It started with a service appointment for my GMC pickup. As usual got a text the day before asking…read moreif interested in talked to sales while waiting for my vehicle to get serviced. Said sure. Chris Kelley wasn't what I was expecting as a sales Rep. NO hard sell, NO hard push for a sale, NO arrogant attitude. He was just laid back, easy going, polite, nice all around guy. I felt like we just clicked. He asked what I was interested in to replace my pickup. We chatted for a bit, then Chris took the time to show me around ALL the lots at Capitol Auto Group. We stopped kicked a few tires. I saw several rigs of interest... have to laugh at this. One that caught my eye was an orange Jeep the belonged to another customer; it having just been serviced and was waiting for its owner to claim it. Chris told me that that one belonged someone else. LOL! Bummer... oh well. Chris drove back to the Nissan lot where the other rigs were I had an interest in and wanted to test drive. Chris got the keys showed me a Cherry red VW bug, boy was she a Beauty.... cream colored interior, heated leather seats, AC, she had the works and then some. Ened up giving her a pass. Next to the VW has a Jeep Wrangler, thought maybe. Chris already had the keys we took it off the lot. We actually drive it around out on the streets got it up to speed. I asked a few questions, well maybe lot, about the rig. Chris answered my questions i felt honestly. No hedging on any of the answers. Yep you guessed it I fell in love with this baby out on a test drive. We drove back to the Chevy dealership and started the paperwork. Chris made that process sooooo easy and pain free. In short order I was driving this baby home with a smile that hasn't left. If you are interested in buying a new or used rig from Capitol Auto Group find Chris Kelley. He will happily show around let you kick a few tire and get that test drive. You never know, you to may fall in love with your next set of wheels on that test drive. Even now thinking about my experience with Chris puts a smile on my face, he gets a 12 out 10 for a positive rating.

Went with my son, a humble young man who's a vegan, completely eats organic, does yoga, loves his…read moredog, etc..all around cool guy and we were trying to find him a car at Nissan/Capitol Auto Group in Salem, Oregon. My son had been working and saving his money. Then, I'd help him out a bit, too. He found a used Subaru (#1 safety, nice color, great car for dogs, Subaru really supports dogs (pets), etc... and we liked this Subaru at the Nissan/Capitol Auto Group dealership. The car was not even listed on their website and was in the lot of trade-ins (with 75+ other trade-in cars) in a lot behind the Subaru dealership. So, I helped negotiate with finance guy #1 for $15k for this Subaru car and only if he agreed at $15k would we then take the car to an independent mechanic (AJ's Auto who are great guys!) to be mechanically inspected. Finance guy #1 agreed to the $15k and we dropped the car at the AJ's auto mechanic for approx. 4 hours which cost my son $170.00. Later in the evening, we picked the car up from the AJ's auto and drove the Subaru back over to Nissan/Capitol Auto Group dealership. My son really excited thinking he'd be driving his car home that evening, his 1st good decent car with good safety and was mechanically good...a car he would be using for several years to drive back and forth to work (Amazon) while he continued his college (studying Ayurvedic Medicine as he says, so he might help others in the world) Upon arriving at the Nissan/Capitol Auto Group dealership were met with finance guy #2 (no idea where finance guy # 1 was) and finance guy # 2 says to us that the price of the Subaru was now $17,500.00 and not the $15,000.00 originally agreed upon and that had been earlier negotiated. Increasing the price by $2500.00. Smh! WTH! I was livid! My son's spirit now broke. I spoke loudly telling the finance guy #2, that he should be ashamed of himself and what a terrible shady thing to do to this kid! I continued to tell finance guy #2 that not only did my son waste his time at the Nissan dealership/Capitol Auto Group, that the dealership lied and my son was now out his $170.00 auto inspection that he paid. (They finally reimbursed my son the $170.00) So, while we still haven't found my son a solid and dependable car, I'm telling this story so you all can be aware of the extremely shady practices of Capitol Auto Group and their dealerships. No integrity whatsoever. I will not now or ever be recommending any dealership owned by Capitol Auto Group and certainly never recommending the Nissan dealership in Salem, Oregon. their website says, Hard lesson learned for us at 100%...

We first looked at a 2018 Civic on the Subaru lot, but my daughter wanted to look at other options (wasn't set on a Civic). The good thing about the Capitol setup, is they have Chevrolet and Toyota right there, so we were able to go look at quite a few other newer used car options. We drove a 2022 Kia Forte, as well as a 2018 Chevy Cruze LT RS, and liked both of them better than the Civic -- they both had a lot lower miles, and were quieter on the road. We never felt any pressure from either sales associate, and felt they were very helpful in finding us viable options. We took a break to go get some lunch while we did research on the vehicles, then came back to work out a deal for the Cruze with Cameron and company. All of the associates involved with the deal mentioned several extended warranty options, but given the fact that the car only had 31K miles, was regularly serviced next door at the Chevy dealer, and got good reliability ratings from several consumer agencies, we declined. The finance guy pressured a little harder, and was on the verge of being a jerk about it, but I stood my ground and left without any add-ons. I'm fine with that. The overall atmosphere inside the dealership is laidback, with an inviting waiting area stocked with snacks and water. As far as used car buying experiences go, I rate this one pretty highly. Thanks, Gavin & Cameron, for making it that way.

