There is a dead-eyed blonde female cashier who stands off to the side of the cash register drinking from her Stanley cup, tapping her nails, not wanting to be bothered. No eye contact, no greeting and doesn't even say the total $ amount owed. She mindlessly, sloppily dumps the groceries in the bag. The first time I went, she shoved everything into 1 overstuffed bag, so I asked for an extra bag on the side. If I hadn't gotten another bag, it would have ripped. I had to redo everything in the car and noticed the smashed produce and bread in the middle and bottom of the bag. She put all of the other heavier items on top of them including cartons of milk and eggs. This employee has been there the last 3 times I've gone. So I filled out the contact form on the website about the terrible customer service and NEVER received a response. In addition to the awful customer service (only from this 1 employee), several times the produce I bought ended up rotting way too quickly. Their healthcare section just got downsized a lot too. This location has gone downhill! I hadn't been to Sprouts in Brea for a long time, and went there instead this past weekend - more selection, better prices and MUCH better customer service!! read more

I came to see what kind of products were offered for this organic market. I got the Lesser Evil popcorn, fresh lemonade, kombucha, bar soap, and herbal coffee. I felt like this store is overpriced for a lot of the items. I paid almost $5 for a bar of soap in the clearance section marketed 30% off and $4 for fresh lemonade plus an additional $2 fee for the bottle. I asked what the charge was for and they said we can bring it back to get the $2. I would have liked the $2 fee to be posted instead of finding out on my receipt. The store is clean. read more

Had never been into a mother's market before and it was my first time. We had been in the area and my wife wanted to check it out. Very similar to a Whole Foods/erewhon. They had a lot of things I wasn't used to seeing, more organic and healthy options in stuff. The lady cashiers were nice and friendly, but we also didn't know/ weren't told. There is a $2 glass charge. They charge if you get something they make in a glass bottle. But if you bring it back you'll get like a $2 credit. That kind of threw us off because we don't live close by. Probably something the store should post, turned my $3 strawberry lemonade into a $6 lemonade. Place was bright and clean and had a smoothie bar area. It's typically more pricy than most of the grocery stores I normally visit but it was something new to check out for me. Walked into Mother's for the first time to find a super clean organized market. Employees were friendly, and I was actually there just to check out their fresh kitchen. Picked up a delicious ready to go breakfast burrito with cheese, egg, bacon, and potatoes. Super tasty... I mean I was actually impressed. The also gave me a creamy green avocado salsa which made it even better. Prices overall at this market can be pretty steep but the good customer service seems please. read more

I ordered a penne pasta and it was not good I was very surprised, I could have done better at home, the pasta was nothing special and the marinara was very plain and seemed out of the can and all for about $12.00? If it was tasty or exceptionally healthy I can justify it, but it was neither. To me it seemed like regular store bought pasta not healthy or organic, and same with the marinara, so very sad. I definitely will not be ordering here again, I'll do some grocery shopping for niche items I'm looking for but that might be it, as Sprouts and whole foods are right down the street. Mother's located in the Brea Plaza (off 57 FWY) is my go-to spot for a quick bite after work when I'm feeling tired and lazy. There parking lot is shared with other surrounding establishments, but plentiful, even during weekends. My only complaint is at night if park away from building the area is not well lite. The is literally no crowd coming on Mondays after 6PM. Depending on peak seasons, the front usually has a huge display case stockings of flowers, apples, watermelons, pumpkins or wreaths. Upon entering the store, the beverage cooler immediately greets you, and I like to check sales to use this opportunity to try new drinks. Then, I beeline to the Grab-n-Go sections prepared meals or boxed sides that complements the rotisserie chicken. I tend to grab hummus or my quesadillas for my "girl dinner"!! The cashiers are always friendly and efficient in checking you out. TIP: On Mondays, it is not uncommon to find 30% marked off on prepared boxed salads or sandwiches that wasn't able to sell over the weekend. read more

