I'm not often wowed by Italian food in restaurants but North Italia is amazing! I find that a lot of restaurants don't put enough seasoning. Here everything was hot and fresh and flavorful. First off, get the Zucca chips. I could literally eat a whole basketful. I need to figure out what slicer and oil they use because I can never get mine this thin and crispy. We then Arugula and Avocado salad, which was light and refreshing. Then onto the Cacio e Pepe Arancini. Cacio e Pepe is my favorite pasta, so I was a little disappointed they don't have it on the menu as a dish itself, but the arancini was delicious! For mains, my husband had the salmon. We ordered it medium and it came more well done, however, it was perfectly crispy on the outside and still moist in the center. Very tasty. I had the ricotta cavatelli, which might be the best pasta I've ever had. The shrimp were so plump and fresh. There was plenty of crab throughout. And the flavor had the perfect amount of salt and spice. My husband, who isn't a pasta person loved it too. It's a nice open space and service was friendly. Stopped by for the first time and I thought it was okay. With the open concept, it's pretty loud. Parking on the weekday wasn't horrible but I could see it being difficult during busier times. As for what I had: Zucca chips: 3/5 what I received was much different from everyone else's pictures. My chips were much smaller and mostly pieces of chips. Maybe I got the bottom of the batch? The flavor was good, but because they were small and folded in on themselves, they held a lot of the oil. The oil did taste fresh though. Eggplant parm (small plate): 3/5 most cheese and very little eggplant. The flavor was good. My waitress told me it came with noodles but then no noodles came out. Perfect for shareables and to eat family style (I had a table of 6, and we shared everything). Might be one of my favorite calamaris yet. The chicken parm was pretty good as well, definitely on the top end. Tiramisu was also excellent, they did a nice job at giving it flavor and not just drowning it out with sweetness or cream. I think it was a little pricey (not too crazy) but everything is made in the kitchen as you can see through the glass and was very well done, I think you get at least what you pay for here. I called to ask for a credit back to my card and they said they would. The bread with truffle butter was great, the beef carpaccio was good but a little heavy handed on the dijon. The eggplant parm was enjoyed by those who had it. The calamari portion was good and the pickled veggies that came with it were excellent. You can order a 1/2 portion of their pastas but beware - you may save $6 bucks but you will be hungry. The pizza was good and I thought the bolognese was ok. Not sure what all the fuss is about. North Italia is by far my favorite Italian restaurant in Houston! It's a very elegant and chic spot to grab a weekend brunch or a nice dinner with family and friends. The service is timely, but I recommend making a reservation because the wait times can be up to an hour. The Strozzapreti is usually my go-to, but I wanted to try something new on my most recent visit and ordered the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka pasta, and I wasn't disappointed! I don't have a high spice tolerance, but the spice was perfect in my opinion. Big plus, they make their pasta in house! I visited North Italia for Sunday brunch after Halloween and what a beautiful restaurant I liked the open concept and the fact that they were a scratch kitchen meaning everything is made from scratch from sauce to pasta to dessert. Our waitresses was very nice and attentive as well as very good at recommending foods for first timers like myself. I ordered the TUSCAN HASH with braised short rib. I did find it to be a little salty. The meal was delicious with the egg but once the egg ran out I found myself looking to help tone down the salt. Let me start by saying I like Italian food and I think North Italia is one of the best Italian restaurants in Houston. I put my money where my mouth is and we frequent this restaurant (particularly the Post Oak location) at least 6x per year, maybe more. Their food quality, ambiance, and service is consistently impressive. Their kitchen is viewable through glass windows so you can see all the cooking that's going on. Their pasta is freshly made from scratch, and my go-to entree that I order about 50% of the time is their House Speciality Bolognese. The only bolognese that I've tasted that comes close is homemade by my hot wife, but it's a ton of work so we just go to North Italia to get our bolognese fix. All (and I mean all) of their other options are quite good as well, so give them a try. We usually always get a pizza on the side as well and end up taking half of it home. Some tips: - Parking: there is a parking garage close by that is shared with The Original Ninfa's and other retailers. I usually have no problem finding a convenient spot, but I'm just pointing this out in case you're expecting free, surface lot parking. - Reservations: you may get lucky here and there and get a table quickly, but I make a reservation 99% of the time. It can get very full very quickly so save yourself the stress and potential wait by calling ahead. This place is great for a date, a family outing, or a business lunch or dinner. Enjoy! read more

I've been coming here for a while now, and the food and service have always been very good. Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to our past experiences. We came as a large party of 10 (including us three dads celebrating Father's Day) without a reservation. We understood that this might make things more challenging, and we appreciated that they were still able to seat us outside (near the parking lot). It was reasonably comfortable, and both the waitress and manager were courteous. However, we never received our food. After waiting about an hour, our waitress returned and informed us that they were out of several of the dishes we had ordered. This was frustrating, as it seemed the order had not even been processed until that point. We asked for menus again and requested to speak with the manager to see how the situation could be resolved. The manager was apologetic and courteous, brought us refills, and offered appetizers while we waited. We appreciated the effort, but many of the meals we had ordered included soup or salad, which we still hadn't received. By this point, we had already been waiting well over an hour.
