On our first full day in Corte Madera, we found ourselves wandering through Larkspur. The restaurant we originally were going to dine at for lunch was closed for construction, so during our stroll through town we were enthusiastically welcomed into Tavola Rustica by the owner. After being seated in the open air area, we clinked our delicious bellini and mimosa to this new adventure. It wasn't long before we received our orders, even though the restaurant was quite busy. It seemed to be the place where the locals go. We opted to split the Porcini Ravioli and Speck Pizza...everything was mouthwateringly incredible. We are so thrilled to have stumbled upon this gem!

After hiking with my family and dog, the charming host whisked us away to the patio once he said dogs were welcome. The restaurant was adorable, with Frank Sinatra playing in the patio and indoors to make the meal more memorable. The patio was gorgeous, overlooking the iconic larkspur street, with gorgeous flowers and landscaping. We ordered the calamari, green goddess salad, Margherita pizza with Calabrian chili, and oxtail ragu pappardelle pasta. Everything was outstanding, most notably the pasta and pizza. The service made our meal more magical. My experience at Tavola Rustica was a special meal that I got to share with my dog and loved ones. I can't wait to come back.

First time at Tavola Rustica and it couldn't have been better ~ even on a rainy day. It was cozy in the best way, and I loved that they had blankets offered on all the chairs. Such a thoughtful touch! The service was impeccable from the moment we walked in. Attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming. The food was perfection. We did a make-your-own pizza and the speck pizza ~ both were incredible. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Next time I definitely want to sit out on the deck (hopefully with sunshine). Such a great place. We'll absolutely be back.

We were delighted to experience this new restaurant in Marin, which is Tavola Rustica's second location. We ordered the meatballs, soup of the day (lentil soup), pappardelle oxtail ragu. And for dessert, we ordered the affogato. All were fantastic! The pappardelle oxtail ragu was especially our favorite. You can definitely tell that the pasta is homemade. The oxtail ragu is braised and simmered for 6 hours. It made for a hearty, savory, and rich beef sauce. Concluding our meal with the affogato was the perfect sweet treat. Thank you for a delicious meal to celebrate Valentine's Day! We will definitely be back soon!

The food! Fried olives and focaccia to start. Several folks ordered the bolognese and seemed to enjoy it thoroughly. I got the breakfast pizza. I wish there were at least two eggs...I guess eggs are pricey! lol! But the crust was very good and a good size for sharing. The ice cream is apparently very interesting with a chewy texture. I didn't have any as I'm lactose intolerant but again, the group ate all of it up. I enjoyed the limoncello cake. Definitely order that! Tiramisu was ok. In a cup vs cake. Good for groups! We had a large group celebrating a birthday. We sat at a long table in the front porch/area. They have heaters in case you get cold. Service was great. Very prompt and never had to ask for water refill or anything.

TL:DR - neighborhood gem Service - prompt, friendly and efficient Parking - popular area. Get here late and you will be hunting for a spot. Likely walking when you do find a spot Ambiance - laid back vide. Front area has great space heaters Food - awesome! Food is on point and so satisfying. Carpaccio - delicious. Great starter Orchiette with sausage - wow. Delicious dish Pappardelle with oxtail ragu - so rich and savory. Loved every bite. Limoncello cake - great way to finish. Yum

Saturday is happening at Tavola Rustica and I'm so glad I made reservations. Our party of 5 enjoyed a variety of dishes from pizza to pasta to meat and fish. All were delicious. Also, upon request complimentary bread is served. We had one snafu with the delay of serving the branzino but they have comped it for the trouble. That was a nice gesture. I will be back to try other dishes. Parking can be tricky especially when there's mass at the nearby Church.

I need to spend more time in Downtown Larkspur. Unlike Sausalito and now Tiburon that is often overrun with tourists during the summer, Larkspur is still quiet enough with a nice blend of locals and non-locals. Returned for brunch down the street and stayed for dinner. Octopus carpaccio was a light refreshing starter while their mortadella artisanal pizza topped with the combination of burrata, pistachio, and arugula reminded me of something I would find in Puglia and enough for sharing. Who can resist a whole branzino for the main, just don't forget to request their complimentary focaccia that is as good as the rest of the meal. Their covered outdoor patio is perfect for people watching and a nice breeze.

I didn't realize that we had eaten here before. Wasn't very hungry so I shared the meatballs and mussels. It was more than enough. The salad was very good. The service was good and the restaurant was cute. We like this area.

    Bread

Got the salmon pasta it was good the bread was way too salty was really gross probably the most saltiest bread ever tried

Nice restaurant. Parking can be difficult but the food is pretty good. Pasta was tasty I loved the seafood in it. Complimentary bread was mid but branzino was nice and fresh.

