The flavoring of the veggies was decent but again, this cut of veggies seemed like it was for a pasta primavera and just used for a sandwich. The cold pesto pasta salad given on the side was very sour and we did not like it. I don't love pasta salad so I wish they disclosed the sides otherwise I would not have ordered. The pictures on yelp does not really serve justice. Not only is the cuisine very delicious, but the portions compliment the menu pricing. I was taken back with the freshness of the shrimp, and flavor. I am definitely returning. Hint: 7% percent charge for to go orders plus taxes. Just in case you decide to place an order to go, know that before hand. Second time dealing with this restaurant for a take out order. Last time we had a bright colored hair in our pasta and it was a busy weekend night and not only did they doubt me and go through the hair makeup of their staff but the young fellow on the phone couldn't process a refund so said I had to come in with the receipt another day when the manager was there and only then could they give me a refund. This time (shame on me for trying them again but they're a neighborhood joint) we ordered several pastas and a "POMODORO FRESCO E BASILICO SALAD" off of the takeout order link from their website. Guy says he's not even sure what the salad is and what we get instead is a pile of croutons, tomatoes, olives, purple onions, and grated parm. Not a green thing in sight. Good Italian restaurant catered to families in the Meyerland area. The portions aren't big but neither are the prices. Their food keeps well for delivery. Surprisingly, the eggplant parmesan cuts were still crispy after 20 minutes. The trick was that they didn't try to drown the cuts with marinara sauce and the bright and tart sauce would have been too much if they had done so. Instead, it blended perfectly with the cheese and angel hair pasta. With the manicotti, there is more of the marinara so it was a bright contrast to the cheese and pasta. If you're not a big eater, the portion is not heavy. read more

I love this restaurant and I've eaten at plenty Italian restaurants. Their pizza is awesome. My favorite is their stuffed artichoke. Their complimentary bread is delicious. Soups, entrees, salads and their desserts are excellent. I always order a seafood pasta dish but my family orders other entrees. The best breadsticks ever served. Service and food were excellent. They revised their menu from last time we were there and seemed like they posted less specials than last time. I've been ordering from this place since 2018, but when they screwed up my grubhub order, I had to go to the restaurant to exchange my order for the correct one. The owner promised a full-refund, but did not follow through. When I called to ask about it, he went on and on about how long they'd been in business, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I countered with the fact that I'd been a loyal customer for over 5 years. Still no refund until I contacted grubhub and requested one. Used to love this place (see previous 5-star review), but starting to run out of patience with them. Since covid, I have been trying to continue supporting our local restaurants via to-go orders. I recently looked at the menu online and ordered some of our favorites: Penne Mona Lisa, roasted chicken lasagna with cream sauce, etc. I figured up the total and it was supposed to be $63.00 + tax, but the woman on the phone indicated my total was $81.54. Wait, what!? When I pick up the order, I look at my itemized receipt and see that *every single thing* we ordered has evidently gone up in cost--some entrees are $3.00 more. Okay, fine... they should absolutely update their online menu/website, but we'll let it slide. Perhaps they had to go up to remain in business, but this still shouldn't be more than $80.00. Well, it turns out they now add a 5% packaging fee to your order. Never mind that this isn't just a flat fee, but a percentage of your subtotal. Again, if this is a covid measure, part of me understands, but this should be a flat fee (you're punishing people for ordering more?) and you should be transparent about these added costs up front. All in all, the food was pretty good, as usual, and the portions are solid--though certainly not big enough to offset the rising costs. I will say that you pay $8.00 to add blackened shrimp to a salad and get 6 shrimp so that's more than $1.00 a shrimp... pretty ridiculous. It's one thing to implement new measures to offset the effects of covid, but at least be upfront and transparent about these changes. Nobody likes a surprise. I told my wife when I got back with the food that we were going to be trying some other Italian places in the near term. read more

I really wanted to attribute the experiences to a fluke, but three lousy experiences is more than a fluke. Most recent experience: Rude, unresponsive, inexperienced waitstaff. Not ONCE did the server come by and ask how everything was. Refills on drinks were difficult. No straws. The food took forever to arrive. I tried to be understanding because there was 9 of us, but I had the same experience when there were only 4 of us at our last visit. Never mentioned desserts. I asked for the mousse cake and he said he had none. Didn't offer anything else. I will never return. One bad experience is a fluke....3 bad experiences is a pattern. One star. We're starting to eat closer to home and that means a visit to restaurants near Meyerland Plaza. Gugliani's looked appealing and we came in on a Thursday night. The restaurant isn't small and it has a nice "home" feel to it with a painted mural on the wall and little checkered table cloths. The bread sticks served were warm and they gave us a plate of olive oil without herbs for dipping which was a little weird. They have an extensive menu of salad, pasta, specialties and pizza. We saw a lot of people eating pizza, but we decided to order pasta instead. My husband had the Mono Lisa pasta which is penne with a Mariana sauce and chicken. It tasted good and it was a large portion, but I got the feeling I could make a similar pasta at home for way cheaper. For $14, it was a bit pricey for the quality of food we got. I had the crab and shrimp ravioli which turned out to be more like crab and spinach ravioli. The sauce was a white sauce and a little sour. I didn't like it as much as the mono Lisa pasta and there were only 5 ravioli on the plate. For $20, I felt it wasn't really worth the price. It would have been nice if the waiter came by and offered us fresh grated cheese or pepper like I've seen other Italian restaurants do. Gugliani's should either up the quality of their food to match their prices or lower their prices and go for a more homestyle feel. Right now it seems like they can't decide what they want to be - an upscale Italian restaurant or more homecooking type. For the money we paid, I would prefer other restaurants where I could get better food and ambiance. read more
