It's 2025, and Asian-fusion fare is the name of the game. Their dishes often incorporate ingredients from multiple culinary traditions, offering diverse flavors, modern twists on traditional dishes, and visually stunning presentations that appeal to adventurous patrons. Opened since 2017, we have made a return for lunch after 3 years. Located off of River Road along the picturesque waterfront in Edgewater, SEAK (Southeast Asian Kitchen) is a Vietnamese and Thai fusion restaurant. Upon entering, my partner and I were greeted by the staff and got a table inside a trendy Brooklyn industrial vibe, with the restaurant's modern, eclectic decor and a fabulous view of Upper Manhattan. Outdoor seating is also available during warmer weather. Their Viet-Thai menu features the classic pho, chili-salted chicken wings, pad thai, and banh mi frites. We decided on the Singapore Curry Noodles with Chicken and Pad See Ew with Tofu. The food came out quickly. The portions looked deceptively small, but it was authentic, tastefully delicious, and filling. The service was consistent and attentive. The price was comparable to the area. This isn't the kind of place that gets a lot of foot traffic. They are banking on impressing you to the point where you want to come back, which we can continue to recommend.

Our first time going and we were there for lunch on a Tuesday. We love the ambiance and decor of the place. They also offer an outdoor seating but we stayed indoors since it was 90 degrees outside. Our greeter/server, Elizabeth was amazing. She offered best selection on the menu. Very attentive and friendly. We tried 2 appetizers: Vietnamese spring rolls and papaya salad. The spring rolls are quite small but packed with shrimp and vegetables. Delicious! The papaya salad is more of a mix of romaine lettuce and shredded papaya and grape tomatoes. Very light and fresh, subtle taste of fish sauce combined with palm sugar and Thai chili; sweet and slightly spicy. Yum! For the lunch specials, we got the Beef Bo lac lac, Thai basil chicken, lemongrass beef and Vietnamese pork chops. Everything was flavorful. Size of lunch dishes was big enough for all of us (4 of us) to share. Highly recommended!

The food was good. Very generous portion size but definitely a little more mellow in spice. I would have appreciated a little more of a kick but I can understand if it's not for everyone. Service was quick and decor was cute. Restaurant is spacious with enough seating for bigger groups.

Delicious food and they have seating right on the water. So many drinks, juices and bubble teas to choose from. Great app selection, loved the dumplings. Service was great.

This place is a hidden gem in Edgewater. Every time I go, I am happy with the food! Usually I take out, but this time I decided to eat in. Eliza, was my waitress and she gave me some greaat suggestions on what do you get. She was friendly and gave perfect service. I had the sweet & sour soup & the shrimp rolls! All was very good, I will definitely be going here again and I highly recommend.

Always love coming here for Thai/Viet food! Surprisingly though, the Singapore Curry Noodles is one of my fave dishes to get here and is a repeat order for me. Very flavorful and a good amount of spice. The portions are generous and the service is always great. When not Winter, they open up the patio for outdoor seating right by the water. Great vibe!!

I saw this place had good reviews (thanks Yelp!) so decided to check it out for lunch on a Sunday with my family. It's convenient since I'm always at Trader Joe's (just like everyone other person in Edgewater) and it's in the same shopping center. The restaurant had a lot of indoor/outdoor seating with an outdoor terrace. We ordered the grilled shrimp summer rolls, the banh xeo, the SEAK pho, the Thai eggplant with chicken, and the lemongrass pork chops. The portions were huge, definitely larger than I was expecting. The pork chops really surprised me since even they were gigantic, they were still very juicy and had a strong lemongrass flavor. The other dishes were good too but definitely the pork chops were spectacular. Service was great as well, very fast and friendly. I would definitely come back, probably in the summer since we can sit on the terrace.

After Sojo spa morning we were hungry for lunch and so happy we yelped to find this awesome place! Great and extensive menu For Thai and Vietnamese dishes. Fresh ingredients and beautiful decor inside! We chose to sit outside overlooking the river! I was so hungry and didn't take more pics of the delicious food except for the crepe! But I can assure you our tom kha chicken and a tofu one was sizable and delicious!! Ordered drunken noodles with chicken and also Thai iced bubble teas! So glad we found this place. You can't go wrong!!

I haven't been out to a restaurant where I thoroughly enjoyed every single dish in such a long time, and Seak definitely did that for me! I mean, 3 large pork chops in 1 order, and no, it did not break the bank. Delicious and flavorful. The mango sticky rice with their own little twist on it, definitely recommend. The pad see ew, pretty traditional but still very good. The mussels came in a Delicious curry, the menu doesn't mention its spicy but it is. Still very good. Summer rolls were fresh, nice size and stuffed with ingredients. Great, clean restaurant with a nice view and patio for outdoor dining. Would I recommend this place, yes. Will I go back? Absolutely!

