Sigh :( I love Aunt Cookies. A staple of my childhood. But wow their staff needs some anger management classes. Lil' miss frumpy sub maker lady did not wake up on the right side of the bed today. When I asked if I would receive a text when my to-go order was ready, the response was "where do you think you are New York City?" in a tone that was more hostile than all the burroughs combined. But I knew exactly where I was and my tone and question did not deserve a response like this. Frumpy sub maker lady continued to dish out her rudeness saying that we were wasting her time for asking questions and sarcastically gave back the tip we had given. My tone never shifted from start to finish, even after calling out the poor service. I do not like to call out establishments, especially local businesses, but holy shit she was rude. Probably the rudest food service experience I've ever had. Best sub rolls in upstate ny though...that will always be true. It is always a choice to be an asshole. If frumpy sub maker lady reads this -- it is ALWAYS a choice. Choose kindness, my dear :) Just because your day is ruined by having to make a few subs, it doesn't mean you have to try to ruin someone else's day. read more

Sadly, we left with a bad taste and no food. Went in about 20 mins after they opened and were told it would be about 30 minutes before they could make 1 sub for us. The 2 guys were "doing the best they could" with 5 online orders which they chose to put before the only customers in the store. Not sure when online orders became priority over in-person customers? Won't be going back until the customer service is restored to what we remember, likely when it comes under new ownership. Used to be such a good place for food! read more

This place is a local legend. I had the occasion to try it finally and I can see why. Friendly service, generous portions, reasonable wait time. I ordered a steak sub that was prepared just right - fixings were perfect, steak well-seasoned and juicy. Luckily they had an open table where I could hang out and enjoy my edible work of art! We stopped at Aunt Cookies sub shop for a quick bite during our travel. The place was really busy but Kat at the counter patiently took our order and also helped set up a table for us based on our request. We ordered 2 12" veggie subs with extra toppings - olives, pickle and green peppers in seeded bread. The subs were very fresh and bread was delicious. It was perfectly made and the portion was generous. We really enjoyed our meal - special shout out to Kat for amazing service! Only feedback would be on very limited vegetarian options, would be interesting see creativity around few veg options. We hit up this place on move-in day at SUNY Geneseo on a whim. Definitely was not disappointed in the quality of the sub. I ordered the Italian Assorted Sub and it was great. The meat combination (Ham, Cappicola, Italian Salami) was better than a Wegmans Italian in my mind. The service was attentive and pretty fast considering it was busy and is right on Main Street next to the campus. I loved the shop overall for its ambiance which stuck to its original roots, even having the original sub sign with the prices when it opened on the wall. The next time I am at Geneseo and I want a sub, I would definitely skip over Wegmans and Subway to get an Aunt Cookies sub. read more

