I was having trouble with my antifreeze leaking/evaporating and the car not heating. the dealership recommended thermostat case replacement which was going to be very pricey so I went to Craftsman for a second opinion. turns out i don't need to replace the case, there was an air pocket that should have been removed when the car oil case was replaced and I was still losing the antifreeze. Awoke to a flattened tire and hopped online to find a nearby repair shop. Craftsman Auto Care in Chantilly was at the top of this list, and now I know why. My experience today was A+. I called on my way over to make sure they were open, and the tech who answered the phone assured me I could come right in and got me registered as I headed their way. It took just under an hour for the team to evaluate my tire, spot the screw that was causing the leak, patch it, and fill it back up. I was able to work from a well-appointed waiting area with plenty of seating, Wi-Fi, outlets, snacks and coffee. I've been coming here for a few years now and really have nothing but good things to say. The customer service is always above reproach, the car service has been rapid and well-done, and I've found their prices to be competitive, ESPECIALLY when you look for coupons online (and check-in offers on Yelp!). I don't want to promise any deals, but once I had service done that came to something like $2,020 and the guy writing me up said "I can't be that close to an even two grand and charge you more. Just call it $2,000." Another time I was fretting about cost and he applied coupons I didn't know about to bring the price down. Once I needed some follow-up work done and I don't remember the details, but they couldn't do it at the Chantilly location. They had me go to Fairfax, and not only covered the work done but paid for my state safety and emissions inspections while I was there. The first time I came here it was because I saw that they had a Groupon, and I had had my old shop tell me I needed some work or other done. I came here to get that work done so I could use the Groupon, and they told me yeah, get that Groupon refunded because your other mechanic was wrong, nuts, or scamming you. You don't need this work done at all. They absolutely could have done whatever it was. I was standing there like "shut up and take me money" and an AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR FACILITY DIDN'T TAKE MY EASY MONEY BECAUSE THE GUY SAID HE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SLEEP. W.T.F. They keep you posted through email and texts about what your car needs, what they're doing, and so on while they work on it including pictures. I'm really trying to find something negative to balance this out and I can't. If there were more stars I'd give them. read more

I took it to Roundhill Service Center and it was just a few clamps that needed to be tightened after a previous fender bender. Only $285. We took our old Lexus to get multiple work done to pass the safety inspection. We choose this place because it is close to our home. Also, they applied a coupon to apply to make the cost comparable to another shop. At first, we were a little frustrated because the 2-3 hour job took double the time. However, the shop made things right. We had a couple other minor things wrong with the vehicle, and they're only charging us the part cost. And in one case, they didn't charge us at all. The new service manager Desean has been a welcome change. I've recently had oil change, alignment and suspension work done here on my 2023 Audi RS3. Everything was at a fair price and the work was done to my satisfaction. I even miscalculated the amount of oil needed for the oil change and the technician had extra to cover for me without any extra charge. A big plus is the location where you can drop your car off and do some shopping in Costco/target or grab some grub at the Toue Le Jours bakery. Saved a lot of $$$ compared to dealership. $80 for parts for oil change. $60 labor vs almost double to get it done at Audi dealership. read more

I came to Craftsman Auto Care after the dealership maintenance package expired (Acura RDX). My coworker suggested the place since it is less than 2 miles down the road from the office. Loved the morning dropped off / pick up after work service. And I like the fact that the report is online with pictures of my car and let me know what's wrong with it. They are pretty thorough at finding things that needs to be fixed since that is how they (and to be fair other shops) make money, but oh boy they are expensive. The price was pretty close to the dealers. I had come here because I didn't quite trust the stealerships. Sadly the labor charge came out to be over $300/hour and the parts were really expensive unless they are genuine parts, then they are reasonable, problem is they don't state what brand they are using so I'm leaning toward generic parts, then they are way over priced. Unfortunately due to upcoming trip soon, I had to get them repaired. While waiting for my car to be fixed in their poorly air conditioned lobby, I heard various complaints and including a guy telling them "You guys are charging me over 1k for xxxx knowing I have no choice but to get it fixed!" I guess I was not the only one. Another one was someone calling asking about how much was the final cost so he/she can pickup the car, after the clerk told him/her the amount, and then the shop owner inquiring about it, it seems the person had to wait for the next paycheck to pay it. Ouch. I am 2k poorer now, even after refusing whole bunch of other things they said I should address, even telling me oil needs to be changed when I changed it myself just 3 months ago using synthetic oil and driven only about about 1.5k miles along with maintenance minder indicating I still have over 70% oil life left. And I didn't appreciate they keep coming back to me with things I have to fix otherwise, they'll fail my safety inspection, on the second time they did that I was about say stop everything so I can take my car and leave, but they backed off saying it wasn't so bad to fail the inspection. Would I come here again? I can't say since I hadn't had time to compare shop. With the inflation and shortage of parts, their price could be justifiable. But my impression is it is still too high or it could had been negotiated down. Did they do a good job? It's under the car so I have no idea on that either, hopefully they did, and they said they have 3 year warranty on their work, so I'm guessing they did do a good job. But next time I'll definitely shop around. read more
