    CHICKEN FRIED CHICKEN DINNER
    Reuben M.

We came to eat here after my nephews game. It was extremely busy. The waitress was mostly attentive. Everyone at our table was served in a timely manner, except me. How did they know I would be an Elite Yelper? lol. They forget to make my food and the waitress went MIA. My chicken fried chicken was overcooked and dry. This is an excellent place to come out and hang out with your buddies and drink beer. Not so great when it's extremely busy, and looking for good eats.

This place is ok. If you're looking for a stop while traveling it was nice for the kids to get out a play. The food is just ok. And it's a dad friendly place which I don't mind but we had dog hair on our table.

Frozen Jack N Coke, so refreshing!

This outdoor oasis is a great gathering spot for friends, a date or even alone. Food was good , more of an elevated bar menu. The best surprise was the frozen Jack N Coke! When driving through the Texas hill country this hidden gem is absolutely worth the pitstop! Service was a little slow but it didnt matter as much getting to hang out in a beautiful atmosphere.

Angel's was closed for remodeling when we first moved to the area and we noticed they were open recently, so we stopped in for dinner. The outdoor area is family (and pet!) friendly. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant, having seen tables get turned over quickly and were cleaned meticulously. All of the servers made sure to give my dog attention, too, bringing him water and a Milk Bone (twice his size!). He gives two paws up for having been treated like a hooman. Our drinks were delicious and our entrees were fantastic as well. There was live music that night. It was nice to be able to enjoy the music from a distance, so we could enjoy having our conversation as well. We didn't end up walking inside at all, so we will have to go back to check it out without our 4-legged friend one day.

We come to Angels almost every weekend! We love the live music, the beautiful spacious outdoors seating, and the kids love the playground and room to roam! My favorites are their Brussels sprouts, queso, and sliders! But my MOST favorite is the Angels Meltdown! Yummmm We have also had the pork chops and chicken fried chicken that were delicious! We always have friendly and fast service!

The food was fantastic, and we loved spending an evening on the patio watching the kids play. Highly recommend the Southern Belle sandwich (+ buffalo sauce if that's your thing), and the lemon ice box pie.

Stopped by for brunch, but it turns out they only serve lunch…read more I ordered the pesto pasta with salmon, and it was excellent. The menu said penne pasta, but what arrived was a different pasta shape, rigatoni maybe, that actually worked better. The sauce filled the pasta, so every bite had plenty of flavor. The salmon was cooked nicely with a crisp exterior that added great texture to the dish. My husband ordered the shrimp po'boy, and unfortunately his experience wasn't as positive. The first sandwich had to be sent back because the shrimp were so overcooked they had the texture of chicharrones. The staff quickly remade it, but the second sandwich was only slightly better. Part of the issue seemed to be the size of the shrimp. They were quite small, which makes them much easier to overcook. Considering this is a seafood and steakhouse restaurant, we were surprised by the size and quality of the shrimp. That said, both our waiter and the manager were very kind and responsive when addressing the issue. We chose not to send the sandwich back a second time, and my husband simply didn't finish his meal. The iced tea was delicious. They prepare it tableside using something similar to a coffee press, which made it taste especially fresh. And the view? Excellent as always.

