I don't usually leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience. I've attached pictures that speak for themselves about the poor quality of their dip powder nails. It wasn't just a bad job--within a week, I developed a painful infection on my pointer finger. In hindsight, I should have taken the empty salon on a Saturday afternoon as a red flag. A week later, I had to go to another salon to have them fixed. The technicians there were shocked and asked where I had gotten them done, even suggesting that I shouldn't have paid for such poor work. The dip powder was applied way too thick, and my nails had been filed down so much that they were too thin. They recommended giving my nails time to regrow before getting another manicure. My nails are so thin that UV light would burn my fingers

The ambience is very soothing and nice. People were immediately attentive to us when we walked in. Greeted us. They took really good care of my mom even though she is very finicky about things, I believe she enjoyed her experience! They were sensitive to us being in a hurry. Since I've uprooted her from our island, Guam, she has been on the tense side. She still hasn't fully transitioned, but I find she is easing into it and these guys really helped her. I highly recommend these folks. They're still new to us, but so far so good! Tammy did mom's pedicures and mom wasn't showing her dislike at all (she wears her heart on her sleeve). Try this place! I think you'll agree this is the for everyone! PS I saw a couple and I couldn't help myself!! I smiled to them and told them they should be (the example) on the front cover of a magazine! The husband was enjoying his pedi and his spending time with his wife!

After my first visit to Aura - I'm not super impressed. The location itself is nice enough - seems clean and it's more open and spacious than most nail salons. My gel manicure is pretty mediocre - the tips of my nails aren't painted, the gel is uneven, and my cuticles were cut in a few places. The basic pedicure is nothing to write home about. Def get an upgraded one if you go. Maybe I'll come back and try someone else. But first impressions are meh.

It was my first time here and did a walk in! Waited a few moments before they worked on my nails. Honestly was impressed by the attention to detail and neatness of my nail. Sometimes places can miss a spot or have it thick and uneven but I felt that they did a good job trimming it, making sure it was even, didn't feel as though my nails were chunky or anything. I moved to the area about a year ago and had been struggling to find a friendly staffed nail salon that would also do a good job with my manis and pedis. I'm so glad to have found Aura! My nails look amazing just as the picture I showed my nail tech (Mai) and my pedicure was relaxing and turned out just as I expected. I will definitely be going again! Highly recommend Aura Day Spa in Alexandria! I have quite literally tried almost every nail salon in Springfield. At Aura, I've only been with Ashley & Mickey so far and both are awesome! Prices are reasonable and they have a great selection of colors & pedicure options. I always do a Spa Pedicure which is totally worth $65 for a 15-minute massage. Both nail technicians are detailed and take their time, which I can appreciate. The salon itself is extremely clean with tasteful decor and calming music. This place has everything you could possibly want in a salon. My only tip (and this goes for any nail salon) make an appointment if you want a technician to take their time. Even if it's 30minutes in advance. It ensures they have the allotted time for exactly what you want.

Impressive find! I scheduled a last-minute appointment with Mia, and she turned out to be incredibly sweet. Walking into the salon, I was pleasantly surprised by its cleanliness and spaciousness. Despite being a last-minute booking, Mia took her time and didn't rush through the service. I went for the dip with gel, and the results were fantastic! I'll definitely return for another visit. Amazing local find. So many positive things to say! 1. Extremely clean! 2. Nice open space. 3. Staff is kind and knowledgeable. 4. Easily accessible for those with mobility needs, there is a slight ledge getting into the building, but staff was there to assist if needed. 5. Amazing gel manicure. 6. This is the absolutely best nail spa! I am a long time customer and have experienced nail services from other salons which do not measure up to Aura Day Spa. Clients are greeted and treated with respect. There are a variety of services offered and the nail color options are amazing. This is my new favorite spot for manicures, pedicures, and facials. The staff is very attentive. I got the best facial of my life here and the prices were reasonable for it. I also love the decor and that it is extremely clean. They're doing a great job of keeping things safe during the pandemic which I especially appreciate. I came here for birthday treatments and I went back to their other location the other day with some friends. Both locations are great but I prefer this one as it's larger and less crowded. I'm so glad that I found this relaxing spa as my new favorite special treat! read more

