We dropped into Augie's on Main yesterday after visiting the Farmer's Market. Murphy the Doodle was welcomed warmly and enjoyed sitting on the patio with us where he mingled with other canine friends. From two-starred Michelin chef and Santa Monica native Josiah Citron (Citron and Melisse), the small eatery features such yummy dishes as Dirty Chicken Sandwiches, Roast Beef sandwiches, Salads and a plethora of yummy sides. The Dirty Chicken was a fried breast topped with tomato and pickles, plus sauce, and delicious coleslaw. My husband enjoyed the Roast Beef sandwich and we shared the Froggy Fresh Fries, Corn Ribs. and Mac and Cheese. Service was so nice and friendly and the ambience was casual and outdoorsy. We loved the food and will most definitely return.

Dirty chicken. Served either baked or deep fried (tenders only). Had the tenders with chix drippings sauce. Bomb! I'll be back for the baked chicken combo!

Popped by for lunch on a Thursday. Street parking readily available with reasonable meters. Order at the counter and take a seat in their cute alley seating area or right on Ocean like we did to enjoy the sunshine. We both opted for the same thing: Roasted chicken. Tender (good size) strips on a SOFT and delicious baquette with argula and a dijon mustard spread. Served with a side of chicken drippings. The sandwich was perfect. Usually baquettes albeit delicious have a crust that is a bit too crusty and too tough to chew through easily. Not the problem here. The chicken is also so tender and spiced nicely. The real kick is the dijon mustard that coats the bottom. A real delight. We also got a side of the corn ribs served elote style. These were good but I have to say, that this is probably not a veggie for me. A lot healthier than the traditional elote corn served in cobless and that I avoid. But to each their own! I'll try another veggie next time! Service was great. I am always a bit skeptical about paying for service before it is delivered. Will I get bad service if I don't pay up? Am I wasting money on semi-table service? Don't worry! The food was delivered promptly and better yet, our server/counter person also gave us courtesy water BEFORE all the food arrived. The way to go! I'll be back!

Great beef roast beef sandwich!! (mustard is a bit strong but that's ok) and quick service. Perfect to grab to go or eat there. Music in the patio is nice

Roasted dirty chicken, corn ribs, brocollini

One can get the "dirty chicken" at Michelin-starred Citrin for two for $86. At Augie's, you can try this "fancy" rotisserie chicken for $26 or so including two sides (with tax and tip). The dirty chicken plate is beautiful. It's perfect for the 'gram..but does it deliver on flavor? Unfortunately, the rotisserie chicken is quite bland. You will definitely need ketchup to give it flavor. The chicken reminds me of Whole Foods whole rotisserie chicken. It would be nice if they had some sauces other than ketchup packets available upon request. The Augie's rotisserie is not as juicy or delicious as the wood-fired rotisserie Peruvian chicken from Pollo a la Brasa in Gardena/Koreatown or Listo el Pollo in Reseda which are my favorite rotisserie chickens in LA. I did enjoy the options available on the sides menu. Once you look at the side options you will know that this is not your ordinary fast casual restaurant. My favorite was the brocollini. I love brocollini and I make it at home. It really pairs well with a nice protein. It is something that I enjoy ordering as a side at a steakhouse. The corn ribs "elote" was fine. I wasn't too crazy about the sauce. The next time I am in the area, I will try the fried chicken tenders. It would be interesting to try fried chicken from Michelin-starred chef, Josiah Citrin and head over to Joshua Skenes' Happies Handmade to compared the chicken tenders from two Michelin-starred chefs. You'll have to order from the touch screen, but there's someone available there if you have any questions or need help placing your order. Parking is a long Main Street. I imagine it would be more difficult to find parking over the weekend.

The roasted chicken is juicy and moist. Has panko breadcrumbs for those who are looking for a crunch. The broccolini is cooked well with a slight sweetness. And ratatouille is solid side. Best roasted chicken for those looking for healthy chicken. A nice tribute to the chef's son.

Came here with high hopes and left feeling very mid. CHICKEN Aesthetically the food looked great, but the chicken was a bit dry and relied on the sauce for flavor. Breading was good but no better than Raising Canes. My boyfriend got the chicken nuggets and those were better but still relied on the sauce for its seasoning. SIDES Mac n cheese was cold and lacked flavor. Coleslaw was pretty good. SERVICE Not sure if the staff were having a bad day, but the main counter gal didn't know anything about the menu and whenever I asked a question she said to look at the kiosk (which I was already looking at lol). Likewise when I asked for a Togo box she gave me a hard time about it as if asking to take something to go was an issue.

The Dirty Chicken was on point! Got it with 2 side: coleslaw and Potato's and it was fuego! Check out my full review on YouTube!

Small spot on Main Street with lots of seating! Love the option to self start your order at the kiosk. All street parking on Main Street. I got the fried chicken sandwich and made it spicy. Unfortunately there wasn't much spice. Not sure if it supposed to be the sauce or a dry seasoning but def wasn't spicy. Also there wasn't much chicken in it, mostly breading. A bit disappointed :(

Pricey fried chicken with minimal and dry meat. The service took a minute but was made to order. But it's nothing to write home about. I was visiting in the area and heard good things but was disappointed. There were other guests there that claim everything in the menu was good. But maybe I prefer Korean fried chicken?

