Today we came for brunch my husband had the eggs and homemade sausage with homestyle potatoes I had eggs over easy with rice and teriyaki beef. Service here is quick and efficient. Coffee is fresh and delicious. The ambience reminds me of Home in Hawaii when coming here please be sure to tip the server. Well, it is a local owned business.

Combo roast pork with gravy and Aunties chicken

Came on a Sunday morning, there was lots of parking in the private lot in the strip mall. There was a short line which moved quickly. So no real wait. Pay at the counter then find a seat. I got the combo plate with roast pork and aunties chicken. The roast pork was soft and cut thick and gravy poured on top. I guess I'm used to the pork being cooked in the gravy so it's drenched in gravy. I did wish there was gravy over the rice and mac salad, guess I should have asked. Aunties fried chicken had a nice light crispy crust, You could tell the chicken was seasoned but I wish it was seasoned more, it was a bit subtle. Maybe season the breading too? Idk. I also got the coconut coffee was nice and sweet. A nice balance of sweet coconut and bitter coffee. Service was friendly. There was lots of parking, the place seats about 30 people. At times the line gets longer but many people are picking up phone in or online orders so it's not as bad as it seems.

We were in the area and looked up Hawaiian food eateries nearby that were open on Sunday morning. That led us to Aunties Cafe in the Gateway Plaza of Gardena. The long strip mall had plenty of open parking which was a nice perk. A short line of customers was in front of us that grew longer by the time we finished our meal. The inside of the suite wasn't very large and could seat maybe thirty customers. A two-page menu sheet featured breakfast, sandwiches, musubi, soup, and drinks on one side. The other page listed plates, loco moco, seafood, fried rice, and healthy options. The variety and number of offerings were extensive for a mom-and-pop kitchen. My friend chose one of the dozen breakfast choices while I selected a Sausage Musubi and a traditional Loco Moco for my meal. We grabbed one of the empty tables and waited for our order to be delivered which happened within 15 minutes. The musubi arrived first and was a decent size for $2.75. A slice of Portuguese sausage was sandwiched in between two layers of rice that was held together by a seaweed wrap. Unfortunately, the more I bit into the musubi, the more it fell apart which hasn't happened much when I eat this product elsewhere. The Loco Moco was hamburger patties served over white rice with brown gravy topped with eggs over medium (my choice). The item was served in a shallow bowl which I thought was unusual. That made it more difficult to cut the patties into smaller pieces. The portion size was alright for the price while the flavors were straight comfort food. For our visit to Aunties Cafe, I gave a 3.5 star rating for the Hawaiian cuisine experience.

Not sure how I haven't dropped a review for Aunties ... anyway, it's time Dropped in for breakfast on a rainy Saturday morning last month. Hawaiian spot open that early (7AM). I showed up at 6:58. Was still invited inside to sit while everything was being set up. Ordered a simple breakfast (Portuguese Sausage & Eggs) with a Spam Musubi and a Coke (Fountain) btw, comes with rice. See pics. Was craving something from my childhood and Aunties checked off all the boxes. Sitting there enjoying every bite down to the last grain of rice, I remembered learning to make this back when I was 7 or 8 years old. I didn't ask but the only thing missing was Chili Pepper water. Service was good - I say good because there was nothing wrong. Friendly. Follow up. Left me to enjoy my meal. Even after I was finished and just relaxing (on my phone) she checked on me. Not rushed to get out. Lots of parking. I think Aunties isn't open for dinner or they close early so parking isn't an issue during the dinner rush. At least I've never had a problem eating at any of the places in that plaza. Anyway - better late than never for my review of this place for back home comfort style food.

We wanted to go to Pan's but the wait was 40 minutes so we opted to try out Aunties Cafe instead. Solid place to go for Hawaiian food. Servings are quite big. Locals seem to like this place. I had the loco moco. The gravy was so good and the patties were well seasoned. My friend ordered the chicken and waffle, which was good too. Their coffee is self serve and refillable.

