I've had nothing but great experiences with Smith's Autoshop. On my first visit, I came in after a chain auto shop replaced my starter, which broke down in just one year and cost me $300 more than what Smith's charged. The associate at Smith's took the time to explain that the starter I previously had was old, which is why it failed, and they guaranteed that the replacement they installed was brand new. Their service and communication throughout the entire visit were excellent and very reassuring. On my second visit, my car wouldn't start and had to be towed. I called in the morning, and they immediately recommended a partnered tow company, got my car into the shop, and had it fixed before closing the same day. Chris kept me updated the whole time, which I really appreciated. Smith's Autoshop is now my go-to auto shop. An upstanding business, honest and fair pricing. I was extremely happy with their work.

Took the car in for them to evaluate because it would not let me pump gas and for them to tell me what was wrong with the car. They provided an estimate and I agreed to get the repair done. Paid $580 for the repair and after I picked it up, I took it to get gas and noticed that the cap was broken and the issue that I had paid for was still there. When I communicated with the shop, they denied breaking the gas cap and I was told to take it back so they can see why the part was not working properly. After they evaluated the car for a second time, they said that another part was broken and wanted to charge another $600. I had never had an issue with their service, but I feel ripped off and think that they are no longer honest with their diagnostics. Never going back nor recommending anyone. read more

Came for a pre-purchase inspection. They quoted me $175, then tried to charge me $250. I argued and then they honoured $175, which by the way is still wildly high (got it for $90 at another shop later). So nice they honoured it but not so great they up-charged to a ridiculous price. Also wont stop calling me, telling me my vehicle (which wasnt even mine?) is due for service. So not sure how they would gauge that. read more

Recommend these guys to everyone. I have taken wrecked cars and cars that are just needing an oil change and they never disappoint. Everyone is always friendly and they are very honest, which I appreciate in a mechanic! Couldn't be happier with this shop. Good communication, a great price, amazingly quick turn-around, and my vehicle works right again. My 2005 Navigator needed a timing system overhaul and the dealership (AutoNation) wanted $4,475. I was prepared to junk it (or try it myself, which might be the same thing as junking it - ha) but I happened to call Smith's first. I was pleasantly surprised to find these guys with good reviews, and willing to do it for less than half the cost of the dealership (just under $2K actually). I cannot rave enough about Smith's! First and foremost, the level of service they provide is phenomenal. I just moved to the Katy area from Houston and I didn't have any information on local mechanics. I researched on Yelp for mechanics with good ratings and Smith's came highly recommended. My truck appeared to have a leak of some sort, but wasn't sure what it was. When I called, Chris answered, told me to drop it off and they would be happy to take a look... Free of Charge! I took my truck there and they kept in contact with me. They ran multiple tests to ensure nothing was wrong. Now normally a dealership or chain mechanic would do unnecessary tests to charge $200 to even look at a car. Not Smith's. They apologized they couldn't find anything, triple checked to be sure, and told me no charge! I will definitely be coming back to Smith's in a heartbeat! Highly recommended! read more

A death in the family is always a rough time. So much to plan and do. Couple that with a broken vehicle when you are traveling from out of town and you have a potential disaster on your hands. I called around several shops and it being Easter week, some garages were shorthanded and all were busy. Yes, I even delicately tried to input that I was from out of town and had to attend to my Sisters funeral arrangements, but I understand the situation they were in. I am another individual that is uncertain about taking my truck to mechanics. I handle items like oil and fuel filter maintenance. I had a shop replace my track bar 9 months prior. It was installed incorrectly, and caused issues with my upper/lower ball joints and wheel hub assemblies. I purchased the parts thinking I was going to do it myself to make sure it was done right. I decided to draw the line, and let a professional handle, because I wanted my ride quality back. Brian worked with me and agreed upon a very fair price. I dropped it off think I could pick it up the same day. I later received a call that some of disassembly was giving them problem (bolts needed penetrating oil), and they asked for additional time so they wouldn't have to "beat" on the truck to loosen them. I really appreciated the honesty because it was the professional thing to do. I picked it up mid morning the next day and couldn't had been happier. Not only was the ride great, but Brian went above and beyond to fix some of a local dodge dealerships craftsmanship on a recap item. Recall was on my steering column, and dodge just welded it. Causing my wheel to be turned roughly 45 degrees when driving straight. I definitely will be returning, because of the craftsmanship, and most importantly the honesty when it came to keeping my truck a couple hours extra. Brian and his employees are good fair people. WOW! I would give ten stars if I could. I needed a speed sensor replaced, so I bought the part myself and called around for estimates. Smith's Auto gave me an estimate of $60-$70 while other shops wanted to charge me in the $100s range. I met with Chris and he was so friendly and honest. Each time he spoke to me and other customers, he had a sweet smile on his face and told them what they needed and didn't need for their car. And, they get A LOT of business. When I arrived, there was only one spot for me to park! My car was done by the afternoon and I paid the $60 for labor. My car is running even better than before! Level of customer service is off the charts. So honest which is something that is extremely hard to find. Only one complaint....not open on the weekend......just during the week. I had to get my oil changed and they found that my spark plugs and gaskets had oil all over them and needed to be repaired. Ended up costing me more than I wanted to pay and I felt like I was taken for a ride. Would have been more comfortable letting Chris or Brian look and work on my car.
