After a full day of taking my visiting relatives of tours of the area we stopped at Aurora Sausalito with the hopes of pleasing everyone's tastes. We were greeted pleasantly by the main server. Everyone found something they would like. Two of my nieces enjoyed a chicken ravioli - they agreed it was delicious. One of my daughters had Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and the other had Papperadelle with bolognese- they both really enjoyed their entrees. I had the lasagna which was a special of the day. I wouldn't normally order such a basic dish but the lasagna noodles were homemade so decided to give it a try. It was good as far as a meat and cheese lasagna goes but it wasn't very special. It would be a good safe dish for someone who isn't adventurous. Overall service was attentive and friendly and food was fresh and delicious. I'd definitely try it again. read more

Nice facilities, too. I enjoyed the cioppino (off menu) with salmon (sadly, farm raised I'm sure), clams, mussels, and prawns with slices of toast. I asked for some soft bread and it arrived with a very delicious olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Ordered Bocelli pinot grigio. All was great. I'd return and try different offerings. Beware of parking, because the streets are so tiny I was lucky that there was one spot left to park in their park let but the driveway for it was so steep. Our waiter/host/ everything because he was basically the one man band for this place was very nice. He was definitely a busy man. Food: -beef carpaccio- I'm still thinking about it till this day. It was amazing and I don't usually like arugula but somehow I enjoyed every bite of this dish 10/10 -carbonara- I was disappointed when it came out over cooked, the pasta was mushy and wished they used guanciale instead of pancetta esp at these prices. 6/10 -smoked salmon pizza- this was definitely a surprise I really liked how the flavors worked with one another 9/10 -bread pudding- this was the star of the show we loved it so much we wish we had another bit at that point the kitchen had already closed this was phenomenal 10/10 -bread- the bread they give you was warm but definitely burnt because they heated it up in the oven before serving (which is a nice touch) Prices were quite steep for most items like the ice cream was 10$, there's no way store bought ice cream should be 10$ especially when you're going to be getting one scoop, two at the most. read more

Very charming place with excellent dishes. Took my mom here after a day at Oracle Park/Giants game. We both loved our apps and meals, and we're Italian so not pushovers when it comes to Italian cuisine. Everything was prepared wonderfully, and we ate at a casual pace. We've been a fan of the Novato Aurora for some years, so we thought we'd try their sister cafe in Sausalito and enjoy the views from there. They have indoor dining again, but since it was a beautiful evening we watched the sunset from the patio seating. The waiter was excellent, service was impeccable and yet not intrusive. The waiter noticed we brought a bottle of wine and approached us with a corkscrew and wine glasses - right on. We had carpaccio and caprese salad for starters. The beef was seasoned beautifully, and the fresh basil made the caprese mouth watering - perfectly firm tomatoes and the cheese was very fresh. My wife had the petrale sole, and I opted for the house ravioli in meat sauce - and glad I did. the sole came with creamy garlicy mashed potatoes, and the ravioli were buried in this incredible bolognese, i ended up using the bread to sop up every last bit of it! So, great service, great food, good prices, nice atmosphere - totally a five star experience... the only warning is that this is a fairly busy street, and although we didn't mind the traffic some diners might want to be inside to lower the volume a bit. Sisters and I came here on a cold, windy Saturday night and almost didn't want to sit from being so cold. But we waited for the the table with the fire heater to open up and so glad we did! Service was great, food was amazing. Cioppino is a MUST! They gave so much seafood and the soup was just super flavorful and addicting. It was an amazing meal after our hike. Great little spot in sausalito away from all the tourists area. I always drive by this place on the way back to SF when im in Sausalito and every time i tell my self i need to try this place. Risk crying yourself to sleep if someone at your table orders the cioppino and you don't. It is THAT delicious. I order that dish anytime I see it on the menu, and I can say with confidence that Aurora makes one of the best. The chunks of salmon are so tender that they literally melt in your mouth! If you don't see the cioppino on the their menu that day, don't despair. Sometimes it's off the menu but they can still make it for you. Superb service, too, by the way! read more