I had a craving for Hawaiian food and decided to check this place out. Located in the large strip mall area near El Pollo Inca. Walking into the restaurant it's nice and clean. I decided to get a two item combo with Auntie's fried chicken and the Mongolian beef. The combo comes with a scoop of rice and Mac salad. The Mongolian beef was way too sweet for my taste. I ended up eating a couple of bites and trashed the rest. The fried chicken was just okay. The mac salad was overly mayonnaise and runny. I also ordered a side of Portuguese sausage patties which you get two for $8. Definitely was lacking something in the flavor. My benchmark for Portuguese sausage is Gardena Bowl Coffee shop. Sorry it was a big disappointment. There's definitely way better Hawaiian eateries in the area.

This place is always a solid stop for me--especially when I'm charging up the car and need a bite that hits the spot. My go-to order? The Aloha Royal. It's hands down my favorite thing on the menu. Picture this: perfectly grilled Portuguese sausage, char siu, scrambled eggs, all piled on a generous bed of fried rice and topped with teriyaki sauce. The flavor combo is unreal--savory, slightly sweet, and totally satisfying. It's the kind of meal that fills you up and leaves you thinking about it days later. Service is quick and friendly, and the vibe inside is relaxed and welcoming. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Auntie's is well worth the stop--especially if you're hungry and charging a Tesla.

Walk in, grab any open table, snag a menu from the rack on the left, then head up to the register to order. Super easy setup, and they bring the food right to you. We went for the Locomoco (upgraded with bacon fried rice) and Rudy's Locomoco. Me: 8/10 -- solid, but I kept wishing for a little kick. Chili oil probably would've done the trick. Sonny: 8.5/10 -- same thought, spice would've leveled it up. Rabsang: 8.5/10 -- loved the touch of sweetness. Iber: 8/5 -- portions are HUGE, like seriously enough for two. Overall: sweet + savory flavors, total Hawaiian comfort food vibes, and portions that will leave you stuffed. A little more spice and it'd be perfect, but still a spot worth hitting up if you're hungry and craving island vibes.

Aunties cafe is one of my favorite comfort meals! It's raining, it's been a long week, I had a break in a crazy day so I headed straight down Artesia to Gardena from Carson! When I walk in I know the owner is going to greet me with a smile and a quick energetic conversation about sports! Love this mom and pop spot, the bacon fried rice is the BEST. Also recommend their breakfast burrito (usually get the Kalua pork) and the chicken and waffles. Order at the counter and if you order a drink then it's self serve. Nice large tv inside too. I see a lot of people order takeout.

First time here. I ordered the Portuguese Sauage, Scrambled Eggs with Bacon Fried Rice. The young lady that took my order was very pleasant. The lady that brought my food to the table was a bit rude. Don't know if she was having a bad day, but she just dropped the plate of food on the table and didn't not acknowledge me when I said thank you. The Portuguese Sausage was a bit greasy but very flavorful. The Eggs were cooked well and the Bacon Fried Rice was a bit salty. Over all I probably would not go back and will stick to going to other Hawaiian Restaurants and take out places in the area.

Wonderful Hawaiian food combined with attentive and very courteous staff=4.5 rating. First time visit (did takeout), especially like bacon fried rice and Loco Moco. Also ordered chicken karaage and Aloha Royal, which were both good. Will return to try fried chicken, Roast pork with gravy and Aunties BBQ chicken. Long time user, but rare reviewer, but I just had to write about my delightful find of Aunties Cafe when searching for "light food". While not really "light", it is very delicious and wonderful comfort food. I usually order Neils Plate with Shari's rice instead of boring white rice (highly recommended)! I've also had their Denver omelet, cheeseburger, and loco moco - all delish! Wow - portions are generous - Neils plate is enough for 3 meals. While nothing had bold/strong flavors, all of the pieces were delicious comfort foods. I really appreciated the subtle, balanced flavors of the macaroni salad, roast pork, and surprisingly sweetish fried chicken nuggets/fingers. And the Mongolian beef is way more delicious than it looks :). read more