Very bland food... we were hoping for authentic Italian food since this Italian restaurant is #1 in Marin County on Yelp, but our experience with the food was the complete opposite. The servers were great, but food was lacking in flavor. Lamb was hard and tasteless and bolognese was very plain tasting- nothing special. Amici's the chain restaurant could've done better. My advice is to save your money and find another restaurant worth the hype. We ended up walking down the street for better food.

We had Crostini with a roasted tomato spread, and some olives, it was very underwhelming. The olives had pits in them; they were not a spread. The roasted tomatoes in olive oil were flavorless. I thought the olives would be like a tapenade to spread on the bread. We both had pear salads, which sounded wonderful, but I thought the pears would be thinly sliced perhaps crisp Asian pears, but, they were cooked with a sweet sauce and soft, and then serve served with very sweet red grapes and a sweet pomegranate dressing and sweet candied pecans, even though it was on a bed of Frisse, the salad was too sweet. It was served with a couple little tiny pieces of Gorgonzola cheese that was so soft that I couldn't divide it up to eat it with the rest of the salad, that would've been a better spread for the bread! I had grilled mixed seafood misto that had been fried very lightly.. The swordfish was overcooked and dry and flavorless.. The shrimp and scallops were cooked fine. The salmon was a tiny little piece with a lot of fat streaks in it. The wedges of Yukon gold potatoes were roasted, but were drenched with olive oil. I could only eat the scallops and shrimp. The carrots were so al dente when my husband went to cut them they slid off his plate, I had to nibble on them by hand by the green tips. For dessert, my husband ordered spumoni which was sliced ice cream and very thin slices. Kind of like a bombe. The flavor was really great, but there really wasn't enough to share. I was very disappointed with the food quality and for the price of the wine-- it was marginal. It may have been better it I was served the wine that I ordered. All of this for $200 before tip. Not worth the price. The music was loud, it was set for the staff, I think, not older patrons and families--the ambience just wasn't nice or calm or celebratory for mothers. No special flower was handed out, not a dessert, not a glass of wine, not anything special for Mom. Oh yes, my husband's "special" fillet of sole was dry and was served on the skin. Not good. I was just so disappointed, it was supposed to have been the highlight of my day since my son lives far away, it wasn't.

It has an interesting entrance layout where you have to walk all the way past the bar just to get to the host podium to check in. Once we were seated, we had a great server who was incredibly patient while we decided on our meals. They easily accommodated adjustments to my wife's order when she asked to swap out a creamy sauce for a marinara. We started with the arugula salad, which was delicious and loaded with roasted beets, gorgonzola, glazed walnuts, and a sharp balsamic vinaigrette. For our mains, we went with the Capellini del Diavolo and the Fettuccine Viareggio. Both dishes were absolutely amazing and hit the spot. The restaurant filled up incredibly fast for a Thursday night. If you are catching a show nearby, I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time.

Picco blends the best of California with locally sourced and fresh produce with classic and modern takes on Italian dining. They are also Michelin recognized, as they've been Bib Gourmand winners ('21-23) in the past, and are currently "Recommended." The Good: * Reservations via OpenTable * Free street and City-owned lots available but there are time limitations, so check the signage. * They also run a pizzeria (Pizzeria Picco) literally right next door if you'd rather have a pie than pasta. * Outdoor dog-friendly seating * Waitstaff was fantastic and friendly. * Also has a bar if you just want to come in for a drink or three. * Local brews on tap, as well as a full oeuvre of alcoholic beverages. * They're known for their changing seasonal risotto, and after one bite, it was easy to see why! It was simply fantastic, as the rice was cooked perfectly and the fresh spring flavors in ours shone. * Carissa loved her King Salmon and veggies, as the fish was cooked perfectly. I ordered a daily special with house-made pappardelle noodles and smoked beef short ribs, and while it looked like a hot mess, it was fantastic. The noodles were thick and held up well to the assertive smoke and flavor of the beef--just a perfect dish in my opinion.. The Meh: * The Polenta-Crusted Artichoke Hearts appetizer was just OK. I liked the crunch and how they tried to present them as chicken wings, but they ate a little dry and the coating needed more seasoning. Fortunately, their concomitant aioli was able to save the day. The Ugly: * Not the biggest restaurant, and with the brick walls, it can get raucous in there fairly easily, especially if a large post-wedding party shows up to the bar to get sauced. Conclusion: Fantastic spot for a date night or any other occasion with great ambiance, service, and, most importantly, food. Highly recommended.