Wow this was amazing. A mom and pop restaurant totally worth the drive! We are vacationing in Marin and decided to try this restaurant. We went around 5pm on a Friday night and expected it to be packed but we were seated right away. We received complimentary bread and waters right away. Our waiter was very pleasant and didn't even have to write down our order! (As someone with a horrible memory, this always impresses me) For dinner we ordered the bruschetta, Aurora salad, Ravioli al formaggio (spinach and cheese), and ravioli di Aurora (meat ravioli). The bruschetta was amazing, they went a little heavy on the oil, but other than that it was great-- so good that I had to eat one before taking the picture! The raviolis were also very good. Again, a little too much sauce but I didn't mind because it tasted great on the bread! These raviolis were definitely authentic and homemade. The food was so good that we just had to order dessert... 90% of the items on the dessert menu were labeled as "homemade"! We ordered Aurora's Brûlée (creme brûlée), torta al cioccolato, and apple pie. The creme brûlée was to die for and the chocolate tart was so so good as well. It was so rich that I could only have a few bites! Glad we shared the desserts! The chocolate tart and apple pie came with gelato and it was also amazing. The apple pie itself was just fine. The service was amazing, they checked on us multiple times while eating and our water was always kept full. They even held the door open for us as we left! (It's the little things that add up!) Playing Tourist today, I opened my app and found Aurora had availability for my party size... it was a nice half mile walk from Sausalito's main shopping area. Perched up on the street with a slight incline this restaurant sits on a corner. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Mediocre size restaurant with a bar and tv as a fixture on the back wall. 1 star The food was ok. Considering it took over 30 minutes just to get the appetizers. Calamari was tasteless and the sauce it comes with is definitely needed. You'll get the squid texture but absolutely no flavor. The cheese bread could have used more cheese (you'll see in the picture how scarce it was. The eggplant parmigiana was outstandingly the best. And why they're getting the second star. Pizzas were good, nothing mind blowing about the sauces. Service on the other hand....the serve staff definitely requires more training. Not efficient at all. Not attentive by any means. Indoor mask mandates kicked Off again this week, only one of The two servers have a mask on. We were there an entire 30 minutes before appetizers came out and 10 minutes later the main dishes were served. I sat at the end with a good clearing from the bar but got my chair kicked twice as our sever cornered the turn, he said Nothing. Not a repeat restaurant. Very casual and homey neighborhood Italian restaurant in Sausalito. The location is on the outskirts of the downtown area, so parking was relatively easy. They also have a few designed spots reserved for restaurant diners. We ordered the eggplant appetizer and the mushroom pizza between two people for lunch. The eggplant appetizer surprised me -- didn't think I would like the sharp cheese used in it, but it somehow worked!! Would order this again. The mushroom pizza was pretty solid as well, but nothing crazy. These 2 items were the perfect amount for us as we were about to go on an afternoon hike. There weren't too many people at the restaurant when we were there, but the service was still pretty slow. We weren't in a rush so it was actually kind of nice to slowly enjoy the food. If I want food asap, I would go elsewhere for a quick bite. read more

This was probably the worst dining experience of our 6 years in the Bay Area. We were made to sit outside because of our service animal. It took 20 minutes for a server to speak to us though we had a reservation. The server came back to double check our order and still did not bring out the correct order. A gem of a restaurant at the south end of Sausalito. I've eaten at all the restaurants in town, and have forgotten about Aurora since I never drive by. Since December we've been back four times. Yes, it's that good. Thursday night they have a guitar player singing Brazilian songs. What a treat. The main courses are served with perfectly cooked veggies, mashed potatoes, and bread served at no charge. We've had the fish, eggplant and chicken parmigiana, and pasta dishes (which do not include vegetables). But you get a plate full of pasta. Great wait service too.
