I hate to write this review, but it's needed. Short story- the car keeps breaking down & I was left stranded in another state, which I still don't have my car back after 45 days due to ongoing mechanical issues. Auto house is NOT who you want to purchase from. Trust me. The long version- In Feb of 2023 I bought a Jeep from the dealership, a car I have wanted as long as I can remember. The process of getting the car was fine but that evening after purchasing it I noticed some red flags, things like the hard top didn't sound like it was on all the way & things like the "touch screen radio" they advertised didn't work at all. The dealership did try to look at these things but ultimately found nothing wrong. The very next day, not even 24 hours after, I decided I wanted my original car back because I didn't trust this jeep. They said they can't do that. Legally they didn't have to, but ethically after one day, they should have. As time went on I found out that the radio is only compatible with android phones & had no way of connecting except with wifi, I was told I would need to replace it to use apple car play for music or GPS. The roof in fact was NOT on, because it was missing parts. I fixed that by purchasing the parts. Weird things started to come out of the vents, like sticks of incense. This has me asking "did they even look at this car before selling it???" The car squeaks & screeches over any & all bumps. The brakes squeal & I emailed about this just after I bought it, no response on that. Have to hit them so hard to stop the car. About 60 days after my purchase date my car over heated on my way home from school & I had to bring it in to be serviced. One of the MAIN points I stressed to this dealer is I am in my last year of nursing school, I need something reliable, I go to hospitals all over the valley. The service manager said "Wow its barely been 60 days" when I had it fixed. Paid the deductible & moved on. Well, on July 5th 2023 my car overheated AGAIN while I was in Elko, Nevada for my father in laws funeral. I was stranded in the middle of nowhere, no way to get to Salt Lake (closest airport) & I had a nursing clinical in one day. This was an unexpected funeral but I was confident my car would get me there & back safe. I was WRONG. This not only cost me so much time, stress & money in a time of grief; it's almost October & I am still without a car because they are seeing all kinds of red flags at this mechanic shop, who are two very kind and reliable women that I actually trust. Interesting that this wasn't mentioned when serviced at AutoHouse? When I emailed the service manager he pretty much said that's terrible, best of luck. I truly believe that this car was sold to me knowing there were major issues & this is why they didn't want to take it back. I am terrified to drive this car back to Arizona from Nevada. I am scared to even bring it into the desert because what if I get stranded again? This isn't a normal feeling to have with a vehicle that's meant to be taken off roading & should definitely be able to handle a 12 hour drive. If you are in a season of your life where purchasing a car is less about reliability, I think auto house is fine. If you are looking for something honest & reliable, look elsewhere. Look at dealerships that are confident enough to guarantee their cars, not just get them out of their possession. There is a reason people hate buying cars, things like this happen. I question the honesty & integrity of this dealership. Is it worth the money to do bad business? It must be. The person who sold me this car doesn't even work here anymore so I think this says a lot. Thank you Auto House. I hope nobody treats your daughters the way you've treated me. Update: Auto house had to shut down a location for "sketchy" and unethical behavior. They also claimed they did none of the above mentioned when I reported them to the BBB. I was without the car for over 3 months and it has ongoing electrical issues and more. It caught fire inside the cab of the car.

Ask the Community - Auto House Tempe

Has anyone bought a car from them, brought it in for problems within 10 days and had trouble getting them to fix it?

Nope! One of my 5 cars purchased had a belt issue- totally weird fluke. They fixed it right away and at no expense to me. All of the other cars I have purchased have zero issues!

However, I didn't experience any of that here at a "A lot of cars". First, I never felt hassled. I found the car I liked through my banking app that uses truecar car buying app which automatically sent my contact info to the owner when I clicked to see the exact pricing. The owner called and I told him I'm just browsing. That was not a problem, he was quick to offer a text with the car info and that he would leave me be and to reach out to him if I wanted to look at the car or any others. I really appreciated that, especially after getting harassed by other dealerships that will continue to call and text you. Second, we showed up and were treated like VIPs, we were quickly able to checkout the vehicle we wanted and it was completely detailed and ready to go. We got to test drive it where ever in the area to ensure we got to see the handling of it. Third, the vehicle condition! I was a little concerned with the miles as I usually never purchase a vehicle With over a 100k but you could tell they took the time to ensure the car was looked over, lots of new parts, and it drove and still runs flawlessly. Fourth, the trade in and payment process was so easy and streamlined. Worked with the owner from start to finish and it took us about 45 mins tops! Part of it was my fault with recently getting married and half of my information I had changed my name but the other half didn't. It led to some confusion. Bonus! the website is kept up to date. When I showed up the car I wanted was there and every vehicle online was there. At the end of the day I was happy with the process and have even referred family.

They were super easy to work with and there seemed to be a lot of different selections. One thing to be very aware of is that most of the vehicles on their lots are "buybacks". This means that they are cheaper but they could be considered a lemon and it may be hard to sell or have some issues that come down the road. Of course, there could be nothing wrong with it as some states have very lenient return laws so that the buyback could be for the smallest thing. Just make sure you know what you're getting into as you look for your car here. Of course there's nothing wrong and nothing but. Just want to make sure proper information is provide for you yelpies!