Very disappointed with my visit today as I was highly recommended to come here from a colleague. I had an 11:30 AM appointment with Vy and I got to Aura at 11:25 AM. I come to the desk I sign in my appointment is on the screen I'm excited I'm already to go. Me and another young lady are at the front and Vee in a very loud voice start saying you don't have an appointment with me I don't know who you have an appointment with is not with me. I was appalled ! I said I signed in and my appt says 1130am. I called yesterday to make the appt. And Vy proceeds to yell at me saying she's with someone I don't have an appt. At this point I'm on the verge of tears cause I've had a long week and have been looking forward to this . Everyone in the Salon is looking at me and I'm mortified. Vy then says oh you have an appt at 4pm lol . I said no I don't. She says yes you do I'll find someone to do your nails. I said my appt is for a pedicure not nails with you at 11:30. I would have left but my day is so jam packed I just stayed. Vy leaves , then the other lady tells me to pick a color. I'm at the colors shaking cause I work with clients daily and I would never treat anyone like this. 5 to 7 minutes later Mai/ My comes up to me and says hi etc I'll be doing your nails. She is very kind. I can tell that she is being extra nice but that's fine . Trying to remedy the situation I suppose. My showed me the pedicure list and I choose the $65 one and I point to it I think it's called aura day signature pedicure. Vy is in ear shot of Me and tells My To tell me how much it is .. as if I don't know as I point the the pedicure / pricing on the list. The pedicure is average and My is very nice and checks in with me constantly. I appreciate her for that . Coming to the end of the pedicure My says to me I hope you'll be back please make an appointment next time... I just Laugh and say I had one this time.. she says thank you. I go to check out I tip My Generously and I get to the front and they say my total is $85 . Ok great . It's my first time here so I use the 20% off coupon bringing it down to $68. I hand her a $100 bill as you get an additional 5a% off when you pay cash. I asked about that and the two ladies start speaking Vietnamese and seemed annoyed so I just leave . I've alreqdy had a horrible enough experience Where I'm not going to argue Over 5%. Will I be back of course not. The spa is nice, it has a parking lot which is a plus and they do offer deluxe pedicure services . Before I left Vy Yelped out an apology cause was with another client. After 90 minutes of being there it really meant nothing at that moment. I wasn't even upset about not getting my appointment with Vy I was just mortified by the treatment . read more

Great place! Micky did an excellent job on my gel mani and pedi. The place was really clean and had a very peaceful and relaxing vibe Which I very much appreciated. I pricing was very reasonable. I have never been treated so disrespectfully in a so called service institution. I made an appointment 3 weeks ago for right when they open on a Sunday. I checked the website to remind myself the time and it says they open at 11. When I arrive I am chastised by a rude attendant who may be a supervisor yelling that she "lost money" bc I arrived late. This was also Mother's Day so nice way to treat your clientele . I will never ever go back and the place is also more expensive than other places - with hostile contempt to their clients as an added bonus. Don't go here. read more

Overall great service and they do nice sns but not sure they are that great when it comes to designs if you like to try new things. I would give them 5 stars but they don't allow you to tip when you pay. You have to pay cash only or use their atm to dispense cash to tip their staff which is annoying. But good atmosphere and service so I guess that will have to do. read more

The inside was beautiful and my nails turned out okay; however, I'm giving it 1 star because of hygiene concerns. They were sharing cuticle trimmers between customers and with themselves without cleaning them first. The nail technician was almost done with my pedicure and while she waited for my feet to soak, she took the cuticle trimmer that she used on my feet and cut her cuticles with it. She then proceeded to try to use it again on my feet. I asked her not to. Then another technician took the trimmer and used it on another client's feet. Again without washing it. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

My husband got me a gift card for a facial, manicure, and pedicure for Mother's Day. I went with the Signature facial and the tropical manicure and pedicure. I had an AMAZING experience. Tina is incredibly knowledgeable about skincare, and my face hasn't felt this fresh in a long time. After the facial, my face felt super clean and hydrated. She took her time, and it was well worth it. I will definitely be coming back. The manicure and pedicure were also a great experience. It was super relaxing, and I enjoyed the experience. I plan on getting my mom a gift card for a spa day here. I highly recommend this place to family and friends! Also, super clean and organized! read more

