Oh man... this is the worst location yet. I felt uneasy walking in, queasy as I stood there, and embarrassed as the crew looked over at the guests with disdain. Myself and the other customers stood uneasily with not a head nod of acknowledgment from the crew. I could see our online order sitting on the pick up shelves when I walked in, but the actual handing out of the food required a 20 minute waiting period. There were no other customers in the restaurant, but it was clear there were more pressing conversations to have. The environment was unsettling, the energy sinister. Dare I say it but the McDonald's down the street has better prices, better service, and compared to this location, better burgers. Has Shake Shack franchised? Is this Shack underpaying their employees? Oh how the mighty have fallen. For any OC locals, this location has done you a great disservice. I mourn for this once great brand. 4 1/2 stars. It's been a long time since I dined at Shake Shack. So I was looking forward to eating here since it's fairly nearby home. Parking is convenient since it's located at a large strip center with many food options. I downloaded the phone app and it's easy to navigate and they discount prices on fries, shakes and sodas. As for the burgers and chicken sammies, I'm a fan since they use Angus beef, potato buns and the quality of ingredients are superior compared to their competitor's. The service here is outstanding. The friendly employees follow up, offer to refill your drinks and even offer to take your trash - whether I'm dining inside or on the large community patio. I discovered that Shake Shack is opening everywhere in So. Ca so I'll definitely be returning to another Shake Shack. read more

Me and my pickleball buddy decides to grab lunch at shake shack of Brea to try their k-shack bbq burger. The burger joint is pretty good size, super clean, and modern. They do have restrooms, no drive thru. They shared the huge parking with all other shops at The plaza. Service is very friendly! They made suggestions of using shake shack app to get deals like $1 soft drink. They do not put soft drink fountain outside, but they come around to ask if you need refill or you can go to counter to request refills. We order two k-shack bbq burger. The tastes of ingredients are great, fresh. The k-shack bbq sauce in the burger is way too salty - it's like you add soy sauce to sesame bbq sauce. Kind of weird. (A made-to-order quarter-pound* per patty of 100% Angus beef topped with American cheese, crispy sweet onions, fresh scallions, and a savory Korean BBQ sauce on a toasted potato bun. (Contains: Milk, Egg, Wheat, Soy, ) I rate this a 3 star because of the taste is so strange. Ordered the shake burger hot cheesy fries the bbq burger with hot fires a grilled chess with regular fries. Ordered a strawberry lemonade root beer and campfire something shake. Total came out to $73. About $20 more than expected. Food was prepared quickly and delivered to us. Restaurant is clean and organized. Very disappointed in the grilled cheese. It super small. Nothing like what is shown on the digital menu. Now understand food generally does not look like what an advertisement is but this was terrible. The burgers look colder to representation. They were small but a better presentation. The taste of the burger was ok. Nothing to rave about. I will state the patties were cooked well and had good flavor on their own. The hot fries tasted like fries with powered on them. No real kick. The cheesy hot fries a little better. You get a good portion of fries. My thoughts come for the shakes. The service was great - the lady who took my order was approachable and welcoming. The ambiance was busy but not chaotic for a Saturday. About 10 years ago I had it for the first time in Chicago and was underwhelmed, but I periodically check in and find that food quality is high and that often I am just ordering the wrong food for my mood. Service is always prompt and polite, tables are clean, and ordering is pretty simple. On this occasion I was here to get a Chicken Shack. It was solid 4-stars, a good balance of healthy and crunchy (not too much fried breading). I do think it needs slightly more sauce than just the herb mayo and ketchup was an easy addition. I could see a bbq going well too. I did hold the pickles, but I don't think that alone would elevate to a 5-star sandwich. The hot dog is simple, add some ketchup and then any kid is happy, a consistent option. The Parmesan Garlic Fries were something that sounds delicious in theory but I found too salty from the roasted garlic Parmesan aioli dipping sauce. Garlic in the fries, easy to do and makes it smell nice. Could grated Parmesan be added on top? I would think so. But the sauce was too salty, so I instead opted for dipping in ketchup and that worked fine. Next time I'll just skip the sauce and ask for extra garlic (if possible). read more

I parked near the bank and luckily a car was leaving. Be careful walking through the parking lot. There's no crosswalk and so you're in the drive aisle until you reach the sidewalk. I walked inside the store. They posted a sign on the entrance door warning one of the doors was broken (no door handle). I used the men's room before picking up my order. It was a clean facility. I walked back to the order counter and the female employee helped me. The order was ready and bagged. Only okay, not perfect. Why bother checking the box on the app for napkins and utensils? Or asking for sauce on the side? These minor items matter and were missed. Not a huge issue as I was asked at the counter if I wanted ketchup and napkins... I mean--on one hand it's Shake Shack. We've all been there by now. But, on the other, this is the closest one I've ever had to where I live. This isn't one that just happens to be where I'm going to be for the day or one that happens to be where I'm vacationing. This is one that is like 10-15 minutes from me. And, no, it's not In-N-Out or Nice Guys, but I like the food here--even if it's vastly over-priced and only above-average food. That's still better than a lot of sub-average burger joints and it's not like I'll be eating here in a regular rotation. I just like the option and I think their shakes are still the best thing about them. Their shakes kill. They'd be my number one fast food shake place if they just had an everyday coffee shake on the menu. This one seems to have a huge dining room and patios, which I like. A lot of Shacks have the dining space of a pantry and it really makes me hate dining in at them, which is 90% of how I eat all dinners. All in all, I'd give them a 7 out of 10, mostly from convenience and room to dine in at as I'd give more Shake Shacks a 5 out of 10. I asked the front register about the black truffle burger's last day on the menu and three people helped out to answer my question, so that was nice! LOCATION - Between Starbucks, Cava and Nékter Juice Bar. It's a prime location! So many people coming through the doors! Stores around it - Katsu Bar, Tous Les Jours, Panda Express, Home Goods, World Market, Ralphs, Wells Fargo, Baskin Robbins, Bread Breakers Deli House, Maui Hawaiian BBQ. So there's lots of places to visit at the Brea Gateway Center. PARKING Parking lot is large, yet it's still not large enough to find a parking spot when you get there. I tried the newly released BBQ burger. Even though there weren't many customers, it took 25 minutes--much longer than usual. It featured an artificial-tasting BBQ sauce with a spicy kick, and I found it to be a bit too salty. It seemed like they put way too much sauce on it relative to the size of the chicken (to the point that the burger was soggy and dripping with it). The chicken patty was small, with coleslaw added, but it was not nearly enough to balance out the sauce's flavor. Whether the blame goes on the person who designed the BBQ sauce or the person who assembled the burger, I'm not sure, but for a $15 burger, it's...something. read more
