Autostop is great! All we've gotten there so far is a synthetic oil change but we have a hybrid and are always concerned about anyone other than a dealership working on the car. I read Autostop's reviews and then I read my dealerships reviews and decided to give Autostop a try to save a little money. Richard was very helpful and gave us $10 off as a new customer. He was very knowledgeable and explained things clearly. When the oil change was completed, it was helpful how he went through other maintenance items for the car without pressuring us to get anything providing an overview of what we should try to get looked at when the car hits certain mileage increments. read more

Phenomenal and honest service! I do not review but had to make an exception for Tom. We are new to town and looking for a good mechanic. We had an engine light and air bag light. The engine light was an easier fix but the air bag light was hard to fix (diagnosis not well defined). The shop took time they didn't have to figure out a recurring air bag fault light and finally fixed. Tom felt so bad about keeping the car a little long that he gave us a discount and even though the air bag light took a lot of time...ended up not even charging us! I have gone to Auto Stop a few times for service. The other day I had a great experience there. I called them at around 4:30 and asked if they could fix a problem I was having with my windshield wipers. They closed at 6 and I would only be able to get there at around 5:30. They invited me to come in. I walked around the neighborhood while they fixed my wipers. I guess the repair was easy for them, because they did not charge me anything. I was very appreciative that they fit me in last minute, fixed my wipers, and then charged me nothing! I plan to go back for future service needs. read more

I too went to these guys based on Yelp reviews and they did not disappoint. First I took in my new (used) Lexus which the dealership had claimed needed rear brake work, pads, rotors resurfaced, etc. This was a test to see what AutoStop would recommend. They said I probably have another 5K or more to go on them and recommended I just wait. I was pretty surprised since most shops would jump at the work to make some money. Second I took in my Acura that on certain cold days wouldnt start. This one took them awhile to figure out, probably over a week. They did fix the issue and did not charge me for any of that labor. So in short I'm sold, they are dependable and their prices are fair. To anyone bad mouthing these guys, they are still the best shop around. I mean who turns down work? read more

Don't come here if you have your own parts. I wanted to get my transmission fluid changed, front rear gear axle fluid changed, and power steering fluid flushed. Picked up the sealed MOPAR parts from a dealership who wanted to charge a huge amount for the labor, only to find that the Auto Stop has a policy against using customer supplied parts. If they are sealed and unopened with a receipt showing you literally just picked them up, I don't see why they would just turn me away. read more

Solid customer service experience even with minor issues coming up. I've used them twice now. I'm not exactly a car expert so I believe they've done a good job each time I've needed to bring my (20+ year old) Jeep in. My first visit everything went well. They did the work they could do and referred me to someone else for the work they couldn't do there (and that person was great for what I needed). My second visit they couldn't do one of the primary things I brought the car in for but did a good job explaining what the issue was. For the other work they did, I again believe it was good (the car is working better than when I brought it in). We had a disagreement over price at check out though. There was a miscue between myself and one of their employees. They were polite in working through it but stood firm. I didn't concur and in the end they gave me the price I remembered them quoting me. read more

Not having grown up in the area, finding a mechanic was a daunting task. After reading a considerable number of reviews, I decided to check this place out after my dealer telling me I needed a ATF Flush, Power Steering (P/S) flush, and two new tires. I was skeptical, got some estimates and decided to stick with Auto Stop; I'm glad I did. You probably don't care what my car needed, but what you do care about why Tom and Auto Stop gets 4.5 to 5 stars. 1) I dealt with Tom (the owner I think) almost 100% of the time. Not some random mechanic. 2) Tom was honest - he told me things I really didn't need, and how long I could hold out. 3) He fully disclosed why his price was a bit more (uses synthetic, etc) and his reasoning behind it. Because of #2 above,I was ok with this. 4) He was very easy going, no up-sell and stuck to his estimate. 5) Even the mechanics were friendly 6) I was treated with respect and full attention from the estimate, to the drop off, to the pick up. This was huge considering the number of cars he was working on all week. While he ran around checking on things almost every minute, nothing else mattered while he was talking to me. I highly recommend Auto Stop. I kind of wanted to give 4.5 stars only because my car had a few grease marks around the drivers side sill and on the inside of the door from where the mechanics were getting in and out. It came out with a couple shots of all-purpose cleaner (Shout I think) and a paper towel. Since they were so busy I can understand why this happened. No harm, no foul. read more

The folks at Auto Stop were pleasant to work with, responsive to questions, and provided plenty of information up front about the state my vehicle is in. After taking my car to a competitor for an oil change last week and leaving being told I needed around $3k worth of work done, Auto Stop was quite refreshingly honest. I've been going to the Auto Shop for over almost ten years with first a Jeep and then BMWs and it is always so wonderful to have a mechanic you trust. Particularly as a woman there can be places that you may feel taken advantage of or talked over which I hate. This never happens with the Auto Shop. In fact they go above and beyond to explain-I have worked with Richard in particular who exceeds all my expectations of friendly and honest service. He has helped me out on several occasions where he could have charged more such such as for a battery charge, but didn't. I think they are honest and hard working. Do not go here! They said they would send me a photo of underneath my car and an estimate of how much the damage cost would be plus labor. They only sent me what was wrong, no picture (which is important). They said there were 3 things to be fixed and one of those items was the muffler and that it was rusted completely through. Everything came out to $700 which is too pricey for me because you can get all that done for $300 or less. I went to another place to get another estimate. This time I was able to go in the garage and look underneath the car, while they were pushing on the gas to show me the problem. THE MUFFLER WAS NOT RUSTED THROUGH!!!! The only thing that was wrong cost $80. So do not go to Auto Stop. Not as honest as they say in other reviews. Go to Kelly's Kustom in MD. read more

