I hired this company for duct cleaning and mold cleaning in my HVAC system. What followed was a pattern of poor workmanship and zero accountability. Shortly after their service, our AC stopped working. The cause: tape they had applied around the UV light they installed had come loose. They came out, retaped it, and assured us this had never happened before. We gave them the benefit of the doubt. Some time later, the AC stopped working again. This time, the tape on the main plenum access had completely come loose -- again, their work, same issue. I was not willing to have them back in my home, so I called our own HVAC technician. He charged first to come out and then again to fix what their faulty taping caused. Their response? That they would have come fix it for free under warranty. That is not accountability. The point is that the same failure happened twice, and at no point did anyone take genuine responsibility for the disruption or the $400 I paid out of pocket. Was quoted a flat fee and when the technician arrived, wanted to quote an additional price because of Creosote in the chimney. I've been managing property for over 15 years and have seen hundreds of fireplaces; having Creosote in the chimney is 1) normal with any wood burning chimney and 2) the purpose of scheduling the cleaning in the first place so this really felt like a bait and switch tactic to extract more money, given the timing of severe weather coming in this weekend. This chimney was serviced and cleaned several years (~3 to 4) ago, so there wasn't an unreasonable amount of buildup warranting the ask for an additional charge. This company sub'ed the duct cleaning to a third party without telling me in advance. The "tech" they sent out cut into my air conditioning unit without asking for permission or even telling me. I just wanted the ducts cleaned!! The next day the air in the house was not working correctly. Had to call another company to come out and 350 dollars later. This company did not fix the cuts they made correctly and the air conditioner was cooling my attic!!! I had a wonderful account with both Stephanie and David with Austin breeze. I ended up messaging them when a previous company hired for duct cleaning ghosted us. The previous company indicated mold was in the vents and they wanted to install a UV light system ($$$$) and special sanitation of the entire system ($$$). When I called the main office of this other company - they couldn't tell me where the mold was or explain other remedies. I called 3 times and they promised me a call back from a technician that never came. I expect it's likely because they didn't have any evidence of real issues of concern. Then I contacted austin breeze and from start to finish the communication was stellar. Stephanie had Fast responses, booked a visit for an inspection, called the day before with a friendly reminder, and gave me a 30min call ahead on their arrival. I had Austin Breeze come out to give my fireplace a once over for safety. As the other reviews state for all fireplace inspections, it doesn't take long to check out. Imagine walking around a car to inspect for safety. Lights, mirrors, tires. Doesn't take that long, right? They looked inside my fireplace (soot and small cracks were found) and went up on the roof to check that out. Everything looks good up there. Suggestions were to do a deep clean and fill the cracks. We made an appointment and they showed up right on time. Their rate is exceptional for a safety inspection - I believe they were having a special. I opted to wait on the repairs but was given a quote of $250 for the deep clean and creosote treatment and $350 to repair the cracks/gaps and a fireproof coating for the bricks. I was also scheduled via the Yelp app for the same week I contacted the company. But, Austin Breeze came out and looked at our ducts and said the ducts are already very, very clean. They came by on a holiday, arrived on time, inspected and cleaned every vent, as well as sealed some spots that could've caused condensation issues down the road (they did this for free btw). They gave us lots of tips on how to maintain our new HVAC system and showed us little things to keep an eye on before our next inspection in about two years. Used yelps "request a quote" feature. All the companies had different pricing structures but Austin Breeze had the best prices overall for our situation. The serviceman came timely and explained the whole process and took a little over an hour to clean the vents and put antibacterial spray. Showed before and after pics, and was pretty honest about our system being pretty clean to begin with and to keep doing what I'm currently doing since it's working. The $149 cleaning service + inspection serves solely as a means to sell you on a deeper cleaning + mold prevention treatment that for our house we were quoted $1,700. Two guys came, one did all the work and the other spent the entire time selling me on additional services. They also cleaned our dryer vent and didn't hook it up again after cleaning it so when we went to go do laundry again our whole laundry room was filled with the exhaust of the dryer and we now need to pull it out and rehook it up. Update: they called me this morning and offered to come fix the dryer vent hookup and offered to refund the $149 service fee if I take down this review. My guess is they do this with everyone who leaves a bad review which is why they have nearly no bad reviews. read more
