I have never felt compelled to write a good review about a car dealership or car salesman but our experience at Auffenberg Hyundai in O'Fallon, IL was such a great experience that I just had to do it. The whole sale took only about 35 mins because we had our price set and they already had a vehicle on the lot that met all our criteria and was actually already way less then we had researched as a good price. Our salesman, Scott, was not pushy or your typical sleazy car guy. He was great. Can't recommend, Scott, highly enough. Been trying for two months to get a part ordered. Every time we go in, they tell us the last person did not order it and to come back in two weeks. I have bought four cars here, but will never buy another. Everything is great until you need service. This is not the first time service here has been terrible. They have tried to avoid working in items on the bumper to bumper warranty multiple times over the years, but they have never just ignored me until this time. Avoid them all together read more

If you are looking for honesty, good customer service, or a good car buying experience you better look somewhere else. I purchased a new vehicle thinking it had all the features I was told it had and after signing all the paperwork and getting it home I find out it doesn't have the features I was told it had on the car. Then a "manager" lied to me about interest rates and high pressured me into the sale. I find out later he's just a car salesman who goes in and tries to seal the deal. The actual manager could of cared less about making me happy. He basically said there was miscommunication and that I signed my name 15 times on the paperwork and that the car was mine. Never will I ever go back here to buy anything. I will not even be getting service on my new car at this place. I will go elsewhere. read more

Recently bought a 2012 Toyota Highlander from Jerry Fisher here. I have always been leery of dealerships but Jerry changed my mind about car salesmen. He is a genuine, trustworthy, professional. I took my '02 Accent in for its 60K service (new timing belt). I also had some warranty stuff needed like a flickering dash panel, dodgy rear window defrost control and broken outside door handle. ALL of the work was completed the same day, the warranty stuff was completed gratis and the $350.00 for the 60K service seems reasonable. All in all, I am pleased with their service department. read more

First, I'd like to tell anyone reading this: This dealership is rock bottom when it comes to customer service. I took a Hyundai Veloster in for service when it started to have transmission problems (e.g. Stalling in the middle of the road). Auffenberg service department repeatedly told me that there was nothing wrong with the car, all because it wasn't throwing any CEL codes. I had to resort to calling Hyundai Corporate to force the dealership to accept the car until they could diagnose and fix my issue. All while I was dealing with this, getting a loaner car from them was extremely hard. EVERY time I asked they told me that they didn't have any in (hello... This is a corporate-sanctioned warranty repair... Give me one out of your lot!!!). I finally got a call from them about a week later... And it WASN'T GOOD NEWS. Although they fixed my car, A TECH HAD WRECKED IT IN THEIR PARKING LOT. WTF?? I fought and fought with them until they agreed to buy my car back and give me a new car. They eventually did, which I appreciated, which is why I have them two stars. However, every time I bring my car in for service I get a smug attitude from that department. They are not willing to "serve the customer" so to speak. I'm not demanding in any way... But my dealership back home in Florida went above and beyond in regards to customer service. I purchased a brand new Hyundai Tucson from here, complete with the 100,000 mi power train/bumper to bumper warranty. The salesman gave us the usual runaround that is typical of most salesmen (he kept having to step out of the office to talk things over with his manager during negotiation, which never took less than 10 mins of us sitting in his office waiting). My main complaint, however, is the follow-up service. As I mentioned, we purchased the warranty. Every time we have had to contact the service department because of anything (recalls, service, oil changes, etc), our calls are not returned or we are told "we don't cover that/warranty doesn't cover that". Understandably, the warranty is limited; however, this dealership won't even fix recalls?! We contacted the nationwide Hyundai recall center & they suggested we use a different Hyundai dealership's service department & informed us that we are not the only customers who have complained about this! The nationwide Hyundai recall center said they have received multiple customer calls regarding Auffenberg Hyundai's refusal to provide follow-up service. So we contacted a Hyundai dealership in St Louis MO, which is a farther drive for us. Our experience has been more positive with their service department-they actually fix our recalls/honor the warranty we paid for! I am not a person that complains; however, I am a person who appreciates descent customer service or at the very least, getting the service you PAID for. read more

