Beware of the warranty service charges! They are charging 4 times the amount as the first service call and if you don't pay then the "Lifetime Warranty" is void. Stay away from this company! Ryan and his team were very helpful in setting up our new system. They were able to come the next day. Our family has extremely dry skin and we could immediately feel the difference in the water. Lifetime warranty is a scam! Just a heads up for any new customers. If you buy their system with a lifetime warranty, they will charge you a maintenance fee based on their beliefs. The amount of this fee is not specified anywhere but will be due every year. If you do not pay it, your warranty is not valid. Upon installation of our system, the guys were saying that company is thinking of adding a fee of $20 but it wasnt set up in stone. 10 months later, it is $54.13. There is a recording of Ann which will be posted soon and link will be uploaded where she confirms that they can decide any amount whenever they want to and if you dont pay it, you are screwed. We will make sure all the new houses at the Sunfield community know that from now but if you are from somewhere else. Beware. read more

I'll admit the initial pitch is indeed an awkward sales pitch but I was already in the market for a soft water solution. My only piece of advice is that it would come across more genuine if they were just up front about the whole thing. We purchased this system 3 years ago. They had to install the system across my lawn and under the driveway. They tore up the front yard by cutting sod squares digging the line and replacing the sod. The yard but it took about a year to look green again. We wrote it off because we liked the system, and frankly at the time we had other fish to fry. I can't say exactly when it happened, but it quit working. They did come out, and replaced what amounts to the motherboard. After a couple of months, same thing. I decided to check on my own and found the power supply cord stretched to the limit. I took a look under the hood and the plug (similar to a laptop plug) was indeed loose. I added an extension cord myself and had no further problems until a couple of weeks ago. It quit working again. This time the power plug was all good, but I got an error "3", once again I looked under the hood and found a cable loose. I couldn't for the life of me find where it was supposed to plug in. I did miss the appointment but agreed to pay the 25$ penalty. For the next appointment, they brought a tech up from San Antonio because the local tech had called in sick. I did mention in the request for service call that there was an error 3. He came in prepared to swap out the board, incidentally he couldn't find where the loose plug went either, but after pulling the faceplate found it. Then he looked at the error, Scratched his head and said he had never seen that one, it was usually a 6, hence the motherboard he had on hand. Turns out the error 3 needed a one part not on the motherboard. It was an optical sensor part that he didn't have on hand and would come back Monday. Once again I missed the call, and once again I had other stuff (car broken). But I didn't receive a follow up call. Next, next we received a bill for 135$ for replacing the filters in the RO sink filter. We were told at the sale that they would take care of that along with a whole system check. I finally got back around to this. Called to get another appointment and was told we had to pay for the filters, again we were told (All would be fixed). I asked her "we need to clear this bill on as she said wasn't under warranty, before they would fix the issue that was on something that did have a warranty and was broken. She agreed that yes, that was it. Upshot is, I paid the 135$ for the filters I understood were included In the original warranty). They will be out Saturday. What do you bet they don't have the right part? read more

We were told the system will be paid off in 5 year and checking in suddenly we have a higher balance than original. Beware, their lifetime warranty is not a lifetime warranty, or any warranty at all. In order to be active you have to pay a fee, which they can change to anything they want. So pretty much you have a lifetime membership on the top of the $9k system. Austin Water Solutions is great! Yes, their sales pitch is cookie cutter like another review stated, but Matt made it enjoyable and played along with my jokes and we actually had a lot in common! As somebody with sensitive skin, I've found the best "cures" for mild eczema to not be the steroid creams but just keeping your skin clean. There is a night and day difference between the water we had before Matt sold us the Pro Elite and after. Water spots are mostly gone, the glass shower stays cleaner longer, every faucet is drinkable, you don't need to replace the fridge filter ever again, and you get a spot free faucet for washing the car. You feel great after showering in treated water, and it doesn't take up much room in the garage. Anthony, the owner, came by after we were 90% sure and talked over placement in my garage with me. He worked with me on location and we were signed up for install the next day. Installation was quick, they replaced sod on the side yard that already had bad drainage and was already muddy without asking, and the QA follow up was informative and resolved a minor issue I had with a bent cap. The GE Pro Elite is easy to maintain, you just call Austin Water Solutions! Besides adding salt when its low, AWS takes care of everything, and will even move it for you should you decide to move, all free & included in the warranty. Matt was fun, informative, and hooked us up with free installation and some other perks on top of the unit. AWS has been nothing but quick to respond post-sale which was a major concern of mine when checking out treatment solutions prior to meeting with Matt. You won't be disappointed. read more

Someone from this company came to my house in Round Rock during the day on a day when my wife was home from work on sick leave. When she answered the door, she told these sales people that she was sick and asked if this was an emergency or a sales pitch. Without answering her question, the pushy sales duo lied as being GE employees dispatched by our homebuilder to conduct water tests and repairs on our washing machine. Sick and exhausted, my wife asked the to come back in the evening when I would be home from work. When I came home, this duo came back and once again represented themselves as GE employees dispatched by our homebuilder. Our homebuilder had warned us that this was a common lie told by salesmen for contractors and that before they sent anyone, I could expect to coordinate with the warranty manager. Moreover, anyone they dispatched would have credentials from the homebuilder. When I asked for these credentials, they balked and said that they don't have them, but it's okay because they do tests like this all the time. When I asked for proof of their GE employment, they wouldn't produce them, either, and asked why their tee-shirts weren't enough credibility. My answer was that any idiot could buy a custom made tee-shirt from online, but that formal credentials and identification were more difficult to fake, and that I wanted to see them. Their response was to say that I could look at a drivers license or a pilots license, but they would not present me their GE credentials. Then the guy in the pair got pushy and wanted to know why I was so demanding of credentials, claiming that he had a top rating with the BBB. I asked for a business card so that I could track things down with the homebuilder, which I did. I also checked with my neighborhood list-serv. It turns out that these people have been lying about their deals with the homebuilders: if I let them do anything, it would have voided my warranties, as they were not on the approved vendors list. More than that, they had been scamming people in the neighborhood with this lie for at least a week. The funny thing is that I was completely open to taking a bid for a water softener, but I will not work with people who are dishonest. I have also passed on this information to the various Indian and Asian communities I belong to, so I hope that the loss of business helps them find a way to better sales practices. read more

