After &700 for tows, rental car, and repair work, they refused to help us pay for any of the charges. They told me, and mind you, this company only markets oil changes that they had a full repair shop. I said that they don't have anything on their receipts or marketing about that. When I arrived, it took a noticeable amount of time before anyone came out to direct me to a bay. Once I was finally told where to go, two customers who arrived after me were moved ahead of me for their oil changes. I understand that things happen and that the location stays busy, especially in a growing area. However, no one offered an explanation or even a simple acknowledgment of the mix‑up. After more than 10 years of bringing all our vehicles to this location, it was disappointing to feel that my time and business weren't valued. My expectations for this type of service are reasonable, but when it becomes clear that my time isn't respected, that's when I have to make a change. I ultimately drove away without getting the service done. A friend recommended this place to me, and it's been a great experience every time. They always seem to be very busy (a good sign), but they get people in and out in a decent amount of time. When I get my oil change done, it usually doesn't take more than 15 minutes. I love the fact that I get to stay in my car, and the techs that work on my car don't try to upsell me on things I don't really need. Absolutely horrible experience. MY CAR'S ENGINE IS RUINED. I'm currently taking LEGAL action against Express Oil Change because they completely destroyed my engine with what should have been a basic oil change. And no, this isn't some dramatic exaggeration--this is real. I took my 2022 Honda Civic in on April 14th for a standard oil change. The guy seemed nice, nothing felt off at first. But the whole service felt way too fast--like in-and-out, blink-and-you-miss-it fast. I started to notice small things, like how no one gave a verbal confirmation that the work was done properly, which every other shop I've been to has always done. It just felt rushed and careless. A few days later, my car started making terrible sounds from the engine, not from the wheels, not the brakes--like deep, internal noises that made my stomach drop. I stopped driving it immediately and waited until I absolutely had to take it out again for work. I commute over an hour from Leander to Austin every day, so my car isn't just transportation--it's my lifeline. Then it got worse. A week after the oil change, I go to start my car and hear a violent clanking sound before it stalls. I smell burning oil. I flip on the garage light and there's a giant puddle of oil stretching from under my car out into the driveway and into the street. Full panic. I had to miss work and immediately call Leander Honda. I didn't even bother calling Express Oil--I didn't trust them to give me the truth or handle anything properly. Honda told me not to even try restarting it--it had to be towed. After hours of waiting, it was finally hauled to the dealership, where it sat all day for inspection. When the mechanics called me back, they were shocked. They even sent me a full video walkthrough showing that the drain plug on my oil pan had basically been left loose. It was barely hanging on--one turn away from falling out completely. Let me put this into perspective: I was commuting on highways going 70+ mph every day after this botched oil change. If that plug had fallen out mid-drive, all of the oil would've spilled onto the road. That's not just dangerous for me--that's dangerous for everyone else on the road. We're talking potential accidents, engine fires, total engine seizure--an absolute disaster waiting to happen. The bottom of my car was caked in burned, leaking oil. Honda had to replace several rubber components immediately for safety, because oil eats away at rubber and causes long-term damage. Even after all of that, my car still doesn't drive the same. It makes weird noises, and the performance is off. They told me my engine is likely compromised. And how did Express Oil Change respond? I left voicemails, finally got a call from an assistant manager who--get this--offered me four free oil changes as some kind of peace offering. Are you kidding me?! I now have hundreds of dollars in damage and towing fees on my credit cards. Not only did they refuse to reimburse me, but they never even refunded the cost of the oil change that ruined my engine and is now soaked into my driveway. I rent my home and the landlord is now forcing me to hire professional cleaners to fix the horrific stains in the driveway, as he should! The assistant manager told me that because I took my car to Honda (instead of towing it back to them), they're not responsible anymore. Then he basically said corporate wouldn't help either and ghosted me. I was told the general manager, John, would reach out--never happened. The franchise owner, Neil, and John have ignored all of my emails and calls. I even told them I was holding off on posting reviews in good faith, hoping they'd own their mistake. Nope. Radio silence. So here we are. I'm pursuing legal action now. They've left me no choice. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from Express Oil Change as possible. I have used this location and company for many years and was always pleased with how helpful the staff is. However, I have never used them for repairs just regular maintenance. I had a noise on my passenger side I wanted to get checked. After my diagnostic with them I was quoted $3200+ for my bearings, control arm, sway bar SCAF. I was completely devastated. I have a 2008 yr suv so my car was being told to me as damn near totaled. I'm also just a girl. I was advised to get a second opinion before I sold my car because that's where I was in my anxiety. I called D&K automotive and they got me a quote for everything that was on my quote from express and it was HALF the price. I was instructed to bring my car in the morning and after all the heart ache I was told none of the problems I was diagnosed with were the issue. I had a broken strut that costed $500.. that's damn near 3k less than what I was told here. The mechanic at D&K was just as thrown off as I was. He stated "you were going to be heartbroken if you committed to the repair or selling your car and you would've never fixed your issue" . He's right. My car makes no noise now, my control arm is fine and he said my bearings were quiet as a whistle. My family as a whole aren't going to this place anymore.. I feel let down and taken advantage of, there's no mistake that great to misquote that bad. Thank you to the D&K establishment for having me in first thing the next day and fixed that afternoon. Had I went with express my world would've been upside down and I'm thoroughly insulted in how that experience went. Men go with your daughters, wives, sisters to get their cars maintained .. they will try to take advantage of their trust and ignorance to cars. Men put your presence forward. My go to place to do my oil change. The staff is friendly, fast and efficient. You don't even have to get out of the car, just pull up and they change it right there. They also do a safety check and if anything pops up they let u know right there and then. My serpentine belt needed to be replaced and they did it on the spot at the same time as my oil change. I didn't have to make another trip to take care of that separately. Never had any issues coming here and would highly recommend. read more

