I came into the store last year to order a flag, as I had previously ordered from this company years ago at their 1st Street location. My past experience was positive, the staff was friendly, and I received my product right away. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was not good. When I initially came in, my flag was never ordered. After not receiving a call, I stopped by the store and learned that a member of the sales team had dropped the ball and failed to place the order. No one contacted me to inform me of this. Now, in 2026, they have also ordered the wrong pole, even though I specifically requested a black one. They apologized for the misunderstanding and said they would reorder the correct pole, which is supposed to arrive in about two weeks. At this point, I am wondering if the flag will actually come in and whether anyone will follow up with me. If I do eventually receive my flag, I will likely not do business with this company again. read more

Awesome specialty store. Little tiny place, I think it's actually part of the owner's home. They have a lot of flags... including blank ones. My plan for ACL is making a flag using one of their blank ones, and this was the only place in town that I found had them. The staff was very helpful in suggesting different methods for doing the flag customization. They have at least 3 rescued white german shepherds that roam the store. Michelle at Austin Flag and Flagpole was a delight to work with. We are planing an important business meeting and needed table top Texas and US flags. They not only had that but a variety of several flags to choose from. Everything you would need in the way of flags (college too), poles, mounting hardware, honor flags, bumper stickers and don't forget to pet the 3 HUGE white German Sheppard's while your there. Finding a decent American flag to hang on your house is harder than you'd imagine. Sure you could stop by the garden section of Home Depot or Lowe's, but you get a cheap looking mass-produced flag that will probably last you one season. Instead, Austin Flag and Flagpole was my first stop when I needed a new outdoor flag of decent quality. For years, I'd had problems with the wind ravelling the flag around its pole, and I constantly had to fix it. I took my busted flag here, and they recommended a pole with the new feature that allows the top portion to rotate, solving that old problem. They were able to offer me a flag with raised, embroidered stars and quality stitching. The women there even put it together for me. They were extremely helpful and courteous. Glancing around I saw a whole range of products, for indoor flags and military flags as well. If you are a purchaser for a state/federal government agency in Austin looking for flags, this would be a great local business to deal with. The icing on the cake for this place are the ultra-cute family of dogs they keep around the store. My favorite dog is a huge, 100+lb. dog named Sonny, who is completely white and extremely friendly. The women said he was a "retail dog" who knew how to deal with the customers. He has a whole family too, and I saw another dog named Snowflake who was taking a nap behind the desk. I know it has nothing to do with purchasing flags, but seeing the dogs is always a treat. Next time you need a flag, stop here! And say hi to Sonny for me. read more

Amazing small business. My husband has been in there before but my first time there was today. I went in knowing exactly what my husband wanted to replace our sad looking Texas flag, and the lady working knew exactly what I was talking about and got it for me. Austin Flag helped us out last fall to get the top of our 20' residential flag pole worked on, it needed some TLC. Given the location a truck was difficult and they were able to find us a pole climber who only needed personal equipment. The whole thing was fixed in a matter of an hour and the price was reasonable. I would call them again should my pole have any more issues. read more
