They are dishonest. I suggest to avoid this business if possible. I was involved in a collision in San Francisco, and they showed up to tow the other vehicle involved in the accident. They offered their services to us and gave my husband a quote of $275 to tow our car to an auto body repair shop that my husband had selected 0.4 miles away. Unfortunately, we did not go with them or think to call the auto body shop to notify them of the quoted price, as we were busy talking to the police/insurance on the phone. When we got to the auto body shop maybe 30 minutes later, we found out they had charged the owner $330, which the owner had paid before we arrived and the cost was passed onto us. In the end, $55 isn't going to break us, but this is really unprofessional behavior. My husband has tried contacting them. If this doesn't work out, we plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Posted this same review on Google Maps. read more

Beware of Auto Towing. They have agreements with Body Shops to take your car there after an accident instead of taking the vehicle to the City Yard. They took my car to Karry's Collision Center who tried to get me and sign waivers to repair my car right away without even letting me speak to my insurance company first. My van needed a tow to to have mechanical work done. The dispatcher was very kind and helpful when I had to cancel a tow truck on the way. The repair shop had no space to except the van until the next morning. The next morning the tow driver was fast friendly and efficient. He also did a great job backing the van into a tight space while navigating a busy city street. Turned out the shop could not fix the van which had a computer problem and I needed a second tow to the dealer. Same great service the second tow and the dispatcher gave me a great discount for much longer distance. That was very much appreciated during a very frustrating event. My car was stuck in mud early in the morning. While I give Auto Towing credit for responding to the call fast, I feel like the company is a scam. The tow driver charged me 700$ for using a winch to pull my truck out of mud onto the street (15-20ft). I did not need any towing, just getting the car out of the mud. Average costs for winch services are 50$-250$ (Google). The driver was trying to scare me into buying his services, mentioning warnings such as there is no other tow drivers available anywhere in the city for at least 6 hours, telling me my car was unusable and needs to be towed (i declined, it drove fine right after), and that my truck has received damage from the mud. I got my truck inspected today, no damage. I had no choice but to pay the 700$ to get home. I have contacted the company attempting to see a detailed report of why I was charged 700$ / some cash compensation and have not received a response yet. After looking at other reviews, it seems like my issue will not be resolved and that my suspicions of a scam were correct. Regardless, I will update my review if the company attempts to resolve this issue. read more

After getting two flat tires on a friend's car, I needed a quick tow to SF Toyota on Geary. I tried calling another business who was going to charge me a $250 flat rate, and couldn't get me for a couple of hours. I asked Toyota for a recommendation and they referred me to Auto Towing. Juan came to pick me up within 30 minutes from my original call, and it was only $100 from near Dolores Park to SF Toyota on Geary. I'm surprised they have such low ratings because I found them to be fast, reliable and cost effective. Thanks again to Juan and the rest of the Auto Towing team. Ameer towed my 2005 Acura MDX without lifting the rear tires or putting the vehicle on a flatbed truck. The vehicle was towed to a shop with cameras showing the vehicle being towed with only the front two wheels up. I've asked for a refund for the tow since there was damage from towing an AWD vehicle without properly doing so. The tower also didn't give me a receipt and denied towing my vehicle. Its 2019, there are cameras everywhere. Even my home have cameras and now that theres Ring, how can anyone lie about things like this? good thing the shop have cameras and I've already reported this to the BBB. All I've asked for is a refund for the tow. It's been over a month and if the refund is not received by January, I will have my attorney buddies involved for vehicle repairs. These guys are horrible at customer service especially when they know are at fault. A simple tow refund now could cause them having them repair my vehicle. I've talked to Jose, Oscar, Abby I believe who is the receptionist, and their supervisor. They all have lied about my refund and they have terrible customer service. I will not stop until this gets resolved; its not the money that matters but how they lie and treat customers after knowing and owning fault. read more

The absolute worst, sketchiest tow yard on earth. Customer service is dismal. There were 3 large dogs off leash. No warning signs. One dog left scratches trying to jump up the drivers side I was in. Of course the employee on-site denies this her problem because "it's not her dog" which she did not disclose while we were there. She called to tell me this after I'd left and she'd had time to make up a story. She was calling them by name and trying to get them behind the gate once she saw one had left scratches. Right..not your dog. Regardless, it's on your property and you're addressing them like you are responsible for them. Thankfully my partner isn't afraid of dogs because they were jumping all over him too. They later called my cell phone with 2 people over speaker phone telling me it's not their problem and they don't know who's dogs they are. Obviously a total lie and sad attempt at covering themselves. Why call and rudely deny things without ever showing concern, unless you're actually guilty and trying to cover up more. If you are triggered by dogs or looking for business that runs it's property safely, 100% go elsewhere. There was not once ounce of concern on the business's end. We tried to reason with them but will most likely have to make a police report for insurance purposes. Let me be clear I love dogs and this is not the dogs fault. I wish no ill will on them. It's bad owners that don't take responsibility for the countless things that could happen when you have loose dogs on the property. And a place of business should be held liable for what happens on their premises. read more

