My air conditioning unit went out I had another company come and look at it and they let me know that it was time to replace. They did not charge me for the service I had them give me an estimate, it was great and I had planned on going with them after my 5th quote, them a very wonderful person Patrick who had recommended a company and it was the highest, so he asked me to call Dave at Authortiy I was pleasantly surprised to get the lowest quote and Devin and Costa (hope I didn't mess your name up to bad) were awesome. First, they installed a furnace and some ducting in my home previously. Each time there as a bit of a phone snafu but their workers were really great. I had a problem with my furnace in February. They came and checked it out. I paid them a little money. At that time, I signed up for their "Club" membership. I shouldn't have. I incurred a lot of frustration. All of it with customer service. The "Authority Club" costs a nominal monthly fee. Every six months my air conditioner and furnace would be serviced. But when I signed up I was not given all the details. Among other things, I wrongly assumed they would service the pertinent equipment when the seasons changed. In fact, that is the only way I have ever understood how a system should be serviced. This led to some confusion on my part. By June I still hadn't been serviced. I called. They said I set it up in February so they would do my service in August and in February another service. I explained I wanted it serviced in October and April. They said they could have someone come out (it was June) but if I wanted to change it for the seasons they couldn't do that a that time. I would have to call them back in October to make that change. Baffled, I said I would. Of course, October came and I was wondering why nobody had called to set an appointment. I had forgotten that I was supposed to call them (which still seems baffling to me). I called. Told the person what was going on. He was confused. Put me on hold three times. Then told me he was transferring me to someone who would take care of me. Dandy. The new person had no idea who I was or why I was calling. So I went through it all again. It was frustrating and I was late for a meeting. But I didn't want to go through this again. Though she would make an appointment she first felt the need to hash everything out. And seemed to need to come out in the right. Whatever 'right' meant. I got the appointment set after nearly losing my ever-loving mind and twenty minutes... For an appointment for seasonal maintenance on my HVAC for crying out loud! But the appointment was set. So, I'm working. And I get an 801 call. I hesitantly decide to take it. Bad idea. It's the Authorities! I mean...it's the head guy at 'Authority'. He spoke most of the time, like a parent talks to a child. For almost a quarter hour. He had a lot of words to say to me. Apparently I came off too strong on the last phone call and the person I spoke with didn't like it. I told him I didn't like it either. I mean...how do you think the customer feels? I felt like he was trying to teach me a lesson. When he was done with the reprimand, he then felt the need to explain all the things the previous person was telling me. I let him go on and on. In the process, he told me he listened to all the phone calls I had made throughout the months with them. I WAS SHOCKED. Not because I had said anything wrong...but because when calling them there is nothing that tells you they are recording the call. And yes, Utah is a one-party consent state like most states...but most companies at least let you know they are recording you. After he had his say, I had mine. I understood where he was coming from. I get that employees work hard, that they do their best, that people and companies are fallible (including me). What I didn't get was after both he and his employee talked down to me I never got a "we are sorry for the inconvenience and we are taking care of it." Instead, I felt like I was the bad guy. That I had done something wrong. And fine, I probably came on strong. I was frustrated. Most of the frustration came with how the customer was being serviced. So I said if you don't want me as a customer, that's fine. If you want to keep the appointment, that's fine. Up to you. He decided to not want me as a customer. And then began telling me how sorry he was. And THAT went on for a little bit. Sorry? Sorry for what, exactly? For not having good customer service? Bad communication? The ability to take one (a small one) for the team? Nope. Maybe he was sorry that he wouldn't be getting my money? That he had to give some back? Or maybe he was just sorry that I didn't act how he wanted me to. "Authority" Heating and Cooling should maybe change its name to: "Authoritarian". read more

I have had two issues with my furnaces both my rental and personal home. Both times Nate came out and took care of the issuers. With my rental I had to monitor Nate due my tenants, and Nate was so thorough going so far as finding future issues and correcting them before my ac unit would have died. My personal home my fan motor wasn't working and my mother board was sending weird codes, I let Nate in and went back to work. He came back and reported two concerns which I was expecting and said he was going to correct one to see if it fixes both problem before he charging us unnecessary fixes. He was right the first fix corrected the second issue. I won't go anywhere else. This is the most honest and affordable hvac company I have ever worked with. read more
