I recently got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed and Dr.Weil was so great he made me comfortable and was very professional. The front desk people were informative and extremely friendly. What I thought was going to be a terrible experience was smooth and not at all as bad as I was expecting. He prescribed me pain meds and a mouth wash and I haven't had a single problem at all. I can't speak to Subina B's particular situation, but I did want to counter her review with my own experience. I've known I need to get my wisdom teeth out for about 15 years but have just been too afraid to do it. Because a lot of the work I've needed to have done has been dependent on getting those teeth out, I've ignored my dental work for the most part and have ended up with quite a few big problems. I recently decided to simply get it over with, because the pain I've experienced from neglecting my teeth in the past few years has actually exceeded the pain I figured I would be facing after getting my wisdom teeth removed. Dr White and his staff were extremely professional and efficient. I didn't have to wait long for an appointment, and they were right on time the day of that appointment. After my xray, the doctor sat down with me and explained that it would be best to leave my lower wisdom teeth in place, and we discussed the pros and cons of removing a couple of other unhealthy teeth at the same time as my upper wisdom teeth. Before I left I was given an estimate that included IV sedation, and all four teeth versus just the wisdom teeth. I was asked to pay on the day of my surgery, but I would have expected that to be the case. I've had other surgeries and have always paid for services rendered up front. As with most doctor's offices, the office staff contacted my insurance company to confirm my benefits before giving me the initial estimate. My experience here was absolutely wonderful. My husband got his wisdom teeth extracted here and I went with him for a few appointments and was blown away by the treatment he got. Everyone who works here is so professional and personable! The techs that I spoke with when my hubby was coming out of his post surgery coma were amazingly helpful, funny and on point with everything. I couldn't recommend this place more and I am actually excited to get my wisdom teeth out here next. DR. I had my surgery on 9/7 with Dr. Weil and he did an amazing job with all four of my wisdom teeth. I was only going to do my lower ones but the techs Nicole & Deanna said "girl get all 4 out" and thank you for that Deanna because I kept going back and forth and couldn't decide. Everyone was very welcoming and made me feel like I was at home. I felt normal the day I went home and barely had any pain and even during the healing process I haven't had bad pain. The healing process is a breeze (when you follow instructions) and Deanna was there for me for whatever questions I had after my surgery. I was so impressed with my experience with this medical provider. From the very first phone call, the staff went to great lengths to see that I was evaluated asap. The staff went above and beyond to fit me into the schedule, they seemed more concerned about getting me in for medical care and were willing to work patiently through obstacles, they were courteous, kind, knowledgeable, and respectful. The staff promptly returned phone calls to arrange my visit, Dr. Thomas S. Weil graciously fit me into his very busy schedule unexpectedly, I am pretty sure he skipped his lunch break to be able to fit me in, he listened to my feedback, he was attentive to my concerns, he was thorough in my examination, he answered my questions adequately, and he explained my treatment options. His clinical assistant spent additional time with me after my examination to discuss any further follow up concerns, and the billing staff explained my options. If only other medical practices were run with the same compassion, expertise and precision- many of our healthcare woes could be avoided, and confidence in our healthcare system could be restored. Thank you for the care you provided to me. I felt confident I was in good hands, that my well being was being considered. and that I could rely upon you for quality care. When my root canal was a failure and I was told, halfway through, that I would need to have the tooth extracted and an implant placed, I melted down. Fortunately, Dr. Kern and his staff were able to work me in that same day for the extraction. The office staff were excellent about explaining the treatment plan and working with my insurance to minimize the cost and stress to me. The implant surgery itself was a breeze. Dr. Kern demystified the process and told me exactly what to expect so that I was well-prepared. I've been dismissed to get a crown placed by my regular dentist, and while I hope to never need these services again, I'm happy to know they're available. read more

Let me start by saying the doctor and nursing staff were top notch. The whole office worked hard to get us in quickly for a consult and surgery for my son who needed to report to boot camp as soon as possible. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is for the administrative side. It was exactly the quick action they had for us that caused issues with them being able to confirm insurance in time so I had to pay for the consult in full. I understood this. However, at the time of surgery a week later, I was told that I either had to pay in full or wait a month for the predetermination letter. We couldn't wait so I paid over $3k. I was assured they were handling the paper work that day with insurance. I even called them a couple of weeks later to make sure things were in process which I was assured again it was and to wait for a call from Humana next. I called Humana 2 weeks later to find out a claim was never filed. Humana called Tracy with Austin Oral Surgery (who was not someone I had spoken with prior) and she was GREAT. She called the front office (the folks I had been working with) and got them to give her what she needed to file the claim immediately. They apparently never followed through with Tracy and no good reason was given other than it was an oversight. I now have to wait another month for reimbursement. read more