I have been a customer at Glam Nails for years, so my review will be a comparison between the two salons: PROS of AURA: very friendly staff, knowledgeable about nail care and were willing to give me suggestions on how to do my nails, a much larger color selection than Glam, very quick at SNS while still looking amazing, cheaper than Glam by a little, very modern and clean salon CONS of AURA: doesn't offer the wine that Glam does, massages are much shorter than at Glam, the SNS full set doesn't come with the typical manicure steps like cuticle trim, that was additional Overall a great experience and I will be coming back to check out their pedicures. read more

Very nice welcoming ladies. It's a new location and for the longest time I would drive past and think it was a hair salon but was very surprised to find out it's a very nice, clean, and calm nail salon. Very spacious as well and perfect for COVID since they have many chairs and can spread ppl out very easily. read more

This is the best nail salon I've been too. I look forward to my special me time at this relaxing retreat every month. It's super clean (they use a plastic on the foot tub), quiet, spacious, and friendly. They keep track of all the polish colors you have ever used. The technicians are very professional, skilled, and go the extra mile with massages. The ambiance is the best part of this salon and I won't go to any other place. You definitely get what you pay for and I can't say enough good things about this place. read more

Since the change in ownership a few months ago the service and quality of a manicure/pedicure has significantly decreased. The past three times after paying for a mani/pedi I have had to have one or two nails touched up in less than two weeks because the polish has flaked off. If you are looking for a quality mani/pedi Aura in Springfield VA is no longer the place. Only visit the original Aura Nail Spa now in Arlington or some other nail spa if you are wanting a quality mani/pedi that will last a full two weeks! read more

Beautiful salon! I was offered a beverage as soon as I walked in. Paid $45 for a fill with gel polish. Also included a hand massage and shoulder massage that lasted about 2 minutes each. Ashley was nice and did a great job on my nails. read more

Ownership has changed and not for the better. Appointment schedules are not kept, the place looks messy and disorganized, the quality of polish has changed and techs are multitasking and distracted when working on clients. I have been a client here since they opened but if Annie were to leave I would never come back. read more

I've visited this salon a few times. SOME of their manicurists are good but the place is always chaotic and no one seems to be in charge to solve problems or issues. They rush you to pick your color and don't seem interested in hearing about how you want your nails to look or answer questions about pricing. Another reviewer mentioned Helen and she was spot on. Helen is super aggressive with the drill and often rough up the surrounding skin which is very painful. Today took the cake though. They charge extra for using a credit card so I used their ATM to take out a two hundred dollars to pay and leave a tip. The ATM spit out $60 and then started flashing an error message. Of course, I'm concerned and asked them about the $140 I didn't receive. The woman said 'the bank will reimburse you'. I asked when that would happen and she said 'a day or two'. Really? So I replied with, well then I'll pay you in 'a day or two' when I receive the $140 their ATM shorted me. This was not an option for them so not only did I lose $140 cash, I also had to use my credit card to pay the bill and wasn't even offered the 5% discount as a courtesy because I tried to use cash. No one seemed to be in charge and willing to try and problem solve. All of the desk staff I communicated with were defensive and unprofessional. I was not being rude or aggressive- I just wanted someone to address the issue of their ATM shorting me $140 and only received rudeness and excuses. I won't be coming back to Aura Day Spa and would not recommend this place to anyone. While some of the manicurists are pretty good, it's a terribly run, chaotic business. read more