Stay away - we bought two cars from the Auffenberg Hyundai O'Fallon IL location. It will be the last money we ever spend with that company. When we purchased both cars we also purchased extended warranty plans. Within this plan includes free car pickup, loaner car, free oil change. After about 18 months of using this service we were told the business would no longer pick up our car for the oil changes. We do not live close to the location and without the car pickup for oil changes we would never go there to get the oil changed. We found out about this by accident when we called to schedule a pickup. The company never notified us of this change in the warranty plan. Of course, we were highly pis*** . I spoke several times to Chris Elliott and we agreed that since a portion of the plan we purchased was no longer being offered, Auffenberg would reimburse us a total of $500. This agreement was made on October 7th. We are still waiting for our check - I have called numerous times always getting the we are working on it - I submitted the paper work - I will make sure I personally have the check tomorrow - well it is now Dec 20th and no check. My last call two weeks ago said I was no longer happy with $500 - it was now $750 and would go up $250 per week. Of course no response and no check. This company does not want to keep its customers happy or fulfill its commitments. DO NOT spend money with this company. read more

Do not lease a vehicle I have never felt so cheated. I turned in my leased vehicle and got a 850 bill in the mail with excess use charges. They were stating that the door on the drivers side had multiple dings in it. Where they clearly stated in the excess use the ding has to be larger then 1/2 of an inch in order to be charged. BUYER BEWARE! The *NTSB* Lists 211 current recalls on KIA Products. Most of the positive reviews for this dealership are from people who just bought new a car. Who doesn't feel proud of their new car. It's the product quality, and service that determines a repeat buyer. My wife and I purchased a brand new Kia Sorrento off the lot at Auffenberg Kia. Almost immediately we noticed a buzzing noise coming from the drivers side front fender. After 4 separate trips back to the dealership over almost a year, the head mechanic had finally gathered enough information from the other dealerships to fix the noise. In his own words "Sorry but there was a piece of plastic that was improperly installed at the factory, so we sprayed foam up into the front fender assembly to seal the piece that was loose". Our Kia Sorrento has never been driven off-road and currently has 80k Miles on it which conveniently puts it out of warranty. Recently we developed another sound in the same area of the front end. After taking it back to the Auffenberg Dealership in O'Fallon Il. we were told that the front drivers side coil spring had rusted completely through and broke. This spring is made out of 3/4 inch diameter steel. According to the mechanic that fixed it (Auffenberg KIA refused to do anything without being paid $2140.00) "This coil spring should never break under normal driving conditions." Two front coil springs, two front struts, and a front end alignment latter we are out $1600.00. Our mechanic informed us that he has seen this problem numerous times on the Kia Sorrento and Optima. That there are also active recalls for these two models where the vehicle will slip out of park randomly and the engine will seize up due improper machining of the engine bearings at the factory. CONCLUSION: KIA stands for Korean International Auto. Where do you think they get the steel to build these vehicles. If you guessed CHINA, then you are probably right. Based upon the lack of interest in the dealership's management to help rectify our situation, and on the advise of our mechanic, we will never buy another KIA product again. I am sure that the dealer will say something rosy about how they would like to help rectify this situation. Trust me their words are meaningless. Smile for the camera after you buy. Chances are it will be the last time your happy with your purchase. CAVEAT EMPTOR! read more

Our salesperson, Kevin, was wonderful. We went in to drive the Hyundai Elantra which my husband had seen on their website. Kevin greeted us and took us on a test drive, asking if we wanted to do the highway and city streets so we could get the complete experience. We let him know that we were from Missouri, and he came with us and sat in the back so he could direct us. While my husband drove, he pointed out all of the benefits of the Elantra. We picked out a color and had a moment of dissatisfaction because we did not want to pay the price before all of the discounts- half of which we did not qualify for. He got his manager for us and we left to test drive a Chevy Cruz. Honestly, Kevin did such a good job explaining the superior driving experience of the Elantra that we were not happy with settling for the Cruz. We went back and told Kevin we would take it. One of the finance people had called in, so we had to wait a couple of hours to sign the paperwork, and Kevin checked on us and made sure we were comfortable and explained additional features. Our finance guy was great when we finally were able to see him. He got us in and out quickly. The only complaint I have is that I wonder why a manager was not able to help the finance dept with the paperwork. In my experience, a manager should be able to step up and help when needed. Otherwise, great experience! Kevin was wonderful and finance- I'm sorry, I do not remember his name- was nice, efficient and fast. I felt sorry for him having to do everything on his own, although he did not complain. We love our car, and will recommend Auffenberg and Kevin to anyone looking for a car. read more

