Charming old world ambiance. Service was prompt and friendly. Unfortunately it was too cool to enjoy their patio. My shrimp salad was excellent and my husband enjoyed his Spagetti. We were too full to order dessert, but those in the case looked good.

One of the best kept secrets for an authentic down home Italian restaurant in the Houston area! D'Amico's has been a mainstay of the Rice Village for 50 years and shows no signs of going anywhere. Longtime owner Nash D'Amico and now his daughter, Brina treat every customer like family. My wife and I moved away from the city so when we have a reason to come back we like to go to the places we liked the best when we were here. On this occasion it was the Italian Market Cafe and we were happy we came. D'Amico's has a concise wine list but it features some really nice Italian wines at very affordable prices. Our Chianti was excellent and paired well with our dinner. To star we ordered the longtime menu item, Crab Claws D'Amico which were meaty and so tasty. My wife had the flash fried calamari, crisp on the outside but soft inside. So many Italian places overcook this and it ends up rubbery. And here the oil is so fresh and clean tasting. Our appetizers didn't last long and soon our main course dishes arrived. My wife was in the mood for a wood fired pizza, she likes a simple topping of bell peppers and onion, it came just as she liked. I had a new dish, at least for me; grilled salmon with a topping made up of avocado, marinated onion and tomato in a white whine butter sauce with capers and a side of sauteed spinach. Wow, was I glad I got that, it was great. The Village has a lot to offer in the way of restaurants but don't miss out on a visit to Italy here at D'Amico's!

cibo delizioso e compagnia Accidentally find... again. Haven't been here since it relocated (10+ years) but glad we stumbled upon it. Team lunch on a cold, cloudy Friday. They were able to seat us quickly - table for 7 and the waitress was super friendly. They have a lunch menu so most of us ordered off of that I had the spaghetti with meatball with a Caesar salad on the side. I also ordered a small Margherita pizza (take home). Caesar salad (4/5) - I am not a salad person but I ate every piece of lettuce on that plate Spaghetti w/meatball (4/5) - nicely sauced, pasta al dente and the meatball was perfectly seasoned Margherita pizza (4/5) - crust and dough was great, really good pizza Overall, would def be back. There was a mushroom pasta I want to try along with a few other things. They have desserts but I was too full but my friend said the gelato was perfection

Another great dinner at D'Amico's. We split a chicken Parmesan and a caprese salad. We forgot to take a photo of the caprese but it was very good. Isaac, our waiter, was fantastic as usual too. We enjoyed dinner on the patio on a nice evening. Thanks again!

Found them on a Houston Restaurant Week listing. Glad we went in. Tasty freshly made Italian dishes in a traditional Italian market space. Sauces and dishes were well seasoned and reminded us of some our favorites places in NYC. Parking is crazy near there, just pull into the garage.

Our new favorite spot when we stay in the Museum District. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive. Kept our drinks refilled and made good suggestions for dinner. Atmosphere is traditional Italian decor, place is clean and very busy. Food was good old-fashioned homemade pasta and sauce. We both tried the Gnocchi with chicken and house salads. Why do some places try so hard to change things and make Italian food something it isn't? Not here, give it a try if you're looking for good food and service at a fair price.

Love this place! I ordered a pistachio chocolate cake for a birthday, and it was absolutely delicious. The decoration was beautiful, the store was lovely, and the staff were so friendly. Everything was reasonably priced. Definitely recommend!

My boyfriend and I came here for a Friday night causal dinner date. I had a frozen Bellini along with the crawfish ravioli, both were super yummy! I also ordered a slice of chocolate cake but was too full so I only had one bite and decided to save the rest. The service was great and the patio area is really cute. Would come back here again!

Originally we were going to eat at another establishment but en route we stumbled across this place and found it so charming we had to change our plans and give it a try. According to their signage this place has been serving Houston for 45 years. Im a sucker for checkered tablecloth. They got a nice Italian decor which makes you feel like you're in Italy I think. They have reasonably priced kids menu too. My kids Alfredo was satisfying and the fried calamari on point with the red dipping sauce having a nice flavor. For some reason these days I love banana or bread pudding and they had banana pudding gelato. It has a nice strong banana flavor with banana bits. The chocolate gelato was really nice too. Waitress was super helpful and nice.

I've returned. This time, accompanied by none other than my flawless lover. There is nothing more perfect than finishing an adventurous visit to the museum with a bowl of pasta, which is exactly what we did. We were greeted upon arrival, and seated at a nice booth where fresh bread was brought to us. Lover and I are big fans of the decor- specifically the bottles of olive oil placed on each table. I was apprehensive about ordering the Pappardelle Pesto due to my allergic tendencies to pine nuts- however my love for pesto outweighed the risks. My lover, with a taste for seafood, ordered the Crawfish Ravioli and was pleased to say the least. The portions are notable for being just the right amount- and need I forget to mention the Italian classics serenading us as we munched. Overall, we were highly satisfied with our meals at D'Amico's. 9.2/10

