We returned to Autentico after many years and were not disappointed! There is nothing like the food here on Long Island. We throughly enjoyed everything we ordered. I really appreciate that there are always vegan options for each course and love that the menu is seasonal. The whole experience is beyond enjoyable here. Newsday review was correct. Quaint Italian Restaurant In Oyster Bay. Don't bother to look at the menu ahead of time you won't find it on line. They have a handwritten menu since the food does change frequently. It was our 1st visit to Autentico. Our table was reserved & we were promptly seated. The Waiter had a wonderful sense of humor. We started off with Salad,Crab Cocktail,tomato & mozzarella and quesadilla which were all amazing. Dinner we had Lasagna, Pappardelle & Eggplant With Ricotta stuffed spaghetti everything was delicious. We ended our meal with the Lava cake. The only negative is that the air conditioner could be higher & the noise could be less. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Food is extraordinary. Very Authentic Sicilian dishes. Chef is a master in his field. All his dishes are so carefully designed and full of flavors. If you are a foodie, this is a must try place. Service was a little off the night we went. We are definitely going to give it another try. I really wanted to check this place out over the last few years, but never got around to it because I've been very pleased with Angelina's for my Italian "fix". Well, last week I was in the unusual position of having dinner at Angelina's on Monday evening and needed another place to go on Saturday, so I booked a table at Autentico. Talk about an embarrassment of riches! This spot felt like walking into a well-appointed Italian kitchen in the 'old country ', and the service was informal, friendly and excellent. The food-' oh my'-- the food was absolutely fantastic! The branzino, served over grilled asparagus was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The paparedelle bolognese was the freshest pasta I've eaten since my grandmother passed away thirty years ago! The clams oreganata were perfectly prepared, and the desserts were truly epic! The small, aptly named 'Autentico ' is a gem in every respect. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to taste why Italian food has captured the hearts of people for generations. read more

This is hands down the best authentic Sicilian-Italian cuisine on Long Island. Elegant food in a beautiful little restaurant. From the hand written menu to the wine and desserts, this place is incredible. I had the Filet Mignon which was cooked & seasoned perfectly & my girlfriend had the swordfish. Now I am not very big on seafood, but I could not get over how DELICIOUS this fish was! I would go back alone just for that! Like many other reviews with one star, the disappointment is not with the food but with the service . We were the only table and it was our first night there. Important to note that many Italians don't know ( or care ) that the customers can hear and understand different dialects - be careful when you're speaking about a table . We eat out all of the time - we've never been served a 2 ounce glass of wine and expected to pay $14 for it- when I questioned the size of the pour and was told it was well more than 6 ounces I decided to just ask for a bottle - long story short - the server wouldn't take the glass and give me a bottle or just give me the bottle - she said I'm going to charge you for the 2 ounce pour and a bottle - I said that was wrong and not good business practice and I decided to not buy the bottle . When it was time to pay, the server didn't care , I explained that I myself was a server for 8 years and that her response made us not want to return - the other server said there was nothing wrong with the food just the wine and that other places would do the same - I quickly replied not Stellina's, a beautiful Italian restaurant down the block and they both said that that's not a Sicilian restaurant, their restaurant is different and i couldn't believe what was just said - I'm Sicilian ...what an insult , that Sicilians are not as hospitable when it comes to serving people apparently ...they do not know what needs to be done to keep a good customer and acted aloof when I said I'm writing a review . I didn't drink that 2 ounce pour and left it for them . Asked to speak to the owner who was the chef and he refused to come out (speaks volumes ). Second time coming to Autentico and it was delicious!!!! I absolutely love this restaurant. My boyfriend and I got the meat platter, which was perfect. I got a limoncello martini. We both got the butternut squash ravioli, if you're not a fan of sage though, this dish is not for you. And our desserts were amazing!! I will say that service is a little slow but that doesn't bother myself or my boyfriend we were in no rush. A little patience for excellent food is all it takes. Definitely recommend getting an appetizer, entree, and dessert when coming here because you won't want to miss any of it. read more

A first visit intended to be followed by many more - but you blew it, Autentico. If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. No thought was put into the acoustics, as the restaurant is designed with tiled floors, hard walls, hard metal tables without tablecloths, and a tiled ceiling. There is no wood, fabric, or carpeting to absorb sound. A greasy spoon's decor has more forethought. I can't remember going to a place, ever, that was as loud as Autentico. There was no possibility of holding a conversation, so we just cringed at the noise, ate silently, and left promptly. During our first (and last) visit we were seated in the main area shared by a table of eight obnoxious, foul mouthed patrons who spent the night dropping F-bombs, seeing who could scream the loudest and clapping after every profane comment. These people belonged in a drunken backyard barbecue party. The restaurant did little to quell the noise and hush the profanity, and it was apparent that every other patron could not wait to get dinner over with so they could leave. Management had every opportunity to take control, shut the noise down, and put this unkempt group in the rear of the restaurant and away from other patrons, but instead, it let the night proceed like a frat party gone wild. I guess that placating the party of eight loudmouths was more important than ensuring a pleasant experience for the other five tables who fast-tracked their meals in the one hour period that we were there and left hurriedly. Not an apology or even a visit from the owner or manager during our meal. To boot, food was lackluster. The green salad with avocado was an oily mess of chopped iceberg lettuce with two bite size pieces of avocado. The papardella with bolognese was edible, plain, and a bit sweet, yet the eggplant parmigiana was a tiny, round small serving of mushy eggplant swimming in sauce, each ingredient not discernible from the next, and difficult to eat given the shape of the small pot in which it was cooked. While I had no desire to prolong my visit, to combat the atmosphere, I ordered two glasses of overpriced (and very underpoured) Pinot Noir. It could not improve the ambiance. You'd think that given the circumstances and the displeasure that all patrons were visibly showing, management would have 'comped' some portion of the meal or offered a free dessert or take the wine off the bill, but - no - were were delivered a full bill with zero apology or compensation for an expensive and stressful dining experience. Autentico - you lost a frequent diner. We dine out five nights a week and were really looking forward to finding a nice, reasonable Italian restaurant with a warm atmosphere that we could go to once a week. Your prices are 50% higher than than what they should be for comparable food elsewhere, and the ambiance is downright awful and unbearable. We'll give our patronage to PortoFino, Joanina, Sal D's, Primo Piatto, and Angelo's where we'll be paying a fraction of the price to eat in a safe, comfortable environment and will be treated like valued clients. read more

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Autentico on Saturday night. We were here years ago and enjoyed it, but somehow haven't been back in a while. What a pleasant surprise. We were craving a dinner like one we would have had in Italy and Autentico delivered! The service was excellent. The piadina was perfect and the appetizer special of fresh figs and prosciutto was delicious. Even though we were full, we found room for the homemade pasta - spaghetti with vongole for me, the pasta with octopus special for my husband. Both were terrific. Had dinner last night with my daughter. We sat outside as it was a great night. The chef has a new fall menu which has a nice variety of items from apps, pasta, meat along with Vegan and Gluten free options. I had a risotto with gorganzola and asparagus that was fabulous.