This is one of the best most honest car places that exists. I've been coming here for about 6 years now and they have always been incredibly friendly and actually listen to what you tell them. They don't overcharge or take advantage of you and you can trust that they will be honest. They fixed my headlight when the wire was the problem and not the bulb and didn't charge me anything. They also helped me find a quick fix to the piece of my car that was hanging down from hitting a small possum. Cant recommend these guys enough. True honest professionals. I came by today to get inspection done and a guy because I don't want to say gentleman at all came up like I was bothering him. Told him that I needed an inspection done and I have a company vehicle. He stated that they do not do inspection on fleet vehicles. Told him I did it last year on 10/11/22 and I have the paperwork to prove it and he stated that he has be running this place for 8 yrs and they do not do inspections on fleets. He did not recommend to go anywhere else to help me and just walked off n barely said sorry. Every time I come here to get my oil change everyone has been nice to me n takes care of me. My wife and I have been here multiple times and it's always a consistent experience. We have never gotten any major work done, so I cannot comment on that. We have gotten oil changes, transmission flushes and inspections. I would not say the staff is overly friendly. Actually I would not even consider them friendly, but they are professional, courteous and too the point. The shop itself including the waiting room is usually pretty darn clean considering the work they do. Normally there service receipt comes with a discounted car wash and a discounted food coupon somewhere. IE in September 2021 it was $5 off $10 or more from Smokey Mo's read more

I have been a customer at this store for several years. I only use this shop for repairs to my vehicles, and normally I have a great experience at the Cedar Park location. While I was in for an oil change two weeks ago, I spoke with them about having some warranty work on a recent A/C repair. The tech had a mechanic over to take a look, and told me afterwards that the warranty work would take about an hour. I made an appointment early in the day the following week, and got there promptly at 8am. It took a long time to get my truck in the shop, and after about an hour of waiting, the mechanic came in and asked, when did I have the A/C work done? because they couldn't find it in the computer. They finally found the work, and approximately another hour later, they came in with a part that they suggested replacing that hadn't been replaced before, and said they would replace the faulty parts that were installed previously. I ended up in the waiting room for over four hours for the warranty repairs and one half hour of diagnostics, so I was frustrated about the lack of communication about what was going on and how long it was going to take. When the mechanic finally came to get me to pay, they told me that Freon was not warrantied, and that the shop had covered one pound of the replacement, but they still expected me to pay for a half pound. To be clear, the original work was replacing a hose and the Freon that was lost from that repair, and the part that was replaced on the date of the warranty was not suggested to be replaced at the time of the original work. I understand, if I have my system charged with Freon and it leaks out because of a defective part I haven't had replaced...that's a different story. But to expect me to pay for replacing Freon that leaked out due to a defective part...that they were providing a warranty replacement for? Not acceptable. At the end of the visit, I did not have to pay for the Freon, but I'm really feeling dubious about returning to Express after this experience. Not to mention that the assistant manager was going to walk right by me when I got there that morning without even saying hello or good morning. I had to pointedly say to them, I have an appointment, who do I need to talk to? Disappointing to say the least. I tried to do a survey for the company but got a message that the survey had already been done, but it hadn't, and I don't feel like a call to Bobby is going to help. read more

