My family has been using the autobell on route 55, Durham for several years. This is the first time that i have not left a tip and my last visit to Autobell. On arrival I parked my car at the entrance to the washing chute and waited. No one was around so I walked to the front of the building and the guy cleaning the car said the other employee is just heading back to the sign in area. I walked directly to him via the wash chute. He gave me a quick apology but spent a significant amount of time indicating I should have waited in my car and that I am not allowed to walk thru the chute walkway (i saw no signage). When I pulled into the interior cleaning spot, the attendant asked if I wanted the trunk area cleaned (back portion of a CRV). I said yes. Given that was supposed to be part of what I was paying for I guess he was just trying to shorten his workload. While he was vacuuming the drivers front floor, I tapped him on the shoulder so I could retrieve my phone which I had forgotten on the console. He quickly said, "Please don't touch me". I can understand an aversion to being touched in any way but a tap on the shoulder to get a persons attention? Rude and entitled. read more

Sloppy work to say the least. Rushed job. The interior wasn't cleaned thoroughly, just looks like my teenager half did it. They have two guys working on the car and obvious things are missed, like the back glass, crumbs in the center console, and dirt on the mats. I definitely won't be returning. They went up on the prices but down on the service. read more

just asked for an exterior wash and stated that I would just vacuum out the interior myself to the employee manning the tunnel. While waiting for them to finish the exterior I started vacuuming the inside myself and they told me I wasn't allowed to do that. Poor business decision with 5 of these on every corner. read more

Went to Autobell yesterday (1/27) as a first time ever customer to get my car washed after the snow. AAA across the street recommended it. On the way home, I had to adjust my rearview mirror on the driver's side since the car wash moved it. Then, when I got home I noticed the plate on the front of my car had been bent! It was never bent before going to this car wash. I called and left a message with the operator at Auto Bell about what happened. I also said I'd taken a photo. I asked if I could send it so she recommended I email customer care. She said I'd hear from them by today. Well, no reply to my email, no phone call. Terrible customer service! I'll never go back there again, that's for sure. However, they owe me some sort of monetary damage for the damage. read more

Very dissatisfied with the car wash from this location for the second time. I paid for the $39 wash with the bells and whistles and for the life of me, I can't figure out how these kids learned to clean a car. I watched one kid stand outside the car with the driver door open and spray some cleaning solution into the car from a distance. No precision in cleaning-just standing outside the car spraying into it. When I was called over after the car was "cleaned" I could see missed areas of the exterior that needed more attention from 20ft away. I asked for a towel to finish drying and cleaning the exterior while the kid stood and watched. The front still had dead bugs on the bumper and the interior had numerous missed areas that I'll have to wipe down. For $43 (with tax) I expect a much cleaner car and better service. I've given this place two opportunities to impress me and I will not be coming back. read more

Against my better judgement, I thought I'd give Autobell another try since my last visit there. This time was the last! I paid $26 for full service wash, but my expectations for the service I received, and what I actually got were two different things. After going through the wash, I noticed there was not one single light that lit up, indicating that I received any kind of wax, polish, or sealer. When I asked the attendant if that was what I should expect, I was told that I paid for the most inexpensive full service wash, and there were no extras included. I was surprised and said but I paid $26. And he said that's correct that's our basic full service. It's not like I'm a penny pincher, but $26 just to drive through a car wash, in my opinion, is totally unreasonable. read more

The line waiting to get thru wasn't that long. I have never been to this type of carwash before, so I didn't know what to expect. The gentleman that greeted me asked me what I wanted, "inside and out", he took it from there. I left my keys and away my car went. You can choose to watch the entire process all the way to the end, but it was a beautiful day, so I chose to stay outside. There are a few chairs inside near the snack machines if you'd like to stay there. The guy that did the inside and out did a pretty good job. The only thing he did miss was the part of the car that you inevitably knock your feet on when you get into the car. The vacuuming was pretty good and the windows were super clear. I loved my shiny tires, made them look like new! I tipped him and away I went. It was a seamless process and really didn't take that long! read more