They weren't busy, but the staff member saw me with my kids standing wanting to be seated, didn't say hi, literally walked to the register past me, then back to the kitchen...um ooookay? Waited for 15 min, then some elderly guy proceeded to walk past me and sit down. He got served, I tried to flag down the staff member was ignored, so I sat at table with my kids. Again some other guys came in sat down, they were served, um ooookay? After waiting another 10 mins, I went up to the kitchen, and waited for the staff member to ask about ordering our food, and she rolled her eyes and rudely cut me off saying she'll be there. TL;DR: Great produce, but always double-check your receipt before paying. I came in to buy some fruit and vegetables -- 2 napa cabbages, 3 large avocados, apples, and berries. The quality of the produce here is usually excellent, which is why I shop at this store. However, the checkout experience was very disappointing. If it weren't for my mom carefully reviewing the receipt, I would have missed the billing errors. The cashier had added 6 romaine lettuces to the bill and then randomly refunded 1 (which made no sense), and also charged us for 4 avocados instead of the 3 we purchased. When I questioned it, the cashier insisted he had already corrected the mistake, when he had not. He then signaled for his manager in a dismissive way and never once apologized. Even the manager was surprised when he looked at the receipt and admitted he couldn't believe the mistake either. This was both frustrating and embarrassing for the store. Whether this was due to lack of training or something more intentional, the cashier's behavior was unacceptable. At the very least, better training is needed -- and if it was deliberate, it should be taken much more seriously. read more

Wanted to make the healthier choice by grabbing something to eat here. Went for the pre-made sushi since it should be quick, no soy sauce or chopsticks, strike 1. Ok, let's go pay for it, line was long, only 1 cashier, she called for help twice on the intercom. No one showed up, God bless her soul, she hunkered down and kept ringing along until the line shrank. This whole time I see other employees walking around the store, but I guess they can't cashier, and no manager to help either. " No enthusiasm or smiles. One young lady working the juice bar was loudly complaining to another employee about a tip that a customer wrote on a receipt "none" for a tip. The young lady stated she was entitled to a tip. I saw a bunch of new kombucha flavors and was happy to see some on sale. I love the design, but the flavor was a bit lacking. The consistency is very smooth, however. Maybe because it's organic, but this is the first kombucha that isn't as fizzy/carbonated. After getting waxed nearby, I wanted to grab some groceries and food. I searched for vegan foods and Mother's Market popped up. I walked in without having a clue what this place is about. They have freshly made meals you can grab and go. Vegetarian and vegan friendly. There's also tons of organic fruits and veggies. This place is a total win for plant-based people and non plant-based too. I got the liver cleanse from the cafe area and wow did that clean me out lol sorry for the too much information. I specifically went over to hang out in the café area. Incredibly surprised to discover they closed at three! That's like in the middle of the afternoon. Sigh. Unfortunately, I chose a seat closest to the door and it was freezing yesterday so every time the door opened I got a chill. That's not on them, mother nature is just simply out of control, lol. I ordered the Açaí bowl with juice. However, I was surprised when they delivered it to me in a quart container, as if I were purchasing it from the cooling area of the store. Nonetheless, it was delicious and I ate every bite! I would've preferred to have a normal size spoon versus a ginormous spoon but again that's my personal preference. Would I recommend this place to go and hang out for the afternoon? Probably not. The tables are quite far apart and it just doesn't feel like a warm and cozy place. I came here for breakfast and some shopping on a weekday and it was a pleasant overall experience. There is a juice bar and cafe near the front of the store and for the cafe you seat yourself and a server will come to you. The servers were very friendly and attentive and food came out at a decent time. There was quite a lot of seating for a grocery story, both inside and outside. They have so many food options! I ordered the special for the month, the poached egg toast, which came with seasoned potatoes and a coffee/tea. Food was okay. I totally thought it was supposed to be some sort of avocado toast but it was just an egg, arugula, some diced tomatoes, and a drizzle of olive oil. I was pretty shocked when I received it but it was my bad for not reading the description correctly. I just saw a deal and jumped on it! You get a good potion of food for $5.99 in comparison to their other menu items which are $10 and up. One of the servers got me some salsa and it made the toast way better, less bland. The store itself is well stocked and not too large of a grocery to look through. They do have a more different selection of brands than sprouts in regards to gluten free options and beauty products! I ended up getting a natural perfume from a new brand I had never heard about called Maui Excellent. It was pretty expensive but that's how natural, clean products usually are. I also got some organic pineapple juice that they were selling 2 for $12 so that you saved $2. Finally, I went to the juice bar to get a protein smoothie because that breakfast was not enough. I ordered the custom workout smoothie with almond milk and hemp protein. I don't really know what I was doing but it did taste pretty healthy (very seedy/nutty and not very sweet). It was okay, but I'd try something else next time! Anyways, I had an overall good experience here. Staff was friendly, store was clean, food was alright.