For anyone not living on downtown City water in Travis County, the sad truth is that you've got hard water and need some kind of solution. I'd always been wary of the horror stories told by first-time homeowners, especially the part of being bombarded with new services for your home: pesticide, lawn care, etc. Unfortunately, water softeners are no different. Lo and behold, shortly after moving into my new house, two reps from Austin Water Solutions drive by my neighborhood and knock on my door. I invite them in to do a "free water test," which ends up proving that I have extremely hard water (as if I didn't know that already because the builder had previously cautioned me so). Their proposed solution was a GE Pro Elite water treatment system, marketed as "the last water treatment system you will ever need" in this lifetime. Riiight. As if I'm going to bring my water softener to my next place of residence when I move. After enjoying the almost 2-hour dog and pony show, which I must admit was very thorough and convincing, the rep pulls out a list price of close to $9K. But "don't worry," he says, because he has a "special promotion" going on. He makes a phone call and tells me his price is $8K. Not only do I get a water treatment system, he also throws in 5-years worth of mail-order soaps and detergents manufactured by Pure & Gentle. (I've never heard of that company before. He claims it's the natural alternative to Proctor & Gamble but I'm unable to find any internet literature.) At this point, all the red flags go up in my mind. Being a salesperson myself, I am always disgusted when I witness others in the sales profession who stoop to trickery on such low levels. I thank the two reps, bid them good night, and kindly ask them to leave. A couple days later, one of the reps calls me and says that he spoke with his sales manager and is able to deliver a new unit to me at a used one's price ($5K). For anyone considering a career change, your takeaway from my story is that there are highly-lucrative profit margins to be made in the water softener business. Unfortunately for this particular sales rep, his Achilles Heel is his belief that his company monopolizes the Greater Austin market. It couldn't be further from the truth, as I was able to locate another authorized GE Pro Elite dealer who was able to quote me for the same product for less. I'd give two-stars for the presentation and the hustle. read more

Purchased a water treatment system from AWS which came with RO device and installation. We scheduled the appointment for them to install the very next day. While the crew was not able to install both the water treatment system and the RO the same day, as promised, I did appreciate Michael for coming out and still doing the RO install. Weather conditions and possibly overbooking caused the crew to not be able to perform the original scope of work. The good of AWS: - Employees are genuine, very friendly - Solid product. Reverse osmosis tastes great The bad of AWS: - Last minute reschedule - due to weather conditions and possibly overbooking Scheduled the next available appointment a few days out and hope no change of plans this time around. They tore up the front yard by cutting sod squares digging the line and there is some pipes above the ground level causing day to day tasks difficult .Called multiple times they said it is illegal to bury under the ground and they cannot do it .When I asked for the documents where it says it is illegal after multiple calls they agreed to move it underground but $300 will be charged for it.When I asked that you guys said it is illegal first now you can do illegal stuff in $300 only.Then they again refused to move it and came back on talking to Texas state rules and regulation blah blah just to kill the time .Despite then I keep calling every day thinking they might come and correct it but then they stopped taking my calls .I called the customer service that you guys spoiled my house front yard I don't want the system take it she said she cannot do anything and I can go ahead and do anything against them they do not care. We had our GE Pro Elite Water Treatment System installed about a month ago and we've been very satisfied with the water and the service from Austin Water Solutions. Dakota and Lana performed the water quality test and explained everything about the GE Pro Elite system and they were excellent. We love that anytime we move they'll come out and uninstall the system and reinstall it at our new house. Lauryn and Matt came back to our house a few weeks after it was installed and retested the water to make sure everything was working properly and it was. Everyone we've interacted with from Austin Water Solutions has been outstanding and they've made sure we're completely satisfied. Two hour demonstration about water filters. Insisted I sign up on the spot without being able to research an $8,000 purchase. They came during dinner time. Did not give an estimate of how long their water testing was going to take. Tried to push me into a Friday installation and contract even though I told them I wasnt comfortable at all. Their big selling point was that because of their filter. I wouldnt need to use conditioner or as much shampoo (sexist much?). I was told three times (of which I have a voice recording) that I could cancel three days after the free trial installation. I finally agreed to let them come on a Monday (after spending 30 minutes telling them no, I'm moving Friday wont work. They kept insisting I only needed to let their workers in the house and that I didnt need to stay) The sale manager made me sign a contract BEFORE HE PUT DATES DOWN (HUGE RED FLAG) and wrote down the last day to cancel as the Monday they would install things for the free trial. I asked again after he wrote down the dates, and he gave the same response without changing dates. He then put the co tract in a folder on the top of the fridge and told me not to open it, it was for the workers. SCAM. SCAM. SCAM. SCAM. I advise everyone to just close the doors in their faces. They posed as a part of the DR Horton team for new home owners that came to do a water quality check. They came at 6pm and left at 8 30pm. My dinner guests arrived 10 minutes after they left while I was unable to cook since their "kit" took up the whole kitchen. read more
