They were thorough, reasonably priced and kept my jeep alive-especially after a headache of time and work. I brought my Jeep here once probably was last year I had just bought a Jeep there was a little discrepancy in the title and the VIN number. It was all ironed out through the CHP but when I brought it to Auto tech to have them smog it they took the liberty of running a stolen car check. They were really really creepy about it and almost acted like they weren't going to give me my car back when I showed them all the paperwork from the CHP these people are horrible you need to stay away from these people!!!!! read more

In my experience AutoTech is completely unprofessional, rude and cares little to nothing about their customers! They told me they could work on my carbureted truck, I waited almost a month for them to do so, then on the second day in was there (and after upselling me on a valve job I'm pretty sure I didn't need) the mechanic tells me they won't work on my carburetor. Further telling me they don't even have the equipment I was told they would use to diagnose my truck.( this statement was retracted when I picked the truck up, the owner told me they just would use the machine on my truck. He then tells me he didn't even know the tuck was there for the carburetor. However, I had spoken with the front desk person multiple times(when booking, the day before and when I dropped off the truck)letting him know what kind of carb was on there and even left a rebuild kit with some jets. I spoke with him at length about what I had done to the carb already As well as what issues remain to be checked out. Still, when I get the truck back the mechanic flipped it on me and stated that telling him the issues with the truck was not enough, i seemingly needed to diagnosis it for him too. He pretty much blamed me for the failer because my diagnosis of the exact issues and where they stem from was not up to his expectations. Never has amateur diagnosis been used as the reason a mechanic could not fix my truck. one bring in a vehicle and says, "it's just not pulling up the hill like it used too" and that is about all most drivers know. I went above and beyond that( be doing research during the nearly month long wait for my appointment. But still, it was not enough for this shop. In the end, they gave me back a truck running with no perceivable difference than when I gave it to them. They sited a valve job and straightening out some vacuum lines but it has not even addressed the issues I clearly brought up to them when booking the appointment. To make this all worse the owner has been extremely rude and uncaring about the situation. He started yelling. "Your Done!" at me within 5 minutes. I was actually scared he might resort to physical violence. Super defensive and unwilling to work with me. Worst experience I've ever had with a mechanic and thats saying A LOT! The owner even threatened me with a lawsuit if I wrote this review. This is how important I feel it is for me to get this information out; I'll risk further harassment in order to let others know about this horrible business. Took my wife's car to auto tech, I work don't have time to deal with it. Firs thing they said when I brought it in....sounds like a transmission problem. Going to be thousands to fix. Mind you they didn't even look at it. They did extensive car analysis, gave me a detailed report on the car, then told me to take it to a tranny shop. Tranny shop said nothing's wrong with it. Turns out it was just low on oil! These guys were more than happy to take my money!!! Hahaha, expert trouble shooters?? Lol....don't waste your time! read more

HUGE shout out to Auto tech and tires in Sonora! Our truck was in pretty bad shape. Really hard to turn, I can't even explain the grinding/ scratching sound it would make everytime you'd turn and not to mention the thing looked like it was going into the other lane when you were going "straight". So I called the owners and they told me to bring it right down and they'd look at it as soon as they could (they've been pretty swamped). Pretty much the steering was shot and the alignment was way bad. Not only did they look at it right away they fixed the whole problem within a week. Our truck drives straight again and doesn't make any weird noises when you turn. Sooo happy with the work they did. So happy with the whole experience. These people are great! read more

hands down the nicest people i know! from my experience ive come in with a issue or a deadline or a situation etc, they were there willing to help out and handle it. one thing about this this company, its not about the money or the job they're about to do.. its about ,making sure the job is done and the customer is satisfied. to me that meant a lot, there was no upsale or telling me i needed this or that, they were honest and upfront. its hard these days to find that from a shop, they treat you like family. im happy to take my business there and i will continue to do so with sahring my experience. Not impressed at all. I got stranded up here with an overheating issue on my BMW and paid to have it towed to Erik at Auto Tech. I suggested I was worried it might be a water pump issue or thermostat. He "squeezed me in" and took about 20 minutes to "diagnose" the issue. Came back with the "guaranteed" solution that it was just the radiator reservoir cap and I could go get one at AutoZone for $20. Relieved I tipped him $20 and took the car to AutoZone, ordered the part and then waited around stranded in a Sonora Strip Mall until 4:45 when the part arrived. I replaced it and began to slowly drive home; until it happened again--5 minutes until my drive. Frustrated, I slowly got it back to AutoZone and figured it was probably the thermostat. So I left the car overnight and first thing in the morning I called Auto Tech to see if they could get me in, and lo and behold they were all booked up...for days. I believe a company should stand behind their word and their brand. This company clearly does not and now has wasted an entire day for me...and essentially refused to take any responsibility for the misdiagnosis. read more