From start to finish , D 'Amicos Italian Market Cafe had us at Ciao. Lukash our server took care to get our drink and dinner items out quickly. I had the Taglierini homemade angel hair pasta with oven roasted Roma tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and fresh basil .It was served extra hot like I like it and had the perfect amount of spice without being over salty. The BREAD. Not sure if they make it in house but if they were closer to home I would come here every week and buy their bread. Perfectly toasted on outside and soft on inside .Heavenly! Wine: Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay. Full bodied wine with notes of Citrus, tropical fruits and hazelnuts. Creamy texture with a long mineral finish. Several servers waited on us and you can tell service was a big part of why they have been in business for over 45 years. We had dinner inside and they also offer outside seating . Return: Absolutely

This has been on my list for some time and made it for HRW 2024. Very mom and pop, causal feel with a pleasant, attentive staff. We were greeted with rolls for the table; it would be better warm, with some sauce, etc. I had a whiskey sour was really good, and they have a large wine selection, including half bottles. Got the meat plate as an app, and the presentation was lacking, and the portion was very large and unmanageable for one. The highlight was the salmon ravioli, and the tomato cream sauce was special. Again, presentation was lacking. I love Italian Cream Cake, but this one was the driest slice I've had in recent memory. The ravioli is worth a return, but there's work to be done.

Ask the Community - D'Amico's Italian Market Cafe

Is this just a restaurant or a store/meat market too?

Mainly a restaurant but they do sell a very limited amount of specialty items like canned tomatoes, pastas, wine etc. There are pics on their website. No meats that I know of.

    Do they have outdoor heaters?

No, we do not have outdoor heaters, only ceiling fans. The patio is covered in the event of very light rain, but is otherwise out of service in the event of heavy rain, extreme heat, bitter cold or strong winds.

Do they sell gift cards? I would love to get people to try it and this seems the best option?

Items we tried: Pane - delicious Roasted Carrot Pizza - AMAZING, A little spicy, but definitely something we would order again. Pastas we ordered initially came out cold - our incredible waiter immediately corrected the issue. But from a flavor profile - Pansotti - sooooo delicious. You'd never guess that it was a vegetarian option - the mushrooms were so meaty. The delicate pouches with the spinach and ricotta were heavenly. Pappardelle - The lamb braised sauce had a depth of flavor that could rival any restaurant in Italy. My only tiny hope was that the pasta would have been served aldente, it was a little overcooked. But to each his own. Overall - really great. Would recommend. This would be great for a weeknight dinner or an off the beaten path date night.

We chose patio seating, which was nice because the interior is quite dim -- although I now have 7 mosquito bites. I overall thought the food was good but nothing was stellar. We ordered the house salad and Capicola, which was a mistake because flavor-wise they were nearly identical, the main difference being that the Capicola had meat. Both salads were well done and had a nice balance of flavor and freshness. I really enjoyed the fish -- lightly salted, nutty, and crispy -- but I added the lemon it came with, which made it bitter. The rigatoni was creamy and cheesy. It was a solid pasta, nothing out of the ordinary but still enjoyable. Mimo is the type of place I would visit if I lived nearby.

Great deal! The experience was great, there were many waiters and waitresses stopping by the table to check in on us. The food was fresh, flavorful, and piping hot! The views are lovely and the ambiance is a combination of chill, chic, and relaxing. Very vibey and spacious place. The restrooms are really nice as well and they were clean and stocked. Aperitivo is definitely on my list of places to return to, especially for happy hour. It's worth it to check this place out!

We booked the outdoor seating and boy was it hot that day. Nonetheless, the restaurant did provide large umbrellas to shade our table, so that was nice. Main Dish: Creste De Gallo pasta, was good. My dish needed a bit more salt. Drinks: Special Sangria. This wasn't on their menu, but I asked the waitress if they served sangrias. Sure enough, they did! Although our waitress was extremely nice, the service could've been a bit better. It took about 25-30 minutes for my water. I had to remind the waitress again that I didn't receive a water. Overall, I enjoyed my time at Aperitivo. A few people at our table were not thrilled with their meal. However, I would give this place another shot and try something different on the menu..

We went before the theatre so arrived early so not crowded, but service was perfect. Building is old, but maintained well and very clean and comfortable. We ordered the tiramisu for dessert, and nowhere on the menu did it mention that it was served with a slice of kiwi hidden underneath the whipped cream. I'm allergic to kiwi, and because it was completely covered, I didn't realize it was there until after I had already taken a bite. I brought this to our server's attention, not because I was looking for a discount or anything free, but simply because I wanted the staff to be aware so this wouldn't happen to another customer with a food allergy. Instead, the first response I received was asking if I had read the menu, which I had. Unfortunately, the menu never mentioned kiwi being part of the dessert. What really bothered me was overhearing the conversation afterward. Our server spoke with another staff member a few booths away, and I heard comments along the lines of, "Well, he should've mentioned his allergy," and "He should've asked." It felt like the responsibility was being placed entirely on me rather than acknowledging that an undisclosed ingredient had been served. I understand that customers with allergies should communicate them whenever possible, but I also think restaurants have a responsibility to disclose ingredients that aren't typically expected, especially when they're hidden in the presentation. I've had tiramisu many times and have never encountered one served with kiwi tucked beneath whipped cream. Again, the food itself was good, and this review isn't about trying to get compensation. I genuinely wanted to help prevent a similar situation for someone else. Unfortunately, the way my concern was handled left me feeling dismissed and caused me to lose confidence in the restaurant's approach to food allergies.