This was my go-to shop for many years. The on-site manager was a good guy and a good person. He was very knowledgeable about the industry and cars. I have visited 3 times in the last 4 weeks. Two of the visits have caused me to find a new auto shop in the area. I was on-site Saturday at 8 AM and turned away for assistance. I had a scheduled appointment and they found nothing wrong with my A/C but decided to perform $112 of service after stating the check was fine. This type of behavior is a turn-off for me. We recently took our third vehicle in for service that we've trusted Express with. All the guys who work there are consistently friendly, knowledgeable, fast, and don't upsell us. They have no problem telling us we don't need a particular service or we can wait six months for it, as an example. We've had Josh replace brake pads on an suv and truck, and he is awesome. On my previous reviews, I had purchased two tires from Lambs. The first one broke six months later and the second one is tearing apart now. There was no way, I was going back to get ripped off again. So last Saturday, I stopped by Express to ask about tires. They do not carry stock of tires but orders them and has them the next day. Michael took the time to look at my tires, talk to me about my budget, and recommended good tires with a low price tag. I told him I would be back next Saturday to get them put on and to have my timing checked. Michael also took me on a tour of the place and introduced me to all of the staff. As the week rolled by, I found I had a flat upon leaving work on Thursday. I used my small portable air compresser to re-inflate my tire. It was a rough ride home, where my car would shimmy if I went faster than 50 MPH. So I revised my plans and went in on Friday. The two Service bays were full so I would have to wait. So I took the opportunity to get my oil changed in the Oil change bays. After the oil change was completed, they moved my car in front of one of the service bays. Shortly after, Michael came in and apologized that I had to wait. He was trying to finish up one car so mine would get in next. A little while later, Neil, the owner comes in and apologizes for the wait and asked me if I want some coffee. I waited a bit longer, no issues as I had the remote control and TV to myself and I was watching Anthony Bourdain - No resevations in Argentina. The show kept me entertained until they showed a young bull getting castrated. Yes, they showed the large knife cutting off his balls, then skewering them to cook for lunch. I changed the channel. Michael came in again to say I was next. Boy, was I grateful. Twenty minutes later, I was on my way home. They did not try to upsell me. They were fast and friendly. Their prices were reasonable. The actual oil change was fine I guess. That said, there were issues with the experience. Two people (the one directing me to the stall and the person doing the oil change) quoted me a price. When I was handed the bill it was for $30 more than the quote. When I asked WTF, I was told that my vehicle was a large truck and required more oil than the standard vehicle. They both were standing right next to my "large truck" when they quoted me the incorrect price. Right next to the 5.6L emblem on the side of the truck. Also a lot of items on the list of things they claimed the truck needed were just assumed, such as listing things "overdue" when they didn't ask or have any way of knowing when it was done last. Some had been done recently. Just a grab for extra work. So you'll get your oil changed, but it's buyer beware on price and what they tell you. read more

$1000 OIL CHANGE!!! Have you ever paid $1000 for an oil change? I did at Express Oil Change. I brought my Infiniti in for an oil and filter change. Then dropped it off with my (extremely competent, but pricey) mechanic for some scheduled break work. The next day my mechanic calls to tell me the breaks are done but "who does your oil changes?". I tell them I had it done at Express Oil Change the day before. They brought me in and showed me how the oil plug had been over-torqued and resulted in compromising the threads on the oil pan. It will no longer tighten to the proper torque and will no longer hold oil at pressure. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I paid Express Oil Change $90 to break my oil pan. Seriously, changing oil is literally your business but your employees are not properly trained to do something as simple as properly tighten the oil plug?? To make matters worse, I had plans to travel the following day for the holidays but had to rent a car, at a premium price. I have not included that in the itemized price list bellow. ZERO STARS. $90 Oil change from Express Oil Change $100 New oil change from my mechanic $750 Install new oil pan and plug On a related note, their automatic car wash is also zero stars. I used to have a monthly subscription to use their car wash but 30% of the time I drove it up there it was "closed for maintenance". When it was working, it was typically filled with debris, likely blown out of the back of pickup beds, but since they would only clean it up every couple of days, it likely just blew around in the wash and causing minor damage to the paint. After several attempts to express my concerns, I was met with "here let me take your number and our manager will give you a call". That never happened. I cancelled the monthly pass after two years. I have a suspicion all the positive reviews are fake/paid for. AVOID THIS BUSINESS. IT WILL COST YOU $$$$ read more

With COVID, I stayed in the car and which was a new experience. The inspection was done quickly and well. At the end of the service, i was given a coupon for a free car wash next door. I have come here many time and always had a good experience. Today however, they told me that my wiper blades just barely passed inspection and recommended I get new ones. They are 4 days old... literally just put them on when I got new tires. I double checked them now and they still feel brand new. For an oil change apparently, you can't make an appointment, cars line up outside in line. The Monday I went they were down a tech, so I came back the next day. The service was fast and friendly. I do appreciate the fact they didn't try to oversell any services. But it was costly almost $80, granted no coupon and I got Valvoline Max Life, but still.
