There were about five or six climbs that they all could do attached to the rope so they could belay down. Then there were some free fall climb areas that they also thought was fun. Then when my oldest was done climbing, we played some ping pong and he played the piano that they have there. So we easily spent a couple of hours there and will definitely be back! After being at Crux for so long, it has stood out as having one of the most authentic communities in the city. I have built lifelong friends through the various fitness and yoga classes offered here and I think it's arguably one of the biggest bang-for-the-buck memberships around considering it includes climbing, open gym(s), multiple locations, and top-notch fitness and yoga classes. The gym has also started scheduling unique fitness and lifestyle workshops on the weekend and I've found these to be expansive to my overall fitness and health journey. They are hard core about getting you to a level you never knew existed, yet fun loving and very team spirited at the same time. The coaches are awesome and I feel like I have gained so much from training with them. If you are just a beginner at triathlons or an experienced triathlete, this is a group that embraces people of all levels and goals. There are people of all ages and ranges that train for the sprint, olympic, half ironman, and ironman distances. I started back in April of 2008, with their swim clinic. Yea, I could swim..maybe doggie paddle swim a couple 50 meters or so, but I REALLY didn't know HOW to swim. They taught me how to do it efficiently, with proper technique. 1 year ago I couldn't swim one length of Barton Springs without freaking out or hyperventilating. Swimming was the only thing keeping me from competing in a triathlon...but here I am now training for a half ironman. Yes I knew how to run..yes I had a bike, but really I didn't know how to put all the pieces together. With them, you have coaches to help you, teammates to push you along the way and give you advice, and practices that will kick your ass. Another great thing about the group is that they have a very flexible training schedule that can work for anyone and everyone. They have swim practices everyday (morning, lunchtime, and night), they have spin class 3 times a week at different times, they have track and run practice 3 times a week as well. On weekends there are group long rides and runs. You don't have to be a triathlete to join, many people train in all 3 sports, 2 sports or even just 1 pf the sports. The skies the limit with flexibility. If you are looking for a triathlon group to train with, this is IT. I don't mean to sound like this is some marketing ploy, because it's not. This is the real deal, and I am willing to put the smack down on anyone that chooses to challenge this review, because T3 is absolutely, positively THE shit.

We were excited to go paddle boating, but the experience was extremely disappointing…read more The lake had so much algae that it wrapped around the paddle boat's propeller every few seconds, making it incredibly difficult to move. Instead of enjoying our time on the water, we spent most of it stopping to remove algae just so we could keep going. My biggest issue isn't the algae itself--nature happens. My issue is that the staff never warned us about the lake conditions before renting us the paddle boats. If we had known the algae was bad enough to make paddling this difficult, we never would have rented them. On top of that, one of our paddle boats had a broken piece on the hatch used to access the propeller. I personally had to go over and help my sister because she couldn't properly open and close it to remove the algae. Every time the propeller got wrapped up again, it made the process even more frustrating. I explained the situation to an employee and pointed out the broken piece. Instead of offering a solution, I was told there was nothing they could do and that she just needed to keep removing the algae and paddle her way back to the dock. Later, when she was still struggling, we were told it would cost $50 for someone to come tow or assist her. Because we were moving so slowly due to the algae, we ended up spending more time on the lake than expected and were charged an additional $16 for another 30 minutes. That extra charge could have been avoided if we had simply been told about the lake conditions before renting the boats. Instead of taking our concerns seriously, the response was essentially, "It's better in the spring." If that's the case, then customers should be told about the current lake conditions before they're charged. We could have chosen a different activity instead of paying for an experience that turned into a struggle from start to finish. Honest communication and properly maintained equipment would have made all the difference.

For a weekend morning we were happy to snag a spot and made our way down to the rental area. You can decide on single vs double kayaks or paddleboards and rent by the hour. We decided on an hour of double kayak and thoroughly enjoyed our time out on the water. They have plenty of life vests and the staff were helpful in helping us get in and out of the kayak. It's a gorgeous lake and on a hot summer day was nice and cool on the water. Great opportunity to get some exercise in while looking at the beautiful vegetation up and down the lake. Highly recommend!
