Will overlook it this time as it was still edible for me, but not Red. I order the pork chops (maybe the third time now) while Red orders the beef Pad Thai. While waiting on the soups I slurp down the spicy broth left behind from the muscles. What a sin that the couple behind us left their muscle broth behind! Finally, the soups arrive. Red gingerly sips her beef broth and I gulp my Sweet and Sour soup. It had a piece of pineapple, mushrooms, okra and grape tomatoes. Tasted every bit as healthy as delicious. The lunch special pork chops arrive with two porkchops, instead of three - which is reflected in the price difference. Perhaps the menu should state the difference. I love this place! It never disappoints. Stopped in for a pho beef soup and a mango roll to go and it was delicious! Phillip, Liz, and Eliza were all super helpful! The staff here is phenomenal! Edgewater has plenty of nice places to grab a bite, and SEAK sits right by the Hudson River with views that make you feel like your food already tastes better. The food was good. Not exceptional, not terrible, just solid American good. And I mean that respectfully. Here is the thing. I have yet to find one place in New York City or New Jersey that can recreate Pad Thai the way it tastes in Thailand. It pains me, because I have been to Thailand and even a street cart out there delivers Pad Thai so good it will change your life and possibly your future plans. I have been chasing that same taste back home, and I think I finally solved the mystery. Every place here adjusts Pad Thai to the taste of the locals. Brooklyn Pad Thai tastes different from Manhattan Pad Thai which tastes different from Edgewater Pad Thai. Everyone is remixing it. Meanwhile I am over here wanting the original track. Upon entering, my partner and I were greeted by the staff and got a table inside a trendy Brooklyn industrial vibe, with the restaurant's modern, eclectic decor and a fabulous view of Upper Manhattan. Outdoor seating is also available during warmer weather. Their Viet-Thai menu features the classic pho, chili-salted chicken wings, pad thai, and banh mi frites. We decided on the Singapore Curry Noodles with Chicken and Pad See Ew with Tofu. The food came out quickly. The portions looked deceptively small, but it was authentic, tastefully delicious, and filling. The service was consistent and attentive. The price was comparable to the area. Our first time going and we were there for lunch on a Tuesday. We love the ambiance and decor of the place. They also offer an outdoor seating but we stayed indoors since it was 90 degrees outside. Our greeter/server, Elizabeth was amazing. She offered best selection on the menu. Very attentive and friendly. We tried 2 appetizers: Vietnamese spring rolls and papaya salad. The spring rolls are quite small but packed with shrimp and vegetables. Delicious! The papaya salad is more of a mix of romaine lettuce and shredded papaya and grape tomatoes. Very light and fresh, subtle taste of fish sauce combined with palm sugar and Thai chili; sweet and slightly spicy. Yum! For the lunch specials, we got the Beef Bo lac lac, Thai basil chicken, lemongrass beef and Vietnamese pork chops. Everything was flavorful. I saw this place had good reviews (thanks Yelp!) so decided to check it out for lunch on a Sunday with my family. It's convenient since I'm always at Trader Joe's (just like everyone other person in Edgewater) and it's in the same shopping center. The restaurant had a lot of indoor/outdoor seating with an outdoor terrace. We ordered the grilled shrimp summer rolls, the banh xeo, the SEAK pho, the Thai eggplant with chicken, and the lemongrass pork chops. The portions were huge, definitely larger than I was expecting. The pork chops really surprised me since even they were gigantic, they were still very juicy and had a strong lemongrass flavor. The other dishes were good too but definitely the pork chops were spectacular. Service was great as well, very fast and friendly. We ordered both the green and red curries and both were very bland and watered down, and the texture of the chicken was extremely questionable and veggies were raw as if not cooked more than a minute in the broth. As a lifelong Thai food enthusiast, I have had Thai food all across major cities from Los Angeles, NYC, Las Vegas, Chicago and even Toronto. Seak undoubtedly has the WORST curries I have ever tried!! We got there one full hour before closing, yet we were not even halfway through our entrées, when the server was clearly rushing to leave and thought it was a good idea to bring out our desserts. Mind you, our desserts contained ice cream and this was in the middle of August heat and humidity. We left incredibly unsatisfied and devastated as we were celebrating a friend's birthday. I mean, 3 large pork chops in 1 order, and no, it did not break the bank. Delicious and flavorful. The mango sticky rice with their own little twist on it, definitely recommend. The pad see ew, pretty traditional but still very good. The mussels came in a Delicious curry, the menu doesn't mention its spicy but it is. Still very good. The food and service is always great here. The green curry and cute little soda bottles are everything. I would recommend this as a nice date spot, just catching up with a friend and even going there with your family when they come to visit. My friend loves drunken noodles. This is my second time at Seak . First time I had their pho so the second time around I wanted something new. I got their Bang Mi and I must say that was the star of the show. Who knew they were so tasty!? Their Banh Mi was crunchy yet soft, I really liked the fact that it was saucy. The presentation was on point! I got the grilled sesame beef and friend got the heritage pork. He preferred the pork which works for me because I enjoyed the beef more! I would definitely come back for that alone. I also ordered their Banh Xeo and was pleasantly surprised! I thought the exterior shell would be crunchy but this one was more soft. Either way I liked it and I would re-order it again. Great Thai food with breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline! Seak is a Thai/Vietnamese restaurant located in Edgewater, NJ with a back deck that extends out over the Hudson River. When we arrived the staff were extremely welcoming and offered us a table with amazing views. For dinner, I ordered the Red Curry Chicken which was delicious. The chicken was very high quality with plenty of thick bamboo shoots, large chunks of red pepper and eggplant. The curry sauce brought just the right amount of spicy goodness. As Thai curry goes, I would rate Seak in the tier I've had in NJ/NY. And the helping at Seak was perfect. A few other nice touches, Seak is BYOB and our waiter went the extra mile to place our beers on ice. The interior of the restaurant is also very clean and modern. On the flip side, my wife's Drunken Noodle was just so so, but we both agree that we should return soon. So I give two thumbs up! read more