A wonderful experience for my first time here! I read the reviews on Yelp and took a shot. I got a manicure and pedicure with Ashley and she was fantastic. I haven't had any spa services in at least two years and Ashley had her work cut out for her- lol! She worked quickly and efficiently, and was gentle with my feet as requested. Here's what our feedback was to the establishment since they asked, and I decided to share here in case it's helpful to anyone thinking about going here: "The overall experience was disappointing and did not meet the standards expected of a professional wellness or spa environment. The walk between buildings felt awkward and disjointed, and the areas where services were provided were visibly unclean. This immediately detracted from the sense of calm and comfort that clients typically seek when booking spa services. The sauna instructions were overly complicated and nonintuitive. Rather than supporting a seamless, stress-free experience, the setup required unnecessary effort and attention at a time when guests should be able to arrive, decompress, and enjoy the service. One of the facials was particularly concerning. The provider fell out of her chair during the session, left the room for approximately 15 minutes within the allotted service time, and complained openly about missing supplies that had not been ordered. Her presentation and behavior appeared impaired or otherwise not fully attentive, which was alarming in a setting where professionalism, focus, and client safety are expected. There were also sanitation concerns. Gloves were not worn during the sessions- in particular extractions & close facial work, which raised hygiene and safety questions. Given the nature of skincare treatments and direct contact with facial areas, adherence to clear sanitation protocols is critical. Both facials were performed below expected standards. Product application felt careless rather than intentional for both clients. Creams were applied in a manner that resulted in product entering the nostril area for both clients. In one instance, the technician had to awkwardly clean the inside of a nostril during the service, which was unexpected and uncomfortable (and something never experienced prior). In the other facial, cream entered the nostril and remained there throughout the session, creating concern about inhalation; the client ultimately had to clean it out herself after the session. This experience was distracting and far from relaxing. Additionally, massage and sculpting techniques reflected a noticeable lack of refinement and training, particularly for clients accustomed to higher-quality services. Overall, the experience lacked attentiveness, professionalism, cleanliness, and the level of care expected in a premium setting."

It's so endearing that any modern small business would invest such thought and care into these details. Yet QQ1 has. And it shows in their scheduling flexibility when a new client first calls to see if any appointments are open for a new client's unexpected back pain flair-up. Which is surely going to be exacerbated by the added pain in the neck of trying to find a quick available time to get a professional therapist treatment. Which makes it great to know that I when you call QQ1 they will say: just drive over. They handle this type of thing all the time. How often can anyone say they actually leave a retail establishment feeling so much better than they did when they came in?

They've simply moved on and created this wonderful salon. We weren't previous clients, but their reputation definitely preceded them. On a Saturday around 4:00 PM, my wife and I decided on a spur-of-the-moment manicure and pedicure date. Anyone who regularly visits nail salons knows that's usually a recipe for disappointment. Either the salon is fully booked, the wait is outrageous, or you end up with the technician nobody else wanted. Thankfully, luck was on our side. I went online and found only two appointment slots remaining. We selected our services, submitted the request, and within five minutes our appointment was confirmed. Shortly afterward, we received a phone call confirming everything and letting us know we could even arrive a little earlier if we'd like. Our appointment was scheduled for 5:15 PM. N & J Nails is located in Alexandria, just a few minutes from Potomac Yard and on the same block as Founding Farmers. Depending on traffic, the 9-mile drive from our home can take anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour. Thankfully, we made it in just under 30 minutes. Parking was easy. There is both street parking and garage parking available. We chose street parking and paid $4 for two hours, but learned that garage parking can be validated. When we arrived, we were greeted by the same gentleman who had called to confirm our appointment. It wasn't the typical "you're the last appointment of the day, let's get this over with" greeting. It felt like they had genuinely been expecting us and were happy we were there. We were offered beverages and snacks, then settled into the massage chairs for our pedicures. My wife worked with Tina while I had Linda. After reviewing the menu and confirming our selections, they made a few recommendations and got started. My wife chose a spa manicure and spa pedicure with gel polish and builder gel to help strengthen and grow out her natural nails. My service included callus removal, nail trimming and shaping, cuticle care, orange slices, a sea salt and mint mud foot mask, relaxing massage treatments, oil lotion massage, and hot towels. The total before tip was approximately $250 for both of us. Before Linda began, I warned her that I'm extremely ticklish. I usually end up asking technicians to skip the foot massage because it's never enjoyable. Not this time. For the first time ever, I was actually able to enjoy a foot massage. Linda clearly knew exactly what she was doing. There were a couple brief moments during the callus removal that tickled a little, but compared to every other pedicure I've received, it was minimal. The scrub, water temperature, calf massage, foot massage, and overall technique were absolutely perfect. The finished pedicure was flawless. Smooth feet. Perfectly trimmed and shaped nails. No pain. No bleeding. No rushing. What impressed me most was her attention to detail. Even after I would have been completely satisfied, she continued checking, refining, and perfecting her work. She clearly takes pride in what she does. The manicure was equally impressive. Every nail and cuticle received the same level of care and precision. Nothing felt rushed. Everything looked clean, polished, and professional. The hand massage was fantastic as well. I actually started writing this review on Saturday but intentionally waited until Monday to finish it because I wanted to see how everything held up. Two days later? Still perfect. My wife wrote her own review specifically for Tina, but she was equally impressed. Both Tina and Linda were exceptional. Throughout the appointment we shared laughs, had great conversation, and by the end it felt less like visiting a business and more like spending time with people who genuinely care about their clients. Even Ben stopped by toward the end and joined the conversation. That's what makes N & J Nails special. The services were excellent. The salon was spotless. Throughout our visit, staff continuously cleaned and maintained the space. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and relaxing. Most importantly, every person there genuinely seemed to care about delivering the best experience possible. There were only three workers, which I understand, but it was still frustrating to wait that long with an appointment. The pedicure also felt rushed. Usually you get lotion and a little massage, but none of that was included. At that point I just wanted to get my nails done and leave. For my manicure, the technician used a portable UV lamp that made my nails burn. It was really uncomfortable, and he didn't seem concerned when I mentioned it. I got a French tip, and you could clearly see my nail beds through the polish. When I told him I wasn't happy with how it looked, he just said it was my natural nail instead of trying to fix it. The most disappointing part was the quality. I tipped, left, and in less than 24 hours my thumbnail had already chipped. That has never happened to me before not even when I do my own nails at home. I ended up going to a nail salon in South Carolina, and they immediately told me the nails weren't done well and that they wouldn't last. They also added a better nude base color so you couldn't see my nail beds anymore, which made a huge difference. That showed me that my nails could have been done correctly at Old Town Nail & Spa, but they simply weren't. They also told me more chipping was likely to happen. I paid a lot of money because I wanted my nails to look nice for a wedding that weekend, and instead I got poor-quality nails and disappointing customer service. Sadly, I won't be coming back.