Boy, am I glad I went to church with my mom today in GArdena. She mentioned she wanted to try out a new place in a strip mall. Super happy we did! Everyone was so super friendly and nice which is so typical of Hawaiians! Food was super great. Their fried rice with their omelette was delicious! Cannot wait to come here for lunch and dinner. Auntie Fried Chicken was excellent. Great crispy crunch ans moist. Full portin is ample with 2 scoops of rice a 1 scoop of Mac salad. Chicken was served piping hit as well. My favorite place for Hawaiian local style breakfast. I don't know about you, but I hate when I order eggs and it's not right.. Auntie's hasn't messed up yet. Sunny side up or over easy, the eggs are cooked perfectly, runny goodness. Corned beef hash is not fresh out of a can. Great portion sizes. Horrible service ! Waited for a loco moco they never made! Finally saw a bag sitting on the counter went inside asked if that was it..yes, they said. Get outside , open it up... nope not my order . Cashier can only give me a blank stare.... Are they making it? Nods... go back outside, decide to go in for a refund she must've known I was coming for because she was already counting me my money back. Minus the tip I gave them of course! Wow! I am a first timer and I will now become a regular because see not only is the food amazing but the service is even more superb. My daughter and I were greeted with warm smiles by the two young ladies working the counter this Saturday morning they were very attentive and served our food to our tables with pride. And proud tthis staff should be because the foood was amazing. I ordered the Portuguese sausage with eggs and substituted my rice for bacon fried rice BEST DECISION I could have made, it was delicious. My daughter had tofu musubi and a tofu bowl and loved it. The portions are a good amount and most likely you will take some to go if you have a smaller appetite. Price was totally worth the amount of food you get. For me the most important quality if taste. This place has it. I am always on the search for a good hamburger plate lunch and this place by far has been the best I've had in california by far!! It is very hard to make a good gravy this place nailed it. I loved the hamburger too slightly charred it was perfect. My husband loves teriyaki and said this place has the best teriyaki he has tasted in a long time. We transplanted from hawaii in 1999 and have tried lots of places up till now. I believe i made the best hamburger plate lunch, until now. This place has surpassed me. The servings are enough and i wasn't able to finish my plate. I think the only improvement would be a little larger mac salad serving i ran out of that, delish also! So i am going back there again for sure! hopefully I can bring myself to try a different dish. Very Onolisious!!! Cost is about the same as other hawaiian cuisine dishes in the double digits. I might have given this place 5 stars had the service been more organized. We were handed menus when we arrived and told we could sit anywhere. The first cashier explained that when we were ready to order to come back to the counter. When we decided, hubby got in line at the counter...one gentleman ahead of us. Another cashier told us there were several people in this party and she had to take their orders first. After 3 or 4 people placed their order...hubby walked up again. Cashier said she was still helping the other party as more people walked in. Hubby sat down again...not a happy camper! After a bit longer...the first cashier came and took our order. She was very friendly, just so happens that she was Asian. Although the chicken karaage and waffle caught my eye...I decided on Shari's fried rice with an over easy egg. The fried rice was very tasty with plenty of char sui and bacon. Hubby had the regular loco loco. Definitely one of the better loco mocos we've had here on the mainland. I'm embarrassed by HOW DELICIOUS Auntie's Cafe is! My family and I decided to order it through Grubhub last weekend for breakfast, and we picked four things we all decided to split: a breakfast burrito, two different breakfast sandwiches, and a rice-and-Portuguese sausage with kimchi and gravy dish, topped with a fried egg. Everything was absolutely perfect! The seasonings were on point, even the things that should've been greasy were instead fresh and buttery, and maaaan, that sausage over rice with kimchi sent us right back to the killer island food we've had in Grand Cayman. We will absolutely be ordering from them again, and we just can't get over how amazing their food was! (This is coming from a major high-brow eater!) We were looking forward to trying this place because we had heard so many good things about it. Unfortunately, our experience does not seem to match many others that have left rave reviews of this restaurant. The price point of this restaurant is comparable to similar restaurants but what surprised me was that our food was served on tiny styrofoam plates. We also ate with plastic utensils even though we were dining inside the restaurant. You would think that at $13-$15 a plate, food would be served on an actual ceramic plate with metal utensils. The plate was so small that my food spilled off my plate and onto the table. Customer service was lacking and flavor was ok.... Nothing outstanding. read more

