We love mall pretzels. Since I was at the Brea Mall for an errand, I decided to redeem a promo code…read moreat this location. Every time I pass by this kiosk, the display is full, but one can also tell that the pretzels have been out of the oven for awhile, "cooking" under the heat lights so they are not as soft and fresh as other locations, i.e. Ontario Mills kiosk in the foot court. Since the employee was busy filling bags of Wetzel Bitz, their back was towards the register. I waited for a bit before saying "hi" to not throw them off of "scare" them. Wetzel's Original (w/ butter, no salt) Sinful Cinnamon I was able to redeem my promo through the app easily. Overall, my experience was as expected but nothing above and beyond.

I'm not fluent in English, but I can communicate basic things clearly. When I ordered a Mango Fresh Boba Lemonade, the cashier kept asking me what I wanted -- more than five times -- even though I clearly said the same thing each time. It honestly felt like she was pretending not to understand me. Then she entered the wrong item, and when I corrected her, she asked again without any clear explanation. She never mentioned that the Mango Fresh Boba Lemonade only comes in one size, which caused even more confusion. The worst part came afterward. While I was using Google Translate to explain to the manager, I noticed two employees (a woman and a man) laughing and mocking me as I typed. That was extremely humiliating, especially in front of my children. I left the store feeling disrespected and discriminated against because of my race and my limited English. No customer should ever be treated this way. I hope Wetzel's Pretzels takes this seriously and provides proper training to their staff, so that no one else has to experience such disrespect again.

I had a $5 off reward to use on my Wetzel's account, and it was going to expire in a week. I was originally planning to use it at the Lakewood or Cerritos locations, which are much closer to me. However, after catching a movie at the nearby Regal Cinemas, I spotted this standalone Wetzel's Pretzels and figured why not use my $5 reward here instead? And also to see how it would compare to the locations I've been to inside a mall. When I came in, the first thing I noticed was how long the front counter was; it ran almost the length of the pretzel shop! In the back was where they made the pretzels, and you could see a little bit of how they roll the dough into the pretzel shapes. Faith was the employee who rang me up, and her service was more like whatever. Like she was helpful in answering my questions, but she had more of an eh kind of attitude that I think she would much rather have been watching a movie at the aforementioned Regal instead. As an example, I asked Faith what the three-fingered orange symbol was next to some of the menu items, and she had no clue (or maybe pretended?) as to what I was saying. I had to be more descriptive as if English were her second language, and she finally understood what I meant. Those orange symbols signified menu items that were available only at this location. And just when I was considering getting a Jalaroni pretzel, which I've gotten several times at the Lakewood and Cerritos locations, I was sold on trying an item that I could *not* get at either of the malls. The two Twistz, Pizza Bomb and Triple Grilled Cheese, were both exclusive to the La Habra location, and even when there was a photo of the Pizza Bomb, it was hard for me to make sense out of what exactly it was. Faith's response to my initial inquiry of the Pizza Bomb simply was to look at the photo, but I wanted her to clarify more about what it was. Since the Pizza Bomb felt like a Triple Grilled Cheese with some marinara and pepperoni replacing some of the cheese in the Triple Grilled Cheese, I went with the Pizza Bomb. With my $5 off, the Pizza Bomb came to about $4 plus tax, and Faith asked if I would like some dipping sauce to go. When I asked her how much it'd be, she said a couple of dollars, which would have been half of what I'd pay for the discounted Pizza Bomb. Since I didn't want 1/3 of my total cost to be a dipping sauce, I passed on a sauce, thinking that the marinara and pepperoni inside the Pizza Bomb would suffice. Faith did mention to me that they are made to order, so it would be about a 15-minute wait. I appreciated her mentioning that to me so I wouldn't be sitting there wondering why it would be taking so long when they already have a display case of baked pretzels that are ready for the taking. They have five small tables and chairs by the pickup counter facing the window, so I sat at one while I was waiting for my order. At the pickup counter, I noticed they had a bunch of copies of coupons for $1 off Oreo Bitz and $1 off Mozzarella Stickz. However, I noticed the fine print of the Mozzarella Stickz coupon indicating that it had expired in August of last year! Why give out expired coupons? To deceive the customer?! Even though the Oreo Bitz coupon wasn't past expiry, I didn't take one since the Oreo Bitz looked overly sweet to eat them all in one sitting. After a 20-minute wait, Faith handed me my takeout bag while mentioning to be careful since the Pizza Bomb was still hot. I grabbed a handful of napkins from the napkin dispenser on the pickup counter to prepare for the amount of grease I was expecting from the Pizza Bomb. I was hoping the Pizza Bomb would taste bomb, but it unfortunately bombed instead. The pretzel dough was overly thick so as to overpower the taste of the marinara and pepperoni. I would have tasted much more pizza had I gotten a Jalaroni Pretzel with some marinara dipping sauce instead! I kind of regretted not getting the Triple Grilled Cheese because I feel I would have liked that much better, even if it wouldn't exhibit a pizza-like taste. Their loaded bitz are also exclusive to the La Habra location, but they sounded pretty rich and heavy, like enough to call it a dinner. Overall, I'm glad I tried this standalone Wetzel's Pretzels location, but I don't think it's that much different than a mall location. I certainly didn't hate my experience here, but I definitely didn't love it either, so I think 3 stars is fair, even though I would have been pretty unhappy had I paid full price for that Pizza Bomb.

