The staff was very helpful and assured us that they would have the chef use separate utensils and a clean, separate wok for our meal. We ordered the Pad See Ew, and it was absolutely perfect -- delicious, well prepared, and easily comparable in quality to some of the best Thai restaurants we have tried. The main concern is that the fryer is still shared with pork products, so fried items cannot really be considered halal due to possible contamination with pork fat. We really appreciate the effort they are making to accommodate halal customers, but having pork on the menu and shared equipment is still a concern. A great example is Top Thai in NYC, which offers similarly excellent Thai food while operating with a fully halal menu. They have built a very strong following, showing that going fully halal does not mean compromising on quality or business potential. Hopefully this restaurant will eventually consider removing pork completely and becoming fully halal as well. The food quality is already there, and considering the surrounding market and demand for good halal food, I believe it could substantially expand their customer base.
