(They were together for thirteen years, so as parents we became quite good friends.) Auntie Pasto's was a favorite of my daughters growing up. Initially went on autopilot to the original location. Pivoted to come to their new location on Bellaire. In the mood for eggplant Parmesan. Theirs is less breaded, so it is a bit lighter. Served with spaghetti with marina sauce and grilled veggies, it is a very hearty Italian meal. I forgot how generous their portions have been. Took half home for the lunch the next day. Added a salad for $2.95. Love their vinaigrette dressing which I get on the side. Nice place for a get together with our Girl Scout parent supper club. Went last Friday with a small group of 4. Great for smaller groups of 4-6 or date nights with the booths! We ordered a house salad with three pasta dishes to share among 4 people, and an additional sin pie for dessert. Staff took a bit of time to get to us, but was very quick and attentive. Recommend a salad to start, the bread is so soft! Pasta we ordered was rich and decadent! In ranking -crawfish ravioli - 4 to 5 pieces were great for one person, and the sauce was not overwhelming. Complemented the ravioli very well. -black pepper fettuccini with shrimp - their flagship special, a very well done dish, but also very creamy -fettuccini with jalapeño and shrimp - we want to try another fettuccine dish, but admit this was too much for our plate. We couldn't really taste the jalapeño or other vegetables in ordering the black pepper fettuccine outshone this dish. Popped into Auntie Pasto's for dinner the other night. We tried the crawfish ravioli, crab cakes, basil, garlic and tomatoes pasta and ended with the jack Daniel's mousse cake. For starters, the bread and the fresh herbs and olive oil was probably the best part of the meal. You can tell that they use quality oil and herbs for this, which really sets it apart from other restaurants. I was unimpressed by the basal, garlic and tomatoes pasta as it was quite watery and not very flavorful. The crawfish ravioli was a much better entree as the sauce was flavorful and thick and made nicely. The crab cakes that we ordered for appetizers were a nice touch. We've been getting the mousse cake for years and again, it did not disappoint. The service was okay. We felt pretty rushed by our waiter throughout the meal. It also sounded like the kitchen was behind on this night so definitely have some understanding there. But overall, a great family environment! Will be back! read more

After taking my brother to a post-surgery doctor appointment, he suggested treating me to lunch at Auntie Pasto's. (What a guy!) With a name that sticks in your brain, (good work marketing department!), I had heard of it but never been. We were warmly greeted and seated at a convenient four top. Iced tea ordered, we were quickly provided with bread and oil dipping sauce. The dipping sauce was seriously garlicky. That's a feature, not a flaw. The bread was soft with a chewy crust. I inquired if that is the same bread they use for their sandwiches. With a nod of the head my order was decided. My brother ordered the lunch portion of the Lasagna Roll that comes with a fairly good sized salad. My best guess is the roll is a lasagna noodle rolled up with cheese and meat sauce, topped with more cheese and sauce and run under a salamander. I think that's genius and I might not ever make a traditional lasagna again. Back to the bread, I ordered a Meatball Sandwich with a Caesar Salad. The sub was very good. About six inches of soft bread filled with halved meatballs, thin slices of red onion and tomato sauce and topped with a few shreds of grated parm. I would have liked one more meatball and a little melted mozz on top, but that's just me. I would definitely order it again. The Caesar was again a good portion, very fresh and well made. All in all a good meal. Oh, service was great also. The busser was quick to replenish my tea glass - a full time job on its own. So. If you sat through this novella to the end, you get a bonus review. On entering the parking lot I realized Auntie's is located next to the renowned Blood Bros. BBQ, another place I had read about but never visited. So while my brother paid the check, I hied it over to Blood Bros for a take-away. I have to say that immediately upon entering the door I felt a "vibe". I'm old. I'm long past "vibes". But there was...something in the air. Besides the smell. Which was incredible. It was something else... Something special. I only got a taste for later. Two slices of brisket and half of a chicken. Even later, both were fantastic. I'll definitely be back but next time I'll eat at Blood Bros and pick up a nosh from Aunties. Let's eat! read more

The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, and the whole ambiance is peaceful and calm -- a nice break from the usual lunch rush. I hadn't been there in a while but was working nearby. I ordered a spaghetti with marinara from the lunch special. You are served fresh bread with an olive oil dip. The pasta comes with either a Caesar or a garden salad. While I ordered the Caesar, they brought the other one by mistake. The waiter offered to correct it but I let it go. The pasta with marinara is OK. I've had better marinara sauces at other restaurants. The lettuce from the salad looked old. See my photo. I told the waiter to tell the chef. While I might not return for food, I've been wanting to try the To Die For Cake. So I'll pick up a slice to go another day. read more