Dr. Weil and his staff are the most professional and kindest group you could imagine. Everything was perfect and the cost was far below another group that I went to first. If you get a referral to this place for a consultation concerning what the options are for a dental problem you better hang on to your wallet. You go in and fill out their paperwork, turn it in along with the X-rays from your referring dentist. You see their dentist for less than 10 minutes while he explains your options. At no time is there ever anyone saying "Oh by the way we charge $420 per hour ($70 for a 10 minute consult). After you leave and make your decision to use another dental option they wait 4 months before sending you a bill for the $70 consult fee and then have the nerve to add a $2 service charge for sending you the bill. read more

My mother, Bonnie, recently needed my help with scheduling an appointment with an in network provider for oral surgery. After obtaining a list if in network providers from her dental insurance company, I went through them and checked their yelp ratings. Dr.Kern had great ratings and stood out from the rest. I told her to call and verify that he is still an in network provider and how much the appointment would cost. She did and the secretary took all of her dental insurance information and verified that they were in fact still an in network provider and the appointment would cost $20. She wanted to get into the oral surgeon as soon as possible to address her dental issues, so my mom asked for and booked an appointment for their first available, which was just under 2 weeks out. Then, the day of her appointment, the office girl called her and told her that Dr. K was actually not in network since her dental plan is an HMO. This would have come up when the insurance was verified, so aside from not.properly verifying, I can not see why they hadn't figured this out almost 2 weeks earlier. She then had the option of paying 100% out of pocket or cancelling her appointment. They essentially wasted her time and caused a delay in her care. Not cool. read more

I know, I only tend to review what I absolutely love. I am just finishing over 2 years of treatment for a a malformed jaw. Before I chose Dr. Weil, I visited 8 different professionals for the possibility of a less invasive cure. My jaw was misaligned so severely, my lower teeth were nearly lying down, and two were pulled out of the bone in front, I snored like a freight train.. After the third person recommended him by name, I looked into his past. He had no complaints. He appeared to be Valedictorian of every class he ever attended. Everyone who met him loved him. I met him, and it was all true. This guy who was going to slice into me put me at ease with hardly a word. I thought he had to break my lower jaw, but my treatment plan was to work with my orthodontist to straighten my teeth, then take my upper jaw from my skull, split it into pieces, pull it 13mm forward, revise my soft pallette and bolt it all back on. The day of the scheduled surgery, I ended up having emergency back surgery. There was no problem rescheduling, he checked on how I was doing between surgeries. His staff is fantastic. They appeal it when the insurance balks, then just refunds your card, and they are always warm and personal, and skilled. If you are afraid of pain, go there. He removed 2 teeth with a few well placed novacain shots, after numbing gel, with no discomfort, much less pain. He rebuilt missing bone with no pain. I did not need Tylenol.. nothing. Best resolution I could hope for. My pic was taken 5 days after the surgery, and the swelling had subsided. read more

I wouldn't give this place even one star, but I have to in order to write this. My husband was referred to Austin Oral Surgery by his dentist. He was seen at an appointment at 3pm and left literally, no later then 3:15 (this includes check out). So kudos to you for being quick. The diagnosis? His tongue is too big for his mouth. And no surgery would be needed. In all honesty this is by far the most laughable thing I have ever heard. Until they told me that they are charging us a 175 dollars. We were under the impression that my husband may need to have surgery, that this was just a consultation. How in the world is a consultation $175! This is not something they think is necessary to explain when placing the appointment or taking your insurance. They waited til check out to inform us what we would owe. I have had many consultations in my life due to many different kinds of medical surgeries and I have NEVER had to pay anything for a consultation. This place is a joke and a rip off. The women I spoke to over the phone was clearly uneducated in this matter. I was trying to ask why a consultation was so much money, and her answer was, "we just code it that way, for medical not dental". We were just going in circles, cause she had no answer other than that. It would be wise for someone to inform her that most people need an actual explanation. From other reviews on this page it looks like a lot of people had this same problem. And from my point of view and from someone who has been in the medical field for over 10 years, I would not recommend this place to one person. read more
