While visiting Fairbanks, AK, we decided to try KC's Kitchen and overall we had a really good experience. The restaurant ambiance is very simple and nothing fancy, but it is spacious and comfortable. When we first arrived it was not very busy, but by the time we left it had filled up. We also noticed lots of pickup orders, which says a lot about its popularity. The food was good overall, with several dishes that stood out. For appetizers we ordered the potstickers, which were just okay and not very memorable. The calamari was unique and came in a rectangular shape, almost like mozzarella sticks. I had never seen calamari served that way before, but they were actually good. The fried chicken wings were a highlight, hot, crispy, and very enjoyable. The ranch was delicious and tasted homemade with herbs. For our main dishes the beef bulgogi came out on a sizzling plate and was very flavorful. The chicken katsu was nicely crispy with good seasoning, and the short ribs were also served sizzling with a yummy, almost teriyaki style sauce that we really enjoyed. The orange chicken with rice was good, though fairly standard. One dish that pleasantly surprised me was the japchae. It was my first time trying it and I loved the glass noodles and how fresh the vegetables tasted. Overall KC's Kitchen offers solid, comforting food with several standout dishes. While not everything was a wow, we left satisfied and would definitely come back if we are in Fairbanks again. read more

There are few Korean restaurants in Fairbanks and I have gone to two of them - once. I had not gone to KC's but finally did so. The Kalbi was incredible. I'd ask them to not cook it so well done but regardless of that it was excellent. The calamari was OK. Pretty good even compared to what we often get but could have used soaking in milk longer to soften it. The kimchi was really good. Having lived in Korea for a bit I rarely eat kimchi in the states but this tasted like it did not come from a jar and they said they did make their one. Fanastic. The yakimandu was in a different form than I most often see in Korea which is a triangle which I prefer for the added crunchiness but the flavor was excellent as was the dipping sauce. My friend had one of the soup bowls. The meat looked...grey...probably never seared so bad on that but he didn't complain. The Kalbi is not cheap and my bill came to $87 with a tip it went over $100 but you can get out for much less you don't order two sides and the Kalbi and pay for your friend :) . I highly recommend KC's to any lovers of Korean food. read more

We ordered galbi, jajangmyeon, kimchi jiggae and their fried chicken. Loved everything except for the jajangmyeon. It was my first time trying it and not really sure about the taste. I liked the chewiness of the noodles but I will not order it again. Probably, will try it again where it originated. Kimchi jiggae was perfect and others were savory. Looks like this place was really popular in Alaska as it was almost full before we left. Will definitely recommend it. Service was good. read more

The simple interior and standalone building hide what is surprisingly decent Korean food. Service is solid and portions are ample, too. Galbi is not the highest quality (don't expect it to compare to the best in k-town in Los Angeles, for example) but it's legit, and the haemul pajeon (seafood pancake) is a full big plate portion. Cucumer kimchi is not quite the style I like but it's close enough, and overall left quite pleased. read more

I would want to actually give this place 4.5 stars if I could. The only issue I had was that the chicken ramen with egg dish looks like they use instant ramen noodles. The flavors were still good, though. The mandu dumplings were amazing. I would order them again! My husband ordered the beef and veggies dish, and my son ordered the beef bulgogi. Both were good. The bulgogi came to the table sizzling. It's our last day in Alaska, but when we come back to visit again, we would definitely be back here read more

The moment you walked in, you know you're in an Asian restaurant with the smell of spice. The waitress was super nice and patient with us. She's the only one there but able to refill our water, grab utensils for us, and extra napkins/plates. I'm surprised to find pho at a Korean restaurant so ordered it to try and it was amazing. The broth was slightly on the saltier side but great flavor and not too heavy. It came with meatballs, beef slices, cilantro, and fries garlic. The fried chicken wings were good. Although fried but it's not greasy at all. The sauces looked homemade. We got buffalo and ranch where the buffalo sauce was too vinegary for me. The bulgogi flavor was good but the beef were overcooked and break into small pieces instead of beef slices. read more

