The day of service the company was a head of schedule and they called to get confirmation that it was okay to come early. The two gentlemen, Julian and Jackson were extremely courteous. More service and construction companies should be more like these guys. Straightforward, honest and open with their communication. We had Scott come over and quote us to get our dryer vent system redid in our crawlspace. He did a great job of inspecting the area, taking pictures and letting us know what he recommended. We got a quote and scheduled the appointment. Scott came on time for that appointment with another guy who was very nice (can't remember his name). They got the job done which wasn't easy in under the quoted time which saved us money. Which is really needed in times like this. I am grateful for these guys and recommend them. Support the small local businesses. We actually hired ANOTHER company that did ductwork in Renton and they flaked on us. First guy out was working and left without saying anything to us. Just vanished. And was like pulling teeth to get them to reschedule. They dealt with my fiancé and looking back on it they tried to scam her I think. Price was way more for a simple fix and in my opinion they might have caused the problem themselves when they were alone in my crawlspace. But that is another story. I recommend this company! We bought a house with airways, intake and vents that have never been cleaned. Aurora-Edmonds came out and cleaned them too to bottom. These guys are professional, polite, and super thorough. No thanks. Aurora called on 8:32 the morning they were scheduled to tell me that if I didn't call back the appointment would be skipped. I had been in the middle of my morning routine and preparing for them to show up, quite literally pulling my car our of the garage in preparation for them to work with the furnace. I called back and left a message not more than 5 minutes later leaving my name and telephone number. I called back again 30 minutes later to find that my job had been skipped. The woman on the other end said that it was because I didn't respond to the message on the Friday prior - which I've transcribed: "Hi. This message is for (my name). This is (her name) at Aurora Edmonds Furnace Cleaning. We have an appointment for Monday morning to clean the furnace and vents for you. We will give you a call when we're on our way. If there's a problem with this appointment give us a call back at 425-228-0877" I don't think it's fair that my job was skipped. Their offer to come out later today puts me out of a day of work, the morning which is being cut short by staying home for their missed appointment - the afternoon, which would be cut out by their late visit. Usually, when an appointment is scheduled by a business they show up after a courtesy call. Aurora apparently gives an ultimatum and then doesn't show up. Is this really how you want to treat your customers? You called me to tell me if I didn't call you back, I was being skipped. I called you back and you said you'd come out 6 hours later? It sounds like you double booked your work and you were quite glad to have a reason to pass over my house. read more

I was recently seriously scammed by a vent cleaning company I found on Groupon. My house was covered in find dust after the visit. I almost had to move out of my house. I spent a great deal of time cleaning the dust that was repeatedly settling on all surfaces of my house. I was having problems breathing. If I was going to be able to live in my house without having some persistent respiratory problems, I needed to get a professional company to come and try to do a proper cleaning of my HVAC system. After the first experience It was very important that I find a reputable and capable company to try to undo the damage done by the first guy. I asked people who belonged to the "Nextdoor" community, who had direct experience with a good furnace and vent cleaning company to share their experience. There were approximately 20 responses. Three people responded recommending Aurora-Edmonds Furnace Cleaning company. I called and talked to the owner who very patiently explained what they do and just what was involved in doing a proper cleaning. By the time I called them, I had done a great deal of research on Vent cleaning companies and the real problem with all the scammers. I also watched videos showing how vents should be cleaned. Aurora-Edmonds Furnace Cleaners used the correct equipment including a vert powerful vacuum system that was part of a truck. They closed all the vents and set up the vacuum starting at the furnace located in my attic. They sucked all the debris that was left in my system by the first guy outside and into the truck. After they completed the job, there was no dust falling all over everything in my house. The first guy had a little shop vacuum. He did not seal any of the vents. He did not even go into many of them at all. I was told by Mike, who was the lead guy from Aurora-Edmonds, that the equipment they were using was much more powerful than the pathetic shop vac. They covered all the floors where they were going to place the big hoses they used to vacuum the system. They brought the large vac hose in through a window. AEF protected the window sill with pads before setting up the hose. I had read a review of Aurora-Edmonds that said the vacuum was so outrageously loud. I was worried that I would have problems being around it. I have tinnitus. It turns out it was not all that loud. When they left I was so relieved to find that the air smelled clean. My breathing problems seemed to improve after this cleaning. I had them evaluate the condition of my system as it was left by the scam guy. Mike also took photographs showing the dirt that was inside the furnace and on the fan blades indicating that no one had cleaned the furnace. That should be helpful when I take legal action against the company that ripped me off. I will definitely use Aurora-Edmonds again. They were responsible, trustworthy, efficient, punctual. It was a good experience working with this company. I would suggest that you stay away from deals on Groupon that seem too good to be true. I sure learned that lesson the hard way. read more

