This business is very thorough. As they examine your car, they take photos of everything they see and text or email them to you. I was helped by George. He explained all the repairs in detail to me as we went over the photos and provided me a ride with Ruffy back to my home while the repairs were being done. The next day, they had Ruffy (who is also very nice) pick me up at my home and take me back to get my car. George said they would text me every time a maintenance service comes due so I can keep up with it. I am very pleased with the service and the way my car has been repaired. I highly recommend Auto Max on FM 1464. They literally had to fix the $2800 mess that Garage Guys in Richmond made to our car. I would not recommend Auto Maxx based on my experience with their lack of pricing transparency. I dropped off my vehicle for diagnostic service and was never given a quote or told the price beforehand. Only after they performed the service and I declined the additional repairs they recommended, was I told the diagnostic would cost $190. At that point, I was informed that I would have received a discount if I had agreed to the repair work. The invoice I received shows a line that says: "DIAG FEE DISCOUNTED W/ REPAIR -$89.95" -- but this conditional pricing was never explained to me before the diagnostic was done. No one made it clear that the diagnostic cost would be higher unless I approved more services. That kind of information should be disclosed up front -- not discovered at checkout. I was visibly upset and the staff apologized 3 times, but still charged me the full amount. Regardless of what's printed on the invoice after the fact, I never gave informed consent to a conditional pricing model I was unaware of. I have filed a dispute with my bank and reported this to the Better Business Bureau. Auto Maxx may complete the work, but their communication practices are unacceptable, and I would advise others to get everything in writing before authorizing any work. read more

SCAM DO NOT GO HERE !!!! I paid for a full diagnosis at Auto Max to tell me exactly what is wrong with the vehicle and what exactly would make it start as it was in crank/no start condition. The only information that was given to me to put my vehicle in start position was to replace the battery and starter. They gave me the inspection/invoice saying that the issue was with the starter and battery asked if I wanted them to do the work. I went with another technician and declined Elite Auto's offer because they were too expensive. I declined a Remove & Replace Battery for 369.64 as well as a Starter Replacement for $1,215.30. On the inspection there was a few other issues being that it's a used vehicle but it's nothing else that would put it in no start position according to another certified technician confirmed who completed the work that Elite Auto diagnosed. The certified technician I worked with completed the work that Elite Auto diagnosed and the vehicle is still doing the same exact thing that it was initially doing before I gotten diagnosed. I called Elite Auto 8/28 to try and come up with a solution after I found out that I was misdiagnosed when I paid for a diagnosis and also paid for unnecessary repairs that was provided to me by them stating that the repairs will put my vehicle in start position and it didn't. The manager refused to work with me because I didn't have them complete the work although all I paid for was a full service diagnostic that should tell me exactly what is wrong and he eventually hung up in my face. I called back and the Director answered I explained my concerns and told him that I repaired exactly what they told me would fix the issue and asked is he willing to work with me for the misdiagnosis by either simply finding out the correct issue. I didn't even ask for a refund even though I didn't receive the service I paid for from Elite Auto and both the manager and director wasn't being helpful they were actually acting as if I was in the wrong solely because I had someone else complete the recommendation repairs that was provided in the diagnosis. I paid for a brand new starter and paid labor fees to another certified technician who replaced it and what Elite Auto recommended never was the issue. I was charged for unnecessary nonexistent auto repairs after being charged by Elite Auto for a misdiagnosis. The manager gave me a detailed estimate of the work that will be done to get it up and running and those items weren't correct which means I gotten charged for a service (diagnosis) that was not completed/genuine. The repairs they recommended was never in need of a fix to put the vehicle in start condition not to mention they failed to properly diagnose the vehicle and ultimately refused to complete the service I paid for. Being that they were unable to work with me I plan on escalating this to the courts. The mechanic should be held liable for an improper diagnosis/unnecessary repairs in Texas if he/she recommend unnecessary repairs based on diagnosis. The diagnosis never was discounted they just honored what was said initially after trying to change the price once I decided not to go through with them. I have 4 cars that need state inspection, it took over 30 minutes for one and I didn't even finish all 4 cars. There's always a problem here, even when I went the previous year. Long wait and you will barely see any cars at this autoshop despite how spacious it is in the back. I paid for them ahead of time but despite paying ahead, the car inspections was never done. AutoMax has competitive prices. I recently called to get a few quotes to replace my wife's power steering pump in her 2005 Honda Odessey. After calling nine auto shops in the Richmond area, only 6 picked up the phone or returned my call for a price quote. Phil from Auto Max was one of the shops that answered my phone call with a price quote. The six quotes I received to replace the power steering pump ranged from $420 - $550 with the average being $480. The Auto Max was $487.58. So Auto Max has competitive prices for their work. I walked into the establishment one individual was in the managers office sitting across from the managers desk taking a personal phone call. Another individual was in the