I hate to write this review, but it's needed. Short story- the car keeps breaking down & I was left stranded in another state, which I still don't have my car back after 45 days due to ongoing mechanical issues. Auto house is NOT who you want to purchase from. Trust me. The long version- In Feb of 2023 I bought a Jeep from the dealership, a car I have wanted as long as I can remember. The process of getting the car was fine but that evening after purchasing it I noticed some red flags, things like the hard top didn't sound like it was on all the way & things like the "touch screen radio" they advertised didn't work at all. The dealership did try to look at these things but ultimately found nothing wrong. The very next day, not even 24 hours after, I decided I wanted my original car back because I didn't trust this jeep. They said they can't do that. Legally they didn't have to, but ethically after one day, they should have. As time went on I found out that the radio is only compatible with android phones & had no way of connecting except with wifi, I was told I would need to replace it to use apple car play for music or GPS. The roof in fact was NOT on, because it was missing parts. I fixed that by purchasing the parts. Weird things started to come out of the vents, like sticks of incense. This has me asking "did they even look at this car before selling it???" The car squeaks & screeches over any & all bumps. The brakes squeal & I emailed about this just after I bought it, no response on that. Have to hit them so hard to stop the car. About 60 days after my purchase date my car over heated on my way home from school & I had to bring it in to be serviced. One of the MAIN points I stressed to this dealer is I am in my last year of nursing school, I need something reliable, I go to hospitals all over the valley. The service manager said "Wow its barely been 60 days" when I had it fixed. Paid the deductible & moved on. Well, on July 5th 2023 my car overheated AGAIN while I was in Elko, Nevada for my father in laws funeral. I was stranded in the middle of nowhere, no way to get to Salt Lake (closest airport) & I had a nursing clinical in one day. This was an unexpected funeral but I was confident my car would get me there & back safe. I was WRONG. This not only cost me so much time, stress & money in a time of grief; it's almost October & I am still without a car because they are seeing all kinds of red flags at this mechanic shop, who are two very kind and reliable women that I actually trust. Interesting that this wasn't mentioned when serviced at AutoHouse? When I emailed the service manager he pretty much said that's terrible, best of luck. I truly believe that this car was sold to me knowing there were major issues & this is why they didn't want to take it back. I am terrified to drive this car back to Arizona from Nevada. I am scared to even bring it into the desert because what if I get stranded again? This isn't a normal feeling to have with a vehicle that's meant to be taken off roading & should definitely be able to handle a 12 hour drive. If you are in a season of your life where purchasing a car is less about reliability, I think auto house is fine. If you are looking for something honest & reliable, look elsewhere. Look at dealerships that are confident enough to guarantee their cars, not just get them out of their possession. There is a reason people hate buying cars, things like this happen. I question the honesty & integrity of this dealership. Is it worth the money to do bad business? It must be. The person who sold me this car doesn't even work here anymore so I think this says a lot. Thank you Auto House. I hope nobody treats your daughters the way you've treated me. Update: Auto house had to shut down a location for "sketchy" and unethical behavior. They also claimed they did none of the above mentioned when I reported them to the BBB. I was without the car for over 3 months and it has ongoing electrical issues and more. It caught fire inside the cab of the car.

What a great selection of used cars auto house

Ask the Community - Auto House Tempe

Has anyone bought a car from them, brought it in for problems within 10 days and had trouble getting them to fix it?

Nope! One of my 5 cars purchased had a belt issue- totally weird fluke. They fixed it right away and at no expense to me. All of the other cars I have purchased have zero issues!

He was on time, professional, and clearly knew what he was doing. He explained everything in a way that made sense, didn't try to upsell anything unnecessary, and made sure the job was done right. My A/C is now blowing cold again like it should, and the car is running perfectly. You can tell he takes pride in his work and cares about doing a quality job. On top of that, the convenience of him coming to me saved a lot of time and hassle. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone looking for reliable and honest mobile mechanic work.