First, we were quickly greeted and asked to select our table (since they were not that busy). Since there was only two of us, we picked a table for two. But, after we decided that we would split an appetizer and an entree, the table for two became way to small way too quickly. Geovani jumped right on this, suggesting we move to a larger table. He helped us move everything over and, voila, we were able to stretch out and relax and enjoy our meal. We started with the pear and blue cheese salad and, wow, we could have just ordered this, split it, and we would have been full. Very flavorful, generous portion that is definitely big enough to share. We also ordered the Sausage & Leek Fettuccine and I was definitely not thinking. Totally forgetting that leeks are part of the onion family (and I have a sensativity to onions). Once the dish arrive, I immediately noticed the similarity and was slowly trying to pick them away from my portion. Once again, Geovani came to our rescue. He asked how everything was and I told him I made a mistake (noted above). He quickly volunteered to have the kitchen make it again without the leeks. I asked, "Are you sure?", and he immediately said yes and removed the dish. Very shortly after, he returned with the "onion sterile" dish and it was wonderful. Both of us were so full you could have rolled us out the door. Good thing the parking garage is so close so we could just hop in our car and go home. Time to loosen the belt! ;) In a week where we have had some personal issues, it was so nice to be treated so well and received such a great tasting meal. My go-to order is the bacon and Portuguese sausage combo, minus the tater tots, and it never disappoints. Also I love the traditional Hawaiian music that plays as I'm enjoying my food. It always creates a calm and comfortable environment. I've explored breakfast burrito options all over the South Bay and Los Angeles, and nothing even comes close to Auntie's. The flavor profile is absolutely outstanding. The bacon is thick and delightfully crunchy, elevating every bite to a whole new level of deliciousness. Wow, this restaurant is legit!! It felt like I was at home in Hawaii eating at my favorite casual restaurant. The TNT Fried Chicken reminded me of chicken that my mom used to make for my field trips or family gatherings. The Loco Moco had a nice char flavor to the burgers and the gravy had a wonderful beef flavor without being too salty. The restaurant was clean and the service was unbelievable. The cashiers were helpful during the ordering process and even though the restaurant is fast casual it felt like a full service restaurant. The cashiers checked with us twice during our meal and even came by to take away our dirty plates. If you want authentic Hawaiian food with fantastic service then head over to Aunties Cafe. Alright, so I tried this Hawaiian breakfast joint, and it was just okay. The food was decent, but nothing to write home about. The menu had the usual suspects like pancakes, omelets, french toast, loco moco, musubis. It's on the pricey side, and they serve you using a disposable foam plates, which I felt pretty weird. I'm paying $9+ for mediocre french toast served on a disposable foam plate. The service was alright, but nothing exceptional. The vibe was relaxed, though, which was nice. If you're in the mood for a basic breakfast, it'll do the job, but don't expect anything mind-blowing. read more

Stopped here by accident and ended up really liking it! We were all pleasantly surprised. This spot is in a center with lots of diverse restaurants. We ordered Neil's plate which was so big they had to put the pork on an extra place, saimin was solid, chicken and waffles that was tasty, and the katsu plate filled with lots of individually Panko breaded large pieces of chicken. We had leftovers for later. Order at the counter and get your own drinks. They bring the fresh food to you. Clean interior and restrooms. read more

The general population work here are extremely mindful, and the proprietor (almost certain he's the proprietor) appears to be really keen on ensuring you have a decent feasting knowledge. Ordered Take-Out from Auntie's Cafe. I ordered the Neil's Plate and Bacon Fried Rice. Huge serving of food that was spot on for flavor. Restaurant is very clean and service is awesome. Staff is very welcoming. I recommend this place. Come check it out soon. read more