This is the first review I have ever written online. I chose yelp because when I googled Auffenberg Hyundai yelp had the highest rating and would be seen first. I visited the dealership yesterday to look at a used Jeep Commander. From the start the salesman was rude, disinterested, and simply unfriendly. I really liked the vehicle so I asked what they could do as far as terms and my trade in which blue booked and NADA's for 10,100. Salesman took my keys, went and talked to his boss, then came back and said it would be a few minutes. After a 30 minute wait the guy finally showed back up. He told me we had a great car and offered us 7000 on the trade. I was appauled as 10,100 was the low end trade for my vehicle and a quick search of area dealerships showed my car with many more miles being sold for far more than 10,100. I told the guy thanks but no thanks. This is when it really got bad and he began to bad mouth us. I told the guy to get my keys I was leaving and he said ok. Realizing I was going to be left in the lobby for another 30 minutes I walked back to the salesmanagers office to retrieve my own keys only to find three of them and our salesman sitting down bad mouthing us, he wasn't even getting my keys. I took my keys and left the premesis. I have an 800 credit score and they lost a possible lifetime customer. Furthermore I will never, never, never shop anywhere that has the Auffenberg name attached to it as a result. Rude, terrible customer service, and just all around sleasy car salesmen! read more

I bought a used vehicle at this dealership in August 2013. However, when I went to register my vehicle in Missouri, I was told the title did not match the vin number. Needless to say, I had to drive all the way back to O'Fallon and had to do all of the paperwork all over again. I couldn't even believe they would not even offer to put gas in my car for the 92 mile trip I had to travel to fix their mistake, not to mention the $159 I lost in wages because I had to take off work to get their mistake fixed. On 2/4/15, I purchased a 2014 Hyundai Tuscon in Diamond Silver. This was the 4th auto I purchased from Auffenberg Hyundai in 6 years. First, I told my salesperson, Jim, twice that I was pre-approved with Scott Credit Union and told the Finance Manager this twice as well. While paying for the car, the Finance Manager said "We are going with BMO Harris." When I inquired why I wouldn't use SCU since I was pre-approved with them, he said "We haven't heard back from them on your application." He then signed me to a financing deal almost a full percentage rate higher than I was pre-approved for with SCU as well as Gap Coverage for $800 instead of the $350 it would have cost me with SCU. After purchasing the car, less than 30 days later, I spoke to SCU and decided to refinance with them. The loan manager looked into my situation and informed me that AUFFENBERG HYUNDAI NEVER SENT MY LOAN APPLICATION TO THEM ALTHOUGH I HAD TOLD THEM MULTIPLE TIMES I WAS PRE-APPROVED WITH SCU. My husband and I went to the dealership and spoke to the Finance Manager who completed our purchase. He was not apologetic and had me sign a form to cancel the Gap Coverage and stated I would get my refund in a few weeks. It's been 5 weeks later and no refund. We spoke to another employee who looked into my refund and said the Finance Manager at Auffenberg Hyundai NEVER SENT IN THE CANCELLATION REQUEST TO PROCESS THE REFUND. Now, no one is returning our calls or responding to our emails. All I want is my $800 refund. The Better Business Bureau will now be resolving the situation and I will take all of my future auto business elsewhere. read more

Sitting here for two hours for an oil change. I had an appointment and I'm a "priority club" member which I paid a lot for. Someone just walked by and asked what I was waiting for. When I told them they came back and said they'd get me in next. Gee thanks. I guess an appointment time means two hours later. Guess I'll be getting to work today a lot later than I hoped. I purchased a car from Jason Hall @ the Ford North location & within 30 days the check engine light came on. When I called & asked him about having it serviced he told me the light had to be on in order to diagnose the problem. I later found out this was incorrect information. I was finally able to get the car in for what Autozone had diagnosed as O2 sensor issues & it cost me $300! When I spoke with the manager (Ron Cannon) he said his "hands were tied" & they would not help me in any way! BEWARE!!! read more