However, I am very disappointed with the level of expertise and outcome of the visit. My 2014 Jeep compass has had the check engine light on for a week, steering locked up last week, and has had delayed clicking start. Justin arrived, I gave him the full history of my vehicle (no problems for 10 years) and the issues occurring the last month or so which prompted the call. He started running tests, even drove the car around to see if he could replicate what I had been experiencing. About 30 minutes into the visit he said he couldn't replicate any of the issues; that's okay, as I mentioned it only happened about 50% of the time. But he sat in my car another 20-30 minutes or so, told me he had to call his boss because he was completely stumped. Not really what you want to hear, but even I started making suggestions of what it could be so he could at least do something for me. At the end of the visit he basically just said "sorry I have no idea what's wrong, maybe replace your battery?"... the only thing he found was a sensor on my engine needed replacement, but it's totally unrelated to the other issues. I ended up having to pay $150 for literally no better idea what's wrong with my car and not feeling any safer to drive it. It was a huge waste of my time and now I'm out $150, and I still had to take it to another shop that already figured out the problem not even 24 hours later. Save yourself some money and go to a real auto shop. I understand that some technicians may be learning or lack the knowledge to dive deeper, but someone should be going with them to assist so your customers aren't left feeling robbed and confused.

Rob has also given me a ride home and picked me up when my car was ready. He has never left me stranded. He sees me in an instant, so I know when he says swing by and I'll take a look, I know there's no waiting and his answer is honest, accurate, and knowledgeable. I first met Rob after a failed smog check, I drove from car shop to car shop looking for estimates and i was getting discouraged and frustrated. I know I must have looked pathetic when I walked into his door .. exasperated and desperate. This is perfect opportunity to take advantage of a woman driving a car, but he did not! Rob listened to my problem and asked me to pop the hood. I began to panic about prices because of my last 4 stops before him with upwards near 80-200 to simply look at my car. Rob said just pop the hood. He looked for a moment said wait a minute... left and came back. He wiped his hands off and said you are good to go.. I said.. what do I owe you? He said come back when you need your car repaired. No charge. What other shops were trying to charge me for was a blown fuse that was preventing my car from passing emissions. My next visit to R & L ended after a frantic phone call. I was on my way to pick my daughter up from school, I was in tears. My car stopped over in Scottsdale for no apparent reason, and No, it wasn't out of gas. I struggled with a tow fee to Rob's way on the other side of town or a free tow to somewhere local. I called Rob, I told him I needed my car in the worst way for daily trips to and from school and that I wasn't sure if I should have it towed there or locally... he said send it over, he'd work with me.. He fixed my car. I gave him what I could on the bill and he wished me well. Next visit was about a year later.. I needed to get my brakes and several other things done. I told Rob I had $1000.00 to work with and I know in my heart of hearts it was a whole lot more that was done to my car but my bill was only $990.00 I gave him a 100.00 Tip for not dragging me through the ringer... I saw him knock money off my bill and cut corners where possible. My next trip was after my car's radiator exploded alongside the road. For 2 weeks, my car was overheating. I was not financially able to do much about the situation. I stopped by autozone and bought this copper stuff that expanded and filled holes in the radiator. It didn't work at all my car was still overheating terribly bad and it was to the point where I was driving about 30 seconds, and waiting for 2 hours for my car to cool... this went on the whole day one day... I just watched my car billow smoke and I drove. I called Rob. He said get it towed don't drive it. I had it towed to his place. I had been driving on a cracked radiator for several days possibly those 2 weeks. He also found my radiator cap between my radiator and my fan. Rob replaced my radiator inexpensively and again got me back on the road asking me to call him and not make my own solutions to these problems. **I can be difficult** I recently needed to see Rob again regarding my emissions testing. It was again a quick fix - I'm hard on fuses - I told Rob when I can afford to get my air conditioner fixed I'll be by to see him again. He has my business. Fast, knowledgeable, fair, kind, and a decent honest mechanic... he's never left me stranded. Thanks Rob for all you do. I appreciate your kindness and hard work.
