Just learned the YMCA is raising their rates... if you want to use the e-gym you now have to pay an additional $20, this is ridiculous.

So I took Code Pink's mantra: "Even if your not in shape you can do Code Pink Boot Camp!" to heart…read more I have slowly been packing on the pounds the last couple years and wanted to get back into a workout routine. Now let me be clear, other than the occasional dog walk I was not working out. I was a total slacker. However, I had NO existing injuries (not an ache or twinge). I was just lazy. OK, got it? Then here you go! I start Code Pink with wild anticipation. It was over at a country club in east Aurora and the first few meet ups were in the ballroom (it was freezing outside). The work out was all about girl power. Lots of nice people and a great trainer (Cindy). The first week majorly kicked my butt. While this is what I wanted, I was surprised at how high impact the work out was and how many exercises I was having trouble with and needing to modify. Still, I was pumped and ready to power through! The second week, we were outside. This is the week that broke me. If you can not run up and down stairs and steep hills and do quick movements in obstacle courses you are gonna have a hard time at Code Pink. One workout we did so many stairs/hills/obstacles I literally almost couldn't walk to the car (seriously). I came back a couple days later still really sore and Cindy suggested I modify a little. I did and was actually in so much pain I couldn't do even some of the modified stuff. Long story short? I got over use injuries in both knees. I didn't blow them out, but the doc said I did WAY too much WAY too fast. So here is my dilemma. If I was in better shape, Code Pink would have been a great way to kick it up a notch and add variety. However, me being in horrible shape actually caused injury. So I think they need a BIG FAT warning (pun intended) and people really need to know this isn't a one size fit all kind of program. So I am giving it 3 stars - it maybe be for some, but definitely not for everyone!! Some other notes about the program if you do it: - Legs are worked EVERY workout, that means: Squats, lunges, sprints, hills, stairs and an obstacle course - some of these are HIGH IMPACT (so know if your body can handle that). - When they say bring a PADDED mat they mean it! Sometimes they have you laying on a cement tennis court and a yoga mat just won't do! - I wore a body bugg armband and my average caloric burn was 500 calories give or take for the hour. I was kind of surprised it wasn't more, but this workout is more about variety than overall burn. I would recommend Code Pink only to those who have at least a moderate exercise regime already in place. It really isn't for everyone.

Terrible, abysmal, maddeningly slow and completely unapologetic customer service. I purchased a…read moreLiving Social deal, but when I tried to redeem it I could not get a response from anyone at Code pink for days. When it seemed like everything had been figured out and I asked for confirmation of my reservation, I never received a reply. I finally got a refund from Living Social. Have no idea what the training is like, which I had been looking forward to as a jump start to my routine. Bummer.

I have been a member of this gym since April, 2017…read more I mainly do the Yoga classes and I love them. They have teachers that have been with the club since I started, very low turnover of teachers, which I love. Obviously if I have been with them for going on 6 years now, they have to be good or I would find somewhere else to go. I'm bad at names, but I have seen a lot of the same faces at the front desk and in management for a very long time.

They let us sign up two weeks ago, contract and all, then send out a notice that they are closing…read morethe gym two days after the notice. Tried to let them know we want to cancel, since they are funneling all current members into the nearby YMCA. (Isn't 24/7, is small, doesn't have similar equipment, doesn't have a hot tub, doesn't have a sauna, doesn't have massage bed/chair) We were told essentially too bad, we were provided a gym 1 mile away "of greater value". (Who is the greater value deemed by?) I work rotating shift work & the 24/7 accessibility was the main reason I signed up for this gym. Apparently the company did the same shady thing in FOCO with the location there. Shame, was really excited and the 4 or 5 times we went I had some good workouts. Hoping they at the very least remove the bi-annual gym enhancement fee they are holding us to. Ya know... considering there is no gym to enhance... Avoiding zone athletic in the future for sure and letting anyone I know looking for a gym to look elsewhere. If they correct this shady business practice I will amend this review, but this is so dishonest and crooked to have done this.

There's only two reasons why this review even gets one star: the gym is close to my house, and yelp…read moreallow negative stars. At this gym, they sold me some personal training. About 30 hours or so. They never told me that it was auto renewing, and after I finished with my personal training, my trainer asked me if I was planning to re-enroll. I said no, I was not planning to re-enroll. Next thing I know, I am the proud owner of like 120 hours of personal training! And I can't return them, or get any money back. Also, the customer service here really sucks. One morning I showed up to work out on a Saturday, the gym is supposed to open at six, I got here at about 10 till. The parking lot starting to fill up with people, and at 6:05 the gym still wasn't open yet! 6:10, 6:20, at 6:30 I finally left with a bunch of other people. So much for waking up early on Saturday to work out! Also, I'm going to post a picture of a sign that has literally been on the men's restroom for a month. A month! How long does it take to hire a plumber and get them out here to fix the toilet? Evidently it's just easier to secretly charge people for personal training then it is to use that money to actually take care of the clients. It's kind of a small gym, lots of the machines breakdown., It's just kind of a place that you go only if it's close to your house. Update!! Here's a picture of the other men's restroom. Notice there's no toilet paper? Well, instead of replacing it, TruFit has, in its most epic display of customer service, put out tissue boxes instead! Classy, guys.

Update - now another cable is broken. That makes 3 out of 8 that are broken. Almost half. Way to go…read moreTru Fit.
