses again so I could drive home and that after I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau I would see them at Small Claims Court. The price was lowered to $65.00 for the rewire and I had to pay them to fix their mistake. Their tech shorted out the pre-amp the first time into the shop and they lied, blamed and refused to make it right. It cost me the $100 for the actual radio/cd player, $114.00 for the original $1.00 install they advertise, $75 to my mechanic and $65 for them to fix their mistake. They also tossed my GM 5 prong wiring harness and used a 3 prong, which disconnected the audio controls on my steering wheel. My advice is to go elsewhere. read more

As a consumer you have a choice to pay a sellers price or not. So I don't think it's fair to complain about that. The sales guys were friendly. My issue was that amount of time for the install was completely misrepresented. The manager said it was miscommunication. Maybe once it was but not when I called the second time at 3:30 pm and asked how much longer. I was told they needed one more hour. At 5:00 pm, an hour and a half later, I arrived at the store, was dropped off without a ride home as I assumed the information I was given was somewhat accurate. I was then told they needed 2 more hours. On top of that, the manager didn't even attempt to pretend to care about the problem this created for his customer that had already paid a good amount of money for the product and service upfront, At least pretend to care! absolutely the worst customer service ever, after purchase on 6/9. was given an appointment @9am on 6/17. showed up for appointment and after a few minutes of confusion, was told not all parts had been received. was then told that their delivery was usually before noon and that i would get a phone call at that time to reschedule. here it is 6/23 and still no phone call, so i went to get a my deposit refunded. was told no refund, so i asked for a supervisor. was told i was talking to sales manager (really, i guess he had no customer service training), again asked for supervisor and he reluctantly went to get district manager. first told no refund, then told partial refund. had to pay for parts ordered, mounting and harness.....but harness not in yet!!! as a matter of fact, not scheduled to leave factory until 6/30!!!!! was told they couldnt cancel order (ahem bs). why wasnt any of this known and communicated prior to today, 6/23. read more

Literally all contact since my car was worked on has been initiated by me. I got the estimates at the behest of the employees at the West Side location. Cheech did in fact do and say everything I wrote about in my comment. I had one of your employee's parole officers with me if you need me to provide a witness. Why would I make any of this up? By saying that my review is slanderous is first of all a misnomer (it's called libel when it's in print) and second of all another way of calling me a liar. Everything in my review is factual including my odometer reading 19 miles higher when it was picked up than it did when it was dropped off - Trip A had 1002 miles when I got to Audio Express on San Mateo, 1017 when I got to the Coors store, and 1036 when it was picked up. I did not refuse to meet you at Car Crafters - you refused to meet me on the day I had already taken off of work to get everything done and asked me to instead set aside another day and time to meet you, which has not been possible since then. I had to establish what the industry standard of repair was after your employees essentially told me there was no way that Audio Express would pay for the replacement of my bumper. I have no idea if Greg's Auto Body is reputable or not, but the fact that everything was so underhanded and shifty in how this has been handled left me with no confidence in his work because of you guys. I will be in tomorrow to hopefully get this resolved. I would like to review your video footage, and I would like my car repaired by Duke City Body Rebuilders - the first quote I got and the 2nd least expensive. I will bring all estimates with me. You will see that Duke City was within a few dollars of Greg's (with the same exact recommendation Greg made) and significantly less expensive than CarCrafters. So far, other than calling me a liar on Yelp, you haven't made ANY effort whatsoever to contact me or resolve this issue, and I am absolutely certain that you have my contact information. There is a reason this place only charges one dollar for installations! they told me it would be two hours so I waited. Three hours later my car hadn't moved from the parking lot. They refused to cancel the sale for a refund stating that I had signed a contract with the receipt. The salesman, when asked about said contract said,"don't worry about any of that stuff, it covers you if the product breaks." When they installed the radio incorrectly and triggered a immobilizer code which in has cost me close to 400$ to repair. None of which they are willing to pay for. Every time I contact them I get fed the same bs line about "corporate won't cover this or that." Several other industry pro's warned me about this place and I should have listened. read more

