I was given a loaner pair and originals were sent back to the factory. Since the loaners were better than the originals and I was told due to the holidays being so close it may take a bit of time for the repair I didn't call the office. However, I did send an email msg to the audiologist stating I liked the loaners. Today, 1/19 I received a call on my landline telling me the originals were back and they've been trying to reach me for at least 3 weeks and all calls directed to my cell went directly to voice mail and they then claim they texted me with no response. There were no missed calls as there would have been a record and no text. As a matter of fact, this is not the first time I've been told calls have been made and gone directly to voice mail from this company. I'm pleased with the hearing aids but not with what I perceive as dishonesty to cover their office inadequacies. I'm sure that my warranty will now be invalid due to this review. I hope not.

I told Samantha said I must have a hard copy instruction manual. Samantha balked at this and said they only give instruction manual when the hearing aids are purchased??? Crazy! She finally not happily consented to send me instructions. I asked that a copy of my hearing test I was not given be sent also. These were sent and received. The instruction manual was indispensable; it had crucial, very important and indispensable info for these very advanced hearing aids. AND this office INITIALLY DID NOT GIVE ME AND WERE NOT GOING TO GIVE ME AN INSTRUCTION MANUAL UNTIL I PURCHASED THESE EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE HEARING AIDS?? WILD! The instruction manual said I should have a hearing test with the hearing aids on...which I had asked for and Dr. DATINO said this test with hearing aids on was not done,. The next appt. I had lots of questions that were basically answered and I needed hearing aids to be reprogrammed a bit as I was not hearing well with them. They were reprogrammed. Nancy DATINO left the room. Samantha gave me an unidentified bamboo toothbrush and told me to brush the domes of hearing aid very well every nite...Brush them HARD Samantha said. Well instructions in manual said do NOT touch the domes...only a specialist does this I confirmed next appt. days before only to be asked again on line an hour or so before my appt. to confirm again I would be there. I confirmed and drove an hour to the appt. to find out Dr. DATINO has been ill all week and would not be there but would join us on zoom call. I DEFINITELY should have been called before this appt. and told the audiologist I WAS PAYING TO SEE would NOT be there!! THIS IS A NO BRAINER! And I had been asked if I was coming in an hour before my appt. with the office fully aware Dr. DATINO would NOT be there!! I drove an hour to the appt' to find her not present! I arrived at appt. fully expecting Dr. DATINO the audiologist to be present...I had an LOT of questions for her!! WELL I sat there for about 40 minutes with Samantha. Samantha trying to connect on zoom with DATINO and made several phone calls to her also all to NO avail. From our first contact with her office I said I had been made aware that time with an Excellent audiologist was of utmost importance!! I was with her assistant/intern Samantha more than with audiologist DATINO. And Nancy DATINO never showed for this last appt. I had a LOT of questions for her the audiologist! I told Samantha to please have Dr. DATINO to definitely call me so I could ask her my questions. I then returned the Oticon hearing aids I was trying out because I certainly did NOT want to continue care with the irresponsible attention, information and lack of time provided by Dr. DATINO. I told Samantha I still most certainly wanted Dr. DATINO to call me ;I had questions. No surprise she never called. I would tell anyone to AVOID this practice. I ache for those that are unknowingly taken advantage of! And the $ a patient can pay...oh dear me! Terrible!

He convinced me back then to get a set of hearing aids (even though I was only in my 40s!) to help cope with a case of tinnitus in my right ear. Throughout the years, I've found Dr. Cohen to be a great professional--always kind, considerate, understanding, and knowledgable about aids and other solutions that meet my challenging needs. This was especially true when my tinnitus bloomed to full-on single-sided deafness. (I completely lost hearing in my right ear due to surgery in 2013 to remove a golf ball sized acoustic neuroma--or benign brain tumor--which also destroyed my right ear's hearing nerve.) His current office, shared with an optometrist/eye glass store, might not look like much. But it doesn't impact the type and level of service and support he provides! (In fact, I think his "low-overhead" approach probably saved me SEVERAL thousands of dollars over a mid-town audiologist's office offering the same top-end hearing aids.) I would definitely recommend giving Dr. Cohen for your hearing challenges. I think you'll find his no-pressure, gentle approach to be very refreshing!

She also mentioned that we could order the lenses through them, but did not say that we had to -- and she definitely did not say that their prices were five times higher than online stores or fair market value. She explained there was a $140 exam fee, which I was perfectly fine with. At the visit, my wife was pressured to purchase a one-year supply for $2,000. When she called me, I told her that it is a ridiculous price, to decline and simply get the samples and the prescription. Instead, her card was charged $760 for a three-month supply without clear authorization. When we noticed the charge, I immediately called to cancel the order because we only wanted the prescription. The doctor and staff were upset and rude. They told me we were required to buy the lenses through his office and even asked for the trial lenses back. I returned the samples in order to receive a refund for lenses we never approved in the first place. To his credit, he refunded everything except the $140 exam fee, stating it was for his time. However, when I asked if we could at least receive the prescription since we paid for the visit, he refused. When I asked what I was getting for the $140 fee, his reply was, "Nothing at this point." We ended up going to LensCrafters at the Westchester Mall. Their exam was $144, but they accepted our insurance and our copay was only $50. They provided a week of trial lenses, and we purchased a three-month supply for $164. We are now two weeks after the fact and my daughter loves her contact lenses. We ended up paying $214 versus $760 for the exact same thing. This experience felt more focused on selling overpriced products than providing patient care. I strongly recommend asking detailed questions about pricing and prescription release policies before scheduling an appointment. I am sure Dr. Bernstein will reply to this review with some nonsense.