This is my FIRST & LAST visit to this location. I visited them today to get my vehicle washed so I could post it for sale online. The guy that was working on my car seemed to really care about his work, even taking back around the building to vacuum it again (his words). To my surprise, when I got home, my car was still FILTHY!!! The bumper wasn't touched & I haven't gotten a clue what he vacuumed because there were lots of crumbs & food still under/on my seats from my 6 year old son. No, I didn't check behind him. I saw him taking my mats out and rinsing them off, so I expected him to vacuum like he said. He even left the rear windshield wiper plastic cover on. If I had time to go back, I would go back & get a refund. I spent $41 for their "holiday special" & tipped him $10. FOR WHAT??! I am livid & will have to go clean it again myself. I can't believe some of the negative reviews I've read from people here. I came today for the first time and got the superpoly whatever, and added on the rain repellent, armorall, and extra vacuuming. These guys did an awesome job and were courteous, quick, and professional. Naturally, when I got back into my car, there were some hard to see/impossible to reach places that still had small amounts of dust or debris, but that's why I didn't pay $300 for a detail service that would have had my car all day. Some of these people with complaints are legitimately expecting an elite detail job for $18 and 10 minutes of work, it's unbelievable. I definitely got more than I paid for and I fully intend to purchase a monthly membership the next time I need my car washed read more

These guys do a good job for the money. If you're not doing a drive through wash and a package instead, just point out an area that needs special attention and they'll tape a note to the window and take care of it. If you sign up at their website for the monthly newsletter you'll not only get a free wash on your birthday, but a different type of coupon each month and sometimes they give unlimited use of it in that month. The Staff at Autobell Car Wash are super friendly and give their best effort to clean and hand dry cars. The actual car wash was in pretty decent condition, but many customers had complained about car scratches. The price is fair and they offer a large amount of package deals. I would rate the overall cleanliness of our car a 7/10 at the end of the car wash. read more

The manager/gentleman who was taking cars and letting us know specials was super friendly, helpful, and nice. He gave us suggestions, let us know what differentiated each package, etc. The exterior of my car is great! Super shiny, tires and rims look great. So thumbs up for that! The interior cleaning, however, was very disappointed. The underneath of my drivers and passenger seats weren't even touched, still crumbs and dirt around the floor mats, dash, and automatic gear shifter. I decided to sign up for an unlimited plan because I thought I could get great value. Was looking for a place where I could get my car cleaned quickly. The first time I went, the quality wasn't the best and the crew took forever so I figured that I could give it another shot. After coming a second time, the quality was even worse, and the crew was so slow and inefficient that I had to leave before they could even wipe down my car. I won't be coming back. read more

I was told this place was great. I searched for several weeks to try a place for my new mustang convertible. Went yesterday and got the $29.95 package and was disappointed. Had to go home and remove all the water spots if the whole car especially the windows. The inside was not vacuumed well and spots still on my inside doors. The young boy doing my car was not paying attention and looking all around when he was supposed to be cleaning the car. Won't return. read more

