I'm crazy in love with ceviche and I had to give this place a try. Most places over-seasoned their ceviche and made it too salty or too sour. I ordered classic ceviche with tilapia and it didn't disappoint. It was quite good (although the portion could be a bit bigger for $15 a plate entree). I really wanted to try their lomo saltado. Maybe next time. Don't skip dessert. Their flan was delicious too! read more

This is the type of place I like. Most of the Peruvian places you find just focus on chicken or lomo saltado. This place has all kinds of dishes I've never seen before. It's hidden in a strip mall in Great Falls next to the Old Brogue. Not really what you'd expect to find is WASPville. The staff was super nice and helpful. I got the mixed fried seafood, poor mans steak, mussels, some mango soda and a gelato to polish it all off. I love all the sauces lime wedges they give you makes everything that much better. Peruvian Chicken is delicious, but on holiday in Peru I learned the cuisine is much more than that. Pio Pio does a great job on many dishes, try something other than the chicken. You'll see what I mean. read more

We found this place by accident and ordered takeout one evening? We ordered the Mahi mahi Ceviche (w/ no sweet potato) and whole chicken with cilantro lime rice and plantains. This was great! The servers were soo nice and attentive! Not to mention our food came soo quick! and we were soo hungry so it was perfect. Also Pet-Friendly! Hands down the best Peruvian restaurant I have ever been to. Danny the owner is personable and inviting, every dish in this place has his signature. What stood out most for us was the Peruvian bites for starters which my girlfriend described as pockets of heavenly delicious surprise. The Lomo Saltado is beyond description and a must try. We've been here several times since they opened in the heart of GF Village and I'm happy they are here for another quick bite option. That said, the prices are a bit higher than normal if I were to go over to the Reston Peruvian chicken spots and the portions are on the smaller side. The chicken is good but my new go to is the chicken burrito. I believe they use the seasoned peruvian chicken meat and the seasoned rice they use makes for a tasty burrito beyond the usual. It seems to get a bit slow in the evenings so the food may have been sitting around for a while...just an observation so keep that in mind... read more

Looking for a pet-friendly patio after a hike in Great Falls with our dog, we tried Pio Pio. We ordered two half chicken (white meat) meals which each came with two sides, plus a ceviche and three desserts (no drinks) for $53 plus tip. The chicken was gigantic. Sauces were flavorsome. The alfajores were a little dry but still good. The mousses were great. Friendly service even for a non-Spanish speaker like me. We dined on the patio so our dog could sit out with us. read more

Poi Poi Peruvian Cuisine restaurant was able to meet my expectations and then to exceed them. There are many choices of delicious foods and even more choices for the drinks, with few drinks that may quite expend the borders of Peru - like Caipirinha. All the meats are marinated so you will always get very flavorful and soft meat. My Anticuchos (beef hearts) were on special ($6.99) and accompanied by Peruvian (strong) beer they made a true Peruvian meal. At the Peruvian festival (see review) I had anticuchos as well. The staff cares about their product and people. The food is wonderfully and transparently displayed. My beef hearts were great - soft like liver but with more agreeable taste. Tres Leches cake would take a gold medal for the softest spongy property and paired with appropriate sweetness is good enough reason to come back. Poi Poi restaurant offers many choices and I am looking forward to come back to try some other ones and get an excuse to get another Tres Leches. This place is to die for good! The Peruvian chicken comes with cilantro rice and beans. But you can choose other sides. It's finger licking delicious!! I've also gotten the ceviche and the lomo soltado which both were absolutely delicious. The restaurant has amazing service! Pío Pío is the place to go if you're around Great Falls. It's a hidden gem in Virginia. I got a good first impression when I saw corn served in a small bowl at the beginning, which is what they served at most, if not all the restaurant I went to when I was in Peru. I got a a lomo saltado and requested yuca instead of fries with the lomo saltado. The meat was juicy and fresh and well prepared. They had two different sauces and they were both delicious. I also got to try their different sides, the fries, sweet plantains, rice, and all were amazing. In addition to the great food, the service was excellent. The lady was very friendly, approachable and answered all our questions and made great suggestions of things on the menu. I ended up trying their flan, which was good as well. Initially I wanted to try the choco-flan, but they didn't have it this time. I'll make sure to get it next time! read more

A friend recommended this place and he was absolutely right about the amazing food served at this restaurant. I had a arroz con mariscos and a leche de tigre and it was fresh and delicious. We saw the reviews and figured we'd try it. So I went to pick up our orders. It was excellent. We both got half a chicken (leftovers for lunch) my hubby got fries and rice & beans. I opted for the fajita veggies and plantains. We were both happy with our choices. Hubby said the fries were good, not omg but he liked that they weren't overly salted. The rice&beans were great and nice flavor. My fajita veggies were tasty and the plantains were great. The seasoning on the chicken was excellent! There was a slice I couldn't place but it added a really good flavor. We split a flan for dessert. Mmmm my inner fat kid was so happy. Rich and delicious, not thin watery custard. This was thick and creamy. I almost wanted to grab my husband's back. Next time no sharing we each get one. The one star is for the service and the way I was treated at this restaurant. A friend of mine recommend me this place, and I decided to take my girlfriend to spend a nice evening. When I arrived the door was locked, but the sign said that they were open from 11 am to 9 pm. We rang the bell for service, and this lady with bleach blond hair came over use and said "we close at 8!" With a really bad tone. I let that go, but then once we were being seated she said "over there! Sit over there!" And as she was walking away she said "what misfortune" with her peculiar nasty tone. This type of employee are just poison for your business. We decided to leave so this person could leave home. I get it, we all want to spend time with family, but we also need to respect each other. This woman should be reprehend and coached on customer service, and if she doesn't like it then she can work in the kitchen where she doesn't have to interact with people. read more

After coming back from Peru a couple of weeks ago, I was excited to see Aji de gallina on the menu in Great Falls, Virginia of all places- which was one of the dishes I loved in its motherland. I am a sucker for creamy and spicy, yellowish looking sauces but what happens when you combine creamy and spicy into one Yellow Sea of goodness??? You have Huancaina!!! I decided to get Papa a La Huancaina which is boiled potatoes with this incredible pepper sauce smothered on top. I swear I just want to bathe in this sauce every day. If my shower had Huancaina sauce coming out of it tomorrow I would not complain (although my coworkers might). I have to come back and try to Aji de gallina and the linguine with Huancaina sauce. The chicken was OK. We had the chocolate flan and it was extremely dry and the flan with the chocolate cake were not a great combination. The woman that worked there tried overcharging us without a notification or a menu notice. She was so rude. We won't be going back. There are so many other great Peruvian places in the area. I am Peruvian and this is by far the best Peruvian restaurant in the area. This is my 4th time here and everything I've had it's delicious. I highly recommended the Peruvian bites. I recommend everything but the Peruvian bites are my favorite. Algarrobo a is a Peruvian drink and my mom makes it the best, however, theirs is just like my mom's. First, I enjoy trying different Peruvian restaurants when I find them. Pio Pio has good tasting food, however, it's too expensive for the portion sizes. As a fan of authentic Peruvian food, I expected a delicious meal at a reasonable price. The wait time on take out was much longer than I expected. It seemed a bit unorganized when I was waiting in line for food while people were eating all around me. It has more potential in a place like Great Falls. read more
