I had my nails done here on Tuesday and a few days later they were cracking and peeling. No I don't do dishes, have children or type ( for now) so there is no reason why after a few days it started lifting. I had a neighbor ask me if I did the nails myself- how embarrassing. The whole problem started when Kathy told me to please buy the Groupon from her and not pay Groupon directly. Big mistake- always buy from Groupon they will be fair and have your back. As Kathy was going my nails I could see how she left a gap between my nail bed and the polish. I told her there was a gap, my nails were filed crooked and she kept acting like she didn't see it or it wasn't understanding. After she was done I showed her that my nails looked like it had 3-4 days of growth and she said that "this is how it is." I've had gels done for years and no it's not like that. She knew she did a bad job when she offered to redo them right then and there. Sorry, people don't have one hour to get a bad job then have to spend another hour just because you are practicing. I couldn't do it, I had another appointment right after. Kathy kept saying "this is how it is." She's right, that happens with an inexperienced tech. Cheap no name gels ( I've never heard of the brand they have there) on top of the lack of experience and the unwillingness to make it right makes this the last place I would ever step into. I did give her a chance to fix it but apparently she will only do it within 1-2 days of getting your nails done. So if you have the time and like to be practiced on, this is a place for you. read more

My friend gifted me a Groupon for a gel mani/reg. pedi for my b-day so I checked them out. Booking is not as easy as with other salons (need to book about a week in advance) and only one person, Linda, does nails so don't expect to book this with a friend and get nails done at same time. I picked out the same color for mani/pedi but they ended up looking different. I like my pedi and its the color I picked. My hand nails ended up looking lighter (I thought it would darken with more layers and the baking process but they didn't). I liked the color though and I didn't feel like going through the process again so I didn't say anything. Now that it's the next day I can see a lot more discoloration with my hand nails. Not sure if the type of gel just isn't good quality or what but it looks uneven with hints of the darker purple I wanted on the outskirts of the nails. I thought the pedi was the better of the services. The tech was a little rougher on my hand nails. Anyhow overall this was a 3 start experience but that's Groupon for you. Linda is an amazing nail tech. She went above & beyond my expectations. I always feel rushed when I go to the nail shop but Linda took her time on my mani & pedi and did a wonderful job. She pays great attention to detail; very gentle and caring. She even gave me nice hand and foot massages and used hot towels that I enjoyed! I did apologize for showing up late but she was ranting away. She kept saying how she "hates" it when people show up late. I get that tardiness can cause inconvenience but there's a way to relay that to your customers without yelling at them. She could've simply asked me to reschedule but she was gesturing with her hands unnecessarily and complaining about how the length of my hair was touching my butt and how painful it would be for her to cut, condition and highlight it. I spent about 45 minutes on a Saturday afternoon calling in to different salons around the area, a cut and wash was all over $60 or they were booked until next week.. After what seemed like a hopeless search Groupon led me to Audrey. I raced over as soon as she said 'Just come in'. At first I was extremely skeptical of the location, but as soon as I sat in the chair and started talking to Audrey all my doubts were put to rest. 1. I wanted straight bangs but none of the real commitment since I style it in a long sweeping curled bang sometimes. She kept one side of my bangs longer and gave me a thin layer of bangs so I could tuck it away if I wanted to style it without straight bangs. PERFECT! 2. I needed all my processed, damaged hair off without looking like I cut all my hair off. She kept it exactly at the right length.She knew I wanted to keep it as long as possible, and now my hair is still long somehow and healthy! 3. Her deep conditioning treatment is hair crack. Finally got a haircut... found this place through yelp. Last time I got a cut & color at a "fancy" salon it ran me about $250. I was looking for something more affordable. Audrey was great... I'm the type of person who can never decide what will and will not look good - and I'm super low-maintenance and don't even bother blow drying my hair most days. Audrey probably could see this right away, and gave me a cut that gave me volume without having to use a blow-dryer or any products. She was also SUPER fast - there wasn't a wash prior to the cut (which i'm fine with), and in under 5 minutes she'd cut about 8 inches from my hair, made it look much healthier, and much more flattering to my face. I also told her I wanted to color my hair. At first, she looked at me and said not to do it (which eased my mind about her just suggesting services to be able to charge me more), but then said that I should only color if I was going for a redder hue... which I was. We picked a color together. At first, after it came out, I