To echo what another reviewer wrote, these folks are complete scam artists. They towed our car that was hit while parked and took advantage that the first person on the scene didn't speak english very well. They told her that they were taking it to a body shop but instead drove it to several locations (charging for an additional tow each time) plus storage because the body shop was closed. For us, they said storage was $200 (up from the $150 they quoted the other reviewer). The body shop said Auto Towing actually marked down two days of storage ($400) but they had the car less than 24 hours. Turns out insurance will pay per calendar day so the towing company knew that they could add in the additional fee for no reason. Similar to what they did with the other reviewer. Just some light insurance fraud for you. The total bill was $900. When I asked how they reached this number the tow guy said "why do you care, insurance will pay for it anyway" - so basically they know they can mark up their rates because insurance will cover. Then I asked again to break down the charges for me and the guy just stammered and couldn't give me legitimate answers. Finally he hung up on me and wouldn't pick up when I called back. Will be reporting this company to the BBB, insurance companies and any other relevant agencies. I highly recommend calling a different tow company if these folks show up for you. read more

My husband and I just got towed from San Francisco to Santa Clara and we were amazed by the service provided by Oscar and the Auto Towing team. (He has even gotten me out of my Yelp review hiatus!) While we were on the phone with our insurance and credit card companies for how to proceed with towing, my mom graciously called around the SF area and got in contact with Auto Towing. Oscar picked up and quickly responded to action, informing her that he was going to be on his way toward us regardless so that we could avoid any other accidents or police issues while on the side of the road. He quoted us a fair price, he had us ride alongside him in his back seat toward our mechanic back home (South Bay) which saves us from an Uber/Lyft ride. Overall 5 star service. Our quotes (and other quotes for their services, like flat tire, etc) are very reasonable. They accept cash and credit cards (which we used for insurance and reimbursement purposes). When my car's alternator went out I called AAA to get a tow and they just left me hanging for 5 HOURS with an occasional robocall about someone being there in 30 minutes but that "someone" never came and AAA finally called and said the first tow company had to cancel they would have to call another company. I had a tow from 40th and Fulton to 579 South Van Ness. When we got to 579, it was the wrong address and the driver got mad, which was stupid because the actual address was only down the street. When we got down the street (to 501 south van ness, which was actually a mechanic I needed to take a newly bought car to) they decided not to take the car. Simply because. So we had to go all the way back to 40th & Fulton. And I was charged up front. (Both times) The thing is the driver helped me find a mechanic, down the street (at 351 S. van ness) The company had kept the $175 fee, just because the tow was two blocks down from where had initially been planned. I've never called for a tow in my life except for recently to get a friend's car. I called back in 10 minutes and cancelled and was able to get the car home. My credit card was charged $250 and somebody named Juan or Chris said the charge was reversed immediately after receiving cancellation-we're talking a 10 minute lapse of time between 1st call and 2nd call to cancel. No credit on the card; each time I called whoever answered the phone said oh yeah I'll have so and so call you back-no call back. No truck was dispatched-so obviously no tow. read more

These guys just ripped me off. Had an accident on Saturday night in the city, they offered to store the car until Monday morning and then take it to the body shop in South City. Asked how much it would be, the driver named Eduardo said $150 per day of storage and $500 for the tow, total $800. That's already a lot but the cops were pressuring to get the car off the street asap so I said fine. When they towed the car to the body shop today, the bill was $1200 - looks like they charged for 3 days of storage and additional $250 for the tow. What an effing ripoff. read more

While my girlfriend was shopping at Safeway off of Mission, a tow truck driver had hitched her car. She was able to be there in the nick of time to show the driver her receipt. The driver said, "my bad" and detached her car from the hitch. He claimed that he didn't realize that she was shopping in Safeway. Upon the tow truck driver departing the lot, two witnesses approached my girlfriend to show her the extensive damages that the tow truck did to her trunk of her car. There was a massive hole left behind. The driver never mentioned that he had damaged the car. She called the tow truck company's number posted in the signage in the Safeway parking lot. Another tow truck driver arrived. He gave us all of this shady information and told us to call so and so to get the car repaired. We did; they never returned our calls. This happened last month in the middle of a pandemic! We had to go through our insurance to get the vehicle repaired. This company cannot be trusted. They are taking advantage of people and illegally towing vehicles. read more