I love my Thai food and this was it. I went for lunch. We ate outside and the outside section is by the water (you're facing nyc). The food was so good. We had for starters the mango & avocado summer rolls and beef & avocado summer rolls. Although there were both good the beef was definitely tastier. We had Thai iced teas to drink. I had heard mixed things about SEAK, but when my friend suggested it for a recent lunch, I thought I would give it a shot. First, I loved that it was located in a shopping center with ample parking. Secondly, the place was modern, casual, and inviting with a deck overlooking the Hudson River, which would be perfect for dining on warmer days. The staff was young, but very patient and friendly. I say "patient", because my friend was a bit feisty with them for not having milk (aside from condensed) to add to her tea. Not typically being a tea person myself, I was less concerned about this when I ordered my hot Organic Chai tea; the weather was breezy, and a hot drink was needed. Thankfully, I found the tea spicy, robust, and soothing. My friend asked if I wanted to share an order of the Vietnamese Spring Rolls, and I agreed, confusing these with unfried summer rolls. When they arrived, I was bummed to see just how heavily fried they were. In fact, their shells were more like deep-fried egg rolls than lightly-fried spring rolls. Despite their crunchy exterior, the interior stuffing of chicken, shrimp, taro, carrots, jicama, wood ear mushrooms, and glass noodles was super flavorful! In fact, it had a slight sweetness like a curry. While I liked the appetizer, I was less impressed with my entrée. I had ordered the Thai Basil sautéed dish with steamed tofu, but it arrived with fried bean curd instead. The server brought it back to the kitchen for an update. When the final version appeared, I was turned off by its sauce. First of all, it was a thick brown sauce, though typically Thai basil dishes are lighter and use more chili oil. Secondly, the sauce was not at all spicy, like it was supposed to be, according to the menu, the server, and typical Thai basil meals. Instead, it was bland, thick, and gloopy; it was more like a black bean sauce. Sure the vegetables were fresh, and the steamed tofu was the perfect texture, but the sauce turned me off so much that I could barely finish the dish. It was very disappointing. I typically order noodle dishes at Thai and Vietnamese restaurants, but had wanted to try something different that afternoon, as I was having pasta for dinner that evening. However, I had made a poor decision. I would give SEAK another shot, but would certainly order differently next time. read more

Incredibly delectable! We ordered a few options and shared amongst the table which is perfect for exploring many menu items. We got the chicken wings as an appetizer, drunken noodles with shrimp, seared beef banh mi, and crab fried rice. We really enjoyed everything besides the drunken noodles. They were extremely bland (the reason I gave the review 4 stars not 5). For dessert, we got the fried cheesecake and mango with sticky rice. We loved the fried cheesecake especially the vanilla ice cream that's served with it. The mango sticky rice was plated beautifully but the rice to mango portion was off. There was way too much rice. Giving of an extra star for the service. My pad see ew was a little dry/ bland so I got a little side of peanut sauce to bring home. I'm thinking they may have just missed to add the sauce while cooking? I tried the shrimp pad Thai my mom got and that one was more flavorful. If I'm here next time I will get that dish next. Are you craving Pad See Ew or a steak salad with a nice view?! This restaurant has one of the best Pad See Ew I have ever tasted. If I lived near Edgewater, I would get this every day. It is a minute away from Mitsuwa supermarket and in front of Sojo Spa. The parking can get a bit crazy at times because it is in a shopping center, but if you drive down a bit, there are plenty of parking spots. The walk should not be bad because you are able to view the river. Also, having that walk back to the car after a great meal is recommended. When you first enter the restaurant, they ask you if you want to sit inside or outside with a river view. If the weather is nice, then I would recommend sitting outside. We ordered the Chicken Pad See Ew and the Shaken Beef Watercress Salad. I would recommend asking for hot sauce on the side so you can dip the noodles and meat. I can't believe I didn't give this place a 5 star review in my first post. The experience probably had mostly to do with the service we received then because ever since our new servers gave us their recommendations, we have been ordering the same things and been coming more regularly! Here's what I recommend you get: For appetizers, try the beef summer roll. I was a little skeptical at first about how beef and peanut sauce would taste like together but our server swore by it and I was sold. You will not be disappointed. For banh mi, I used to order the heritage pork banh mi because it was their signature recipe but thanks again to our server, we went with her "absolute favorite" the grilled beef banh mi. The bread does not disappoint, even after reheating in the oven at home. For my entree, I order the special bun vermicelli noodle (this doesn't have broth) or the SEAK pho. You'll never go wrong with their signature pho. The special bun vermicelli noodle has a variety of proteins and sauce on the side for added flavor, or not. I find the lemongrass pork chop here pretty ordinary and I go somewhere else if I'm craving for this dish specifically. read more
