I hired them to find me a new car on 12/22 - a Subaru outback XT with a specific color, interior and trim line. I figured that being 'experts' in this they would be able to find the specific car and secure a good price. I explained to my rep Angela that I was willing to travel anywhere in the state if needed for price and availability especially since there are more Subaru dealers in NoCal. After all, car search and buying is done Online these days and what's a cheap, short flight to get the right deal? I realize the holidays and Covid, etc. but 16 days later on Friday January 8th I finally hear back from Angela. Found ONE car that I was looking for in transit to a SoCal dealer. She wasn't sure if the interior color was right and forgot about many of the options I requested. Price was $36,871 and it would take a month to arrive. Wow, was this such a hard car to find? Only one and one 'okay' price with such incomplete info? Over the weekend I wondered how much 'work' was really put into finding and securing this deal so I decided to search myself. Using Cars.com and True Car I was able to find EIGHT of the vehicle I EXACTLY wanted ready and in stock. It took me 30 minutes. One of the offers would have me go up to San Jose but was offering the car for $700 LESS than what Authority Auto had 'negotiated' -I didn't even haggle the price yet. I went up there on a $50 flight and purchased the car -no problems. Saved more money, exact car I wanted and no long wait. My take away, try to find the car yourself because Authority Auto certainly isn't trying very hard to find it for you (or pushing for a better deal). For the service I received the $200 initial fee is a complete rip off - especially since it took me 30 minutes to find 8 of the cars I was looking for myself. Auto Authority - the best. Vincent is awesome. I've now purchased three vehicles with Auto Authority over the last twelve years. A 2012 BMW 3 series through BMW's Euro Pickup/Delivery program, a 2015 Subaru Forester and now a 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Each purchasing experience had its own challenges. The BMW was more involved because it was a custom order and involved the euro delivery. The Subaru was pretty uneventful. I bought one more car, an Acura, on my own and it was pretty uneventful and I did OK (after spending am afternoon haggling and almost walking out of the dealer several times). But then came the 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid: very difficult to find the exact trim and colors we wanted especially because the way Toyota does things (eg you can't custom order, they have sort of like a lottery systems where vehicles get allocated to dealers). I tried on my own for months and no luck. I did strike a deal with a dealer that promised to find the exact trim and colors I wanted after a $500 deposit. That was more than three months ago. I did not put my eggs in one basket and so I decided to reach out to Auto Authority. Vincent scoured all the north east Toyota dealers until he found exactly what we were looking for and more from a dealer located near my home town in Western NY (I now live in Florida). He liaised throughout the entire process with all parties involved, eg., dealer, financing and transport company, handled all the details and communications, kept me informed, always responsive, knowledgeable (just "gets it") and just a pleasure to work with. Auto Authority is the best and I've always had such a great experience working with them. The value is undeniable.
