I had an outstanding experience with AAA and the remarkable tow truck driver, Khalil Habash. From…read morethe moment he arrived, Khalil was incredibly sharp and quickly identified that the starter was definitely dead after his initial attempt to jump-start the car. Because his tow truck couldn't fit under the low ceilings of the Stonestown parking garage, Khalil expertly coasted my immobile car down the garage inclines, ensuring it remained safe and under control as we brought it out to the street. Initially, I had considered having Khalil tow my car to my home, but it quickly became clear that this would have been impractical since I had no plans for repairs. Khalil wisely suggested towing the car directly to A & J Automotive, where it could be repaired promptly and efficiently. This thoughtful recommendation proved to be a game-changer, sparing me the hassle of finding a repair shop on my own and necessitating a second towing job. What truly stood out was Khalil's dedication and thoughtfulness. After we dropped the car off at A & J Automotive, Khalil even gave me a ride home, despite his shift having ended and the pouring rain. His commitment to my comfort made the entire experience pleasant and stress-free. The next morning, Farah at A & J Automotive confirmed the diagnosis and repaired the starter at a fair and reasonable price, which I verified through my own research. Thanks to Khalil's thoughtful recommendation, my car is now fixed and back on the road, saving me time and hassle.

I'm extremely frustrated and disappointed with the service provided by Westlake Tow. A friend of…read moremine, who was visiting us from out of state, had a very unpleasant experience with this predatory towing company. She was simply backing into our parking area, which is located near our apartment, for just 3-5 minutes to retrieve her dogs from our apartment . During that brief period, her vehicle was hitched and ready to be taken away, despite not obstructing anyone (solely blocking our paid parking spot) nor causing any disruption. The whole incident took place in a matter of minutes, and she was unaware that this could even result in a tow. This towing felt incredibly predatory and unnecessary. It seems like Westlake Tow is more interested in charging people than actually providing reasonable service. My friend did nothing wrong, yet she was penalized for a completely harmless action. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid using their services if possible. It's clear they prioritize making money off of people who make the slightest mistake rather than offering fair and ethical towing practices. I will be taking my complaints further and sharing this experience to warn others about how they operate. Terrible experience, and I hope they reconsider their approach to customer service. I additionally advise any business to avoid conducting business with a company that has such unethical practices and drives around trying to make a quick dollar without anyone calling to complaint. Note: Eddie the tow driver admitted to not being called by anyone and just looking to tow individuals.

My mother-in-law…read moredidn't get to choose where her car was towed, so it is completely valid to have it here since we didn't have a choice or control over it. We unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to request to just tow it back home. I understand storage/tow fees along with a $240 release fee by the Daly City Police Department. It was over $500 to release the car after 1 night/day of storage. Fine. That's a little steep than other places, but they can charge whatever they want since it's their business. What really ticks me off is they offered to "dispose" the car for over $400. So it costs us $400+ to dispose the car so they can strip it for parts and sell the scrap metal for 100% profit? Unbelievable. I sold my scrapped car when I was in an accident for $1200. Even places that low balled me offered $500 for my car and it was in way worse condition than my mother-in-law's. There was absolutely NO goddammn place that would charge me a "disposal fee" for junking my car. On top of that, they charged $250 just to tow it less than 5 miles from their location back to her house. Front desk and tow drivers were rude scumbags. The silver lining is two other workers were quite nice. They're taking advantage of an overwhelmed, older woman who almost died that doesn't speak English and isn't familiar with these kinds of situations. It's disgusting and predatory. I truly hope they go out of business or there is a shift in management and business practices. Some tips for people who are involved in auto accidents when their car is not drivable: 1. If it's possible (whether you're conscious or able to speak/interact), ask to tow it home. Don't deal with storage fees. You do need the police departments' permission. 2. If it's towed anywhere, whether it's to this hellhole or somewhere else, getting it out as quickly as possible will reduce storage fees. 3. For Daly City, it is a $240 release fee from the police department. It is not the business' fault for that. 4. 99/100 times, you can sell your car for scrap metal or spare parts (as long as you have the title). Always remember to take photos and check with the police department/insurance before you try to sell it in case they need it for evidence/inspection. Don't believe any "disposal fee" BS from any junkyard or towing company.

We reached out to this business with this exact quote: 'Non emergency car tow, anytime within the next few days. About 9 miles within San Francisco. How much for rear wheel towing vs. flat bed. It's from one apt garage to another apt garage, the space is tight for both places'. The good: - The tow truck drivers were right on time for their appointment. - They managed to get our car out of the tight spot (although they had to push it) - Workers were friendly and tried to accommodate us the best they could The bad: - We were charged an additional $75 by the owner for 'additional labor required'. This was because the tow trucks could not get into either garage, and the workers had to push the car out/in to both garages. This was despite the fact that we provided the information on our quote request that it was one SF apartment garage to another, and the spot was tight. We also provided the clearance of the garages the early afternoon before the tow. You would think that professionals in these services would know if their trucks would be able to go into a garage after being provided the clearance, and also that they would check to see what kind of garage it was before providing a quote if the price would change. - Before scheduling an appointment (after being provided the quote), we also confirmed with the owner that there would be 'no hidden fees'. He assured us that he 'don't do business like that'. We were then charged an additional fee of roughly ~30% of the quote price. - We reached out to the owner after being charged additional fees. His responses were full of inconsistencies and odd answers. For example: - He told us he assumed that the garage would be a straight in and out. This was despite us telling him it was to/from an apartment garage in SF and tight spots (assumedly NOT straight in and out), and explaining the garage layout to his employee. He also did not think to clarify before the tow. - He told us that his workers should have reached out to him when it was a more complicated tow and there would be extra fees. Despite acknowledging that it was an error on his drivers for not reaching out, he did not refund the fee. - He texted us requesting more information about the garage the day before. At essentially the same time, his employee (the truck driver) called us and we provided a detailed explanation of the garage situation. His worker failed to relay this information to the owner. The owner blamed us for this, explaining that we should have called him and told him as well, even after we had provided all the requested information to his employee. Summary: Overall, we felt like we went above and beyond to provide all the required information to get an accurate quote. After a series of blunders that appear to be issues with communication by his employees, we ended up having to pay additional hidden fees (roughly 30% of the original quote). We even tried to clarify the situation with the owner after the tow, but he seemed disinterested in providing a refund for the additional fee. This was even after he told us that his employees did not follow the established procedure. Overall this felt a little suspicious and like bad business practice. Even if there were some communication issues with his employees, we felt that the business owner should have honored his word and refunded the fee after. Even with all information we provided and despite our protest, they stood firm on their price.
