the food here is delicious it definitely makes up for the creaky sticky chairs in the restaurant but it's definitely a small vibe Alaskan restaurant. The pannage curry (What I belief it was called) was deliciously creamy and thick. It was based with peanuts and coconut milk. If you don't like peanuts sauce then you will not like this because it taste exactly like that. Personally I would have liked more chicken in the curry because there was only a few pieces. Very nice little place to eat. Warm staff who serve delicious pad thai that is super hot and ready to be devoured. The interior was nice and clean, even kinda fancy with the white table cloths. It turned out to be a great place to go for and date. My husband enjoyed a thai chicken salad - #13 on the menu (I cant remember its name). He got it with medium spice which really complimented the salad. I had the tofu pad thai - mild - and even my hubby was stealing the tofu off my plate (he normally doesn't like tofu). Stepped off the plane from anchorage and needed to eat something as I didn't have breakfast this morning. Most places are closed, however this place was not and has good reviews. Now I know why it has good reviews. Very good little restaurant. Our service was great and she saved us from ordering a dish too spicy. I love spicy food but had I ordered the level 3 spice it would have been too hot to finish. When they say spicy it's no joke! The service was also very quick, we placed our order and it was at the table in about 5 minutes or so. We started with the fried veggies appetizer and it was good. Came with a sweet sauce. I ordered the coconut shrimp soup last night and all I received was a bowl full of mushrooms. I called the restaurant and they didn't offer me anything except to drive back over there and pick up another soup which I had DoorDash deliver for me. Since the vendor would not give me a refund, they said I had to contact DoorDash. I contacted DoorDash, and they also declined to give me a refund for for my soup that I paid $31 for and did not receive the soup. So I am out $31 and no soup, I wish I could include a picture in here very bad business, beware unless you have money to throw away. read more

It was such a cold day when I came in, and I was craving hot soup. I basically love anything Thai so I was excited to try this spot. I sat at a corner table and placed an order for Sidewalk Soup with shrimp. As I began looking around, especially the wall and window I was sitting close to, I noticed lots of old grime. Dirty cobwebs in the cracks and corners and a layer of dust that looked like it'd been there a very long time. This put my appetite off a little. As far as ambiance, I noticed that there was music coming from the kitchen radio for the staff, but there was no music for the restaurant guests to enjoy. When the soup came, it looked acceptable. It was steaming hot and tasted pretty decent. The shrimp were a good size and not over cooked. For Thai food, I'd say it was tolerable, but not outstanding. The sizes were average to small, and the atmosphere of the place needs improvement (at least a deep clean). For the college-town area of Fairbanks, I'd recommend Lemongrass for Thai food over Pad Thai Restaurant. read more

Fish sauce in everything! I ordered Mock Duck Red Curry. I've never heard of anything like this, but was told it can be made without fish sauce. The staff is knowledgable. My dish included- soy duck (what?), canned pineapple, canned peas, canned bamboo shoots, a few pieces of bell pepper, and chunks of fresh tomato in red curry sauce with white rice on the side. The flavor was good, and I added crushed red pepper for a needed spice. Rice is not included in the meal price, big down side, how can you eat curry without rice? My total cost was $15.45. The curry isn't as sweet and thick as I find it to be at Lemongrass which is nice because it doesn't sit heavy in your stomach. The drunken noodle dish is delicious every time.
