Somehow I found this place on Yelp a few days ago. Being brand new with only one review, it was at the bottom of the list of BBQ spots in the area. I did some more research and knew my dad and I had to come check it out. I am so glad we did. Even with the 40 minute drive, it was worth it. The smell of the smoke had us salivating right from when @firetaster and I stepped out of the car into a PACKED parking lot. We joined the lengthy line that snaked around the inside of the building all the way back to the drink station. The anticipation was high as we slowly moved to the front. We both got the Texas Trinity plate, which comes with three slices of brisket, a spare rib, a link of sausage and two sides. The brisket is out of this world for even the leaner side of it is packed with flavor. Extremely tender, it falls apart with ease. Of the three meats, the rib is probably my least favorite, since that is the only one I decided to use their bbq sauce on, but it's still delicious. The jalapeño cheddar sausage is divine. Whoever first put cheese inside sausage is a genius. My dad got baked beans and coleslaw and I got mac & cheese and street corn. All the sides were great except for the coleslaw. I had one bite of the coleslaw and personally found it to be too sour. If you've ever had the mac & cheese at Panera, this one is very similar. Very simply with a very creamy white cheese sauce. We also got the pork belly burnt ends to share, but we regret that because you should know we did not finish all this food. The burnt ends were covered with a sweet sticky glaze, which pairs really well with the smoky meat. I love the aesthetics inside. The place is nicely decorated. The only thing that detracted from the experience for us was the music. A few county songs played, but we noticed a lot of Taylor Swift songs which did not fit the vibe. Some more distinctly southern songs in the playlist would help bring everything together. I'm going to be telling all my friends and family about this place. What a wonderful addition to the barbecue scene in the Birmingham area. I'm so happy for all the business their getting and I hope they continue to gain momentum and solidify themselves as one of the go-to bbq spots in Alabama.

Texas Trinity-The sausage is hiding under the bread.

As a transplanted Texan, I had my doubts. But this is the most authentic brisket I have had this side of the Mississippi in years! I got the Texas Trinity and the brisket was marbled and moist (order marbled to get the fat), the rib was tasty, and the sausage (jalapeño and cheese) was flavorful with a little kick at the end. I liked the slaw because it wasn't super sweet and the corn was fabulous. The only thing that I didn't care for was the sauce. It was too sweet and had maybe a molasses taste? You will have to wait in line and don't come too late because when the meat of your choice is gone...it's gone.

Brisket, Cole slaw and potato salad.

I just read a very long and very detailed review. I agree with there very high recommendation. I only disagree with one thing. When I ate there the regular potato salad was perfect. It wasn't undercooked at all. I have spent a lot of time working in Texas and their brisket is first class. I plan to have lunch there after church tomorrow.

Brisket (fatty and lean), beef sausage, burnt ends, texas twinky, smoked turkey, pork ribs, baked beans.

Oh hell! The boyz coming over for some cigars and bourbon. Everyone wants burger…read more.. Cajun Cleaver to the rescue. Their 80/20 ground steak burgers with some Southern Flavor from Selma, AL added (Piggly Wiggly sells it). Fellas devoured it, asking how I made my burgers. Cajun Cleaver...just saying!

The Cajun Cleaner is a pretty cool butcher/ store. On a recent visit they had a beer and wine…read moretasting which I enjoyed very much! Pretty cool that you can buy both in here and I went home with a bottle of wine. I also purchased a dinner that you can take home and cook in the oven. It was a chicken and rice dish that I enjoyed but it didn't say that it was made with smoked chicken so the husband and the kid hated it. The dogs enjoyed their share though. I suggest that if you buy one of the premade meals that you first ask what kind of meat is in it and how it is prepared. I got some fresh chicken breasts which were very nice w no fat on them. I also brought home a peanut butter pie which none of us really cared for. We were pretty disappointed since we love peanut butter pie. I took a picture of the Doux South products that they carry and sent it to my friend who was very happy to see that they have her favorite jarred tomatoes. Overall not a bad store. I will try them again and hope for better luck next time.
