Doug is the real deal. I have owned various VW's since 1993. Couple of years now, I purchased an Audi Q7 TDI and have been used to going to VW Depot (now German Car Depot) in Hollywood. I did not find the same type of service lately at the Depot, so I asked a coworker where did he get his car serviced. He quickly told me about the Autobahn Connection. He was thrilled to share with me how great Doug was and what to expect. So, I made an appointment. While making the appointment for service, Doug asked all the right questions to make me know that he is a knowledgeable mechanic. He knows his stuff. Too make it even better, when I showed up, Ariel got my keys and stated that Doug would get back to me on final details (this is nothing like the other shop that I will not name anymore). My car is running like new. Everything was checked--things that didn't even mention. Doug even checked my warranties to make sure that I would not be charged for items that I could get for free---HONESTY!! He went out of his way to make sure that he could save me money. That is so hard to find in any business, but especially in car service. I am now a Autobahn customer with the top technician in the South Florida area for as long as I have my car. read more

I can't say enough about the folks down at Autobahn Connection... I'm been working in the area 2-3 months, living out of a suitcase, hundreds of miles from home... I called them on a Friday morning, explaining the mounting bracket to my car's radiator fan broke, and that I chicken-wired the fan in place... I asked if they could look at it to see if it was safe to drive... I dropped my car off at lunch and they gave me a ride back to work! Doug looked the car over with me, and we discussed what repairs were important to me. He agreed to do what he could before the shop closed at 5pm. To repair my chicken-wire fix, he custom-welded the fan back in place. Custom-Welded! He secured the fan and the entire front end and the car now rides better than before the fan was an issue! He finished sometime after 7:30pm, over 2.5 hours after the shop was supposed to close. He did all this with a smile because, as he showed me, my car was not safe to drive without this repair! We talked about the particulars of my A5 Jetta during and after the repair. Doug knows more about my car than every mechanic, every dealer, and every website I've been to - all put together. And I've done a ton of research on my first-year model, 5-cylinder, 2005.5 'New Jetta' (Just sounds mysterious, don't it? Try ordering parts!) I'm serious... my car has a ton of idiosyncrasies and he knew all about them. On top of that, the price was very reasonable. My 2010 vw Passat broke down while I was in Ft. Lauderdale. I took it to Firestone and they couldn't find a thing wrong with it. I looked on Yelp to find a good mechanic (the dealership has horrible reviews) and I found Doug. I was only going to be in town for a few days and was really worried about my long drive home with my mysterious problem. Doug allowed me to drop my car off. I cannot tell you how relieve I've been to find him. He tested my car for 3 days trying to figure out the exact problem. He did replace some parts and we're both hoping this is the exact fix. He explained that in a normal situation, he doesn't want his customers to pick the car up until he's positive about the issue. In my case, there wasn't another option. The prices was great compared to those at the dealership. Its also great that Autobahn Connections generally uses OEM, or comparable, parts/fluids, rather than crappy knockoffs from eBay. Since they specialize in VWs and Audis they are familiar with common issues and can help you with maintenance the dealership never mentions, that will prevent well-known and very expensive repairs in the future. read more

I have been taking my 2005 VW Beetle to Doug for about 2-3 years now and I will never take it to anyone else for as long as I live in South Florida. Doug is honest, reliable, and friendly....and Ariel is pretty darn awesome too! If you have a German made car and you're not taking it to Autobahn then you're probably seriously getting ripped off and/or not getting the options and high quality parts that you deserve. Before I met Doug, I had my water pump replaced at a repair shop up the street. My car was at about 78,000 miles at the time and the other repair shop literally had to take my close to needing replacement timing belt off to get to the water pump, but they did not bother to actually replace the timing belt for me while they were in there. Fast forward about a year and a half and my car starts leaking fluid....again...I then take it to Doug (who has been taking care of my car for a while at this point) who explains to me that there is a cheaper plastic water pump for my car (which is what the other shop had given me) OR there is a slightly more expensive, more durable, metal water pump that would last me longer. He also highly suggested that I get my timing belt replaced at the same time so that I did not have to pay labor for someone to take my car apart a third time to get to that area. By giving me the options, I was able to make an informed decision about what parts I wanted to put into my vehicle and I expect that my new metal water pump will be with my car until she goes to car heaven (aka the junk yard). I could write an entire book about all of the wonderful quality work that Autobahn has done on my car, but I will save you the time and just tell you this - If you're considering taking your car to Autobahn, stop considering it and pick up the phone....you and your car will be soooooo happy you did. I singularly credit Doug for breathing life back into my car when it was on the brink of death due to years of negligence, abuse, and irresponsible/ naive car ownership. read more