Small business in shopping center- quiet area with great friendly service. Saturday evening and we were seated right away- got busier as we sat. Complimentary bread and oil was warm, toasty and tasty- never ending too! The crab cake was a bit lacking- not much flavor in the crab cake and the sauce it's in was salty and made the bottom of cake soggy. The fettuccine with shrimp was good- definitely tasted the fresh pepper, shrimp were cooked well and large! If you love saucy pastas this was the one! We came here on a weekend and they were fully busy. Despite that they were able to seat us in a booth that had just been vacated. Quick and efficient service. We ordered a Caesar salad (side) with our entrees and they were delicious. For my entree I got the chicken marsala. It was so good! Reminded me of the kind of food I used to get from one of my favorite neighborhood spots when I used to go out with my family growing up! For dessert we got the "to die for" which was layers of lady fingers with various berries and cream throughout. While I wouldn't say that this dessert was necessarily to die for, my dining partner absolutely devoured it. Next time I will be trying the tiramisu. The cappuccino was a little too bitter for me but that's probably because the dessert was too sweet. I would love to go back and try other dishes. read more

This is a great place if you are looking for a casual Italian restaurant with good food. The skillet mushrooms are my favorite item on the menu! I am a vegetarian and I appreciate the number of options this place has. I am also gluten free so having the option to substitute gluten free penne is wonderful. I do wish they had gluten free spaghetti as well. I love the black bean pasta. It's so flavorful and not like any other pasta I have had. I get it without chicken and cilantro. I recently ordered to go from Auntie Pasto's for the first time and was pleased with everything. We got the Parmesan fries, fried mozzarella, shrimp fettuccine w/ added blackened chicken and the crawfish ravioli. Every single thing was amazing. It was all served hot and seasoned beautifully. It traveled well to the house. Definitely a new favorite restaurant for me. Before I go, I have to compliment the bartender/to go server. I can't remember her name, unfortunately. She is a blonde lady with a very vibrant personality and a great work ethic. I probably shouldn't post this at all, but I am compelled for Auntie Pasto's to "clean up their act." I was meeting my cousin for dinner and as I sat down and ordered my cocktail, I saw a mouse hopping straight down the middle of the dining room. I hadn't seen my cousin in 2 years and we needed to catch up on family stuff so we stayed, had some cocktails and got caught up. Both of us are lovers of all creatures, but this was off the charts in a restaurant we once frequented. The waiter said, "oh yeah, we have a problem" and "no restaurant is perfect." Huh? I shall give Auntie Pasto's a miss in the future. Bill paid in full. We could have cleared the restaurant in 60 seconds had we let the other patrons know. No one did anything. Food - mediocre at best. Steak and Peppers on their menu - avoid it. Primavera Pasta, eh. Most of their pasta dishes are made with Sysco pasta sauce - or worse, from a can. Watery and pretty tasteless. I can't imagine a restaurant next to Blood Brothers BBQ staying in business serving mediocre Italian dishes. Service was stellar. Our server was very patient because my niece has a 3 year old cranky and sleepy kid. Bless his kind soul. I just wish their food was better. Ambiance was ok. Very quiet on a Monday evening. I came in with my African-American girlfriend and our children to come and eat at this establishment first we waited forever to get sat once we got sad. We were sad rudely by the waiter didn't know his name, older gentleman baldheaded seems to be very, very agitated to be at work. We tried our best to be friendly. He was very unfriendly after we got our meal. We realize that the food the steak wasn't cooked well at all it was actually extremely red. We weren't asked how what kind of temperature we wanted our food so obviously when it came out Red, we complained. I waited to the very end right before paying. I normally don't complain because being Hispanic and coming in with an African-American were automatically categorized as we're trying to run out or get some or get something free, which in this wasn't the case at all, I paid for the entire meal a busser as she was collecting it noticed that we did not touch the plate and asked why did we not touch it? I explained to her that the meal was not cooked, right she went then went and got the waiter to show him after she showed the weight of the way to Said what would you like me to do? It's already too late. You guys already paid for the meal he wasn't accommodating at all. I did ask well. Is it too late? Is there anything that can be done? He just walked completely away. went right to the bar and sat down the busser stated and looked at him and said hey these guys should not have to pay for this meal since they didn't touch it and the meal was not cooked he shrug his shoulders and sat right at the table and did nothing about it. I decided to painful still left the $10 tip because we're just not petty like that but I can definitely say that I would never ever ever return to this establishment nor do I recommend anyone come because if this is the way you're gonna be treated where your food is not gonna be cooked and you're gonna be treated with disrespect and rudeness then I do not recommend this place at all read more

My biggest complaint was the service. Our waiter was awful. Water never refilled. Never checked on us. Had to flag down other waiters to get a box for our leftovers and another to tell our waiter to bring us the bill. It doesn't feel good to feel invisible in a restaurant, but I did. The food was't bad, but the clam chowder was an extremely small portion for the price, and when I asked for a different sauce in the pasta that came with my dish, there was a $3 upcharge, but the waiter didn't tell me there would be. There are so many other Italian restaurants near me, I can't see any reason to comeback here. read more

Service was AWFUL here this evening. My family and I waited to be seated upon arrival and once we were, not one waiter came to our table. It wasn't until I flagged down the manager was when he called the waiter who had been serving tables immediately near us. That in itself took 15 minutes for someone to even get our drink orders. The food we ordered was alright, but due to the frequent drink refill and bread refill requests, that knocked their rating down even further. Not once did our waiter take any initiative and provide the items hisself. Another family who sat near us had the same experience with their waitress and you could tell they were also peeved.
