We reached out to Mike to simplify our old entertainment center. We have an elaborately wired house that makes it too complicated to managed ourselves. Mike helped us clear out the old equipment we didn't need, like DVD player and VCR, and streamline with an upgraded audio receiver and apple tv. He also helped us download an app for our new receiver on our phones, and had us take notes on how to use it so we could be self sufficient in our new entertainment system. We decided to purchase a new TV and he gave us some good recommendations and even recommended that we buy it ourselves through Costco for the warranties and cost savings. Requested a quote online and they were very prompt in answering. They gave me a complete quote and explanation over the phone of how the work would be done and how much it would cost. I had actually received a quote from a different company initially and received very limited information from them over the phone. When they came out, they did not want to perform the work the way I wanted, they were late, unprepared, and unequipped, so I turned them away and went with AV Innovations. Mike the owner came out with an electrician since I had some electrical work to be done. They mounted my TV over the fire place, installed an outlet behind the TV, and ran an HDMI and two ethernet cables up the wall, across the attic, and down the back living room wall to my cable box. They installed a new junction box/outlet near my cables boxes, and they also took the coaxial cables from the attic where I had the cable company leave them and ran one through the walls into the living room and the other through the walls into the bedroom, where they installed new coaxial outlets in the walls. They did all of this with hardly any drywall cutting. They were very informative, performed good work, and were priced fairly. Mike is absolutely fantastic. We're completely dumb when it comes to any sort of audio/visual connections, so I turned to Yelp to find Mike. Our primary issue was that we couldn't figure out why the backyard speakers weren't functioning properly and how to control the backyard speakers and the family room speakers with our current receiver, and he fixed that in literally 2 seconds. We ended up just getting a more updated receiver (considering ours was about 5-10 yrs old) and a new universal remote -- which he stocked in his van. It was awesome, because he actually answered on the first call (usually I have to call, leave a message, and wait half a day before a service-man returns my call to set up a visit). I called him yesterday afternoon, and he was able to come out this morning. It's apparent that he definitely knows his stuff, but our job was probably pretty darn easy compared to what he does on a daily basis. The best part is that you can tell he's a really good guy. Our dog can sense "bad people," and he actually let Mike pet him a few times! He's soft-spoken and really informative. He patiently taught my entire family how to use the universal remote, and he helped us set up and use an app on our phones so that we can control our receiver from anywhere in the house. Gosh, technology makes things so convenient these days! We're still settling in, but once everything is settled, we're definitely going to call him back to help install a few other things. I had Mike run speaker wire through the ceiling for surround sound speakers (which was no easy job--we have a cramped and crowded crawl space).