I ended up looking at Hyundai Ioniq 5 N (yes the fast version) before stopping here for 2023 Genesis GV60 Performance. Let me just say, this is by far THE BEST experience. I was able to walk in (no appointment needed) and Christian M was able to help me right away. A quick ID scan and he came back just gave me the keys I'm like what?!? I'm not used to this level of customer service. He gave me quick directions for the test drive route and I was able to follow it step by step by myself. I say the only negative about this place is the lot, they have many vehicles and parking/spaces are limited. As for the vehicle, it was nice and I would jump on it if it wasn't a buyback (branded title) Now I already knew this vehicle is branded before stopping by. I wanted to see if I can find out more on the reason why it was a buyback other than charging issue. Sadly the paperwork didn't provide the additional info. Should you get a buyback? That really depends. The price is GREAT no doubt and if you plan on KEEPING the vehicle long term (as the resale value is a lot lower, do a quick check via CarMax or Carvana), don't mind dealing with potential electricial issues (but they should be cover under warranty) But knowing myself I usually don't keep vehicles longer than a few years. Also I would double check your insurance and make sure it doesn't cost extra. And at the time I haven't driven the Kia EV6 GT (the original vehicle I was looking at) so I ended up passing on this. Also wanted to point out they have the lowest Doc fee that I've ran into ($299) here vs other dealers wanted $699. No add-ons, title fee is $19. Very low sales pressure, extremely friendly staff, I would stop by again in the future when I'm looking for another vehicle.

I've been trying to purchase a Tacoma from Camelback Toyota because I've had good experiences with the dealership in the past, including buying my Tundra there. My family has also purchased several other vehicles over the years, including Lexus models from other dealerships, so I'm very familiar with the car-buying process. Unfortunately, this experience has been extremely disappointing due to the way Mike, one of the managers, handled the situation. Initially, Ryan had quoted me $4,500 for a lift and tire package. Later, when I spoke with Mike, he changed the price to $4,875. When I asked why the price was different, he said it was because this was a different truck. I explained that the truck shouldn't matter because I was simply purchasing the same lift and tire package. I also asked whether I could keep my original tires if I purchased the package. Mike told me no and said the original tires had to stay unless I paid an additional $600. This confused me because when I purchased a lift and tires through the same dealership in the past, I was allowed to keep my original tires at no extra charge. I mentioned that I had already called other shops and found the same setup for about $1,000 less, but we were still considering doing the work at the dealership to help protect the truck's warranty. When I bought my Tundra, I was told that installing a lift outside the dealership could potentially affect warranty coverage, so we were trying to stay loyal to Camelback Toyota despite the higher price. Things became worse after I told the salesperson that I wanted to speak directly with Ryan again to better understand why the pricing and terms had suddenly changed. Shortly after that, Mike sent me what I felt was a very rude and unprofessional text message. In the text, he accused me of not taking "small steps" while claiming he was "going miles" for me. He repeatedly brought up the MSRP price of the truck and implied that I couldn't afford it. To be clear, I understood we were negotiating. The truck was listed around $55,000, and I was trying to get closer to $49,000. Ryan had previously mentioned he could potentially do around $52,200, so we were still working through numbers. Negotiation is normal in car buying, but the way Mike handled it was disrespectful and unnecessary. My wife had already left a review a few weeks ago because she also felt Mike was rude during an earlier interaction. We were actually ready to walk away at that point, but we decided to give the dealership another chance because of our previous positive experiences there and because we wanted to continue doing business with them. Unfortunately, this second experience only made things worse. What's most frustrating is the inconsistency between managers. One manager tells us one thing, while another changes the pricing and conditions completely. On top of that, I've tried asking to speak with the general manager so I can show the text messages, discuss the pricing discrepancies, and explain our concerns directly, but no one has provided me with contact information or helped escalate the issue. At the end of the day, buying a truck is a major purchase for our family. We simply wanted transparency, professionalism, and fair treatment. Instead, we were met with aggressive behavior, conflicting information, and disrespectful comments. Camelback Toyota has a large inventory and plenty of opportunities to earn loyal customers, which is why it's disappointing to see behavior like this from management. I truly hope the general manager sees this review, addresses the situation, and takes steps to improve how customers are treated moving forward.

However, I am very disappointed with the level of expertise and outcome of the visit. My 2014 Jeep compass has had the check engine light on for a week, steering locked up last week, and has had delayed clicking start. Justin arrived, I gave him the full history of my vehicle (no problems for 10 years) and the issues occurring the last month or so which prompted the call. He started running tests, even drove the car around to see if he could replicate what I had been experiencing. About 30 minutes into the visit he said he couldn't replicate any of the issues; that's okay, as I mentioned it only happened about 50% of the time. But he sat in my car another 20-30 minutes or so, told me he had to call his boss because he was completely stumped. Not really what you want to hear, but even I started making suggestions of what it could be so he could at least do something for me. At the end of the visit he basically just said "sorry I have no idea what's wrong, maybe replace your battery?"... the only thing he found was a sensor on my engine needed replacement, but it's totally unrelated to the other issues. I ended up having to pay $150 for literally no better idea what's wrong with my car and not feeling any safer to drive it. It was a huge waste of my time and now I'm out $150, and I still had to take it to another shop that already figured out the problem not even 24 hours later. Save yourself some money and go to a real auto shop. I understand that some technicians may be learning or lack the knowledge to dive deeper, but someone should be going with them to assist so your customers aren't left feeling robbed and confused.