At the advice of friends, we stopped here to pickup lunch for a picnic in Letchworth State Park. This unassuming shop has great sandwiches on the BEST breads. We had our subs on Italian bread which was lightly toasted. Toppings and condiments were fresh and generous. The mac salad reminded me of something I enjoyed as a kid at a family reunion. We also snagged some Loganberry, which I've not had since college. This was a great stop and we will be back to fuel up for our future Letchworth hikes. When my boyfriend said he wanted to drive 45 for a sub, I was skeptical. How could a sub be different, unique, and amazing?? Well it was worth the drive! I think the main thing that sets them apart is that they slightly toast the bread prior to putting anything in it which gives it a really nice taste and texture - I don't know any other sub place that does this. Stopped for lunch today based on yelp reviews and this sub shop did not disappoint! I think it's really hard to find a really well made sub with great bread-and I have to say this was one of the best subs I've ever had. The bread was fresh, tasty and perfectly toasted. High quality deli meat as well. Also, a large sub is a lot of food so it's great to share or save the other half for later. The macaroni salad was also delicious and one of the best I've eaten. Here is the deal, I used to go here back in the 70's when they were in Brockport NY . That being said, a sandwich is as only good as the bread and ingredients it is served on. When you grow up around NYC you are spoiled with the very best of all. This place is good when you are so drunk and cardboard just won't cut it. They are cheap with meat cheese etc and overload with lettuce filler. They are still in business which tells me people in that region wouldn't no what was goodi if bit them in the Ass. This sub place is a staple to the Geneseo community. It also has some of the best subs I have ever had in my life. I keep wanting to try other meats, but always get the first one I ever tried because its so good. I get the Italian assorted with all the standard toppings. It is toasted to perfection! After reading the reviews, my husband and I decided to try Aunt Cookies Subs while passing through Geneseo. After opening our subs, while the bread looked tasty, our subs overall were disappointing. We both ordered ham, but they were more like lettuce subs instead. The meat/lettuce ratio was way off and the total amount of ham on each sub was subpar (2 pieces thick). The bread on the other hand was delicious. In addition my husband's sub didn't have all of the toppings requested. The subs are fabulous! The rolls are fresh And toasted!! I ordered a half a turkey sub with bacon. It is a huge half of a sub. It comes with all the fixings and there are plenty of others you can add including pickles and peppers. They are generous with their meat. I didn't even finish my half. I was not crazy for the macaroni salad, but that is my personal preference. It tasted like it was made with Miracle Whip. I don't know if it was, but it tasted sweet. Others may love it! Ahhhh these subs are SO good! We were passing through town with some friends who swore that this place had the best subs. At first I was like, ok guys it's just subs...but they were speaking the truth!! Small little place with a few tables and vending machines for drinks. I ordered a half turkey sub with mayo, lettuce, onions and banana peppers. They toast all of their bread and it's delicious. Honestly, I NEVER get my subs toasted so I was a little shocked to see that they only offer the bread toasted. However, the toasted bread is perfect, thin but not too think and the toasted part adds the perfect amount of crunch while still maintaining the softness of the bread. Jesus Christ, I love this place. There's something special about the rolls here that make the rest of the sub spectacular. It's kind of like combining Misty May and Kerri Walsh. Sure, the turkey here is top-notch, but when you add the toasted Italian roll, you have a championship team that will spike a volleyball at your face and have you crawling back to Latvia. My personalized sub here is turkey and swiss on Italian, with oil, lettuce, tomato, and banana peppers. Don't get the "hot peppers;" it's a hot pepper relish, of some sort, that will leave your insides on fire until it erupts out of your body like molten lava. The drink selection via vending machines is also awesome and features white tea, green tea, Starbuck frappucino, 2-3 kinds of milk, pop, and a large selection of SoBe products. Only bad thing: Aunt Cookie's doesn't accept credit cards, so be prepared. read more

I got a turkey and swiss on wheat sub here to go. I was surprised how empty it was but maybe it had to do with school not being in session or something. The interior is drab and dingy, with discolored carpeting and cheap menu boards, so the draw of this place is definitely not the ambiance. The sub was better than average. The bread lives up to the hype and compensates for the meat which is packaged supermarket cold cut grade. I like how the menu has plenty of options but not too many, and ordering was pretty straightforward. The price is not competitive at all, probably more expensive than wegmans, but I guess a little price inflation is the norm in college towns. I didn't feel totally ripped off but you definitely pay for more than what you are getting. read more

While this is my favorite sub shop. I've been really disappointed my last 2 visits. I keep finding the workers without their masks on and they immediately put it on when I come in. I said something to all 3 women and not one apologized for it today. One in fact, she was a red head gave me an attitude. I told them I was now going to report it. As a nurse I wear a mask daily. They should as well I don't want to get sick because they are being lazy or just don't think they are going to get covid or spread it. Please correct this behavior. read more

What a great experience my daughter and I had when we stopped in to the sub shop two days ago. We were just meeting for a quick bite to eat in the middle of our workdays and the staff of two young ladies was so pleasant and nice. We were able to get a sub made and eat outside very quickly. Positive attitudes and great customer service and the cherry on the top was their thoughtfulness. We were delighted when they brought us a complimentary cookie for dessert.