waiting room having a personal phone call. Eventually when they both got off the phone call they must've just been checking their phones because eventually they started having a conversation with one another from across the room while I was still standing in the middle of each other in front of the customer service desk waiting for either one of them to eventually acknowledge me and assist me. after five minutes of recognizing that they were not interested in providing me any service by not acknowledging me and asking if I'd been helped, I said to both of them 'thank you' before I left. They do unethical business. If I could give them a zero rating, I would. I've been coming here to get my state inspections for about a year now (with two alternating vehicles). Haven't had an issue with them prior to this incident. Went to go get my state inspection done. I was informed that my oil was low and needed to be changed. My car runs on synthetic oil and I usually get it changed every 8000 miles. It was at about 6,500 miles since the last oil change so I was thinking that it was still a bit early for one. I went to my regular auto shop and they told me that my oil was fine and was good for a few thousand miles more. So obviously you guys can see that the technician at Auto Max lied to me trying to get my business for the oil change when I didn't even need it just yet. read more

CUSTOMER BEWARE! Do not take your vehicle to this place for repair. I took my vehicle here for repair February 2022 due to oil leaking and my vehicle smoking. I paid AutoMax $2,600.83 to fix my vehicle. I had to take it back 2 more times for the same issue (03/03/2022 and 04/29/2022) and it's still not fixed. Thus, they did not fix my vehicle. They tried to tell me "Someone else touched your vehicle after us" because it has new parts and that my vehicle was now leaking oil from other places and not from the parts they replaced and/or repaired. I informed them "Why would I take my vehicle to another place if I wasn't having any issues and I had a year warranty on the parts they replaced?" I informed them that they owed me a refund because my vehicle still has the same issues that have not been resolved. They refused to give me a refund. This Organization has ripped me off and pretty much stolen my money! DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE FOR REPAIR! He constantly told me stuff on the car was repaired and when I went to check on the car there was so much stuff missing. Also he'll give you the run-around with pricing . I have had my Tacoma oil changed every 3 months here (around $26-27.00 per service). It had been a while with no problem. Actually one of the service manager there was once helpful when he told me how to fix a minor problem myself. That created my trust in the shop people there. 4 month ago, after a regular oil change a service manager told me that the front break pads had only 20% of life and the air filter needed to be replaced. I asked him how much for each service and was told that 189.99 for the front pad replacement and about 15-18.00 for the air filter. He also told me I could go to Walmart to buy the air filter for $8.00 or $10.00 and change it by myself. That also created in me more trust in them. However, a few days after that when I opened the hood to make sure I have enough water in both water containers I found out that both caps had not been close properly. On July 3rd, I brought my car there for regular oil change and front break pad replacement as well as air filter change as advised. The manager that day was Mr. Arthur Garner who I had never seen there before. I started by telling him about the water container caps that were not closed properly after their service. He had no response. I was wondering if he tried to ignore it or he was busy thinking of something else (while working with me, his customer). I thought it was not a big deal so I went on to tell him what I needed to get done on my Tacoma. To make sure, I asked him how much it cost for the front break pad replacement and his answer was the same as told by the other manager ($189.99). I left my truck there and came back to pay for the service and pick it up after 2 hours. That evening when I was home and looking at the receipt to see the total was $280.01. I approximated and realized that I was over-charged. Here is my approximation Regular oil change total $27.~ just say $28.00 Air filter change $18.00 + tax just say $20.00 Front break pad replacement $189.99 + tax just say $210.00 So the maximum total would be 210 + 28 + 20 = $258 or less (because I used higher amount in the approx.) On July 5th (they closed on July 4th) I went back there to ask why I was over-charge, Mr Arthur was not working that day. The manager working that day after listening to my complain and looking at my receipt called and talked to Mr. Arthur then he asked me to talk with Mr Arthur. I told him what I approximated would be the total and asked him why I got charge over $30.00 just to replace the air filter. He was somehow mad at me and started using bad words. I gave back the phone to the working manager and told him I refused to talk to Mr. Arthur who was a MANAGER but USING BAD WORDS to his CUSTOMER. The working manager talked to Mr. Arthur for a while and told me that they would refund me $25.00 only if I talked to Mr. Arthur again. I told him I didn't want to hear bad words again just for $25.00. The working manager told me they couldn't do anything if I wouldn't want to talk to Mr. Arthur. Can you believe that in the US there is such a business that requires customer to talk with a rude manager to get back the refund? I walked out of their shop with no refund and now I would like people to know how Auto Max runs business so that people'd better stay away from them or be very careful to have their services. read more