Capitol Subaru had my 2015 Outback for two weeks for CVT issues. In the end the best they could do…read morewas confirm there was a problem and that the FIRST STEP would be to replace the torque converter and oil at $3,310. Then, if that didn't fix the issue, they would replace the valve body at $2,500, and then, if that didn't fix the problem, they would replace the entire transmission to the tune of $11,000. Now, if they can't pinpoint the problem why would we pay over $16,000 to repair an 11-year-old car with 81,000 miles on it? Proper diagnostics are key, but they just wanted to throw parts at it. Oh, and BTW, Subaru of America wouldn't help because we were out of the extended warranty period by one year on a KNOWN CVT problem. Never again Subaru

DONT BUY FROM THIS DEALER Drove in from about 500 miles away…read moreand bought a 2020 highlander platinum from VW of Salem , I was told by Perry the sales manager that "it flew through inspection" and "it's a Toyota" when I was there to pick it up. After looking at inspection papers it seems it did. Just to find out from my certified Toyota technician that there is a leak on the timing cover gasket And grease leaking from a bar in the suspension. Replacement is $5500. I reached out and asked if the dealership could make it right. Either the GM or GSM denied my request indirectly, they couldn't even contact me ,I had to call in to speak to a sales manager that relayed the message and told me it is "as-is" , no warranty and they wouldn't be fixing anything. Even after sending my report back to VW of Salem showing exactly every issue , my request was denied . This kind of snake behavior from a dealership is why people don't trust the industry. There was a falsified report or a very lazy tech who did the inspection and is not being held accountable. It seems like (from reading reviews) somehow this happens quite often. I'll be sending them a demand letter and if nothing comes of it I will pursue legal action. I've worked in auto sales the past 5 years and never have I seen such an unethical , deceitful and dishonest practice at a dealership. Especially a Lithia dealer with such a big name and reputation. I've attached VW of Salem inspection report and my certified Toyota technicians report. Somehow it's completely different. Don't buy from this dealer unless you want surprises when you get an independent inspection

We were at Lithia Honda getting an oil change and decided to drive around looking for red vehicles, specifically more so for my husband, when I notice the beachy blue color first of my X5. It had just been traded in and hadn't even been processed by the BMW team in Salem yet, but I checked out another one with different interior color they did have clean & we had previously rented an X5 during vacation to try, so we knew we liked the ride & tech. The service team got it cleaned up for me quickly, a few days, and we are very pleased with the price we paid, what they gave us on our trade in and their customer service throughout. Craig is very personable, honest and kind, so he was a joy to work with. Keith, made the paperwork easy to understand and explained all the benefits of buying a BMW & purchasing their warranties. Riley showed me how to set up my Apple Car Play, to register my vehicle on the BMW app and figure out some of the settings. He's a huge asset to his team! Everyone we chatted with at BMW of Salem was extremely polite, humble, helpful and pleasant. We will be back when it's time to trade our current vehicles in!

I traded in my old car for a new one, fair pricing for the exchange. They also got me to sign up for a Costco special life time oil change that can be use in any of their Lithia location that is totally worth it and can be used 1-2 times a year and the break even is ~8 years. I wish they were closer to Portland, however I am good with making once a year trip there, meet a friend in Salem, get all the oil changes, maintenance checks and recalls done in a day, much better than the wait times or dropping the car off for multiple days at the Portland dealer.

Except the first time I met her in a PNW downpour the windshield wiper flapped uselessly like a limp handshake. Replacing the wipers was contractual. Basic safety. A correction to meet the State's prim-and-proper dress code. Still met with a laissez-faire attitude. When I picked her up, her glasses were still broken. I took the fix into my own hands--parts shop on the way home, a couple of tenners, a little elbow grease, done. Next up, the key fob. The emergency key was missing, the kind of detail that only matters when it matters. I brought it up, like an old lover who still believes a wrong turn should end with a nightcap and an apology. Instead, it turned from good cop to bad cop faster than a red carpet turns into a doormat. Then Murphy made a house call. The battery went low. She wouldn't let me in, like a partner who caught me gambling with the rent money. I used my one free call to get a locksmith to bail me out. Time and money burned on something promised on the first date. Next the check engine light blinked into life like it couldn't wait to hand me a bill and a lecture. Still loyal, I went back to them instead of the brand shop off the two one seven. One tip slipped across the bar after another. Reassurance she was safe to take out on the town without having to constantly look over my shoulder. It was just a false trail that kept circling back to the same code I heard on the scanner from day one. I was being led on a wild goose chase and suspected I was the stuffing. After months of silence and no new leads I picked up the phone to reopen the case, like a jilted ex dialing a number I know I shouldn't. The witnesses had "left." The records were "tied up." I was told the specifics about the prior investigation were withheld for "legal reasons." It read like the old standards had left the building, and she'd taken her charm with her. Trusting my first instinct, I took the old girl to the brand shop, the place that spoke her native tongue. They handed me the facts. No passing the buck. No song and dance. Workmanship you could hang your hat on. I'd finally gotten the full meal deal, but I'd lost my wallet in the process. I figured I'd give Freeman one last chance to make things right. I'd played this scene before, back when deals were clean and handshakes meant something. Back then, I had a number in my head and they hit it like a sharpshooter. This time it was a slow middle school dance on a wet gym floor, and every step felt wrong. The numbers didn't add up, even the Kelly Blue Boys gave me the kind of look you save for a three-card monte table. Sure, I could take a bruising, but I hadn't signed up to get rolled. The relationship ended with a love letter that read like a case file, our entire history laid out in black and white, followed by a reply that never came. Freeman was a name I'd trusted since I was a rookie twenty years back, the door I knocked on when I wanted a fair and honest deal, the place I sent friends, family, and associates. Somewhere along the way, it seemed they traded the Freeman name for the Saul Goodman Sunday Special. In this town, some places sell you a promise the way a magician sells you a trick. You watch the shine. You miss the move. I gave them every chance to play it straight, but instead I got a different story each time, ended up with the bills, and found myself alone in the rain without an umbrella. Ragged, like a mark who realized the gig too late, I closed the file, because sometimes that's the only win you get. Take a walk. Don't look back. The rain will wash the footprints away.