It's a very atmospheric decor spot. We came here on a slow day and the service was great. The decor was very distinct on each wall. Some of the food was burnt. Their take on bahn mi is very good though. Without a doubt the food is really filling. So even if the portions look small don't let that deceive you. Pros: there is a parking lot and it's BYOB.

Great Thai food with breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline! Seak is a Thai/Vietnamese restaurant located in Edgewater, NJ with a back deck that extends out over the Hudson River. When we arrived the staff were extremely welcoming and offered us a table with amazing views. For dinner, I ordered the Red Curry Chicken which was delicious. The chicken was very high quality with plenty of thick bamboo shoots, large chunks of red pepper and eggplant. The curry sauce brought just the right amount of spicy goodness. As Thai curry goes, I would rate Seak in the tier I've had in NJ/NY. And the helping at Seak was perfect. A few other nice touches, Seak is BYOB and our waiter went the extra mile to place our beers on ice. The interior of the restaurant is also very clean and modern. On the flip side, my wife's Drunken Noodle was just so so, but we both agree that we should return soon. So I give two thumbs up!

This is my second time at Seak . First time I had their pho so the second time around I wanted something new. I got their Bang Mi and I must say that was the star of the show. Who knew they were so tasty!? Their Banh Mi was crunchy yet soft, I really liked the fact that it was saucy. The presentation was on point! I got the grilled sesame beef and friend got the heritage pork. He preferred the pork which works for me because I enjoyed the beef more! I would definitely come back for that alone. I also ordered their Banh Xeo and was pleasantly surprised! I thought the exterior shell would be crunchy but this one was more soft. Either way I liked it and I would re-order it again. To get seated by the window you have to be a party of 4 or more and usually those are reserved. You can ask to be seated closer to the window. Guarantee I will be back for a 3rd visit!

Can you accommodate group of 20?

Hello! Please call the restaurant directly at 201.402.3400 to make a reservation for a large party. Thank you!

Do u have to make reservations for a party of 6 for outdoor seating?

Hello! We accept reservations but not for the outdoor patio seating! The outdoor patio is first come first served.

Do they allow dogs on leash while eating in outdoor area?

I believe they do. The last time I was there a guest did have a smaller dog on leash next to us.

    Do they deliver to Secaucus?

I highly doubt they will, too far out for them. Your best chance is using one of the delivery apps like Uber eats or GrubHub.

Are they having outdoor dining yet?

Yes. Reservations are only made when you go to the hostess booth.

Are they offering outdoor seating amidst COVID-19 conditions?

Yes, patio seating is available on a first come, first served basis! Happy dining!!

Is this place open these days?

Ordered from them about a week ago. They do take out via one of the delivery platforms.

    Is this place halal?

    No, Thai/Vietnamese

Is this joint good for little one? Not too tight or filled w hustle bustle?

During our busy times, it can get louder in the restaurant, but we always have young kids come in with their families who able to enjoy a good meal :) Booths are available for a cozier experience, too!

Does the Bahn mi rolls have gluten or is there a gluten free option?

Hi Arlene, our bread used to make Banh Mi is not gluten free. Thank you for posting the question!