We were excited to try the food, and were hungry. Our server appeared (I can't remember his name but he was a short guy with blond hair). I ordered a cocktail and my husband ordered beer to begin with. He went away and then came back asking my husband if he wanted some whiskey cocktail, and we corrected him that we had asked for a particular beer. No big deal. We then ordered the deviled eggs and shishito peppers, and the red fish and short ribs for entree. A lady brought us the drinks, and the deviled eggs. Our server swung by and then disappeared. We thought the shishito peppers were on their way. We waited for what seemed like a really long time and still no shishito peppers. We also noticed that each table had a carafe of water except ours. We were just given water once, and then our server never bothered to fill the water up. Anyway, we kept waiting since there was no sign of the server. At this point, we felt he might have forgotten the second appetizer and we just did not want it, but he was nowhere to be found. A man (not our server) brought out our entrees. We then told him that we had been waiting for our second appetizer and would just want to cancel it. We asked if we could get the biscuits instead. He brought out the biscuits within a few minutes. Now this is where it really annoyed us. Had our server just come over and said he had forgotten our shishito peppers, it would have been okay. Human. What he tried was act smart and dropped by saying the shishito peppers would be out to which we said that we didn't want an appetizer after an entree and had cancelled it. I almost felt like he was treating us as if he thought we don't really dine out or whatever and he could just make fools of us. This really didn't sit right with me. We asked him for water and he filled it up left. The food was above average. The short ribs were good but my red fish had been hammered! The biscuits were good. The deviled eggs were good as well. Anyway, we finished our meal, and got the check, paid, and were waiting to finish our drinks. The receipt was on our table. Also, note, it was not a particularly busy day with several empty tables. What our server did next was absolutely unacceptable. I think he wanted to see if we had tipped him after his awful service. We did, but not 20% as we always do because of the soddy job he did, not to mention his attitude. We paid 15% which I think was more than what he deserved now. Out of nowhere, and mind you, after being absent for long periods before, he just came by, grabbed the paid up bill from our table to our shock, while we were still sitting and talking, looked at the bill, turned towards us, and muttered something angry under his breath and walked away. I have never seen this level of entitlement and bad behavior. We left right away. We had been really looking forward to this meal but I would not want to go back. The food was good, but not great, and I would not want to put up with such obnoxious behavior as a paying customer.

The nachos seemed like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp, the cheese was hard and clumpy, and the toppings were pretty sparse compared to the mountain of chips. The ribs were overcooked, so we swapped them out for chicken tenders. The star of the meal? The fried pickles, crispy, flavorful, and easily the best thing we ordered. Service was a bit lacking, but the staff appeared to be young and possibly still learning, so I gave them some grace. Overall, I've had better luck with takeout here. Once you're inside, you can explore a lot of the house and it blew me away how much you're able to walk around and see. There's art everywhere, tons of movie memorabilia, and it kinda feels like a Texas Chainsaw museum that just happens to serve food, which is pretty awesome. The theme isn't subtle either (in the best way). One area had a bar with a severed head behind it! There are so many little details, displays and photo moments that other horror fans are going to be obsessed with too! Even the menu is fun, with stuff like the Chicken Slaughter sandwich and the Hitchhiker's grilled chicken. I know it's cheesy, but I love it, especially when the whole place is packed with memorabilia. Food was pretty good too. The experience is definitely the main event, but the food held its own as a bar and grill, and mixing that with how cool the place is made it feel like a full stop, not just a novelty visit. Service was fine but not super standout. There were only a couple staff members actively helping people while others were cleaning up, and everyone was nice enough, just not really "above and beyond." Our food also took a while for a burger and a turkey sandwich, but honestly those are my only real complaints, and I'm only even mentioning it because I'm also here to talk about the food. It was great regardless of the wait. Upstairs has a few more Leatherface items plus some gory/spooky decor, and there's a cool little location map where you can stick a pin in to indicate how far you've visited from! They also have a creepy skin looking guest book to sign, which is such a perfect touch. One real warning though: it's an old house. In Texas, Prepare for the heat, and I mean that seriously. If you want to explore outside too, come ready. I had a UV-blocking umbrella and a face mister and I was still feeling it. Sunglasses for the grounds are a must too. Also, there's a kitty living on the porch named Tuxie, and he's a precious little buddy who loves attention. Make sure you say hi. They offer standard American fare and our waitress did a great job juggling our orders all while being efficient and kind. I made a reservation online easily which is recommended because they can get busy, especially on a Saturday. I tried their artichoke dip which was decadent and served with chips. I got so full from that that I just had a stuffed baked potato as my main course which was really good too. Their beers were reasonably priced even for drafts. They also have fun specialty cocktails aptly themed to the history of the restaurant. We're planning to go back another time for brunch and to enjoy the town of Kingsland a little more. We were treated to a gorgeous Sunset on our visit but left before we lost too much light given we all drove from San Antonio and didn't want to be on the smaller hill country roads too late at night.