This business is terrible! My husband and I purchased an amp and subwoofer to complete our daughter's car stereo. We typically, admittedly, shop online or at Mesa Audio for this type of stuff, but we were in the area and stopped in. We spoke with a very knowledgeable, personable salesman named Ever, and he ended up selling us the components. My husband does all of the install work himself, always has. Ever told us to be sure to send our daughter back into the store when the items were installed, and they would tune the amp and show her how to break in the system properly. This would be part of the service that they do when people buy equipment from them. We left, happy with our purchase and service. However, when it came time for Audio Express to make good on the promise of tuning the system, they failed to deliver. When my daughter showed up today, she was met by a man named Damian, who identified himself as management and told her that they could not do the service. They were now trying to charge her, and treated her terribly. I ended up making a trip to the store as well and got more of the same double talk and refusal to complete the service which had been promised to us in order to get us to buy the products. Classic bait and switch scenario...these guys are awful, and the customer service is worse than that! Keep buying online folks, or use Mesa Audio if in Albuqerque. Do NOT buy here!! read more

First the radio package they installed stuck out from the dash. They said they would order correct kit for car by the weekend. Still not in. 2. The radio kit also has a large gap that when I went to place earrings in fell into. Frustrated at sloppy work. 3. Ashtray no longer opens and closes properly do to part of the dash board not reinstalled properly (a tab sticking out). read more

I bought an in dash stereo for my truck and it was never installed correctly. Each time I took it back and explained what was wrong, I was told no problem well fix it but that never happened. It was on the third attempt that made me decide that were incapable of fixing my system they sold me. One service clerk told me next time they were going to charge me, even though it was under warranty. Futhermore, they even accused me of messing with the wires behind the system. Hmmmm, not very customer friendly in the least. I finally took it over to one of their competitors down the road and got it done right the first time and the ate the cost for a happy ending so to speak. read more

I always have a great experience when I shop here. I called this morning about a keyless entry for my car. The gentleman that answered the phone had answered every question honestly even though letting me know that there was hidden fees associated with the system. Meaning I would need to by a bypass module that would add another $150 to cost. Because of this heads up I will by the system no problem knowing how much the end cost will be. Awesome over the phone service. They answer right away and were very nice and honest. I will go to them first from now on. It would have saved me a lot of time. read more

I went to pick up my vehicle after having an alarm installed. It wasn't setting off when pounded on. They had to reset it or tune it for more sensitivity. When I picked it up there was a long scratch on my passenger side door- from the front end to the rear of the car. They were not there when I dropped it off. They didn't have the right rubbing compound. Devon the manager said he would order it. He also said they'd review the in shop camera system. Two days later no word. I come back to ask questions about my alarm and the salesperson cheech kept looking at his watch as if he was in a hurry to be somewhere else. He told me he would help with looking at my alarm and left. 20 min later he showed up. I explained to him my issues again about the scratch and then about the valet and other buttons. I started telling Cheech that after having read the manual it said to press the valet button on the remote. He started talking before I was finished speaking and then told me "I" was interrupting him and he started yelling at me to be quiet or he couldn't help me. He stormed off and left after I stated that a person in customer service should not behave in such a manner. Needless to say - Devon did not appear as promised either. Bad customer service. No follow through. They don't care about the customer just the cash. I was going to give them a 3 until Cheech went into His little rant and walked off. read more

These people dont even deserve one star! i Purchased about a 2,000 dollar system a year and 4 months ago! they tuned it and everything, dont get me wrong it sounded great! but the wires were just thrown in there my 400$ amp was screwed to my back wall with a 3" wood screw( thats really professional) but i went ahead and didnt say anything! this past weekend i was driving like i do everyday! my sub wasnt even turned up and it started smoking like a freight train! now being 4 months past warranty i was a little bumbed! but Erv told me i wouldnt have issues with this sub it was the best in the market! so i took it in to see if they can help me out! they tried blaming it on me when actually it was never turned higher then the day Erv was showing it to me! all they could do is give me 25$ back! I was pist so i went to Paradise Village and got a way better hook up for less then they were gonna charge me at audio express!