Following several errands I entered Sala for lunch, table for one please. I did not wait for an eternity for a table or to be served. I was certainty lured by lavish high praise from Yelpers but I decided to give it the o' college. The tables are closely next to seat neighbor patrons where I was beside a heterosexual couple who were all giddy holding hands and eternally doomscrolling on their respective phones. The tables are separated by a transparent partition fends a fake privacy sense. Pad Kee Mao with shrimp $20.00 Mild spicy as it is certainly not for the faint hearted who can intake spicy foods as the fried flat Chow Fun noodles were solid and sufficient for quantity. This entrée is my default to order. It was served somewhat piping hot. I choose to add shrimp as my choice of protein to be included in this entree. There were abundant onions. However, there were very minimal basil leaves and the bell peppers were stump stems as vegetables. The fried flat Chow Fun flat broad noodles is the main ingredient of this entree as the leading role which were flavorful. I truly enjoyed this entree as it is prepared in the traditional way. I did not particularly care for the bits of scrambled egg as I regard it as irrelevant. The shrimp, sadly, appears overcooked for too chewy and heavy with mash texture. I usually do not intake spicy foods as it is not my cup of tea, but I am open to intake and immerse in ethnic food cuisines and cultural foods. Immediately, minutes later my stomach highly disagreed with this mild spicy food and visited the restroom facility. I did not finish this entrée as I fear my stomach will further disagree. Thai iced tea $6.00 The only salvation for the mild heat spicy index of my mouth was the Thai ice tea because it contains milk. I've searched for ways to cool one's mouth for eating spicy food which drinking milk, eating chocolate and drinking alcohol are effective methods - NOT water. Cold water is distributed to battle the excessive heat and July 2026 NYC humidity. I am utterly dismayed that food is still a victim of stagflation for Thai ice tea extortionate priced $6.00! Oh! I wished I had carried Altoids breath mints which gets the job of clearing the effects of spicy food mouth. This entrée ate my fill and sustained my hunger pangs for the whole evening. It was served chilled with very minimal ice in a pineapple shape glass. Customer service is average. One of my waitress appeared new and in training as she was very visible to be befuddled when I requested for chopsticks. I almost always do not consume Asian food with a fork as a cultural penchant. However, the underlying truth for reason of this female waitress's wayward behavior is the L.E.P. Limited English Proficiency. I did obtain my sales receipt as a keepsake. I did obtain a business card and takeout menu. Complimentary mints are distributed at the end of the meal. There are two restroom facility. The upper floor is not ADA accessible as there is one short flight of stairs. The entrance is hidden behind an outdoor dinning shed which is actually a hostess stand and can be easily missed. Time for a stomach reset!…read more This restaurant is not for those who are sensitive to flavor and spice. If salt and pepper are the only two spices you can handle, this is not the restaurant, rather not the cuisine, for you. Thai food is based on a multitude of factors. Colors, variety, and spice. What I got here reflects all of that, even if my pictures show a large shade of brown. My first item is the Kao Soi Ped, a coconut curry noodle soup with duck and shallots. I was incredibly afraid to eat the whole thing because coconut curry is a natural laxative. However, the dry noodles and crispy (and rather tasty) duck probably saved me from potential embarrassment. The dish evolved from a chow mein into almost like a duck ramen, which actually made it fun to eat despite the insane flavor bomb it packed. My go-to at any Thai restaurant is a Drunken Noodle, better known as a Pad Kee Mao. It carries quite a punch to the mouth in flavor. There is also plenty of variance on the plate with ample noodles and chicken. The amount of vegetables to protein to noodle is appropriately proportionate to each other. Not one piece of this dish is out of place. The spice also countered the richness of the curry and to my surprise, I finished the whole thing. I never go to a Thai restaurant without ordering a Thai Iced Tea, and this one does it as well as one can make it. My advice is to order it and save it for later, when the heat and flavors need some temperance from taking over your stomach, throat, and later, perhaps your bowels. For Upper West Side standards, this is par for the course in terms of price and value. It is also close by the 1 train when it comes to convenience, but keep in mind the kitchen closes for a bit as the restaurant shifts from lunch mode to dinner mode. Good thing the restaurant is not far from a few distractions to keep you entertained if you want to dine here but do not live in the neighborhood. Or you could just plan your trip accordingly like any normal person and stop in after 4:30 pm if you want to come here for dinner. Enjoy the experience.

The service was pleasant, friendly, efficient and helpful from the minute we walked in without a reservation. The ambiance and decor was gorgeous and took me out of NYC for a moment. The phenomenal taste of the first sip of the Thai Iced Tea that paired so well with the rest of my meal is the reason behind the first picture I took. For the apps we ordered my favorite- Chicken Curry Puffs and Chicken Satay. The Chicken Curry Puffs were soft and perfectly mashy on the inside and had a perfect crisp to the layered outside. The Chicken Satay was so different here and yet so savory served with this soft garlic bread. The sauces were so fresh, vibrant and distinct and added to both the appetizers. The peanut sauce had crushed peanuts and was such an accompaniment to texture. For the mains, we had the Chicken Pad Thai and the Braised Beef Short Rib in Penang Curry. The Pad Thai was a great standard and tasty with the crisp sprouts and zesty lime. This Braised Beef Short Rib is where it is at! One of their house specialties- the decadent flavors and textures of this dish is something that will be memorable and just the right touch of spice. Lovely bright orange sweet potatoes and beautiful green beans went so well together with the beef and curry. Looking forward to trying more of their menu and not defaulting to my usual. Warmed up Chicken Pad Thai on the pan over the stove today in a little bit of butter, this was as delicious as it was going to get today. A much needed end of the week girls meet-up…read more Reservations were made and are STRONGLY suggested. A CC is required and you must agree to terms and conditions upon making said reservations. One of those terms is that there is a $25/pp fee for late cancelations or no shows. **Given the rules, I think it would be nice if THEP informs everyone when they book reservations that there is a great likelihood that you will be seated at a communal table.** Upon arrival we were seat when 3 out of the 4 arrived. Yes, we were seated at the communal table, which was off putting initially because we were looking for a more private experience and opportunity to catch up. However, we powered through and made the best of it. Service started off shaky and rushed initially, with incorrect drink orders presented. However once we all settled in things improved. The food was good and the atmosphere was lovely. A few entrée dishes were unavailable and required a little flexibility in the night's taste palate. Overall Thep was enjoyable and I would like to return now that I know what to expect. Just A Note: If a communal table is not ideal I would suggest reaching out directly to the restaurant to see if something can be arranged.