Excellent! Had a most positive experience when I brought in two cars in need of an oil change and a state inspection. Mechanics worked on them back to back and very quickly. I also asked for their recommendation on other parts of the cars to be serviced, which they produced without "applying" any pressure. They even gave me a discount on the work done almost in record time on that day. Phil Scalise was rude and tried to charge me for work on the car that wasn't necessary. I brought my car in on Monday (3/7/16) because my fuel tank could only hold 6 gallons of gas. I spoke with Phil Scalise, who is the store owner. I have an older car, but they did work on my car about a year ago when it was owned by Max. At that time it was called Auto Max. Phil recently purchase the shop, but he was the GM when it was Auto Max. I had to call Phil on Tuesday to find out what was going on with my car. He said they were still looking at the car and would call me back. He called Tuesday afternoon to tell me that I needed a new fuel cylinder because the one I had was rusted. Since the car was so old they were searching to find a replacement, which is why it took him so long to call me back. If they couldn't find the replacement then they would fabricate the part in the shop. He also informed me of some leaks, which I was aware of, and that I needed a new clutch. When he was driving the car into the port it was hard for him to shift the gears. Mind you I never had a problem with the clutch. The quote came to $2800. I declined all the work with the exception of the fuel tank issue. That was going to cost $1000. I didn't hear back from Phil until I called him on Wednesday. They couldn't find the cylinder, so they were going to fabricate one in the shop. They also had to order me a computer chip for the car because that wasn't working either. I called Phil on Thursday and he said they were waiting on the computer chip because it takes 24 hours to program. When I called Thursday evening he said the car would not be ready until Friday evening. I told him I needed it by Friday afternoon and Phil said he will see what he could do. I called Friday morning to be told that he couldn't get the computer and that the issue with the fuel tank had been fixed. Also my check engine light would remain on because the computer chip wasn't working properly. I didn't realize you can't pass the emission test with the check engine light on. I called back and Phil said the light went off when he took the car to get gas. Phil informed me the fixed the fuel cylinder and they would only charge me for the gas he put in the car. The issue was never fixed and diagnostic report showed I declined all repairs and they only cleaned the engine vents. I told him I could always put that much gas in the car, I wanted to be able to fill it with 13 gallons. When I called back on Saturday to say the problem still exist, he acted like he did not remember working on my car. He said I could bring the car back in for them to look at it. They had my car for 5 days!!! There was no way I was taking my car back there. I also reported them to the BBB. read more

I came in today to get an inspection. My first impression of the place was positive. It was clean and organized. The man that was at the desk was extremely helpful. He informed me that the wait could be a 45-60 minute wait. I sat down at the waiting area and indulged myself with the magazines that they had on the table. Honestly, time went by quickly. I ended up paying $25.50 for the inspection and I came out pleased. I was worried that the customer service may be bad but I was wrong. Please Beware of this auto max location, I have dealt with this location on two separate occasions. On the first occasion I went to get my AC fixed ok I had to get the compressor changed out which means the compressor the dryer, etc,,etc. Basically a new AC system. Ok I know it will cost alot but once the job was finished I had to keep taking my vehicle back because the Freon was slowly leaking out and they could not locate where it was leaking from. Needless to say everytime i took it back it was this hose, oh no its that hose, or maybe this hose. Each time I am getting hoses replaced in my 2008 buick and it was costing me the price of the part. I took it back a total of 5 times before they found the leak. Now I am out 3000 bucks. At the time am ok with it because at least my ac was fixed for a while with a year warranty. Well less than 9 months later my AC is not working so I pop the hood and it is obvious that the low pressure valve ruptured and leaked the green dye all over the place. So I am thinking I will take it back this is covered, NO PROBLEM. well wouldn't you know that it happen to be the one hose we didn't replace and they wanted to replace that entire hose also. But I felt like they could just replace the valve. But the owner insisted that only the entire hose could be replaced. So at this point I just wanted by car back because I knew I was getting the "Business" at this point. I took the care to another Shop and they were pretty much floored that the Guys at Auto Max basically lied to me in telling me that Valve could not be replaced. A 5 dollar part vs a 200 dollar part. I say lied intentionally because there is no way they could have not known that this simple valve on the low pressure hose could be screwed off and replaced. Which brings be to question my first dealings with this Location, did I really need all of that work done or if they would have found the correct leak in the first place how much money could I have save. Brought my car to Auto Max for a second opinion and I found out that the dealership was just trying to get my money. Thanks for the HONESTY. Automax did not have a starter, out of desperation I did not want to be stranded, so I bought one down the street from them - at O'Reilly auto part. Automax install the starter which they claimed was a bad, but none the less they put it on (without telling me first) and because of that the car would make grinding noise. If the starter was bad like they claimed, they should have told me instead of putting the bad starter on or they should have put the old one back on, and/or I could have called O'reilly down the street, less than a mile or two to get a another one. The grinding is not only grinding but it is a very very load grind, it got loader and loader as I got home, I now have to get my car towed to the dealer to get it fixed. I'm scared of driving it which might cause more damage to it. I would have rather thrown labor cost down the drain for the old starter to be put on, but they didn't tell me that.