Who would have thought Korean in Fairbanks would be so awesome? We are in town for a couple days and dining options are interesting (you probably know that by now). When you use the recommendations and drive up, do not let the divey exterior or lack of cars (if there is) deter you! There is magic happening inside this little place! My husband and I found this gem at lunch time so only a couple patrons when we arrived, but we stuck around and got the beef bulgogi and the hot stone pot bibimbap. Both are amazing! The description on the bibimbap fails to mention the protein so we got the bulgogi and planned to mix and share. There was a nice portion of beef on the bibimbap, and it came out sizzling! It was still too hot to touch the stone pot and the end of our meal, it must be sitting in the oven all day, well done! I am thrilled we found this wonderful lunch spot in Fairbanks, we went back to Airbnb with enough for a late dinner before our aurora hunt later tonight. read more

KC's is a no frills Asian fusion restaurant with a distinct Korean flair. We ate mid-afternoon and they were under-staffed, so service was somewhat slow. We weren't in a rush, so not a big deal. The manager (I think) acted as our waitress; she was very pleasant and gave us lots of advice about sightseeing in the Fairbanks area. Went in not knowing what I wanted. I asked for a recommendation and she didn't skip a beat. Kalbi she responded. I agreed and it was the best choice I've made in a long time. Out came a pile of the best ribs I had ever tasted. The amount looked like too much for one person. When I said so she quipped "you'll finish it". And finish it I did. I went to KC's Kitchen for lunch. I was planning on taking out and only ordering the Crab Rangoon but once I got in there, I felt silly for just getting an app. I was seating kind of in the middle of the restaurant - right in front of the counter. I felt kind of silly sitting at a 4-top table by myself but noticed that there's only 4-top tables. Perhaps seating me on the other side by the window would've been a bit more comfortable but it was ok none-the-less. I did end up starting with the Crab Rangoon as I'd seen somewhere that they were the best they'd ever had. I also decided, that since I was there, I would get the Beef Bulgogi and just take some home for dinner. My soda was served cold in a can with a glass of ice which was fine. The Crab Rangoon came out piping hot. I let them sit for a minute so that I wouldn't scorch myself but it was only a minute - I couldn't stand it. The golden brown triangles were screaming at me. I took a tiny bite of the first one and got a hit of sweet. The memory in my head said "donut". I was confused. I took another bite and still sweet. I thought maybe the dipping sauce was super sweet. I dunked and it was more tart than sweet. I licked one, thinking maybe there was powdered sugar on them but it was not sweet. The filling was sweet as if sweet (maybe honey?) cream cheese was used. It wasn't what I was expecting. They'd be great for dessert as odd as that seems. The Bulgogi came out on a sizzling platter and placed in front of me along with a small bowl of dense rice and a side salad with a squeeze bottle of ranch dressing. I wasn't sure why the side salad but turns out it went really well with the dish. I found the beef to be overly stringy but the overall taste was good. I finished the Crab Rangoon thinking that they probably wouldn't heat as well as the Bulgogi and took half or more of the Bulgogi home for dinner. It was good, just a bit tough to eat. read more

We have been here quite a few times now and everything that we have tried has been excellent. My favorite is the spicy pork. It's the best in town. Great flavor, the meat is sliced thin, and not too fatty like some other places. They also have pan fried udon noodles (Yakiudon) that are not on the menu. Another excellent dish. Absolutely amazing flavors! We ordered the General Tso and the Beef Pho, both were delicious. the General Tso had the perfect balance of spice, best in town! the Pho was light, delicate, and flavorful. First time at KC's Kitchen today, I think they've only been officially open for about a week. We got the Kalbi Short Ribs, the Beef Pho, Eggrolls, dumplings, and Thai Iced Tea. The short ribs were incredible, coming out perfectly done and sizzling hot on a cast iron pan with a small container of rice. The Pho was also fantastic and came in a very big bowl (we ended up bringing half of it home to finish tomorrow) . This place is definitely worth checking out, with reasonable prices, great food, great service, and good portion sizes. read more