I had a manicure and then eyebrows. They both turned out perfectly! Here they will make conversation with you and make sure your happy. My friend's pedicure turned out great as well and she was very pleased! I was especially impressed with the extra time she took on my eyebrows. She wanted to listen to you opinion and offered advice. The place is very clean and organized. They even give frequent buyer punch cards! Altogether my eyebrows wax and manicure (with 15% discount from Yelp) came to $20. A steal. We'll be back!

They have calm music in the background. The facility was clean. Lots of white and wood. I've never tried an organic nail salon before. This place was unique. You soak your feet in a tub of warm water. The chairs aren't the typical massage chairs you see at other salons. This wasn't a problem for me as it was still comfortable. I elected to get the gentlemen's pedicure which I was told came with a bit extra's from a scrub and extended massage. Unfortunately, it felt like they were rushing here. My pedicure was complete in ~23 minutes. While I am not an expert, that seemed like they wanted us out or were ready to start closing. It would have been better if they told us they weren't taking anymore appointments if this was the case. The service was fine. The technicians were friendly. My massage and scrub didn't feel that great and what I am used to receiving at other salons. It's a cool concept with the organic materials but I probably won't be coming back here.

It had been some time since I received a massage, so I was looking forward to this visit! There is a parking garage conveniently located next to the spa, so that was great. The staff at the entrance promptly greeted me and asked if it was my first time. The process of checking in and getting around was simplified by them taking the time to walk me where I needed to go rather than just telling me, which was appreciated. I was walked to the area where I changed into a robe and was subsequently accompanied to the massage area. Unfortunately for me, there were a lot of stairs, something that my knee and foot surgeries did not appreciate. It was a little awkward to sit in a small, public waiting area wearing a robe but it's a minor sacrifice. I had a massage with Audrey, who was very nice and professional. I appreciated that she took the time to ask me about my concern areas and my goals for the massage. The massage itself was good, though I unfairly compare massages to my former therapist who was exceptional. Audrey was very communicative and, even for someone who finds it difficult to relax, it was a good experience.