was shocked at just how red it was, but it's totally grown on me the last few days (plus I think more of the dye washed out while showering) and I love my new hair now. For the price, Audrey can't be beat. A cut + color ran me $120. She didn't really style my hair, but I actually prefer that. I never take the time to style my own hair anyways so it gave me a chance to see what my cut would look like normally. I was visiting my daughter who lives nearby and did a search for hair salons. Needless to say, there were a lot, and it was confusing trying to make a decision since reviews for all salons contain both rave reviews and nightmare experiences. I randomly chose Audrey who took me right away. She was very thorough, proactive (she's about my age so she knew what I needed), and most importantly gave me exactly what I wanted, but wasn't able to realize from stylists in my area. I agree with another reviewer who said she knows exactly how to cut hair so it lays perfectly. The only problem is that I now have to go to LA to get my hair cut. Came because my nail tech, Jeannie of Jeannie's Nails, who used to pamper me by appointment only, at aforementioned not to be named salon, moved her pristine mani/pedi practice here. Less convenient but like I said I'm loyal when I'm being well taken care of, not unlike Audrey Salon's clientele. While Jeannie did my pedicure, I relaxed in one of the two massage chairs, playing with a variety of options to work the kinks out of my back and shoulders and observed skilled stylists transform their loyal clients from shaggy to chic. A bit of a challenge to find, even with GPS (it's just me), northbound, to your immediate right at the Rossmore/Melrose intersection where Rossmore becomes Vine and nestled in a tiny strip center is Audrey Salon. I came for a haircut unsure of what I wanted and Audrey knew exactly what I needed. She re-layered my hair and didn't take too much off of the length which is what I wanted but didn't know how to explain. This review is for my experience from a few months ago. I made an appointment requesting a trim, and was looking for someone who took evening appointments. She took my appointment and quickly consulted with me. She had a contrary vision which she communicated, that I politely didn't agree with. The result was a slice up that took her 10 minutes and cost me $40. I ended up with a shorter shaggy insecure scenester look when the trim was meant to clean me up meanwhile supporting the length I want to achieve. I lived in LA for four years and I haven't found a regular haircut place that I like...until now. I stumbled into Audrey's Salon because I needed a quick bang trim. Audrey was not only accomodating, she was super friendly. She did an awesome job and listened to me when I said I didn't want them too short. She is very efficient with your time and is easy to talk to. I recently got a full haircut from Audrey and I was very pleased with her knowledge of hair. She definitely knows how your hair should fall to look most flattering. I've never had a dry haircut done and came with my hair wet thinking it would speed the process up. She ended up having to blowdry it saying that she wanted to see the actual length in order to not cut too much off. I definitely only wanted a trim and she listened to me. I've gone to too many other places that try to tell you what's best and ignore what you want. My experience here is the exact opposite. Audrey looks at your hair and makes sure you have plenty of style options, that it will look good up and down, curled or straight. The other day, I took a chance on Memorial Day and stopped by. The door was locked, but Audrey came running out and welcomed me in. She was in the salon cleaning up and offered to do my bang trim. I was so pleasantly surprised that she was this accomodating. I think I'm a fan for life! Audrey definitely is a great cutter and a really sweet person who doesn't overcharge you. I am so relieved to find a cutter who is nonjudgmental and kind. Just had the most rewarding waxing experience. Wait is that possible? I mean it's not like I wake up first thing in the morning and I say I feel like having hair ripped off of my body however, it just happened to be one of the most enjoyable experiences to date that I've had getting waxed. I got a Groupon for a mani-pedi. They only take appointments, no walk-ins. Takes at least a week to get an appointment. I walked in, no one greeted me. The front of the salon is for hair. I noticed two nail techs in the back. I walked there and told the lady I have an appointment at 12. She looked annoyed that I was there. The pedicure was fine. But when she started cutting my cuticles on my pinky finger she cut deep into my skin...and proceeded to use alcohol products. I tipped her, she didn't even say thank you. I love Audrey. I love coming to Audrey and I would only trust Audrey to touch my hair. I have nothing but much appreciation for Audrey. She has been cutting my whole family's hair for years now. She's very particular on how she cuts your hair. You can show her a photo and she will exactly copy it to your liking and add a little bit of her Audrey touch. I purchased a groupon and it stated I had to mention to the merchant that I had made the purchase through groupon before I set up the appointment. I called twice, and left voicemail and never received a returned call. I called a third time and finally spoke to Audrey.
