Friendly staff. Reasonable price. What else you need right? I needed my break pads to be changed to pass safety inspection. So, while waiting for my car at the shop, I received a call that my rotors were "warninsh" too, but since I needed to save the money, I said "no" to the rotors. I worried that I wouldn't pass the inspection and that the staff member would be convincing me to make the purchase to do that additional service. However, happily for me, there was no pressure, and I did pass the inspection with the knowledge of that I need to be prepared financially for the rotors next time. I moved in close by. The crew did a really good job on my 11-year old, 115,000 mile Mercedes. They took a little bit of extra time to diagnose an issue I reported, but they did so in order to do the job right. Not afraid of complex problems. So I own a turbo-charged BMW that has a reputation for difficult repairs. My experience with Autoscandia this Fall, specifically Doug, Brian, and Mark, reinforced why I have stayed with Autoscandia since moving to Herndon. The #1 wish whenever I take the car to the shop is to get the car back in the same shape that it was in before whatever went wrong occurred. That did not happen this time. It actually came back a faster car than its been in years. It wasn't an easy fix, or a quick one. The actual problem was that a bad fuel injector fried the computer, which made diagnosis based on a lean fuel fault to be significantly challenging. The team at Autoscandia though made sure to keep me appraised while they were trying to figure out what was wrong with the car, walked me through the issues in-person, and identified and repaired some other vacuum and oil leaks along the way. They also ensured that I did have a car while they were repairing mine -- through Enterprise which is right next door in the Spring Hill Suites. I also discovered that while the parking lot adjacent to the building is pretty tight and hard to get around sometimes, they also have an agreement with the hotel next door to use their lot as overflow. (This is especially useful because the only entrance to Autoscandia itself is from Spring Street headed toward Herndon -- you can access the hotel parking lot from both Spring Street and Herndon Parkway). Had I taken the car to the dealership, the cost of the repair almost certainly would have exceeded the fair market value of the car. Kudos to Mark and the team for being reasonable on cost given the labor that went into it, and helping me get out of there with an even faster car. read more

I just move to the area and needed to have maintenance done on my 1990 VW Vanagon camper. I try to find who really like and knowledgable to this old van. Then I found Autoscandia, which has very high reviews, so I tried them out. I have been exceptionally pleased with them for my first overall check and maintenance. Every time I have been there or talked on the phone I have experienced friendly, professional and knowledgeable service at the front desk from Gene, especially mechanic Paul who really know the old Volkswagen. They let me know what was wrong with the van and what suggested to do before they work on it. They adhere to the agreed-upon mechanic work. They let me know when they see any issues that will need my attention in the future, and save me the money if it is not really need to replace. They have been great at diagnosing problems correctly the first time. I am happy I found them! and find a nice home for my lovely Vanagon! read more

The guy I talked to on the phone was not helpful. I told him I had a Maserati and wanted to have tires delivered to their shop to install them on the car and he said "Don't Maseratis have expensive rims? I don't know...wouldn't want to scratch them you should take it to a Maserati dealer." How bad do these guys scratch rims while replacing tires that this is even a concern?? I'm thinking he just didn't want to provide service because he doesn't see me as a possible repeat customer (only authorized shops and Maserati dealers can work on Maseratis apparently). read more

Gene recommended that I contact MBUSA to see if they would assist with the repairs as a goodwill gesture even though it meant that AutoScandia wouldn't be doing the work. When my Lexus broke down in the middle of the road down the street from AutoScandia I called them to see if they could help. They gave me the number of a tow company to have it towed. I expected them to just wait for the car to arrive, but on their own, they showed up while I was waiting for the tow truck, jumped it enough to put it in neutral and pushed it out of the street to a safe place. I was incredibly impressed. They got the alternator and battery replaced that same day at a reasonable price. The folks were incredibly professional and went out of their way to help me. This is the topper of all my years with Auto Scandia. Honda sevice dealer at Tysons told my daughter she needed $3000.00 worth of repairs. Took the car to Auto Scandia for second opinion since I trusted them for many years. I gave them the Honda list....they looked over each item...then called to tell me that the car didn't need any of that work done. They didn't even charge me for labor. My daughter saved $3000. We now live in DC but I will always make the trip out to Auto Scandia. They have worked on our cars for so many years when we lived close to them and never failed to perform excellent trust worthy service at reasonable prices. And the customer service is outstanding. The owner even drove me home once so I didn't have to wait longer than expected. They're the best!!!! read more