This shop comes highly recommended from many friends. I had them work on an old car of mine a few years ago and was satisfied with it. Most recently, my beloved Lexus was having some overheating issues and another shop nearby quoted me over $4k to fix it (head gaskets, timing belts, ac system, etc.). I went to Auto Tech for a second opinion. They said I did not need the timing kit as the first shop recommended. Their estimate came in at a very reasonable price, but still more than I was willing to invest into this car due to its age. There was a modest diagnostic fee and I was on my way. Eric even rinsed off my windshield before I left. All the staff are easy to talk to, remembered my nand I enjoyed working with them. Thank you! I will definitely be back. Update 08/2020: I had them do some AC work on my car earlier this summer and they continue to go above and beyond... very reasonable price and were understanding when I couldn't pick up my car right away. read more

Auto Tech has moved to a new location on Camage Road, just off Tuolumne Rd. We had a stormy snowy week and my windshield wipers on the 4WD truck got a working out. Another storm was heading our way promising more snow. I got in the truck, turned on the wipers to clear the condensation, the wipers went up, down, half way up, down, wiggled a little, then seemed to die. I immediately saw dollar signs flying out the window. I might have even sworn in the heat of the moment. If it were summer I could have waited a day or so to have them repaired, but no, the wipers decided to quit during the worst weather of the year. I made a call to Auto Tech and spoke to Greg. He said bring it in and I'll take care of it for you. I took the truck in with my debit card poised for rapid deployment. He grabbed a socket wrench and showed me how to fix the wipers if they ever did it again. It took 5 minutes and he didn't charge me! That's right - no charge! He explained that the wipers are designed to loosen in heavy snow so the motor doesn't burn out. read more

I'm disappointed to report this business did not provide satisfactory service. I paid for a post purchase inspection and then two repairs, yet additional problems were found. This leads me to believe they are either not thorough and efficient in their work or they are dragging out repairs in order to charge more labor. The post purchase inspection should have caught the noneorking windshield wiper fluid problem. Most certainly the 7 hours of labor to replace the evaporator should have caught this problem. When I brought it to the owner's attention, he said I should be grateful he gave me a ride to and from the shop to keep the car overnight. I ask that the washer fluid part be replaced without charging me for further labor, just the part. The owner hung up on me. read more

I took my 1966 Mustang into Hal at Auto Tech. I had been told by a previous repair shop that they would not be able to make the repairs necessary to get the car running again. It involved replacing the cross bar, motor brackets and basically undoing all the damage that had been done by the previous owner to make it a stock car. Hal and team had her running and running well!!!! And, most importantly, Hal took the time to explain to me what was wrong and what he would be doing to fix it. I trust Auto Tech & Tires. Took my car in on a Monday for water pump and rotors turned. Asked not to have anything extra done. Called later that day and was told during test drive mechanic noticed the motor mounts were broken. I said fix them. Tues I call to see if it's done and the woman said oh you wanted that done? I have to special order them. Should be here in the morning. Wed. the wife had a Dr. appointment and other duties so I would not be able to pick up the car. No call from shop. On Thurs. at 10:30 I get a call from the owners daughter asking me if I still want my rotors turned. I became irate. Why wasn't that done on Mon when I brought it in. She them told me my pads were 80 percent worn when I had changed them myself two months ago. I am not a happy camper now and told her off. was called rude and hung up on. My wife went in told her off a little and got banish for life. When I got the bill sure enough they added an air filter and radiator cap without asking. I then get a call from the owner say I swore at his daughter. I didn't. Then reminded me he was in law enforcement and he is going to get one of his cop buddies to come down there. Then had the gall to call me a Veteran un American. Stay away from this shop. read more

Been going here for years. With two older cars Not anymore. Needed a water pump fixed and rotors turned . Just changed pads two months ago. Called the next day and they said I need motor mts. I say okay install them. Called the next day. Oh we didn't know wanted them I called you. well if she did why didn't she leave a message to either phone numbers they had. Next day she calls me and says you still want those rotors turned. I said what you haven't done them yet? This is thurs.She says you need new pads or we won't turn them plus some kind of 12 dollar pin. I got mad at this point. I wanted this done Mon. with the water pump and your just now telling me now. She hung up on me so I had my wife deal with it. We are now banished for life because they can't communicate with their customer. Four days without our car is unacceptable. Seems people from out of town get better service. And take that stupid nose ring out. read more