If you're visiting the area, I highly recommend making a stop here. My biggest piece of advice is to go early because it gets incredibly busy by lunchtime--and for good reason! Keep in mind they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. While you can order online, I'll always choose to go inside so I can browse everything they have to offer. Their selection of fresh pasta salads is fantastic, and the desserts are always tempting. Whether you're craving lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, a chicken Parmesan sandwich, or one of their many other Italian specialties, you really can't go wrong. Be sure to check out the wine section in the back left of the market. It's extensive and absolutely incredible! This is the kind of place that keeps people coming back year after year, and it's easy to see why. Being Italian American and growing up with an Italian mother who loved feeding everyone, this was one of our favorite places to visit together. Those memories make every trip here even more special. My personal favorite is the Godmother sandwich--hands down one of the best you'll ever have. It's packed with flavor, made with quality ingredients, and it's the sandwich I find myself craving every time I come back. One of the things I love most about this place is the atmosphere. It has an energy that immediately makes you think of family. Everyone is genuinely kind, welcoming, and happy to help, making you feel right at home the moment you walk through the door. It has that warm, old-school Italian family vibe that's becoming harder and harder to find, and it's a big part of what makes this place so special.

I ordered The Old Sport, my husband had The Peter, and our three-year-old daughter went with the classic PB&J. We all absolutely LOVED our sandwiches. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the ingredients are refreshingly simple. I really appreciate that they don't use fake processed meats -- they keep it straightforward, yet the sandwiches are still outstanding. The bread deserves a mention too: crisp on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside. I rarely hand out five stars, but they've earned it here. Making sandwiches taste this good with such simple and whole ingredients is no easy feat, yet they pull it off nicely. Highly recommend this spot for both carnivores and vegans alike!

I loved the caramelized onions and mushrooms in Wanda. The bread was top 10 breads we've tried. The lettuce was crispy and the tomatoes had a bite. The $20 sandwiches are a little sticker shocking considering there is no protein. Maybe the cheeses are made from nuts. I would definitely appreciate like a marinated tofu slice or even slab or tempeh with the existing dressings/sauces. The old sport had the chickpeas so we'll get that next time. My partner was obsessed with the walnut date syrup brownie.

Their mozzarella sandwich is a masterpiece with Fresh Ovoline Mozzarella, Avocado, Alfalfa Sprouts, Pickled Red Onion and a delicious Za'atar Spread. What makes it stand out as one of the best sandwiches in LA is the bread. They make their own focaccia several times a day and it is divine. Probably the only other place that can dare to match their creations is La Zucca at the Beverly Hills Cheese Store. Some of our other favorites is the tuna sandwich. Service is always on point and the sandwich travels well for consuming it at home. There isn't a ton of space to sit, but there is some counter style seating. Tip: Their menu is limited by choice. This tiny Santa Monica wine-and-cheese concept debuted in 2016, and their charcuterie boards earned acclaim from Oprah and The New York Times alike. During the pandemic, Lady & Larder ventured into the sandwich game, and the result was a resounding success. Nowadays, the not-so-secret "Secret Lunch" lineup of gourmet sandwiches is among the best in Los Angeles. The tiny Santa Monica shop shares the block with a Sherwin-Williams and a boxing gym. Cross your fingers for metered street parking on the trafficky block of Pico. Outside, red metal patio furniture is shaded by the overhanging storefront. Natural light runs through multicolored windows to the shop within. The mosaic tiled floor is effortlessly chic. The soaring whitewashed walls are minimally decorated, while shelves and refrigerators are carefully curated with wines, cheeses, tinned fish, and candles. The tablet register is set up on a worn kitchen countertop. Soft, instrumental music immediately feels welcoming. I've visited multiple times for early weekend lunch, and our Toast pre-order was ready upon arrival. We grabbed a table outside, and numerous takeout customers popped in and out during our meal. My favorite was the Disco Only. This elevated turkey club featured an impressive depth of flavor, from the sharp alpine cheese to the rich garlic mayo to the tangy pepperoncini vinegar. The thick-cut Bub and Grandma's sesame bread held up admirably well, and the arugula added a welcome fresh factor. The proteins were plentiful but were outshone by the other components. I also loved the Hot Girl Salami. The sweet-and-hot mustard and crispy baguette accentuated the rich, almost buttery salami. Meanwhile, the Venice Cowgirl was like a cheeseboard on a baguette. The sweet peaches and apricot-habanero jam dominated the subtly rich cheese or thin prosciutto, but the sandwich nonetheless proved to be a unique, summery option worth sharing. Lastly, the Yes, Honey elevated the ham-and-cheese with tangy relish, but the other components felt standard and forgettable. The service was friendly and efficient, and sandwiches ran for $15-20 each. Overall, the food tasted like the Santa Monica Farmer's Market on a premium roll, with sandos ranging from good to excellent. They are worth a dedicated visit if you're in the neighborhood, and I can't wait to work my way through more of Lady & Larder's menu.