I could not be happier to have found auto Scandia through my brother. Gene, (from the service department), and Alberto, who worked on my car, save me thousands of $$$ more I would have had to pay down the road for critical repairs needed just to drive my car safely! If it would have not have been for my car failing the safety inspection at Virginia tire and Auto (get my car alignment done), and deciding to take it to Auto Scandia to take a look, I could have had a serious accident in the shape my car was in! I had been taking my car to Vienna Sunoco on maple avenue for years to have all my repairs and inspections done. After all the years I entrusted Sunoco, I was outraged when Gene at Auto Scandia showed me how much repairs my car needed to pass safety when he took a closer look at everything in my car. In summary, Sunoco's oversight over the years could have NOT just cost a lot more in repairs all at once (that could have been prevented), but also near cost a tragedy to others or myself on how unsafe my car was to drive. A couple weeks ago I took our Lexus RX350 to AutoScandia because the AC was being unreliable, working sometimes and other times not. The crew there checked the system, charged it, tested it, and put in dye to check for leaks. It seemed to be fine until yesterday when the AC again started acting up. We were especially concerned as we are traveling to a family wedding tomorrow and my elderly parents are our passengers. In a bit of a mild panic, I called AutoScandia. They weren't sure they could help us today; but when they heard our predicament, Glenn told me to come on in. Somehow they squeezed us in, diagnosed and repaired the AC. First time visiting, due to the excellent reviews on Yelp. I got the factory-scheduled maintenance on my 2011 Volvo C30. This included oil and various filter changes, and a review of all of the systems. There are six reasons why Autoscandia is excellent and I will be returning for all future auto mechanic services. First, setting the appointment was easy. I called and customer service representative immediately answered the phone. No phone tree. Excellent. Second, they suggested I drop the car off in the morning and leave it there for the day, to avoid waiting for the car. This worked well for me as their hours are from 8a to 6p, so I could easily get to work and arrive back on time, not having to leave early. Third, I received pick up service from the closest metro even though I arrived there after they stop that service for the day. This made getting there after a long day of work seamless. Fourth, there was a single representative, Zach, who let me know how much the service would cost and informed me about any additional issues they found in my car. Ideally, they found a very small issue I had only noticed a couple of days ago. The windshield wiper fluid stopped flowing out of the valve. I thought it was just an empty fluid container issue but no, they found that the valves were clogged and needed to be replaced. This tells me that they did indeed conduct a detailed inspection of all of the systems on the car. Fifth, the employee who picked me up from the metro gave me detailed driving instructions to get home and avoid the worst of the traffic. His directions were right on and saved me one hour, according to Google Maps. Good looking out! Sixth and finally, their pricing is excellent. Overall, the service would have cost just under $400, which in itself is a couple hundred bucks below what Volvo charges for this same service. But, upon picking up my car, Zach gave me a $100 discount for new customers. I highly recommend Autoscandia for any and all Volvo servicing needs. read more

I count on AutoScandia for keeping my BMW running long after the warranty has expired...in fact I wish AutoScandia could handle my warranty service also! Dan, the go to front man for the BMW side of the house gave me wise and honest counsel for the last eight years of my 5 series...clearly identifying those things that had to be fixed and those issues that could be monitored... I recently purchased a 2014 X5 that is still under warranty....since I bought it from a non-BMW dealership the first time I had a non-warranty type of issue I trusted AutoScandia to fix the problem...when my warranty ends they will handle everything with my car...great service that you can trust at a cost that is less than the dealership...why would I go anywhere else? read more

My Audi Q7 was just out of warranty so I went to them for my 100K mile service. Less than half the price I was quoted at Audi. Thought I also needed brakes. They did the service in record time, and honestly told me to wait on the brakes, there was plenty of pad left. They could have just done the service and I would not have know either way, but I appreciate the honesty and integrity of this shop. I also brought some older audis I had here years ago. Over the past few years I have had AutoScandia do work on my Volvo. They are about 10%-15% less than the dealer's charge for an identical service and they don't seem to have the same push to upsell unneeded services. There are some wonky issues with the design on these European cars that make them difficult for the average Joe/Jane to fix. Ever try to replace a blower motor on the XC90? It requires the dash to be pulled to do it the right way or you have to break off a tab if you do it the wrong way. AutoScandia does it the right way but they are up front about the costs and the design flaws in the automobile that drive up the costs. Many of the Volvo parts have to be shipped from Germany, Sweden, or other EU countries. The labor there is more expensive than it is in the US! The dealer markup is insane but AutoScandia's markup does not appear to be anywhere near the dealer's doubling of price. These are great folks with a passion for European cars. read more