Quick!! I'll bet this is the first ever review you've read that starts w/ a contaminated food…read moreissue! Many years ago, when my three children were all knee-high to their gorgeous mother and in their full scale hellion, er, playful imp stage, the five of us had a LOUSY family dinner at BJs Brewhouse, Eastland Center. They'd dispensed expired apple sauce to my five yr old Bradley and the chocolate milk my nine yr old ordered was more a chunky, gloppy (lapsed) yogurt than children's dairy beverage! It was enough for me to vow I'd never return... Well, in the SECOND greatest comeback since Princess Leia liberated Han Solo from his carbonite slab, BJs Restaurant & Smokehouse has officially earned its way back into the good graces of your favorite Yelp correspondent. The sextet of us met at BJs Brea to belatedly hail Yours Truly for Father's Day- My oldest son had been outtve town on business and I wanted to defer the dinner 'til all three of my BMWs were present. To set the scene, our group was comprised of my effortlessly beautiful wife, my ethereal daughter and her BF, both of my sons and myself. For starters, I was pleasantly shocked at how nice the Brea BJs is decorated- Columns of antiqued brick rise to meet ornately sculpted crown moldings contrasted against weathered copper tin-inlaid ceiling tiles. This is not the BJs presented in their national TV ads- Which project more "Applebee's" than, say, the Cheesecake Factory. Relevant only because the Brea BJs abuts a Cheesecake Factory and -never thought I'd say this- actually can match TCF in decorative appeal and ambiance. We ordered a veritable Army's worth of food: -Appy of Mozzarella Sticks; -Cheeseburger + Fries for Elijah; -Smashburger for my youngest, Brad, aka the 5-yr old in my opening anecdote; -Hot wings for my older son Brandon, aka the 9-yr old; -Poke Salad for my daughter Brianna; -Chicken Caesar Salad for my bride and undusputed Matriach of our loving Family; -I came thisclose to ordering their epic looking Wagyu Burger then wizened up and, befitting the occasion, tabbed a Rib Eye, prepared medium rare, with Honey Sriracha Brussel Sprouts and Roasted Asparagus; For dessert we shared a full size S'mores Pizookie plus a trio of individual pizookies (Strawberry shortcake, cookies & cream & chocolate chunk), all crowned with ice cold vanilla ice cream. My family left a trail of emptied plates, testament to the finger-licking prowess of the food BJs served us. Our server was a delightful Tunisian gentleman who clinched our celebratory dinner. I should've recorded his name -but, I also forgot to snap any photos. I was enchanted in the moment w/ my beautiful, loving and supportive Family and so if my review is lacking anything, blame me...the knuck who was busily demolishing his impeccably seasoned rib eye and roasted veg! Don't hesitate to consider BJs Restaurant and Brewhouse for your family's next special occasion! We'd selected this particular BJs for its geographically sensible locale for our group plus we knew they'd have a plethora of TVs tuned into the World Cup. So even though Belgium dispatched the USMNT, 4-1, we still emerged triumphant because of our hugely satisfying meal. Bravo, BJs!

They have a huge location with a large parking lot, however note that this does fill up. Especially during weekends, big games, etc. We came on a Sunday during a game AND movie night, but were able to secure a place to park with some patience. Again, the place is huge. They had two bars open AND a booth outside selling canned drinks. There is lots of seating inside and outside. It was honestly hard for me to wrap my head around the size of the place! I also liked that they had multiple restrooms around the building. They have a very impressive beer and seltzer collection. You can get various sizes or a whole pitcher for the table. You do order food outside separately at the X Eats area. This is a food truck setup, but they did have an impressive amount of options. Food took a little while (understandable given the volume of people there), but it came out hot and fresh. The pizza had a nice flavor that featured jalapeño and pineapple. They also had a featured dessert that was a banana egg roll with ice cream and a wonderful ube syrup. Overall, I had a great time and would love to come back again!

I will say the black skinny security guard was the only one that was respectful and spoke to us about what was going on.