In 1969 my house caught on fire, the result of fireworks landing on the cedar shake roof. At the time, The Seattle Times reported that, "the fire spread quickly across the roof, then moved into the attic and through a trapdoor to a closet on the main floor of the brick and wood residence." Thirty-six years later when we moved into the house, some neighbors casually mentioned the fire to us, but we never really had concrete evidence until we began remodeling a bathroom and upon opening the wall found severely charred 2x4's. After moving into the house we noticed over time that my wife seemed to be suffering from some respiratory irritation, the symptoms of which were almost allergy like--sneezing, runny nose, eye irritation, etc. Trying to get to the bottom of these issues, I decided to have Aurora Edmonds come and vacuum out our ducts. On the day of our appointment the crew from Aurora Edmonds arrived in their truck with the vacuum system mounted to the back. According to their website, these systems can move over 10,000 cubic feet per minute of air -- more than 100 shop vacuums. When the system is operational it's quite a sight, with the truck powering huge volumes of air through the vacuum filters which are popped out along the top like giant inflatable duffle bags. The guys that worked our job were professional and courteous. They scouted out where all of the ducts were throughout our house and systematically covered each one with a barrier to create the strongest suction throughout the system. In time each duct cover was removed and the system vacuumed from that source. They were particularly careful to clean up after themselves when finished in a room. The entire operation was efficient and meticulous and probably took around an hour. After the cleaning, the change in air quality in our house was immediately noticeable and my wife instantly felt better. I was relating what a difference having the ducts cleaned made in the air quality to some neighbors who were mystified by the anecdote. They have been in their house for decades and it had never once occurred to them to have the ducts cleaned. As it turns out, that may be OK. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states , "Duct cleaning has never been shown to actually prevent health problems. Neither do studies conclusively demonstrate that particle (e.g., dust) levels in homes increase because of dirty air ducts. This is because much of the dirt in air ducts adheres to duct surfaces and does not necessarily enter the living space" (http://1.usa.gov/X93oWc). Still the EPA does provide some guidance as to when it may make sense to have your ducts cleaned including, "Ducts are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris..." which was clearly the case in our situation. Aurora Edmonds recommended that we have the ducts cleaned every 2-3 years. Despite the fact that we have cats, there's pollen in the air, etc. that recommendation seems overkill to me. I think every five years or more would be perfectly adequate. Then again, if the allergy-like symptoms return, that would be a good sign that it's time as well. read more

Was a bit concerned about getting my ducts cleaned because of all the stories about scams and up charges and just all the bad publicity most of these companies are getting. So I put it off for soooooooo many years. I've lived in my house for 12 years and it was built in 1958. There has always been lots of dust circulating through the house and I just couldn't dust and vacuum enough to make any difference. There was always a mustiness to the house too. Even though I had removed all the carpeting years ago. I have dogs and always thought they were the culprits. (They are in part, but not the whole problem) Pretty sure the ducts had never been cleaned in the almost 60 years the house has been standing. I had my furnace serviced and the dude tapped one of my ducts in the attic which caused big chunks of black fuzzy dusty crap to fall out of the vents. I knew it was time to get the ducts cleaned. He didn't do a before an after shot, but I could hear all the crap going through. Wish they had a see through tube or maybe just a section so I could watch the junk that I've been breathing in all these years. He did take a photo inside my ducts to show me the after. It revealed nasty nicotine stains throughout. Yuk!!!! And he happened to see something down a duct close to the furnace that looked to be foreign and melting/burning down the wall of the duct when it got heated up. There has always been a burning smell every time we start the furnace. He took the time and effort to remove the foreign object from the furnace for me! It proved to be a little more difficult than he anticipated and took extra effort and time. But he didn't just leave it and so "oh well". So very grateful!!! My house now has a cleanness to it that it has never had before. And there is no more burning crap every time the furnace kicks on. My son and I used to wake up phlegmy and sneeze a lot in the house. Not anymore. There is definitely a difference in the quality and depth of breath that we can now breath. My furnace is running so dang efficiently too, it's hot when just setting the temp to 68! We've never lived in a house with a furnace before and this 1948 house hasn't really been taken care of, so we called AEF (on a recommendation of our contractor). They cleaned the whole system, determined which electrical parts have failed and came back with a solid fix and finished within a few hours. They were very careful to make sure there were drop cloths down everywhere the vacuum hose laid on the floor in the house and were very conscientious to leave the house cleaner than they found it. The company I work for needed a duct cleaning so I've spent most of my day calling about 20 different businesses with varying results. The majority of people I spoke with were not too friendly or helpful and the ones that were ok were booked out about a month or didn't service the Puyallup area. The technician was good. He didn't close the door to the fan all the way, which wasn't good...sucking in air from the unfinished basement and introducing it into the main floor. He also didn't scrub the ducts, as they did before with the previous owner. They just used compressed air. I called to discuss this, and the owner gave me the most bizarre response that made no sense, and was making me wrong for their mistake. I felt like I was being bullied, and was not at all heard nor were my concerns addressed. This is not the same company as it was a few years back, and although the technician seemed good, except for the mistake, the customer service was terrible. I looked around a bit before selecting these guys for our furnace and duct cleaning. They showed up in a truck mounted vacuum unit, in uniform with clean tools, took their shoes off when moving around the house, cleaned up after themselves and were happy to explain what they were doing. I could see the results by poking my head down the ducts after they left. Great job guys... we will hire you again. Please note that I got coupons for other guys to do this service for way cheaper but after looking online I saw numerous consumer complaints about upsells and shoddy service. Buyer beware of 29.95 specials... you get what you pay for. There is no way you are going to get a reputable business to come do a proper cleaning for 30 bucks. Just hire the right company from the start. Total charge for our furnace, duct work and 17 registers was 326.31 and worth every penny! Considering the ducts only need service every few years this is a great price. Of course we have our furnace serviced annually. read more

They vacuumed our ducts and the tech was very friendly and professional. We recently purchased this house, and the pre-purchase inspection found that our current dryer duct is too long, out of current code, and dangerous! Instead of spending the money to clean it, the tech designed, engineered, and installed a new dyer duct that is safer and up to code. He really went above and beyond our expectations. SO LOUD. If you hire this company, be prepared to be in another state when they come. Their equipment exceeds the city of Seattle's 85 db limit, so they get ticketed often.