I've been going here for years. They've worked on both of my Jeeps and I've felt very confident with the work they've done. My older Jeep had most of the internal systems fixed or replaced over the years and it's still running smoothly. My newer Jeep has just needed basic maintinance but they've worked with me to make sure we prevent any problems before they arise. Dropped my car off for a oil change and a tire rotation and they did a complete inspection including photos. They did find that my brakes pads were wearing down, but was not a pressing issue, something to be addressed in about a year. Best and most trustworthy auto mechanic in the area. The folks here at Auto Stop are fantastic! I brought a car that was totaled in an accident to them, and they gave me estimates for the total work needed, the work needed for it to be safe to drive, and the damage that was directly a result of the accident, all so that I could properly document everything for the insurance company to total the vehicle without hassle. Auto Stop did all this completely free of charge, and in addition to that they also helped walk me through the whole process step by step with helpful advice and the benefit of their professional experience, as I'd never had to deal with a totaled car before. After I purchased a new car to replace the old one, they were able to do a full diagnostic check up and inspection/emissions on it the very next day to make sure all was in order, and for a very reasonable cost! Richard and Alex were great!! Their price was competitive with others in the area and they made sure to answer all my questions. They also were very patient with me as i wanted to call around and research everything before having my car worked on. If you're like me and worried about being screwed over, I'll save you some time and let you know these guys are the real deal. They are very open and honest throughout the whole process. As much as I hate mechanics in this area, I decided to go to Auto Stop because Yelp had some good reviews about them. I took my Cavalier to Tom and I must say that it was a very good experience. I know a bit about cars and I hate it when mechanics talk to you as if you're a moron, but Tom clearly explained everything and even took the time to explain things I didn't know (which is great b/c I love learning about cars). He and the rest of his staff seem to be very knowledgeable and honest. They stay after hours often if they're backed up, too. Very rare in the auto industry. The price was also reasonable for the area. After my visit, they sent me a thank you card in the mail for my business. An interesting touch, but I definitely appreciated their help, honesty, and respect. Five stars for these guys. read more

My husband and I were dreading our visit to a mechanic, for the simple fact that his truck pretty much needed EVERYTHING done. The A/C had gone out, the brakes were shot, and the truck pretty much hadn't been touched for 3 years. However, it was a necessary evil because we have a baby due next month and we need both of our cars to be in tip top shape. So, I came to Yelp to try to find someone who wouldn't rob us blind. Auto Stop came highly recommended, and now I can see why. We dropped the truck off on a Tuesday morning and were able to pick it up the very next afternoon. On top of that, Edwin called us and explained everything that had to be done and exactly how much each item would cost - so we could decide what we wanted to spend. Additionally, he was honest. The shocks needed to be replaced, a service that runs around $700 and he told us honestly that we could wait on that if we were looking to save some money. They also gave us a military discount on the labor. All in all, although we still ended up spending a lot, the prices were fair, they were quick and friendly, and it was as enjoyable as a trip to the shop can possibly be. And I'm 35 weeks pregnant, so I'm hard to please! haha read more

Within a couple of hours of posting my review, Tony from Auto Stop contacted me. He apologized for my bad experience and asked me to give them a chance to make things right. He completely refunded me for the work I had done, and he arranged for me to bring my car back in to have someone take a look at it while he was there. As I posted in my first review, I have/had absolutely no issues with the customer service at Auto Stop. I was treated extremely well by Edwin when I brought my car to the shop the first few times, and by Tony when he called to rectify the situation. Regarding my complaint, Tony went above and beyond to address my concerns, and I'm extremely satisfied with the way he's handled the situation thus far. I'll be bringing my car back to Auto Stop in a couple of days, and I'll update my review after that. I'm confident that Tony and his staff will be able to correct the issue with my brakes! read more

These guys are great and I've had nothing but good experiences here. I've been here three times now and their customer service and attitude is hands down the best I've had in the area. Also - for any "proposed" maintenance that they think you should get done they take pictures and show it to you so you don't have to guess what the repair shop is finding wrong this time - an experience I've had with many other shops. Nothing fancy and nothing special, a pretty small waiting room too, but I'll definitely keep coming back simply for their great customer service and transparency, which I've had a tough time finding with numerous other auto shops in my life. read more

I scheduled my first appointment and brought my car in for maintenance earlier this week. The staff were very polite and the service advisers very timely in letting me know what my car needed. They even had a shuttle that dropped and picked me up from the metro, and my car was ready to go when I returned.