If I could give this dealership zero stars, I would. We had a new and inexperienced salesman, Dan Westlund. The fact that he was new did not bother me, I know he was learning the ropes. He had a difficult time with the negotiation and explaining where all these costs were coming from. After over an hour of negotiations, and getting nowhere, the sales manager came (I forgot his name) came over and rudely barked at us what he would offer us. He even at one point told Dan to "be quiet" when he tried to help explain. I couldn't believe how rude and disrespectful this manager was to not only a customer but also his own employee right in front of a customer! We were then told be three different employees that when we are sent a survey, we need to give our sale man "all 10s" on the 1 to 10 scale because it hurts the salesman and the dealership. I'm sorry, don't tell me how to take a survey. Lastly, we were told by Dan that the car we purchased had an autostart in the car that could be accessed via blue link. Recently we went to use this feature as the temps are dropping and found out that our model does not have an auto start. When I went back to Dan to tell him this, he told me I would have to pay to have it installed now!!! The autostart was one reason why we bought this car, we even specifically asked about it when we were on the lot choosing a vehicle. He admits that he did not know (because he is new) but is now unwilling to correct his mistake. I am trying to talk to someone else up higher on the chain, but I expect no help from the terrible sales manager that we had to talk to when we bought the car. I am so incredibly disappointed with my experience at this dealership, I will NEVER go to another Auffenberg dealer again!! read more

OK I am a Medically retired US Army Vet and I reciently visited this particular dealership in order to lease a Hyundai Sante Fe due to it ranking as the lowest price mid-size SUV according to a well acclaimed Media source. I need a taller vehicle for my injurries because the current one is just complicating my disability more. I am a open and honest person so I explain my needs and the reasons for them and the sales assosiate asked what branch I served. He then compared his pure state side service to my multiple combat deployment service(irritating) after that I explained that I had brain damage and my wife would be handling all of the finance questions and he remarked about how I seemed fine to him. At this point I wanted to rip out all my army and VA documents (which my wife brought with us) and shove it in his face. He then proceeded to make the 33000 vehicle out to be the best of the best and completely out of our reach and how we were trading in a car that was only worth 7000 (2010 Ford Fusion with light hail damage). We knew going in that we would have to put money down because we are slightly upside down so we offered to pay that portion off. I understand that most people want what they can not have and as soon as someone tells them they can not have something they will do whatever they have to do to get it but I am not that person. So he left us sitting for a long time which only gave me time to decide it was really time to leave. Finally he came back and I can only assume that he thought I was stupid and started to play the numbers game and said if we paid 5000 down then we would get the payments down close to 500 dollars per month for 36 (I think) months. I told him from the beginning I could not do more then 400 and he said ok that might be doable but after looking at the money coming in I guess he thought I could afford way more then that which irritates me because he has no idea what my finanical situation is. Just because I look good on paper and I have a great credit score doesn't mean I am not struggling or that I even want a huge car payment. At any rate never again. I left feeling insulted and angry because I felt he downplayed the fact that I have been to combat many times, was hurt while fighting for our great country, and wouldn't work within my budget. read more

I really wish I had not bought my car from this dealership. I had to wait a week for my dad to come to town to cosign my loan. I told the salesman Kevin this but I guess he did not believe me because he called me multiple times everyday until I picked up my car. I recently got a chip in my windshield and the service department is so unprofessional. I called yesterday and the guy who answered the phone could not answer my questions so he had me leave a message and said I would get a call back right away. No one bothered to call me back. I called today and the girl that answered the phone also could not answer my questions. She put me on hold so she could go ask her supervisor and then came back and told me windshields were not covered under my warranty. When I asked what was covered under my warranty she told me she would have to go ask again. She put me on hold again and then transferred me to someone's voice mail. I left a message and again never got a call back. I called back up there after two hours, and said I wanted to talk to a supervisor. The supervisor apologized and said he was transferred to this dealership three weeks ago to fix the staff and even said "It's been a nightmare". I was then informed that they can not even fix chipped windshields at this dealership and was referred to a different company. They do not know what they are talking about at this dealership. The only reason I went with this company after dealing with an unprofessional salesman is because I was under a deadline to get a refund on the taxes from the insurance company of the person who totaled my old car. I really wish I had gone to another dealership because this is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. read more