I brought my 6 month old, 2018 model car to AutoBell to be washed on February 28th. Spent a week or so afterwards with crummy, overcast, rainy weather. However, as soon as I drove my car when the sun was shining bright inside the interior, I noticed that when the bright sun hit and reflected on my climate control screen, it was scuffed and scratched beyond belief - I didn't notice it previously in non-sunny overcast weather. I was SHOCKED as this did NOT exist before I took my car in to be cleaned by AutoBell (I've been driving this car daily for 6 months and this was NOT present previously). Photo attached. I called the customer service number and the rep instructed me to take my car in to get a claim filed/claim number. However, my experience at this location was just awful and I know that AutoBell has no intention on making this situation right: 1. I spoke with a manager, Sammie - a younger guy, maybe early twenties. After he inspected and attempted to buff the scratches out, Sammie came to the conclusion that AutoBell wasn't at fault and his reason was this: he said that the surrounding dash would also be scratched up from their cleaning and not just the LCD screen on my climate control. He said the surrounding dash in my car was also plastic, that all plastics have the same scratch resistance and they all scratch exactly the same. So, to summarize, everything in my car should be scratched and scuffed up and not just the screen on my climate control. I explained that's not how materials work - each plastic in the car is different - the LCD screen (which is clearly a different material than the dash) isn't the same as the surrounding dash trim - it's a different thickness, different texture/finish, different makeup/type. Just like any other material, all plastics don't scratch the same and some are more susceptible to scratches than others based on many factors, physical makeup. When I told him his reasoning didn't make sense and was incorrect he said "well, it's true and just doesn't make sense to *you*". Excuse me? My favorite part was when he was trying to prove his non-logical point: he said that we both had glasses on and that our plastic lenses would scratch exactly the same as some sort of proof to back up his claim. This literally made me laugh because oh yeah? Do you have Trivex, polycarbonate, or high-index plastic lenses? All of those materials are exactly the same and react the same to scratches, huh? Hilarious. 2. Sammie told me that they use microfiber cloths and there was aboslutely no way it would scratch the screen in my car. As he said that, he was holding the rag he just used to clean my screen (and grabbed from the area where they get the rags to clean). I took a look at the rag and it had tiny little pieces of debris and tiny little twiggy like things all caught up in the fibers. I asked if that was the case, how come the rag he just used had dirt caught in the fibers of his microfiber cloth that could clearly scratch a screen? Couldn't rubbing a cloth that had debris/grit/etc on it easily scratch my interior? He said it was impossible (It's not, he was just trying to be right at this point). 3. So, obviously all of this upset me as I was being blown off and given ridiculous reasoning. After a lot of back and forth, I tried to bring the conversation to a conclusion multiple times and leave, but he continued to bait me with combative statements (and inferring I was lying). I repeatedly walked towards my car door and told him I was leaving and would be contacting corporate customer service, but he just kept going on and on telling me AutoBell wasn't responsible and it was my word against theirs. It was like he just had to have the last word and needed to "win". Sammie needs some serious coaching and training on being a manager, how to handle customers and provide good customer service. He never once apologized, showed any sort of empathy for the situation or seemed as if he had my best interest at heart. He was there from the beginning to point fingers and have his employer's back - he never once cared about the customer. I've reported my claim number to customer service now and requested the district manager call me, but honestly, after this experience, I know AutoBell doesn't care about it's customers. It's a he said, she said situation and as a customer, I feel helpless at this point - I know nothing will get resolved. read more

The line moved quickly, but the end result was less than satisfactory. They only vacuumed my front mats and nothing else. I have visited many autobell locations and this one on hwy 55 is my favorite. During one recent visit the car wash ripped my passenger side mirror off. I've seen other reviews where people say that autobell doesn't take responsibility for damages but during my experience they did a thorough investigation of my vehicle, the equipment, and even checked other vehicles to make sure there was no other damage. They took full responsibility and replaced my broken mirror with no cost to me. The manager and other staff are always very nice and ready to help if I have a particular issue id like them to take care of for me. read more

This issue occurred on 10/5/2022. I went to the Autobell car wash located at 5206 NC HWY 55 in Durham , NC. I selected the 19.99 exterior wash. I went thru the wash and drove out and parked my vehicle to let the attendants dry my vehicle. Upon exiting my vehicle I noticed my rear window quarter panel chrome trim had come off. I asked Sean to retrieve the trim. He walked into the tunnel and got the trim and brought it to me. I then asked to speak to the manager. He said he was the manager. I then requested to fill out a damage form. I had to wait as another customers vehicle had been damaged also. I contacted corporate the next day and filed a formal complaint. I mentioned I spoke with the manager Sean. They informed me he was the assistant manager and they said they would have the local car wash manager reach out to me. It's been a month and I haven't heard from anyone so I've given them ample time. UPDATE.... I spoke with the manager Reis and was compensated for the damage that was done to the chrome trim on my vehicle during the wash. I am satisfied with the outcome. read more

The last time I visited this Autobell my magnets were off my car when I got home. One particular magnet was a Duke Tip gifted program magnet my son recurved when he was invited to the program. I went back to get it. I was told they had it on a wall. When they returned they stated it was no longer there. Another employee then added that another guy liked it and must have taken it home. I haven't been back in 2 years. Today I went back to find that a bag of change that I forgot to remove had disappeared when I drove across the street to a drive thru.i thought I had remove all valuables from the car but that I did not. To be clear... the bag had less than $5 in it and the magnet was not replaceable but again it cost $5. This is not about money but I just tipped someone $10 to steal from my car. Twice. The manager said "they probably threw it away and wanted to search my car. I declined as I had just done exactly that to not falsely accuse. I understand times are tough but I had 6 jobs when the pandemic hit and only reclaimed 1 so far. It's the first time I've even need to wash my car. This manager offered zero follow up.
